I usually have all good things to say about Tejas. I ordered the Birria Pizza and Carne Asada Fries. They close at 9. I ordered around 8:10. I was told it would take 10-15 minutes. I arrived at 10:30. Food was sitting on the counter. I live down the street. I get home, the food is lukewarm warm. The Fries were soggy and smaller the portion was smaller than usual. Also the birria pizza use to come in pizza boxes. Now it's in a metal container. Same price, smaller product. The Birria gravy was horrible. Almost like I could taste the spicket water used to make it. Kinda feel like you were prepared to close but still chose to take my order and gave me subpar service. And for $40 for fries and pizza I would expect it to be made correctly. read more

We came here on Cinco de Mayo and this place exceeded our expectations! Newly renovated from the previous owners the decor is now modernized and they had a little place set up outside with extra seating. The service was excellent- our waitress checked up on us 3 different times. Me and my boyfriend ordered the 3 steak tacos (Mexican style) which all had a nice portion of steak. I ordered a Paloma which had a nice amount of tequila with grapefruit soda. They also offered a complementary basket of chips with beans and dips on the side. Small, unassuming joint at the end of a dark strip mall. They are under expansion but the current dining area is clean and welcoming. We have been twice now and realize that most people order here for take out, but we enjoy sitting in and bringing our tequila and pineapple juice that we can pour right at the table. If you bring margarita mix and booze, they will make your drink at the bar! We just prefer to make our own. So far we have tried the birria tacos, two wet burritos, and a couple of tostados. All were beautifully presented, fresh and flavorful! The guacamole app is also delicious and worth the $15! We spend about $40 without tip and really enjoy coming here. I have been to Tejas twice for brunch. The food is consistently great and the service is accommodating. Our table of five enjoyed tres leches French toast, breakfast burritos, eggs to order, apple cobbler French toast, ... All were delicious! I would give 5 stars but the coffee is very weak. I went on a Wednesday for the Birria tacos. I ordered beef and my partner got shrimp, both to go ! The ambiance and decorating in the restaurant was very beautiful. The food was prepared very fast which was great! I was a little shocked by the pricing of the shrimp birria at $23 dollars, considering when we got the tacos there were very few shrimp in them. After years of ordering for delivery, I finally went in on their $2 Taco Tuesday and the restaurant was nice and clean. We were sat instantly. It was surprisingly empty inside but was very busy for delivery orders. We brought our own tequila and mix which they took back to the kitchen and mixed into the pitcher for us. Ordered guacamole, 1 set of pollo tacos, 1 set of tinga tacos, and 1 set of carnitas tacos. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our server was amazing. Wow! A go to spot for my co workersand I! A newly renovated space with great servers who know the menu and specials. Great recommendations and the Birra is our favorite of course. I will never go here again. I have been going to Tejas for more than 13 years now (through their new and then closed location and even recent owner change). I will never go back and give them another dollar. I was excited when I moved closer to go to Tejas grill more and saw their recent decor and ownership change (mother passed the business to her son). Since then I have tried to continue going and supporting them but today was straw that broke the camels back. This new Tejas is inconsistent in their pricing, food and policies and just rude. A couple months ago me and my husband got a babysitter and headed over for dinner. We walked in at 8:20 (they close at 9) and there was a woman mopping the floor. She told us one second and went to talk to another woman behind the counter in Spanish. I guess they assumed because I'm brown I don't speak Spanish but I do. In Spanish they talked and agreed they started to clean already and didn't want to take our order but would tell us they were only doing take out. The girl originally behind the counter comes up and in English says that they are only doing take out now. Another Latino family came in behind us and heard the same and left. It was rude, lazy and bad business but I wasn't going to hold two worker's rudeness against the business and still came back. About a month ago my family placed a lunch order picked it up and when we got home there was no salsa. We made do and decided it was probably a mistake and we'd go back. A week or so later we placed a large dinner order and when I picked it up I asked for salsa. The girl checking me out turns around to another woman and again in Spanish tells the girl to only put one small container of each type in the bag. I say back in Spanish to please give two of each because it's a large order for 5 people. After all that I got home only to find part of our order was missing and I couldn't drive the 20 mins back before they closed. I called and was told I could come back tomorrow to pick up my sides. There was no offer to refund the price of the sides back since I paid by card or any other proposal. The overall experience was horrible but still I went back. Today we placed a lunch order and I went in to pick it up. A girl with a curly ponytail took my name and confirmed my order. I asked if there was salsa in the bag already and was told: no salsa costs extra, is this okay? I calmly said no that is not okay I needed salsa to eat my food. She then in a very condescending and rude way tells me that "salsa only comes with tacos and nachos and if I eat in the restaurant. It's 75 cents to get one red and green salsa." At this point I want to cancel my food completely but since she already has my cash in her hands I say fine. Only for her to then charge me $1.75 instead without saying anything and then giving me change. I tried multiple times to support this business despite disappointment after disappointment, but this was really the last straw. It's so hard to make money nowadays and people have a choice on where to spend it. I refuse to continue to give my hard earned money to be continually treated so poorly and rudely by staff and not even get what I'm paying for. This is not a one off. This is not an anomaly; this is how Tejas grill is now; this is the new norm: rude workers, ever changing policies and prices with inconsistent experiences. I will not be going back. The only reason my rating isn't zero is because the food is mostly good. read more

The food here is fantastic and reasonably priced. Forget 1/2 of the reviews on this page because the place has drastically changed to a beautiful dining room and a clean organized kitchen. The burritos (wet and dry) are excellent. So are the Fajitas and quesadillas. We took friends there and the next time they visited they requested we go there for dinner again. I feel lucky we have such an excellent and fairly priced Mexican restaurant so close to home. Service is good and the place never seems to be too crowded. Dinner for 4 last night ran $65. I've been coming here off and on for over 15 years and in the beginning it was hit or miss with the food. I believe the restaurant changed hands several years ago and it is being run like a restaurant. The food is delicious and consistent. My wife and I come here at least once a week now and enjoy it. Great authentic tacos. The outside doesn't look like much, being it's located in a strip mall, but the food speaks for itself. I really enjoy their al pastor tacos and quesadillas. These are both authentic, not Americanized. The prices have increased slightly over the years, but the food is worth it. I typically order take out, but there are a few tables if you prefer to eat in. Make sure you also order your Mexican Coke. My Fiancé had been searching for good birria tacos forever. We had originally planned to head into Philly on a Friday afternoon but it turned out the place we were planning on going was closed! After a lot of research, this place popped up. We were skeptical but we decided to give it a shot and we were both happy we did. We got chicken flautas, guacamole, 2 kinds of tostadas and of course, an order of birria tacos. The guacamole, in my opinion was too citrusy and could use some more spice. I would not order it again. Everything else was phenomenal. My fiancé loved his birria tacos and I will definitely be returning for the spicy chicken tostada. Fair warning, it does have a good kick to it! If you come here at night time like I did, you'd be a little spooked because the parking lot is empty. Nonetheless, the restaurant itself was decent in appearance. There are many tables for different group sizes if you want to eat in. The menu features pretty much anything you'd get a Mexican restaurant ( tacos flautas etc) . I selected the Tortas as I am usually getting tacos at mexicans places. I asked the nice waitress if she would recommend the Milanese Chicken torta or the beef. She suggested the chicken. I've eaten Tortas at other places but for some reason this one stood out. It was delicious and included my now favorite vegetable: Avocado. This sandwich will be the reason I keep coming back here. We love the Huaraches , something I have never heard of before until we started going a few years ago, if you are looking for white linen tablecloths this may not be the place for you.
