I loved it. I just moved here with my family and have been familiarizing ourselves with the local fare. I heard about this place and it sounded great. We tried it and we weren't disappointed! The refried beans were authentic and awesome! The rice was the same as the beans - perfect! I ordered a chile relleno and it came skinned, lightly breaded, and stuffed to perfection. The sauce over it was all cheesy goodness! The price is also incredible. My wife had to take half of her meal home and I couldn't quite finish mine (normally I do!). We stumbled upon this little gem when our hotel had a pathetic "included breakfast". We saw all of the cars and thought it must be good. We were so happy with our decision! The migas were to-die-for! As was the fresh pineapple and melon juices, the pancakes, Palm Café breakfast plate and their fresh tortillas. Everything was very authentic, not TexMex. Service was really friendly, if a bit slow. Definitely not something we'd hold against them as it was packed, including a line of take-out orders. And all of this for a great price! We paid $17 for the big breakfast platter, the migas plate, a glass of the fresh juice, and 2 coffees. Super value for super food! We will definitely return again and again when we visit New Braunfels! read more

Authentic! Authentic! And authentic! They make their own tortillas, their chips are seriously some of the best I have had and because of that they are also addicting. Chips and salsa on your table the second you sit down and the servers are very friendly and pretty darn entertaining. This place is a hole in the wall and that's why I love it so much. When we go from Houston to San Antonio, we go through New Braunfels just so we can eat the migas for breakfast. They are the best in Texas.

Food - 3 stars. Service - 1 star. Met some family here for breakfast. Palm s obviously a popular place, as there were people already waiting for a table. It's located in a rundown strip center just outside of town - usually, the crowd and the location would indicate a better restaurant than what we experienced. Inside, it's a typical tex-mex place from the color of the paint to the tables and chairs. Nothing remarkable, either good or bad. The food was typical tex-mex fare, average or slightly below average. I had the migas plate - either they forgot the jalapenos or they found the mildest ones out there because there was no heat at all. My wife said the barbocoa and carne guisada were just OK. The tortillas were good and the chips were fresh. But the salsa was this thin runny sauce that looked so unappetizing I didn't even try it. Food might have been better if we had gotten it hot. Our server sucked. (To be fair, it appeared that we had the worst waitress in the place.Other tables were getting much better service - 1 table was seated, ate, left, and had another party seated before we got our cold food.) It took forever to even get drinks and then to place our order. And we had to actually ask for our food to be brought to our table - it was sitting long enough to get very cold. We had to ask for tortillas, for salsa twice, and at least 3 times for other items. Our waitress seemed rather put out that my wife actually wanted the onions and cilantro that were supposed to come with her barbocoa taco. We never did get a check. What really irritated me was that our waitress did everything she could to avoid eye contact with me when I was standing at the cash register waiting to pay; finally someone else rang me out. She really had a chip on her shoulder; first server I've stiffed in years but I refused to even give a penny to a snotty, rude waitress like her. I doubt we'll give this place a second chance; too many other tex-mex places that actually act like they want us as customers. read more

Maybe our 4th and last visit today. After being seated, the Waiter disappeared. We had to let two other people know we needed service. We ordered some queso with our chips and salsa. We were charged $5 for a Little bowl of what seems like Velveeta cheese. Chips and the Salsa are always good though. 2 American breakfast plates showed up. Eggs were over easy although I asked for Over Medium for both plates..the potatoes and eggs doused in grease no flavor..pancakes and bacon were Ok as expected. Total tab for greasy egg slop, greasy potatoes, pancakes, bacon, queso, chips, salsa, tortillas and two bottled drinks was $25. No tip today. read more

The Palm used to be New Braunfels best kept secret when it came to Mexican food, but now every one knows!!! It can get busy here. I will only go elsewhere to sate my craving if this place is closed (Mondays), or if it's too busy to grab a table. You will not find fajitas like theirs anywhere!!! Ok but not worth 4+ stars. Looked up local places to eat on way out of town and saw this had good reviews and on our route. Restaurant is fine and clean enough. Agree with the "hole in the wall" description. Waitress was good and food came out in reasonable amount of time. One really bad thing was she told us they didn't have rice today. Looking around the room I saw rice on people's plates so I guess they just ran out of rice. It was 7:00 on a Tuesday. So instead of rice and beans our meals came with potatoes and beans. Um, ok. I guess a starch is a starch, lol. My kids ordered beef quesadillas and expected fajita beef but got ground beef. They replaced their meals with fajita beef which we appreciated. Unfortunately they weren't very good. The cheese was very processed and not real cheese. It was like velvetta or something which I would not expect in a quesadilla. Cheese enchiladas were ok. Not great but not horrible. Didn't care for the processes cheese filling but with the gravy at least it was better than the quesadilla. My husband ordered a pancake breakfast which he said was good. 2 giant pancakes with bacon and he was happy. So the place is just ok. A solid 3 stars, no more, no less. read more

This place seems very popular so decided to stop by and pick up some food to go. When I was handed a to go menu, baby roaches came out of the soda area. Not one or two, but over 7. Wish I would have seen that prior to paying or ordering. I felt bad for the cashier who tried to hide the roaches by pushing them under the fountain machine. read more

If you're looking for good Tex-Mex this is the place. Small restaurant in a strip center but don't be fooled. The food is always delicious as is the service. They no longer serve beer but you can now BYOB so that's always a plus. Hot sauce and chips are perfect, sometimes a little spicy but so delicious you can't stop eating it!
