Upon entering it seems like just a basic dive-y bar with colorful lights. They had a drink that was totally my taste which is the strawberry fields. It had calpico and yakult in it. It was pretty good and low alcohol content. I really wanted to do karaoke and at $40 an hour, it was def a deal. Each person does however have to also order a drink which ranges from $13-$15. Service was below average but I would definitely return just for the karaoke. It's nothing fancy and it's booth seating but I had fun nonetheless and would 100% return based on pricing. Cute little bar in the corner of a plaza. Tried their elixir flight and it was a fun and interesting experience. They all have some sort of health benefit so expect some strong and herbal flavors. A dimly-lit bar tucked away in a plaza. There is a parking lot, but it's more fun to scooter to this spot. The parking can get packed and, like most parking in LA, it costs. The staff is welcoming, but in a casual-cool manner. There's different type of seating; stools at the bar, two high tables for groups of 4 to 6, and smaller tables for intimate seating. At most, holds about 30 people comfortably. The drinks are unique and tasty with decent prices ,especially during happy hour. I dont typically get anything to eat, but if you're in the mood to sing; they've got a karaoke room! You can vaguely hear the karaoke room when you're drinking in the bar cause they have a separate set of music playing that still allows you to carry conversation. We entered here on a Friday night and it seems like a very lowkey bar. The space was pretty small, but also not that many people. I liked how they were playing a lot of the edm songs I like such as illenium, so this was the right kind of vibe for me haha. Overall very chill bar. Although the drinks here are very light. You don't really taste the alcohol, so if you like fruity drinks that doesn't have that much alcohol, you'll like it here. The strawberry fields was a nice mixture, but a bit sweet. Alice was a wonderful bartender. She had a great personality. And the vibes immaculate. I loved the music selection... the crowd was a vibe. Vaguely magic-themed bar in a KTown strip mall. Came here on a Saturday night around 9 to grab a quick drink after dinner with 3 other friends and were able to seat ourselves immediately. There are karaoke rooms in the back. There's high top tables and bar seating available (only indoors). The employees were all friendly. If you write a review on Yelp, you can get a free shot (I didn't partake in this while I was there unfortunately. We split a flight of elixirs, which were healthy alcoholic shots (that's the best way to describe them). There were 6 different shots with an oz of each alcohol in each vial. The garlic was the worst one for me, as it was drinking hot garlic juice, and the goji was the best one. It was fun to try weird flavors with friends, but I wouldn't order a flight for myself. The other cocktails they had looked cute and later on in the night, there was a sparkler situation for a bday celebration happening at the table next to us. What a useless gimmick, the small vial of supposed "potion" to add luster to your drink. Really? The drinks themselves were so devoid of taste, a mist of alcohol, basically juices, at $18 a pop, not cool. Even dive bars serve more actual alcohol in a drink without the pretentions. Medicinal liqueur? Sign me up! While I'm not sure how healthy these shots actually are, the marketing definitely worked on me. My friend and I split the Elixir Flight for $40 and had a very fun time trying all of them. Reading the health benefits of each right before drinking was certainly a great way to feel good about an otherwise unhealthy activity. The Elixir Flight included a taste of all of their elixirs in test tubes (6 in total). Ours included Ume Plum, Lespedeza Cuenata, Ginseng, Goji Berry, Jujube, and Garlic. The bartender recommended ordering a chaser (or two) to go with it, so we ended up with some cranberry juice and Sprite. All of the elixirs are said to be high in antioxidants, and rich in vitamins and minerals. In addition, each has their own set of health benefits specific to the ingredients included. While we didn't stay here long, our time spent was quite memorable. Potions & Poisons is a pretty unique spot to grab a drink at. My favorite of the night had of have been the Garlic. Service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. While I'm not particularly into cocktails (or elixir shots), I would not be opposed to returning. read more

I'll give this place one star for the Purple and Gold drink I got which was pretty and decent tasting. Where they lose the rest of the stars for me is the service and experience. I came here for their karaoke rooms and was told that we would have to purchase a bottle that was $250 in order to use their rooms. Definitely steep considering this place is not upscale and more on the dive bar side. We ended up agreeing to a deal where we could have the room for two hours if everyone in my group purchased at minimum one drink each. Great! I'd rather get cocktails than be forced to take shots. So we're in the room singing and drinking when a male employee comes into the room rather rudely demanding that we tell him if we want to extend our time another hour and that we had to tell him "now" as we were already "20 minutes over." Not sure why he took that tone with us as usually it's quite normal to tell the group prior on how much time we have left and if we wanted to extend our time. As customers, we're not usually keeping track of time so I'd imagine it's the employees who have to track the time on their own and when a group is almost done with a room. The next thing that I didn't care for was that I went to line up in the bathroom and after waiting about 7 or so minutes, another girl in line and I were knocking on the door to make sure someone was in fact in the one room bathroom. After a few seconds, the door opens to a girl asking us to give her a couple more minutes. A bartender/security guy came up at the same time to tell her to get out as there was a line forming. The girl then walked out of the bathroom and another guy followed behind her who was inside the bathroom with her and all three of them went back to an employee only room. Not only is it ridiculous that there was a guy and girl hogging the ONE bathroom but the fact that it was EMPLOYEES doing so. Definitely will not return. The drinks and decor are not that nice to make up for the horrible service. read more

It's a small hidden gem with a door that's just slightly difficult to find but once you find it, you'll be in for a great night -- it gives me speakeasy vibes which I LOVE. But I heard they do book quickly. You can just tell that this place was well thought out -- the aesthetic is unique and the ambiance makes for a chill yet thrilling experience.
