Went for a friends birthday and it was super chill. They have a B rating on the door so would be careful of ordering food. I know my friend ordered the pizza and wasn't happy. The rooms are spacious and clean. Multiple TVs which makes it easy to sing along. They had some tambourines which we shaked to our hearts content. Lots of Korean songs and didn't have as expansive of a library for English songs as other places, but still had a blast belting the ballads and bops they did have. read more

I went here for my birthday and had a fantastic time. Food: I don't remember honestly and don't think we ordered any food there as we had just come from KBBQ down the street. Service: They were very attentive and I was able to get a reservation, check in and pay without any issues. There was a bottle of champagne included with the birthday package price which was nice and got the night started. Ambiance: It's a nice, clean space and the private rooms are a great spot to sing - I can't honestly think of anything negative about this place. If you're looking for a reasonably priced spot to sing for a couple of hours without strangers ogling you, give this place a try! read more

Upon entering, I would say that this place gives me mixed reviews, the atmosphere was definitely there! The service was great, and the prices per hour for karaoke is not shabby at all! My concerns were the prices for the other things, like the food the alcohol and bottle service that they provided for us, it could've been priced a lot competitively. I arrived at night and was wondering why it was still empty, would recommend this place if you are looking to spend lots of money!!! Wouldn't recommend for anyone looking for a budget Karaoke place, other than that, it was a great place would good atmosphere. read more

I was not remotely mistaken. I'd been going to Palm Tree for years. It's completely changed. I 100% was charged a 30% auto-gratuity, overcharged in general, and rushed out before our time was up. We witnessed numerous people coming in with what appeared to be prostitutes, to the point my girlfriend felt uncomfortable even going to the bathroom alone -- and while I was waiting outside for her, the staff gave me a hard time just for waiting politely for her. The fact that the owner would attempt to gaslight in response, only makes me more disgusted by what's become of this business. read more

Hosted my friendsgiving here this year and it was an absolute blast! We got a standard room for 6 people with the soju and beer package. For our entree we ordered the bulgogi rice which was AMAZING. They also let us bring some of our own food due to some dietary restrictions in our party which was so kind. They offer tambourines too which is such a great add!! The package typically comes with 2 hours of karaoke but bc we had so much fun we added another hour. Jerry was our waiter and very nice as was the rest of the staff. If you're looking for something fun and different to do with a group this is the move! Only downside is the automatically applied gratuity which is kind of hefty. Horrible service. Came with a group but we ended up wanting to go to a different location. We were there for less than 15 mins yet they tried charging us for half an hour. They tried saying we couldn't afford it when that wasn't the issue we were just trying to go to a different location. Horrible management. Wouldn't recommend at all They could've handled it way better but instead they insulted us, not only that but they wanted us to stay after the horrible/ rude service that their manger offered. Why would we stay at a place where the atmosphere didn't feel right. Not only that we tried paying in cash but they wouldn't let us. We tried paying for staying for ONLY 15 mins MAX. Tried to leave to go to a different karaoke spot, and they wouldn't let us leave even though we tried to tell them we didn't touch anything and decided right when we got in. Horrible management and said we couldn't afford the karaoke here. Made us pay and wouldn't let us pay cash...? It's confusing but don't come here. **Update after their response: they told us they would allow our two friends in that aren't 21 after we told them we changed our mind, but we said no because they are not of age and we would go somewhere else. So I don't really understand the "following the laws" comment they put down. We didn't understand why we were getting charged if we did not use any of the services and were trying to get someone that spoke English to communicate with us during the time we were there to ask questions. Take it how you want to take it, but an establishment not allowing you to change your mind when you get there and didn't use their service is not customer service in any way. We got charged for 30 minutes btw and a food platter but we didn't use the room or ate any of the food.... lol. read more

When you walk in, the vibes just screams fun and those vibes carries throughout your time at Palm Tree Karaoke. As a foodie, of course we drank a lil and snacked on all of our fav finger foods. Our private karaoke room was super spacious and clean!! The music selection was up to date and the service was fast. This is a great spot for small and large groups. The other karaoke places make you pay up front for a bunch of drinks, but here you can just order what you want. Our group of 3 enjoyed that very much! Of all the karaoke places in K-town, please don't settle for this one. It's very clear they're trying to rebrand on Yelp given the influx of 5 star reviews in the last 5-6 months. My experience most closely aligned with the reviews dated before then. First of all, I tried to request a reservation and received a text message requesting my credit card info via text to confirm my reservation. I am very cautious about my card info and opted to walk in instead. When my group and I arrived, we were quickly ushered into a room. I thought this was great given we didn't have a reservation. That's where the positive review ends. We were told we had to buy a package and were walked to the room without being handed a menu or an explanation of our options. Once we were in our room, a server came in and asked what flavor soju we wanted. We answered, he said he'd bring coors light, but we requested the Korean beer instead. The server brought those drinks and a fruit platter and disappeared. No overview of the controls, remote, settings etc. which you typically get when using karaoke rooms. Our servers were never to be seen again until our time was almost up. The server came in saying they needed a card now, handed mine over and they came back with the receipt and my card. The charges included a service charge. The package listed was the standard room, which includes 2 hours, the drinks mentioned above, fruit and an entree. The entree never came nor was it offered. Again, no menu available anywhere. Today when I looked at the receipt I noticed the service charge, and the package was one line item so I looked online to confirm we were billed for the right package since we were never handed a menu or package description. The package was not described on the receipt at all. Additionally, I didn't see the mandatory/ unilaterally added service charge listed anywhere. I normally don't question those charges if they're on a menu and are tied to a policy that's clearly outlined for customers. This was not the case at palm tree. I sent a text message looking to clarify the charges to the number that initially reached out regarding my initial request to book a room in advance. The person responded and I tried to explain my confusion. The person called me and introduced himself as the manager. I was so glad to see they were trying to communicate and answered, thanking them for reaching out before I explained anything. That call ended up making matters much worse. The manager was condescending. I tried to explain that we were not clear as to what our package included and that we were charged a service fee without any explanation. We also never received any food other than the fruit platter, despite the online descriptions stating an entree was included. I repeatedly explained that we were never offered a selection, menu, or any type of service. After several repetitive explanations, I became frustrated and asked if customers were expected to beg for service to which he answered "yes, just like a hotel". After which I said, wow okay and hung up. Obviously nothing to discuss if that's their understanding of what service should consist of. Karaoke rooms are not hotels despite the motel activity going on at this location. (Yes, the hooker reviews are true. Leather clad escorts, others in school girl mini skirts, and some in teeny weeny night club-esque dresses run rampant.) He then followed up our call via text saying it was his day off and that I should be glad he every contacted me today - as if I should have access to his schedule. I also noted I thought it was a business phone given they requested credit card info via text from that number. If you do book in advance, be on the lookout for any fraudulent charges. It's not normal or acceptable to request credit card info from a cell number. Most places either don't require this or you book online in a secure and private site. Overall very disappointed. This feels like a cover operation for the sex work that happens here, with money grabs and bait and switch tactics used on paying customers who really only come for karaoke. Wonder what the 5 star reviewers received in exchange for the positive reviews- there's no way they were submitted by customers paying full price. This is a good karaoke spot with typical prices for K-town but actually friendlier & more personable staff than most! The system with the drinks minimum is what it is, when I'm not in the mood for an extravagant alcohol soaked party I just go to the mall in little Tokyo, but this spot is nice for that classic Korean karaoke atmosphere. I also wanted to make a comment referencing some negative reviews talking about "escorts". Korean karaoke bars do not allow escorts. If you see attractive women wearing heels, they are karaoke hostesses, and their job is to sing and bring a celebratory atmosphere for parties that are looking for that. Calling them escorts is just misogynistic and kind of xenophobic honestly. read more

We got the large which was more than enough for our party of 6. It is made up of anchovy broth with shrimp, half of a crab, mussels, clams, zucchini, kabocha squash, & potato. The shining star of the show for me, however, is Hangari's Bossam that is made up of boiled pork belly served with crunchy bite-sized cabbage, pickles, and sweet and spicy radish. I think Hangari Kalguksu should change their name to Hangari Bossam... Hahaha!!! I'm just kidding, but yes, I think it is that good and so satisfying to make your own personalized Bossam bites (wrapping the meat in cabbage and adding toppings to it) that I like to eat along with the banchan they provide which includes Kimchi. If you drink alcohol, it pairs well with sips of Makgeolli and Korean beer. Not mixed together, but sipped separately and taking turns between bites. I feel it really enhances the flavors of the food. Eating all of this simple yet decadent food and throwing back the Makgeolli and beer in between bites kind of transported me to how I imagine the royalty feasted during the Joseon Dynasty! At the end, I was so happy, satisfied, and luxuriating in my fullness!!! I didn't want to get up and end this feeling of bliss. We never felt rushed, but I'm so glad we got there before the dinner rush because as we walked out of the restaurant, the line outside the door was getting very long. Make sure you get there before 5pm to have a better chance of getting seated right away and to avoid having to wait in such a long line. This is in fact a popular dining destination for good reason.

They handed out menus and took your order when you were close to the front. Once seated inside, they welcomed you with their signature banchan dishes: the nutty boribap (보리밥), which tastes great on its own but even better with their yeolmu kimchi (radish water kimchi). There's also their tasty radish kimchi and napa kimchi. Throughout the meal, they replenished our banchan multiple times without us asking. We tried two of the new items: Galbi Kalguksu: A delicious, deep-flavored bone broth with knife-cut noodles, shredded fried egg, sliced radish, and scallions. The meat fell off the bone, and I loved the broth, though my husband thought it was a little on the saltier side. Perilla Oil Makguksu: Cold buckwheat noodles in perilla oil. Mixed with sliced shiitake mushrooms, shredded perilla leaf, gim (seaweed), sesame seeds, and scallions. It's a deliciously light refreshing dish if you don't want the heavy knife-cut noodle dishes. Last, I ordered the Non-spicy Seafood Kalguksu. It comes with a anchovy broth with a lot of seafood flavors. It's a lighter broth than the galbi but still rich in flavor. It came with clams, mussels, shrimps and 1/2 crab. There was also sliced pumpkin and zucchini. Everything tasted great. Their servers were very attentive and generous with replenishing the side dishes, and overall it was a wonderful experience. If you see a line and don't mind waiting 15-30 minutes, it moves pretty quickly, so don't be deterred by it.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

Walking in, I expected absolute chaos because of all the hype, but the restaurant wasn't overwhelmingly busy. There were actually quite a few empty tables waiting for later reservations. I understand that's how reservations work, but it did make me wonder if some of the "impossible to book" reputation is a bit overblown. The space itself is beautiful. The live wood-fired grill in the center of the dining room is definitely the highlight, and I loved the communal tables that create a warm, lively atmosphere. The warm cornbread with cultured butter was easily the best thing we ordered and an absolute must. It arrived piping hot, incredibly fluffy, with just the right amount of sweetness, and paired perfectly with the rich, creamy butter. The baby albacore was outstanding--fresh, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. It practically melted in my mouth. The beef and eggplant stew, served with fresh tortillas, was another winner: rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. The only dish that didn't really land for me was the pork chop. The cut wasn't my favorite and, despite being cooked well, it tasted surprisingly underseasoned. The mashed potatoes, however, were silky, buttery, and honestly the best part of that plate. Dessert was enjoyable, especially the warm skillet cake with vanilla ice cream, but like much of the meal, it was very good rather than unforgettable. One thing that did catch me off guard was the automatic 4% surcharge added to the bill. It's disclosed, but it's still something to be aware of before dining. Overall, Dunsmoor is absolutely a five-star restaurant. The ingredients are top quality, the execution is thoughtful, the service is polished, and the atmosphere is unique. I just don't personally understand the level of hype surrounding it. I'm glad I finally experienced it, but it's not the kind of place where I'll be watching for the next reservation release. I am thrilled to share my review of Palm Tree and Kiyoung and Paul's service tonight, as my experience there was nothing short of magnificent. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the neat and amazing environment of the place, which set the tone for a truly memorable evening. The standout feature of the experience, however, was the impeccable service provided by Kiyoung and Paul. Their attention to detail was truly impressive, and they went out of their way to make sure every aspect of our visit was enjoyable. Whether it was providing menu recommendations or ensuring our drinks were always topped up, their service was simply superb. Of course, no review of this venue would be complete without mentioning the food. I can confidently say that the dishes we tried were some of the tastiest I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and it was clear that a lot of care and attention had gone into the preparation of each dish. Overall, I cannot recommend this place so highly enough. BUT make sure to come early since a lot of people seem to come here as 2nd rounds after drinking at bars in ktown. When we got there there were not many people but the guy who was running it seemed to be in a rush and very quickly gave us instructions for how to use the machine that's in Korean. We had trouble getting songs qued and when we asked for help he got upset with us and would be very irritated if we asked any clarifying questions. With no help from him we wasted the first 10 minutes trying to figure it out. Finally he came back and was nice and showed us how to do it finally. We were having a great time when and hour and a half in someone comes in to tell us that we need to hurry up because other are waiting. Mind you there is no time limit and like 20 other rooms. I doubt we had been there the longest. So although my boyfriend and I still had fun the service was horrible and they only had a kpop and pop selection for music. Still fun but something to note. Overall fair price

But the rooms here feel cleaner than average. The couches are a little cleaner and nicer than average. And the ventilation seems a little better as well. Even the restrooms seem a little cleaner. But to our surprise they only had it in Japanese! Tooooo bad as we wanted to sing many other songs in English. In fact, I believe most of the customers that come here are also not Japanese speaking... So having only Japanese karaoke songs is my only complaint and why I had to dock one star.

He made us laugh through the night when ever he stopped by. We stopped in for some appetizers and cocktails before dinner . We ordered fried calamari and fried chicken katsu, Both were deliciously crispy. We wanted to try karaoke, at $3 a song left a distaste in our mouths.
