I had a great experience at Palumbo's. My 2021 Explorer needed a front passenger CV axle replacement after the boot tore, and I was worried it might turn into a long expensive list. Instead, they were straight with me: fixed what actually needed fixing, confirmed the ball joint was fine, and didn't push extra repairs. I went ahead with brakes and rotors all around too. Everything was clearly itemized, the work was done professionally, and the 24,000-mile warranty plus parts warranty made me feel confident I'm set for a while. Pricing was fair and matched what I was expecting for a full brake/rotor job on an SUV. Jenna was a standout -- friendly, organized, and proactive. She even called to follow up when she didn't receive my email. That level of care matters. Steve (Owner) was also fantastic! Stopped by Palumbo's yesterday (10/18/23) with my 2007 Vette for problems with the tire pressure system. A gentleman named Kyle helped me out. First, one of the workers name Kyle Is so nice and knowledgeable, he definitely cares about the business. Now my story: there are two places in Bear that sell General tires near Palumbo's. They both quoted me a price well over $1300. Palumbo's does not deal with General. But I ask Kyle if he could special order a tire that they don't carry and he said yes. I originally went in to get my AC looked at, was blowing hot air. That was the only thing wrong with my vehicle. Spent $150.00 for them to service the AC. They said they found a leak and fixed it. Was leaving their parking lot and my air bag censor light was showing red. Went directly back to them and they said my censor was bad. Paid $375.00 to fix it. The AC lasted about a week and was blowing hot air out again. Took it back, they said not only was their a leak but now they were saying my AC compressor and AC clutch was shot. They said the compressor alone was $514.00. I called auto zone same part $213.00. $300.00 profit on one part. Told them don't touch it. Bringing it somewhere else. Again. First brought it there only had AC blowing out hot air. All of a sudden numerous other problems.. COINCIDENCE??? Makes you go.. HMMMMMM!! read more

I am very thankful for Mr. Palumbo, who was a tremendous help to me with a difficult tire and wheel problem when I was 700 miles from home. He spent a significant amount of time tracking down possible solutions and having me back on the road by the end of the day. He did this knowing that the odds of my becoming a regular customer are nil, but he still spent the time and energy to help. Had my car hear on several occasions but the place just seems to keep getting worse and worse. Used to provide good service with compeditive prices but not anymore. Recently had to have my car towed to closest shop that was open and decided to give it another shot. While they fixed the problem, I knew that once they saw my car show up being towed I was done. I ordered tires through the Veteran's Canteen Service, then called Palumbo's to confirm they were in. I was told the tires were in and no appt was needed, just walk in. I get there a couple hours later and was told they couldn't do anything for me because the ONLY person who knows how to do these transactions is not there. I had to come BACK today (over an hour drive) to get my tires. Secondly, I was told on the phone it WOULD NOT BE OVER $100 for mounting/balancing. I'm told today it is $134 due to TPMS. I would have had no problem with this if I was told up front, but I wasn't, plus already had to drive an hour out of my way and wasted the time I took off work yesterday. Finally, this is the fourth or fifth set of tires we have got here between my wife and I (definitely the LAST set) and every set of tires we've had installed was not filled to what it should be, no where near it, I'm talking load range E truck tires inflated to 30 PSI, instead of 65PSI written in the door jamb or 85psi written on tire. read more

Be careful when they quote you a price. I had my car in to be fixed. They quoted me a price for the work and I agreed to it. When they finished the work, they charged me about the $100 more than what they quoted me. They told me it was a charge to diagnose the problem and an additional part that they never mentioned. I don't understand how they didn't add in the diagnosis charge into the quote. As for the additional part, they should have said something to me instead of just increasing my cost by so much. It just seems dishonest to me. read more

We were traveling down I95 on our way to Maryland and we heard a squealing noise. Stopped at the travel center and saw rear brake smoking. Figured it was a seized caliper. I knew Palumbos was close so we drove there. On the drive, they said they could certainly look at it. Arrived and they got it right in. Came back within 30min of arrival with fair quote. Back on the road within 2 ish hours, new caliper, pads and rotor (by choice). I can't schedule an appt and get that fast of service most places. Give them a shot!!! read more

Was a customer for over 10 years. Had my daughter take my car in with a slow leak in the front passenger tire for repair. They said it was unfixable so I needed a new tire. We had it replaced. When my daughter got home, they replaced the wrong tire and I still had the leak. When I told them they replaced the wrong tire that had no leak, they said it did. They wouldn't own up to their mistake. They scammed my teenage daughter because they could get away with it. Avoid at all costs. read more

I know we live in America where free enterprise is part of our basic freedoms. But my granddaughter brought her car to Palumbo's to fix a flat tire. They charged her $49 to repair a flat tire. On Sunday night my tire went flat and my insurance company had it towed... To the incorrect location mind you. I'm sure we had called two different places three times on Monday morning trying to find my car. Finally, the insurance company had gotten it towed to this location. As soon as my car was dropped off I received a call from a gentleman named Colton. Very sweet and seemed sincere. He told me that the had checked my obvious flat tire, but the other two tires were low on tread. He gave me a few prices, but I asked him if he could call my partner because she was going to be handling everything. He was very confident in his response and said yes he would be more than happy to give her a call. They spoke about our options and he was very knowledgeable and helpful regarding the tires we needed. Throughout the day he was very accommodating and helpful with all of our questions. Colton really went above and beyond to help us and to ensure we were able to pick up my car that day! Such a genuine guy and if he didn't know the answer he got us one right away. They definitely gained a loyal customer and that's all because of the service we received from Colton that day. I would recommend this company to anyone and to ask for him!! read more

Quoted $58 for 1 installed used tire ($232) + oil change $39 total on phone by Kyle. Dropped off at 11:30am I added that I had the spare tire on and that I needed it back under the car. No call that it was done, so I went to the shop and waited at 3:00pm they close at 4:00pm. Once there car was in bay but not worked on. 1 customer (female)came in and thanked them profusely for fitting her in and paid for their lunch. Another customer (female)came in and thanked for getting done so quickly. Both times they pulled the customer cars in front of the shop for them. I questioned the modified price of the oil change to $44.95 as well as the price to put the spare tire back on $25.00 total price $324.22. Also my car did not get pulled in front like everyone elses. I had to walk to mine that was parked in the parking lot. Also the tires that they said they had to fit my car was mysteriously mislabeled how a tire was mislabeled I do not know but I didn't get the original tires that was supposed to be on the car P245/65R17 105T I received P245/70R17 108S and they said that they were an upgrade for the same price. Even though I know 105T and 108S is not the same speed rating, and I do not know if the tread depth were the same. But I thank them for taking off the tires that I had on because the wires were showing on all (4) tires but I would not use them ever again. So far no such thing as a honest mechanic I am still looking. Oh and I received the keys to my car at 3:55pm. I did not see them when they put it in the parking lot.
