The food isn't bad that's not my issue. I always get the same sandwich when I go. The last two times I went I returned with the wrong meat. Even that's not a big deal. However in the past 3 months my grinder went from $8 to 8.50 then to $9 and then again to $9.50 and today straight to $11. That's a 37.5% jump in price in 3 months. $8 was reasonable and I would have kept coming. $9.50 was keeping me away. $11 will just keep me away for good. Sorry guys. Please advertise if you drop the prices back down to normal. read more

STOP going to Gerardo's for your cannolis. Palma's has the best cannoli in Central Mass, by far. They fill them when you come in so they're not sitting out for days (unlike Wholly Cannoli right down the street), and they are very reasonably priced. They have great sandwiches and salads as well and you always get a lot of food for the price. They are cheaper or on par with other sandwich places in the area, and they are always fresh. People have to remember that this is a small business and not Panera Bread, so it's normal that they're raising prices as their business has probably been affected due to the pandemic. read more

Being Italian and growing up in East Boston had me surrounded by wonderful bakeries and amazing bread. When we moved out here last year I tried to find Italian bread but only found it in the supermarket - which is not italian bread. The Italian bakeries in Shrewsbury do not make bread, just pastry. I'd beg my mother to bring me bread from Boston but really wanted a place out here. My neighbor told me to try Palma's so we did and we are hooked. The bread is amazing but so are the sandwiches and cold cuts. It instantly reminded me of home, especially because we got the bread right out of the oven. Do not understand all the hype/positive glowing reviews and recommendations for this place. I've tried three subs from here - all highly recommended - and all disappointing. The Italian combo was average, nothing special. The much talked about meatball sub tasted funky, meatballs had a strange unidentifiable flavor which detracted from the overall taste, and the marinara sauce was loaded with salt. Huge let down, didn't even eat one half. The mozzarella & prosciutto was okay, but the tomato was way under-ripe. My brother and I stopped into Palma's Bakery today for the first time. Our grandmother was named Palma and we figured, how could we go wrong here? And boy are we glad we did. We tried a freshly made sandwich from the deli and also picked up some traditional Italian cookies. First and foremost, the team at Palma's was AWESOME! Starting with the very nice woman to the young guy making the sandwiches. We chatted with them about our families and they made you feel right at home. The sandwiches were simply one of the ABSOLUTE BEST sandwiches we've had in a long time! We both tried the "Bella Panini" which was prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, olive oil and herbs on the freshest bread ever! We both sat in and ate there. It was delicious! They also have a full expresso coffee bar as well. Honestly, I think we just found our new favorite bakery and will most definitely be going back when we're in Worcester! I'm consistently surprised with how good the Italian delis/markets in this area are and Palma's is no exception. The sandwiches are enormous and very good. We ordered their classic take on the Italian sub, as well as a prosciutto and fresh mozzarella sandwich that we had toasted. Both were served on what I think is a ciabatta sub roll and they certainly aren't skimping on the ingredients. Worcester is really a cool city with pockets of great stuff. I am fortunate to have to travel there a few times each month for work. I found Palma's by mistake...had gotten a bit lost trying to get from downtown to the Rt 122 Pike entrance. I was sitting at a traffic light on Grafton St, stomach rumbling, and just caught a glimpse of their sign, pointing to the right. I took a chance and am really glad I did. Palma's is an authentic Italian store featuring sandwiches, dessert, expresso, and grocery items. I had a grilled chicken and peppers with lettuce (shredded!) and tomatos. Fresh and delicious. The sub rolls were a step above the usual, unless you are buying a sub from New Deal Fruit in Revere, or Pace and Sons in the North End.
