Came to Palm Coast Auto because my car was shaking at high speeds (65-70+ mph) and when I was decelerating or braking. I had heard it was a "good" shop. Dropped it off, and the lady at the front desk was not friendly at all (I chalked it up to a bad day) and left my car with the few notes I had. A few hours later, I received a call stating that it was "something like a grommet" in the steering column causing the shaking. I approved the repair, and they told me they'd call back when the job was done. Several hours later (after, I assume, taking apart the steering column), they called again to say, "It wasn't the grommet. We can replace the steering column for $3,100, but it has plenty of life left. The shaking is just an annoyance, not a safety hazard." Okay, I can live with an annoyance as long as it's safe. Fast forward to the next day -- I get the car up to 40 mph (I live very close to the shop, so we didn't hit highway speeds right after pickup), and it's shaking like crazy -- ten times worse than before, and at much lower speeds. I called back and got the same unfriendly lady. When I explained the situation, she rudely said, "We told you that you'd need a new steering column to make the shaking stop." I replied, "Then why is it ten times worse than before I dropped it off? You said it had 'plenty of life left.'" She responded that "they would have never known how much life was left," basically calling us liars for something she clearly said to us. That's when I decided to find a new shop. Took it to a different shop in the area, and lo and behold -- it had nothing to do with the steering column. They found the issues were all within the brakes, rotors, and calipers (which Palm Coast Auto specifically told me were fine) and that these issues were overheating other components and were absolutely not safe. Best part? Everything was replaced for less than a third of the cost of the unnecessary steering column replacement they tried to sell me. Now the car runs great! I never write reviews, and some of our friends had trusted this shop -- but I can assure you, they've lost a few customers just from this ordeal. Trust them at your own expense. read more

Stay far away from this place. We brought our Toyota Camry for a transmission fluid change. The car was fully drivable when we arrived. After the service, the car stalled immediately and couldn't be driven. They pushed it back inside, checked again, and said everything was "good to go." But when we tried to leave again, the same thing happened -- the car stalled right away. Only then did they admit that the transmission was damaged -- after already telling us twice it was safe to drive. They put our safety at risk. When we came back to ask for a refund, the staff were rude and disrespectful, yelled at us, and kicked us out of the building, forcing us to stand in the Florida heat. They told us the owner wasn't there but that we should come back the next day to speak with him and receive a refund. The next day, I called to ask if the owner was in -- he picked up and immediately started yelling, threatening me, refusing to refund the money, and even cursed at me. I'm 17 years old and was completely shocked by this treatment. He made me cry, and my heart was beating so fast I couldn't breathe. I was genuinely scared and I'm still afraid of him. No one deserves to be treated like this. They damaged the car, lied, threatened me, and treated us horribly. Refused to provide any evidence that the transmission was already damaged. Unprofessional, unsafe, dishonest. Do not trust this shop with your vehicle or your safety. read more

First time writing a review in my life. I Had an ac leak and it took 3 visits to find the leak. They added Freon every time to put an bandaid on a much larger problem (complete incompetence). Initial cost was reasonable but never tried to solve the problem. Instead handed me an $1800 bill if I wanted it fixed (1150 in labor). I quickly called around and the first place I went to dropped the price by 550 and was very transparent with pricing and explained the whole job. Also, I found out the Freon that Palm Coast auto refilled every time I returned was damaging the ac. FUNNY BUT SAD. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Major Auto was very helpful. read more

I had purchased specialty high-end brake rotors that I wanted to get installed and they won't do it. Guess they really do want to mark up their auto parts 100% or more as previous reviewers have stated. Obviously I was willing to pay whatever labor rate they wanted. Guess they're too busy. Would not recommend at all. Almost all reputable shops will install owner parts within reason, especially brake rotors. If not, they're looking to make lots on parts. That's my opinion. read more

As we were at a stop light our vehicle suddenly died...when the light turned green we were unable to move. We thought it sounded like possibly the transmission, however not completely sure. Therefore, we called a tow company but before they arrived a Flagler County Sheriff Deputy arrived and called a towing service for us. We asked for the nearest auto repair shop and was recommended to Palm Coast Auto. We thought the worst just driving across country from Cali but PC Auto checked our vehicle out and let us know it was a bolt that fell off. Total cost $68.00. They are awesome... I've been taking my cars to PC Auto Repair on Hargrove road for 3 years now and continue to be very impressed. I've got a little more than average knowledge on working on cars but being older now I prefer to have even easy maintenance items like oil changes done by someone I trust. They've never tried to up sell me on typical BS other quick lube places constantly do. Today I took my 8 year old SUV in for oil change and asked them to check rear wheel bearings since my son who works on cars thought he heard a clicking noise from rear hubs while we were driving. I couldn't hear it but my hearing is shot anyway. They put it up on the rack and spun all the tires and test drove it with no sound noted. Only had to pay $40 for synthetic Mobil oil change and oil alone at Walmart is $27 plus $10 for a filter. I remarked to the service writer that they could have done the wheel bearing work anyway and I'd never known it wasn't necessary. She said they hadn't been in business for 30 years in Palm Coast by taking advantage of their customers. Highly recommend you try this repair shop anytime. read more

After reading the other reviews I'm wondering if I'm discussing the same place! My 81 year old Mother in law brought her 1999 Toyota Rav 4 in because she felt that it was running rough. The work performed came to $1652. Because my in-laws are on a fixed income we try to help them watch the money that they spend. That being said- the price of every part that was used was marked up nearly 100%. When I questioned Ken his explanation was that he uses "retail prices." I found multiple places that retailed it for nearly 100% less than what he was charging. A part that anyone can walk in off the street and purchase from Toyota for $304 Ken Davidson charged an 81 year old woman $617.00. This type of egregious markup ran rampant through the invoice. The same part was charged 2x. At different prices. I'm not sure how I can't conclude that an 81 year old woman was sadly taken advantage of. Where'd the meet Ken Davidson? Church. The cherry on top. I checked under the hood for signs of new parts;$28 hoses etc. they forgot to put the antifreeze cap back. It'll go purchase a replacement for $7 - as I'm sure that his business model has it priced at $14. read more

We dropped it off that morning, got a call early afternoon telling us what was wrong as well as a cost to fix which was a reasonable and fair price. They said they would order the parts and it would be finished the next afternoon. I got a call by noon the next day saying it was done. When we picked it up we got a detailed explanation of the problem, what they did to fix it, and they offer a discount if you pay cash. Would highly recommend them for any work you need done. I live in Charlotte, NC but was in Palm Coast for a bachelor party and just happened to purchase a car nearby. I called the guys at Palm Coast Auto and told them the situation - that I had about 4 days and 300 miles to return the car and would sleep easier at night having them give the car a mechanic's once over. They put the car on the lift, inspected seals, gaskets, critical bolts etc. The car was a 2011 BMW M3. Once the car was back down, they pulled it up front and tossed me the keys. I went inside expecting to pay some sort of inspection fee...but the owner told me to enjoy my weekend and that there was no charge. Pretty awesome in and out experience. Thanks again guys! I'm sorry to report because I had read good reviews for this place and had high hopes but was sadly disappointed. I called to check the price to replace a front headlight on my car and was told it was about $100 so I made an appointment. When my wife brought it in, they looked at it and after testing, said it is more than the headlight. The ballast and headlamb controle module was also bad. Total estimate was $1,026. Fortunately my wife took it to Tire Kingdom for a second opinion. They looked at it and said only the bulb was bad. The rest was working fine. Total cost with labor (it's hard to get to) was $306. This is outrageous that they would try to take advantage like that. Attempting to charge my wife over 3 times higher than what was needed. I would never trust or recommend them for obvious reasons. read more

Unscrupulous mechanic shop. Definitely will give the good guy appearance but wait until you see that you were ripped off by these crooks and paid for repairs that weren't done ... but they kept the money. 4/2018 - brought car in for water pump/timing belt/tensioners to be replaced and I provided the OEM parts (240.00 kit) to do the repair, Owner Ken was ok with this but wouldn't guarantee the parts if they failed. I agreed since they were brand new OEM parts and knew brand was solid. After 8 days of not getting my car back and given the runaround, I show up at opening time to get my car. I was told the car would be ready in 1 hr, so I came back in an hour. Told the work was done and I paid the bill (750.00 labor) for this part of multiple repairs. Very soon I started having coolant leaks and overheating issues (didn't have issuea beforehand). Took car back 8 times and Ken told me nothing qas wrong even though I KNEW something was amiss. Frustrated by the lies I took car to two mechanics that saw coolant loss issues and told me it was a bad water pump (although I just had a new water pump installed). Went back and asked for refund from Ken and he refused, almost led to physical confrontation. Tried to get credot card company to deny payment and Ken again lied that all work was done and that I was happy until recently. Claim denied by card company so I was stuck with the unrepaired car. I was having to use stop leak and gallons of coolant just to drive because I didn't have the $1000.00 to do jpb again at the time Forward to 8/2019 and I have bad rattle coming from front water pump area and take car tp Mobil Mark for diagnosis. It's obvious that water pump bearing is going out since there is coolant loss from under car and overheating. I have Mobil Mark do the water pump/timing belt again. What occurs next is disgusting. After old parts are pulled off and replaced it's obvipus the parts aren't new or the OEM parts I provoded to Palm Coast Auto Repair. In fact, the parts were at least 8-10 yrs old and from Autozone. Work that was done before I bought car. I now have more witnesses to the crooks not doing the repair and taking 990.00 ... nothing but crooks. I'm seeking legal advice because twhat Palm Coast Auto Repair did is twisted. Not only did I get lied to many times but they also defamed me with the credit card company and could've destroyed my engine with these issues. Used sub-standard replacement oil filter. Filter element collapsed after two weeks, causing substantial damage to vehicle. All this AFTER being assured that the replacement filter would be 100% OEM. When I call to explain what had happened, Ken, the manager took no responsibility and said "you can do whatever you want" ...so I'm posting this. I had used them several times prior without any issues and thought they were fairly priced and did a good job. I took my truck in for an issue with my rear brake sensor and they suggested a transmission flush since my car was over 100k. I authorized the flush and when I picked my car up was told "the check engine light might come on and if it does just bring it back". 2 days later my check engine light came on and when I took it back I was told (after they ran diagnostics) that the pressure in my transmission was off and I needed a new transmission and the cost was 5k. I took it to AAMCO for a second opinion only to find out the pressure was off because it was 2 quarts low on transmission fluid meaning the neglected to put the right amount of fluid back in my transmission when they flushed it and never bothered to check it when I brought it back! AAMCO said there was no leak in my transmission so that was the only explanation for the low pressure/fluid. Needless to say I have not been back to Palm Coast Auto Repair. read more

I have written a few reviews in Yelp, with some being very good and some quite negative, so I don't hold back if I've had a positive or a negative experience with a vendor of any kind. Palm Coast Auto Repair is one of those positive experiences! Firstly, I have had experience in the auto repair industry having been an ASE certified mechanic myself, although I did leave the industry many years ago. So this review is coming from an educated point of reference. Having said all this it's time to tell you about these guys. I moved to Florida a little over a year ago and found these folks because of the ASE certification they show in their ad and I have been going to them ever since. They have shown themselves to be as honest and utterly competent about repairs as any company can be and they never attempt to sell unneeded parts or services like many repair shops and dealers have been known to do. They are very reasonable in their prices and they keep their appointments and get you finished up when they say they will. Now everyone has a lapse here and there and this is an area where they really excel. In the rare event where an issue might arise, whether it's due to one of their suppliers or whatever, and it affects the repair, they will bend over backwards to make things perfect, with the least inconvenience and at no cost to the customer. Beware and be Warned, this repair garage is NOT HONEST and does terrible work. After over $1200.00 in top end engine work, I had an oil leak and my cruise control no longer worked. To make a long and bad story short. I was told by Ken the owner that the oil leak was not a mistake on there part. So, I went to another repair shop for a 2nd opinion and within 30 seconds and I am not kidding, he found and showed me the leak which was caused by Ken and his so called mechanics. This time Ken said bring it back again and we will take care of your leak and the cruise control. When I went back for my car Ken said they fixed the oil leak, but did not get to the cruise control and I need to bring it back AGAIN. A few day latter I check under the car and it was still leaking oil from the same place as before. Ken flat out lied to me, not once, but twice. He and his crew are not to be trusted. I would give 10 stars if I could . I took my car to Palm Coast / Flagler Chrysler Dealer for a routine oil change and tire rotation. I also asked that they checked the ATS light that was on since the new battery was installed in August. I was told to be there at 7:30 for they do not take appointments. By 8:45, car was not done, so I asked and was told mechanics don't come in till 0800. By 0915, still no car, but I watched complete chaos at the desk. Couldn't find my papers etc. At checkout I was told I needed a new ABS sensor, that the car was unsafe to drive and the cost would be over $800.00! That wasn't even the sensor that was illuminated. I went home and called Palm Coast Auto repair and was given a 2:00 pm appointment the same day! They took my car right in and within 30 minutes, they turned off the ATS light, something about a yaw sensor and there would be no charge as it was diagnostic. The service at Palm Coast auto repair was professional and organized. A family owned business who is obviously honest and takes pride in their work. I highly suggest you go to them, for that is who I will use from now on. read more
