Where do I start.. from the communication as soon as we booked our stay (special occasion, specific request, time of arrival) the resort was on top of it. I knew my gate code and room number prior to arrival. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very professional, enthusiastic and personable receptionist Linda. We were walked through the resort with amenities pointed out. Pool, Hot Tub, shared kitchen and made aware of continental breakfast. Then walked to our room as well as entering together, service above and beyond. Being adults only allows pool and hot tub to be enjoyed 24/7. The room was spotless and we even had complementary beverages and snacks. The grounds were well maintained with plenty of seating as well as Giant Umbrellas able to provide shade over the pool and hot tub if desired. Hotel California is a hidden gem. Team work makes the dream work. Decided to take a mini staycation Monday-Tuesday during the Veterans Day holiday 2025. Had to make the hotel decision quickly, it wasn't planned in advance. Hotel California was one of three choices and after looking at all three, Hotel California was the top choice of the three adult only boutique hotels. If you're looking for modern, look elsewhere. The hotel was built in the 40s, started as a brick built in with only four rooms. Through Booking.com I booked a King Poolside room with sliding door. The room included snacks as well as the in room coffee and other standard amenities. There was also soft drinks in the mini fridge but unsure if these were considered chargeable if they were consumed. They were left untouched in the mini fridge. Do your research Yelpers! Hotel California's website said that Continental breakfast was included. However, Booking.com was showing otherwise, additional charge to add breakfast. Wow, just wow. Be smart consumers and know what's included. Do not be fooled. This place offered complimentary early check in at 3pm. There's no private parking lot but first come first served reserved spaces in front and the side of the property. We were worried about not getting a space after returning from dinner but we're lucky to nab one of two spots remaining. The cellular signal wasn't great and I resisted using the hotel's free wifi. I try to avoid using free wifi anywhere. There's complimentary Continental breakfast from 7 - 10 am. The breakfast is cleared by 10 am sharp. The refrigerated goods are locked up in a mini countertop fridge with the packaged two pack of hard boiled eggs, yogurts, organic milk, fruit juices. Other packaged snacks included Otis Spunkmeyer muffins, granola bars, nuts, breakfast cereals, oatmeal, fruits, coffees, and teas. There's also free popcorn from the poolside popcorn cart. There's a heated pool and Jacuzzi, open 24 hours with towels, pool floats, sunscreens and lotions. Be mindful of other guests and keep the noise down late at night. We didn't encounter anyone else at the pool after 10 pm when we returned from dinner. There were also free beach cruiser usage with waiver agreement. The bikes have mounted baskets up front for storage of miscellaneous items. Also, check seat heights as they aren't quick change adjustable. Linda and Ann were so friendly and helpful. These two managers were great during our stay. There were a few annoyances but not deal breakers that caught my eye... FYI, the slider door lock was very frustrating! Very difficult to open with a physical key ($150 lost key fee mind you! DON'T LOSE THE KEY!!!). The lock need to be serviced and maintained. It was loose and I had so much trouble unlocking this door. I reported it to the manager who also confirmed this problem. The TV-SAT TV is terrible! This small flat screen is outdated. Other hotels have large flat screens on a console. Here it's mounted to the wall near the slider. I had to use two remote controls to watch TV. Silly, just silly. #YMMV read more

This was a beautiful property! Every time I pass by this hotel, I always say I wanna stay there! So this time we decided to make it happen!! The grounds are absolutely beautiful! Beautiful landscaping and so many hummingbirds flying around! The staff was very friendly and attentive... :) Spent a lot of time in the pool, which is a little small. I do think that it would be great if they could provide water in the kitchen or by the pool like some other hotels do instead of having to go to your room to get water especially since it is so hot outside! The room, however, is somewhat subpar, i've definitely stayed in nicer rooms! The bathroom is small.. i would equate it to a motel. AC worked which was great. The room also had a fridge and a microwave, which was also handy.. The "breakfast " was ok as well. The hard boiled eggs we got were not good. It's basic so do not expect anything fancy. Cereal, bagels, yogurt. I did love that there was a coffee maker in the room! Would probably stay here again if the price was right... read more

Continental breakfast but that's pretty much how I do it anyways. They also have free beverages and snacks in your hotel room which was lovely. From booking to check out, the process was easy. They email a code to enter the property before your check in. Terry, was fantastic. She checked me in, showed me the kitchen ( where light breakfast is provided). The property was beautiful and tidy. My room was clean and comfortable. Snacks , soda and water are provided at no additional cost. My ONLY complaint: SINGLE PLY TOILET PAPER. What? Are we third world? We are in Palm Springs, Dammit Get that DOUBLE PLY TOILET PAPER. I'd definitely come back, but I'll bring my own roll, lol. read more

They have another business, Riveria, owned by the same owners (Carrie) and I'll be staying with them as long as I visit Palm Springs. It is all heart. Recent renovations to most rooms and more to come. Amenities are amazing include bike usage, heated pool and hot tub within 2 miles of the foot of the mountain. Gorgeous views. Breakfast and assistance was 5-stars. Anything I needed, they provided like extra ziplocks, cokes, towels etc There are no up-charges for WiFi or anything. Parking is easy. It's small, 15 rooms? Quiet, cozy, and beyond friendly staff. We checked in on Saturday a bit earlier than normal and they were very accommodating. Our room keys were a bit late, and they offered us a complementary bottle of Prosecco for our troubles. I lived in Los Angeles for 14 years before I planned a Palm Springs trip. I always dreamed about Palm Springs as the ultimate mini vacation, and I wanted my first time there to be as amazing as I'd built it up in my mind. Hotel California delivered my fantasy getaway. My weekend there was incredible. The facility itself is attractive, well-maintained, and picture-perfect...it even has a "mission bell". The grounds are gorgeous - I loved the pool at night (it's open 24 hours). Our room was up-to-date, spotlessly clean, and decorated in a lovely modern western boho aesthetic. It's adults-only. That was a dealbreaker for me when choosing a hotel. I'll never forget a tweet from a comedian I read long ago - "If there's a sound worse than kids playing in a pool, I haven't heard it". It was a busy weekend, so there was chatter, but the other couples mostly kept to themselves and kicked back, and we all just relaxed by the pool in peace. It was rejuvenating. There's a Ralphs right down the street, so we stocked up on drinks and snacks for the weekend. There are mini fridges and microwaves in the rooms, but there's also a full kitchen that guests may use. Coffee and other refreshments are available there in the morning (one morning, there was a bottle of pink champagne on ice...really!) There's a game room with chess, a TV, and a wall of DVDs...but I dunno who would sit and watch movies with the beautiful pool steps away. There's also a hot tub and bicycles available. The staff is friendly and laid-back. They offered us refreshments (water, soda, beer) upon check-in. There are no rules about alcohol near the pool - bring your booze (just be sure to decant into the plastic glasses provided in the room or the kitchen). You park yourself, no additional charge. There's a small lot on the side of the hotel. Hotel California gave me one of the best weekends of my life. I can't wait to come back to make more wonderful memories. read more

What a gem! Absolutely amazing hotel. Actually, I wouldn't call it that. It's a peaceful oasis in what can be a pretty busy town. The peace and tranquility was so appreciated. We had Room 2 that was literally steps to the pool. We only took advantage of it one time along with the spa but it was lovely. The customer service is atrocious. The old lady, Terry, that is working the office is haggard and beyond rude. She was so rude, she wouldn't allow us to sit by the pool with friends. I could understand if we had to be quiet, but saying we can't sit there at all is insane. Mind you the pool was completely empty. She scolded my friend like he was a little kid and yelled his name. That is not how you treat a guest it's very inappropriate. I will never book this hotel. I do feel like she had a problem bc my girlfriend is Hispanic, and my friend that was with us is black. She literally threw a tantrum just from us walking in. So definitely don't stay here unless you want mean, most likely racist old ladies policing you the whole time you stay. We've stayed here 3 times now. The accommodations are great. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Quiet courtyard to come back to after a fun day. Love the communal kitchen area and breakfast foods for the morning. Basket of snacks and water in refrigerator are nice inside our room. Our room 11 looked over the pool and at the mountains. We also had a semi-private deck on our floor. Walking to a good restaurant and ice cream shop was great. We enjoyed the updated room; however the bed mattress could be updated and the shower head could be adjustable. Window in bathroom should be repaired to stay open for additional ventilation. A few fixes needed.Overall we will keep coming back to our favorite hotel in Palm Springs. read more

Why stay here? Top-flight staff. Very customer-oriented management. Little things like a comp basket of snacks in your room and soda/water in the mini-fridge. Just a ten minute drive or $20 Uber ride to downtown Palm Springs. Small (some would say quaint) hotel with just a few rooms so you won't just be a room number. A nice continental breakfast and stove/barbecue for guests to use If they would rather cook tan use the microwave or toaster in their room. Excellent chill vibe. Soothing outdoor fountain you can hear in your room. Save your Eagles jokes. They have heard them all. I LOVED this place. My wife and I drove out for our wedding anniversary. I enjoyed my stay at this down-to-earth, unpretentious hotel. I like the self-serve style of the kitchen. Other accoutrements include a grilling area behind the kitchen, an entertainment lounge, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and bicycles. The hotel room had all the basics: refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, digital television, hair dryer, etc. It was peaceful and quiet to sleep. Staff are personal and friendly. I would be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical at first, EVEN with the 5 star reviews. This is only because boutique hotels aren't my thing. Hotel California changed the game. I'm always booking the modern, sleek, fancier looking, main stream hotels, but I promise you, I will be staying here from now on. It's located minutes from downtown Palm Springs and is located in suuuch a quiet area away from all the noise. HOW PERFECT! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and such a warm welcome! A lady grab our bags and took them up for us. They offered us water, drinks, snacks, you name it! We felt at home and so welcomed! The house keepers were even so sweet and eager to help. The ambiance of this hotel was so tropical, palm trees everywhere. The Pool was clean and jacuzzi was nice. The property was actually bigger and nicer than the pictures show. The pictures online and on Yelp do not do this beautiful place justice. They even set out candles at night which set a whooole mood. Man oh man. The hotel holds about 12 or so rooms, so you meet and chat with other couples/families fairly easy. We all hung by the pool! This hotel is an adult only hotel which we loveeeddd. The quietness and being able to have anything you want to eat or drink by the pool was great. If you want to come to just relax, don't look any further. The rooms had everything you needed. They even welcome you with snacks and drinks in the fridge (all free!). Nice touches such as black out curtains were in the room. I meeeaann I can go on and on. I recently stayed here for a birthday weekend with my girlfriends, and I must say, this hotel is so cute!  The room was cozy, stylish and clean, and the staff was kind and attentive. I loved that this place is located nearby Downtown Palm Springs, but without the crowds and noise, yet it's only 15 Minutes from Palm Desert, too, for more shopping and entertainment. My favorite thing was that the pool is secluded with a tropical feel, so my girlfriends and I could relax outside during the day. I enjoyed the bed and breakfast type atmosphere here, and I will definitely come back here when I visit Palm Springs again! read more

A diamond in the rough! 18 unique rooms, indoor lounge, kitchen, pool and spa! The staff (Traci, Terry, Corbin, Letty ,Eric and Samantha) are welcoming, attentive but not overbearing. This is not a place to "party". It's quiet but still fun and the property will sometimes have a DJ for a few hours on some weekend nights. It is a 21+ facility with some exceptions and overall it was more like staying with family rather than at a chain hotel. We loved it and will definitely be returning. read more

Highly recommend Hotel California as it is a charming boutique hotel. The location has a handful of spacious rooms with details everywhere you look. Our room has a king size bed and plenty of space with a private entrance. There is a pool and jacuzzi which you can use throughout the day and night-Guests are respectful when swimming at night. There are bikes which you can borrow. The added touch was the candle lights through the property in the evening. There is a common kitchen with has many items to use plus barbecues for use. Kelly and Dawn are the concierges whom are very accommodating and welcoming. Here are a few recommendations Cheekys for breakfast and Del Ray for tapas and cocktails. We had a great stay at this boutique hotel. I do want to mention one thing that stood out. Your hotel manager Tracy was the best! I wish I had several Tracy's working for my company. She greeted us by name and took care of every detail. She checked in on us regularly and made sure we had everything we needed. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly. We've stayed here multiple times over the last 5 years and every single time has been excellent. The fact that it's kid free and small really helps keep it quiet and not crowded. You can always find a lounge chair and you never have to worry about too many people being rowdy and disruptive. You can absolutely have a great time and party but it's not overwhelming. We love that each room is a bit different so arriving is an adventure! We've stayed in most of the rooms and have favorites but not a single one has disappointed. We will avoid getting a room that is a "living room"/the living area of a bigger room, because the beds are pull out beds and not as comfortable. The staff are always friendly and each time we make friends with the other guests having a great time hanging out by the pool. The grocery is close by so you can run and grab some staples for your room and if you need a bigger area for like a gallon of milk, you can store it in the common area. They have grills you can use in the common area but no oven. Over all it's an excellent place and we highly recommend. read more

There is so much to tell, I don't even know where to begin. Welcome to your OFFICIAL HOTEL CALIFORNIA GUIDE TO HAPPINESS! LOL. This is a small boutique hotel, that was previously a ranch. There are only 14 rooms , which I love , and the integrity of the original ranch has been kept in tact. The decor gives me Southwest Ranch Motif. The parking is limited, yet abundant. Meaning the parking areas are small yet we never had a problem finding parking our entire stay. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Teri and Garret. They were so kind and delightful. Teri served us these delicious margaritas and my husband was SOLD. We all laughed and took pics together. Teri stated Garret was a new employee and hubby and I were both shocked. His customer service was EXCEPTIONAL just like hers! We were in Palm Springs on business and stayed in the Casita Room. This room is a 1 bedroom 2 bathroom w/ 2 double beds flat. Full kitchen and flat screen tv's with local cable channels were a plus, however the private entrance thru the private patio was a plus! PROS: 5 star customer service FREE Parking Clean Rooms Great Location FREE Bike Rental Classic rock playing in pool area Hot Tub Cons: - I wish they had streaming services but I got over it real quick lol - Our room was rustic, some might say dated but it worked great with the decor in my opinion. When the Eagles sang "you can never leave" they told the truth! We made it back home but our heart is still at Hotel California! The entire staff deserves a standing ovation!!! After reserving a room via booking.com, I was contacted by this hotel approximately 8 times asking for a check-in time. About 6 of those were voicemails coming from unlisted numbers (others were unlisted numbers by text and booking.com messages). Do I still have a reservation? I have already messaged them via booking.com, telling them I will be there and know I will be there before their office closes. Why are you still calling? After the 8th-ish time, I finally call them since I'm concerned they will cancel my room. An older woman answers who seems like she just woke up. She said she was at home and didn't know why I was called so many times. She is arguing that she, herself hasn't called me that many times. There was no apology or explanation about why they needed to know this. She's more argumentative and unprofessional and says "listen honey I run this hotel" ?!? "Listen honey" isn't the best phrasing for your guests. I'm already ticked off by all the calls and admittedly exasperated by this one; I again ask asked her why they called me so many times and that I wanted them to stop calling, but all she said was "wow, wow". This was one of the most condescending, unprofessional calls I've ever had. The old building means you will be woken up by upstairs guests walking around in a normal manner. EDIT: I just got another booking.com message asking what time I will check in, a day after I checked out. read more

An overnight stay in Palm Springs landed me at the Hotel California, my first experience at a boutique style hotel. Check-in was pleasant, the property manager was very friendly and accommodating. The complimentary Golden Road Mango Cart beer was a plus. The hotel grounds were clean, I enjoyed the lounge areas and greenery. The pool itself is small, but I enjoyed the fact that it is an adult only pool and plenty of lounge chairs were available. I did miss having a cabana with drinks. This hotel does not have a cabana bar. The room was nicely decorated, perfect for short stays with a small kitchenette. The only downside, the bed was very uncomfortable. Overall, my stay was good, I'd visit again for an overnight stay and try one of the other rooms out. read more

There are SO many wonderful things to say about this fabulous little gem in Palm Springs! The day before check in I received a phone call from Dawn to found out what time I'd be arriving and who was joining me. The next day, upon arrival, we were greeted by name, by Misty who offered us cold beverages and a tour of the cozy little 17-room boutique hotel. While we were on tour we ran into Dawn who greeted us with a warm smile and offered to take over the tour. Misty kept at it. It's nice to be overly accommodated. We went out on the town for a few hours and came back to a beautiful outside candlelit and twinkling light ambiance. Since it's off-season in Palm Springs in August, we had the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves. Everything was clean, beautiful and perfect. We stayed in the King Room - Poolside. We were about 3 steps from the pool and had two lounge chairs right outside the door marked with a sign, "Reserved for Room 2." We love seeing and staying at different places and don't usually stay in the same place more than once. But we may be back with a group! It is indeed a perfect spot for multiples to stay. You're in close proximity with each room (but not too close!) having a private outside entrance leading directly to the courtyard. Lots of lounging by the poolside and tables and chairs to share time together with friends and family. The entrances are beautiful and are gated, and locked at night. Parking is plentiful, at least it is in off season. Breakfast the next morning at Elmer's was the perfect ending to a perfect stay. read more

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I booked at room at Hotel California, but the Casita just blew me away. Spacious with enough room for my guest and I to spread out. Upon check in, we were shown around the property and encouraged to help ourselves to snacks from the community kitchen, much needed after a drive through the desert from Los Angeles. There was also a little bowl on the table top in our room (more like an apartment!) with snacks and cold beverages in the fridge. There are breakfast goodies in the community kitchen in the morning, but to be honest, it was my first trip to the Palm Springs and I was dying to try one of the many highly recommended breakfast places. I ran into a few of the other Hotel California guests while there, and everyone was lovely. The fact that this is an adult only hotel makes it the perfect desert hideaway for me, and I will absolutely be back! read more

Such a cute and quaint hotel with really nice amenities. Only a 4 minute drive to downtown. My husband and I were both very happy with our stay. We were welcomed by a very friendly lady who offered us some beverages. There were also complimentary snacks and drinks in our room which we appreciated! We booked room 16 which has the Murphy queen bed downstairs in the corner by the pool. It's very clean and pleasing to the eye. We appreciated the blackout curtains, flat screen TV with Roku (you'd have to sign in to your own streaming network account but there are also live TV channels to watch), big modern shower, and kitchenette, which has a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine, coffee and creamer, and mugs. We could hear footsteps from the guests above us and it did not bother us, but something to be aware of in case you are a very light sleeper. Then perhaps an upstairs room would be more suitable, but I'd recommend this hotel nonetheless! There is also a communal kitchen where you can make coffee, tea, or hot chocolate any time. There's a water dispenser so you can fill up your water bottle too. This is also where they have a continental breakfast (toast, bagels, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, orange juice, milk, oatmeal, fruit, etc.) which you can take to your room or enjoy at one of the tables in their lovely courtyard. We didn't use the pool or hot tub but I noticed there were plenty of towels, sunscreen, pool noodles, and even a big floatie that guests may use. Maybe it's because we visited in cold November, but the pool area was generally quiet. Great customer service, delightful amenities, and clean hotel grounds. Highly recommend. read more
