We had the best time at Odd Society, and I am still smiling two days later. Initially perplexed,…read moresince our Uber dropped us off one block away, we had no idea where we were in the dark of the Canadian night. Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. Alas, we had reservations at Lunch Lady up the street. We should have stayed at Odd Society. Lunch Lady was a disappointment. Try Odd Society out as both a distillery and cocktail bar. You won't be disappointed about either one.

I have a friend who loves to drink so when he was back in town, I bookmarked this place to bring…read morehim to as I saw many great reviews and pictures. In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

Also, it's a good idea to come after a hearty meal to fully appreciate the alcohol. The theme is all around you, and you're suddenly in Hawaii, ready to order a mai tai. We began with the mystery bowl, and each bowl comes with its own unique song and flair, making it a fun experience. Whether it's the fire, the smoke show, or the lights flashing in the background as everyone turns to see what you've ordered, it's all part of the show. Besides the bowls, be sure to order your own drinks, as they have something for everyone. Their menu is easy to read, so you can already picture the drink you're about to enjoy. Overall, this is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion with their whimsical drinks.

It is the worse hard liquor I have ever bought. Lavender?? No, just some slightly amber gin that I can't even mix with anything. Whitley Niell makes a great Parma Lavender Gin that I first tried in a cocktail in Portsmouth UK. It isn't sold in Canada anymore unfortunately and was only for a short period. That was the reason I snapped up the Roots and Wings gin but I am resigned to using it for cleaning. I did try some of their other products and only the Abisnstine impressed me. I would have loved to have given a great review of their liquor but that wasn't possible. Drinking their cocktails is a different thing as they have a great mixologist. My advice- visit them, get a sample before buying, and buy only what tastes good to you. Everyone has different tastes.

I was the only there since it was 1pm on a Monday after all. Was about to grab to an Old Fashion after looking at their online menu, but was then told that they did flights so that's what I got. The flight; You choose six from a list of about 15. They do primarily vodka, but they do have some whiskey, gin, and even am Absinthe. I was very happy with all 6 and would order them again. I won't really go into any detail about each spirit since everyone has their own preference when it comes to alcohol. What I can say is that their Old Fashioned Spirit was my favorite. The service: The person working at the time was really friendly and helpful. Willing to answer questions about the spirits and make recommendations. The distillery: It's small and due to Covid Protocols they're only accepting 6 people in the building; however, they have a lot of outdoor space to enjoy. Their pick-up truck bar is the most eye catching so that's where we sat. I'd 100% come back here and if I lived in Langley I'd probably make this place one of my go to hangouts.

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

We sat indoors with the option to be seated outdoors with heated lamps but we didn't want to smell the smoke from people smoking outside. We ordered the Dark Spell Latte, Albedo Spritz, and Final Word. The Dark Spell Latte is like an espresso martini with chocolate syrup added, which is pretty solid. The Albedo Spritz is a red wine cocktail with hard liquor, and stood out to me as they had 5oz of alcohol so this was fairly strong, but I would imagine most of the ounces came from the wine itself. I liked the gold dusted blackberry. The Final Word is fruity and smoky, which I enjoyed, but not warrant a hefty price tag compared to the other drinks. Service is decent and in line with other restaurant bars. Overall, solid drinks at okay prices that I can see myself recommending this spot. Given the name, it would be great to see more alchemy themed cocktails or decor as what draws me as a frequent bar goer is themed and unique drinks.

Just an A+ experience all around. All I can say is WOW!!! I'm a huge fan of Indian cuisine, so I've tried a bunch of Indian restaurants, but this is one of the top! I've never had Indian food this good. The chef knows his stuff. I think the reason why the food is so good is how much heart and soul they put into their cooking. You can taste the passion in every mouthful, and it makes the whole experience even more special. Forget about the ordinary Indian places you've been to; Clove takes things to a whole new level. The flavours here are unlike anything you've ever tasted. Actually talking about it is making me hungry for them again. You can tell there's real thought, real skill, real flavour behind everything. Food of course speaks for itself, nothing I could beat anywhere else! Clove is one of those rare places that gets everything right -- atmosphere, service, mocktails, and food. The ambiance is stunning, and you're immediately greeted by warm, welcoming staff. And if you want the full experience, ask for Simran. She's the star of the show. Perfect recommendations, amazing service, and just genuinely makes you feel welcomed. She deserves all the praise! All the flavours hit the right notes in a perfect symphony. Every dish is packed with flavour, and you can really tell how much thought goes into the ingredients and cooking. The flavours are bold but well balanced, and nothing feels overdone. Each course stands out on its own, and everything tastes consistently excellent. For the main course, we had the butter chicken and wow -- it was incredible. The quality, spice, and flavour were off the charts. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with flavour, easily the best we've had around here. The butter naans, cheese naans and garlic naans were the perfect sides -- soft, warm, and just the right amount of indulgent. And the presentation speaks for itself in the pictures. The food quality is nothing short of exceptional--each dish is a masterpiece, crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients and presented with an artistic flair. Every dish is a testament to the chef's mastery and passion for Indian cuisine. One bite of the Amritsari Cod Pakora and you'll be hooked! You won't be able to stop eating them! When the mocktails (Lycheenis, Blue Caribbean, Pineapple Mango Margarita) are looking this good, you know they taste even better. The Berry-licious Gajrela was the best fix for my sweet tooth! Every dish was expertly prepared, and the flavours were spot on. The entire team works together seamlessly to create an unforgettable atmosphere. This place is the epitome of customer service. The seamless teamwork between them, coupled with impeccable professionalism, added a personal touch to our visit. What truly sets Clove apart is its unwavering commitment to providing impeccable service. The service is outstanding; the staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, ensuring that every detail is perfect and that you feel welcomed and well-cared for throughout your meal. Textures, flavours, spice, presentation - it was all outstanding. We honestly wanted to order every item on the menu...that's how great everything tasted. There's so much love in every dish and you can taste it immediately. I cannot speak highly enough of the service, especially Simran. The only thing better than the delicious food and the beautiful ambience, is the lovely staff that treats everyone like family. Highly recommend if you're craving Indian comfort food done right. A general rule I have is never go to a restaurant that has no one eating in it and when we came here we thought it might be closed because there were so few people only two tables occupied. Despite the place being empty the surly older women who greeted us made us do go to the front desk and do a reservation. We had two mocktails that were huge but bland (a complaint also made by another table), a appitizer that was pretty but rather than bland and that despite being cold and there literally be no other tables at that point it took 25 minutes to get and then we were served after almost an hour two of the most over salted dishes I have ever been served in a restaurant. I don't know if the cook didn't taste the dish or there is something deeply wrong with their palate but after a few bites neither of us could continue to it. We told both our younger server and the surly women that it was inedible and the surly woman just laughed which was nuts and the younger woman offered to have them "fix" it which I don't know how you fix an OVER SALTED dish with remaking it completely. While we aren't Indian, I have lived in Indian and have been adopted by aunties and ammas from both the north and the south and there is no way my Keralian dish nor my spouse's Punjabi dish should have tasted the way it did. Even after sending both dishes back barely eaten they still tried to make us pay for them only giving us 15 percent off a meal where again we could not eat our entrees. To top it off half way through our meal the surly women decided to spray airfresher right behind us which felt extremely rude and smelled disgusting. The other server claimed they had a "water leak" from the roof and the sole other table complained of a smell. I have no idea what these people's issue is but you can't have food that bad and be that rude even if you are in the heart of a large Indian population that will support you no matter how bad you are.
