I ordered a cappuccino, zero foam, the coffee was good , not great or excellent. Expected better. Pastry was a type of berliner donut with vanilla pastry cream. My advice, do what you do best coffee. Stay off the bakery products, not up to standard. The dough had not risen properly, so it tasted tough and denser for being a fried donut with vanilla cream. I don't recommend buying the pastry, I am sticking with the coffee. read more

Seriously wonderful food. I go for espresso and a box of calzones. The simplicity is the brilliance of these savory hand pies. They reheat wonderfully and are such a treat. I'm not much on sweet pastries but have bought some very special items in the past that were delicious and unlike anything you will find elsewhere. As a die-hard Texan, I will catch hell for saying this... but I prefer these to kolaches. I know, I know. Back when the owner had a pop-up type location, I had the opportunity to chat with him while waiting for coffee. He was so sincere and grateful for his success. Very humbling man to talk to. He chatted about his culinary inspirations and on one occasion, his father. They have grown so much and it is always crazy busy, so no more chit chat. Go early for best selection and buy enough of the pastries to enjoy them all week! Oh, one more thing... I love this cute little Italian cafe. We ordered Americanos on two visits and each time they were done perfectly. They have a cute outdoor patio and a walk up window so you can order with your dog (a big plus in my book) and grab a seat at a cafe table. I loved the savory pastries. I tried the tomato mozzarella and spinach and ricotta. The puff pastry is done to perfection. The chai lattes are also great and the people who work there were very nice. I have been wanting to try this place each time I come to the Dallas Farmers Market but the line is always so long. But I decided to wait it out and finally try it. I ordered everything to go. I got the mocha coffee and it was made very well. I ordered one of the dark chocolate crescents and one vanilla crescent. The lady behind the counter told me the chocolate was the beat of the two and she was not wrong. Out of the 3 people I was splitting these between we all agreed the chocolate was best. I read about this café in the Dallas Morning News a few weeks ago. Being of Italian descent, I had to check it out. My friend and I literally purchased one of everything that was for sale that day. Sweet Pastry The sweet pastries are divine. Most are vanilla cream filled or chocolate cream filled pastries. The cream is lighter than a traditional pastry cream and more delicate. I think the owner sometimes offers fruit filled pastries too but on the day we went, they were all cream filled. I found them all to be excellent but especially loved what looked like a cream filled donut. The dough was soft and warm with a granulated sugar topping. And the vanilla cream was warm and light as a feather. If I lived closer to the Farmer's Market...I would be in trouble because I would get one of those every day. Loved it! Savory Pastry There were several types of savoy pastry. Two were made with puff pastry. One was filled with spinach/ricotta and the other was a tomato/basil/cheese filling. Both excellent but I especially loved the spinach/ricotta. The puff pastry was perfect baked and the filling was light and flavorful and simple. There were also two types of calzones. One was with chicken (mild and spicy) and the other was beef (mild and spicy). We loved them both too but our favorite was the spicy chicken. It had some nice briny flavor from the olives and was just exceptionally tasty. The spicy beef was very good too. The "spicy" is still mild by Texas standards and not overpowering at all. If you are looking for hot, hot spice, you will need to bring your own peppers. The spicy on both items just had a moderate kick. The dough is worth noting as well. It had a soft, nice chew to it for a calzone. Many places use pizza dough. This was softer and more flavorful than that. The dough and filling worked well together to make a very nice calzone. Coffee They are doing pour-over coffee right now until the storefront opens. But wow...GREAT cup of coffee. The owner, Corrado Palmieri, hand selects the coffee beans and his process for doing a pour over yields nothing short than a great cup of coffee. We both had 3 cups of coffee there with our food. That is how much we loved it. I look forward to when the storefront opens and the menu expands. Hopefully in the future Corrado Palmieri will include sandwiches and other savory food items to his menu. read more

I had coffee for the first time in a cafe by a carousel in Florence when I was 14. I come from a family of strict tea drinkers and that first sip of velvety cappuccino was a practically religious experience for me. I had that again today at Palmieri. Very rarely do I get to experience coffee that wonderful in the US. I don't know what's wrong with us! Frequently the espresso taste bitter or burnt and becomes unpleasant. Not at Palmieri! It was a tiny, perfectly sized cup of delicious perfection. I promised them I would tell them how I enjoyed the coffee, but they were busy as we were leaving so I'm leaving a review instead. My fiancé is a coffee perfectionist and loved it as well. I don't know as much, I just know what tastes good! We also had a couple of their pastries which were crazy delicious as well. Their spinach ricotta pastry was especially delicious. It didn't have that tinny frozen spinach taste at all and was more like a pesto. I wish we lived in Dallas so we could eat here all the time, but we'll have to settle for every few months. But, if you have the pleasure of living nearby you'll be making a big mistake if you don't make a visit to Palmieri as soon as possible. read more

The flavor was a bit bland and pretty much all the tomato sauce spilled out as soon as I bit into it. Everything else was great, for savory, I recommend the Beef and Parmesan Calzone.
