I have taken Alphie to Pampered Paws twice, and both times I have absolutely loved what they have done to him. Alphie is not a big fan of people. He's even been banned from Petsmart's grooming salon because the workers didn't want to deal with him. However, in Pampered Paws, I was told he got along with the staff very well which is very pleasing to hear. It's usually a good sign when Alphie doesn't have any problems interacting with people. Honestly, I'm not too surprised because the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Moreover, I love the cage-free environment they have. Alphie doesn't have experience with cages at home. In Petsmart, they used to cage him up and he would come out looking very traumatized. It's just so upsetting to see, so I'm glad he's able to freely roam around in Pampered Paws like he does at home. Overall, I'm super happy with the service here and I will definitely bring Alphie back! I should also add, the price isn't bad either. I feel like cage-free grooming salons usually up their price because of the cage-free aesthetics, but I'm glad Pampered Paws are reasonable with their price. read more

I bring my Shih Tzu here for grooming. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. My dog usually is groomed by Nikki or Luisa, both do a great job! He leaves happy and whenever we do come back for a grooming appointment he always runs to the door. That is a great sign! He isn't afraid so this shows me that they treat him well. Thank goodness!!! I've been living in Brooklyn for 3 years, and have finally found a boarding facility that meets my needs and expectations! I travel semi regularly for work, and have switched boarders several times for various reasons, including not being able to reach the office when they were closed, even though their office hours said they would be open and I went to pick up my dog- that whole ordeal cost me 3 hours of work, the vet was rude and there was little apology. Prior to them, the last time I picked my dog up from another vet office who offer boarding, he was covered in his own piss, needing a bath, and I needed a change of clothes for myself before I could head out to work that day. There are not many places that offer boarding, and some that do, charge astronomical prices. Pampered Paws is reasonably priced. Vinny, who greeted me and Moose was very kind and welcoming. I dropped Moose on Thursday and picked him up on Monday- they even bathed him! He was socialized with other dogs and had a bunch of toys to play with! (Or destroy, as it were) I am very grateful to have found a reliable place to care for my beloved boy. This grants me such a relief! Thank you! read more

This is an outstanding place for grooming! I recently moved to Brooklyn from Kentucky and really worried about finding another groomer I could trust with my two small shih tzus! They were in need of a full on groom and upon calling them, they were able to get them both in the same day. I love the openness of the salon so the dogs can interact with other dogs and aren't locked in cages like I've seen at other places. Hi Luisa, At first, I'd like to thank you for your comment and clarifying what had happened. I, however, think your long reply was a bit emotional with a tone of being offended of how I rated your business. Meanwhile, as a business owner, you should be glad when a customer writes the downfalls of your practice so you/ your staff work on improving them. Please know that I do understand you care for animals to be in such difficult business. If you read my review thoroughly, I wrote "the owner was very professional over the phone." I also indicated briefly on how I totally understand that cats are miserable when they are out of their homes regardless. I didn't expect to come and see Armani playing or sitting in someone's lap. Please note that I don't go around writing bad reviews and butchering stars out of businesses for silly reasons. I only do so when I have a really bad experience. Now back to the subject and I'll try to make it brief. Here is what I think: * Pampered Paws is not equipped to accept cats for boarding. For dogs, yes it does work wonderfully. But to put a cat in a huge cage that fits German Shepard as you mentioned being surrounded by dogs barking around him will absolutely freak out any cat. I believe cats should be in separate designated room away from dogs. * Your staff need to communicated better. I was supposed to be informed of the incident about the other dog barking at Armani and why was he put in the bathroom (by Vinny or any of your staff) upon picking him up. I was only directed to go to the backyard to pick him up which was a bathroom adjacent to the backyard. I don't work for the city to come and inspect your backyard or know if that bathroom is in use to store pets temporarily. * By the way, I am not supposed to call you and ask why is my cat traumatized and resolve what exactly? I came to your place because you had great reviews and here I am writing about my pet's experience. I go by facts, and the fact is Armani was traumatized upon picking him up! * I am changing the rating to 3 stars because of the video you posted on FB. I was pleased to see a caring hand pet him. read more

I just got my pet groomed today, he looks and smells great. He's a big Pomeranian (20lbs) and the price was very reasonable. The owner herself has a pom and did a wonderful job. I had used a groomer in NJ who butchered my dogs fur, he looked like a fox it took almost 6 months for his fur to grow back to its original length. I'm so glad I took him here, they were very prompt and efficient grooming my little guy. I will be back again. read more

I was dog sitting for my girlfriends dog, and thought I'd surprise her with having Gia groomed. After reading the reviews here I thought I'd give PP a try. I'm glad I did. I was able to get an appointment the morning of, and took her in. The owner was very nice and welcomed me and Gia when we arrived. I handed Gia over, and was very impressed by the way she was handled...welcomed with a kiss (the dog, not me). I gave instructions and was told it would take 2-3 hours. While Gia was being groomed, my girlfriend picked me up, and a bit later I was called to pick up the little princess. She was surprised and we both were very happy with how the cut turned out. Gia, as always, was happy to see us. She was not at all stressed, and seemed just fine...an indication that she was treated well and was comfortable. Price was reasonable as well. Though Gia lives in Long Island, we may continue bringing Gia here (she spends weekends in Bklyn with me). I recommend PP...and would be remiss in not mentioning the groomer, Nickie, who did a great job. read more

My puppy has done his first grooming at Pampered Paws. His hair style isn't what I was expected; but I believe it's not the groomer's fault cuz my puppy was so annoying during grooming period ). The spa is clean, and it's close to 71st D train subway station. They provide a space for puppies to play during grooming time. The owner seems nice but that's about all I can say. 1. I think they need to stick to grooming; not breeding. 2. The grooming was ok. Looked good until we got home & noticed it was uneven. 3. She's just a puppy & we told them to let us know if she's not sitting still. When we went back to pick her up we were told she was super good & didn't move. Ok. A little weird as she's always active. That night we noticed her left eye turned super red & the next day the right eye. Not knowing what it was I took her to the vet. The vet said the pup was too stressed out over the grooming. She must of been very active & they forced her to sit still or something. Her eyes were horrible. So now I was stuck with a high grooming bill plus a vet bill. No thank you. Edit to the response... You said my puppy moved too much. That's fine BUT when we picked her up that and asked you guys how she was and if she gave you guys a hard time... all of you said she was a good puppy and didn't cause problems. I took my 5 month old Poochon there horrible service. Before I brought her in I asked how much it would cost they told me based on her weight which was 4 pounds only $60 I said ok, I should've known from reading some of the reviews that the price might change and it did they charged me $76 claiming she was extremely matted which was complete BS. They gave her a basic haircut you would expect from the groomers at your local PetCO. My advice to anyone who uses this establishment beware they suck! My dogs hair will grow back but this experience will last forever. read more

WOW, is all I can say (in a good way!!). We have two dogs, a 12 year old golden retreiver/chow, and a 12 year old terrier/schnauzer mix named Jackson that we just adopted a few months ago (what kind of creep gets rid of a 12 year old dog??). The chow has arthritis and Jackson is a bit tempermental, so we absolutely did not want to cage them. That's why we chose Pampered Paws. We were THRILLED with how wonderful the dogs turned out, especially Jackson, who FREAKS if we even go near him with a hairbrush. When we brought them in, we even told them that if they weren't able to handle Jackson due to his behavior, we totally understood. We left convinced that we would receive a phone call saying they weren't able to do Jackson because he scratched/bit/tried to murder them, but were SHOCKED when we arrived to pick them up and...Jackson was bathed and groomed from head to toe! He was calm, too, and didn't even rush to leave. He was happy. Casey, our golden/chow, was also happy and looked beautiful. They must be Dr. Doolittle in this place, because they did a wonderful job!! We had such a great experience and the dogs were obviously so happy, that we actually switched dog walkers and hired them. Soooo I took my two kids here for a bath and boy where they smelly! I have a 5 yr old Yorkie Bailey who is very pregnant and my room mates dog Jack Daniels who is about 9 months old. This was his first grooming experience and he looks so handsome! I called and spoke with Luisa and she was so sweet, and I was able to get them in yesterday. She went over the pricing with me, and was very detailed so I didn't have any surprises. It was very reasonable for what I have been finding to groom two dogs that are about 8 lbs. I loved the place because it was very open and all the dogs were in a penn styled environment and they weren't caged, there was no barking what so ever which was a shock to me! Every other place has dogs howling and its so loud, but they only barked when they wanted you to pet them! They also asked me if it were ok to put Bailey in a crate if the other dogs bothered her being that she is pregnant, and I said it wasn't a problem. I felt really confident leaving my dogs with them. I told them they needed a new look for the summer since they are long haired dogs and just shave them down and just to do what they thought was best, we aren't picky, we just wanted them clean! A few hours later I picked them up and was so happy to see them! They smelled wonderful and looked so cute for summer! Especially Jack Daniels with his huge ears! I will def be bringing my babies back there with the way they came back, and they also told me they didn't need to put Bails in a crate so I thought that was really nice. The only issue I wasn't too fond of is the door, you have to wait for someone to come open the door for you and there is no door handle, the door is always locked. I suppose is good or bad but I was just confused trying to get in, other than that I will be telling every pet owner in my area about this place and will be a regular customer! I love the service and the people there. They accommodate all dogs and breeds, especially if they have a heart condition or any medical condition they will take really good care of them. I took my dog here two days ago and he came out INCREDIBLY HANDSOME! I was so happy and thrilled to see how clean and shaven he was! The groomer, Vinny, was amazing! Even better was the owner! She is incredibly nice, kind, and sweet. Unlike other owners, you can ACTUALLY talk to her. Other owners don't take two min to talk to their customers, but she was, honestly, down to earth. She genuinely loves animals. The prices are more than fair; I took my dog to Petco and they asked for $85! She even threw in a facial for my dog =). I loved seeing all the dogs playing with each other too. Even cats haha. It was very cute! My dog had no problem warming up to the owner, groomer, and the other gentleman who helps there too. One of the employees, Vinny, regularly takes care of my cats in my home (we live two blocks away), and on many occasions, I left my dog there for daycare. I have never experienced anything other than the most professional and conscientious care for my pets from Pampered Paws. The owner is kind and accommodating; the staff flexible and helpful. So today I was looking on Google and Yelp for a dog groomer near me and came across this one I figure it was a long shot but do to the positive comments I decided to call and ask them if the could squeeze Shaggy in for an appointment today and they said sure how does 1pm sound? I was excited cause he really needed a cut and nervous cause it was my first time bringing him to them. When I arrived in saw a few dogs playing together and nicely groomed. I met with luisa the owner and explained to her that he doesn't get along with too many dogs and also how I wanted his cut. They even gave me some great ideas. When I went back to pick him up to my surprise he was right there playing with the other dogs. I was so happy to see that and soooo impressed at the fact that they were able to get him to counteract with the other dogs it made my day, and he even had the exact cut that I wanted they even gave me some care tips. They were very kind and professional and they got my business I am now going to be a regular customer from now on. Words can not describe the gratitude we have for Luisa for the care she gave to our house full of pets. When planning our family vacation we had no idea who was going to take care of our little zoo, then Luisa came to our rescue. We have 3 dogs, 4 cats and 2 birds. Two of our dogs are extremely protective and do not easily accept strangers into the house. When Luisa came for the first house visit we could see from the minute she walked in that the dogs were completely at ease and accepted her into their pack. We were gone for 9 days and Luisa cared for our pets as if they were her own. And our house as if it was hers. She went totally above and beyond anything we could have expected. First time bringing my dog here and while it is a trek from where I live, I highly recommend pampered paws! The service and attention is worth the travel and it costs half as much as Petco. They don't cage your dogs and spend at least 2-3 hrs giving your dog plenty of breaks if they need it! I was very satisfied with the results. read more

I was afraid to bring my pup to any grooming salon, until I found Pampered Paws NY, because I've heard so many trauma stories of grooming salons treating pets horribly and traumatizing them. When my bf and I took my tiny Yorkie Poo puppy to this place, I only hoped that he'd be treated with extra care, since it was his first time ever at a grooming salon. Luisa greeted my puppy with so much love already as we walked in the salon. The salon is clean and cozy, and best for all it is CAGE FREE. When we picked him up after 2 hours, my pup not only looked super cute, clean, smelling wonderful, but also trauma free. You could tell how well he was being treated. He was all happy and was playing with another dog at a play area. We are so glad we found this wonderful salon, and Luisa even posts pictures of your pet's grooming session at their facebook, which is btw really cute pictures. I will begin my review by saying I really wanted to like this place because the owner does seem friendly, however they have disappointed me one to many times. The cut itself is OK. I have a cocker spaniel and he has been groomed by a different person each time (it seems like there is different staff each time I have gone-red flag if u ask me). A few mths ago I go to pick my dog up and was told he had to stay a while because the groomer cut his pad- it was bad. I waited about 15mins and was told it was ok to leave. He bled for another 2hrs after I left... I forgave the groomer because hey, mistakes happen and she appeared genuinely concerned. Then I get a call a week later from the owner herself who wanted to see how he was doing..she then proceeded to tell me she fired the groomer because she found out she was HITTING THE ANIMALS!! Again, like a fool I took him back there... I appreciated her honesty and felt I shouldn't one persons mistake against the business. When I picked him up he was hiding under the register and look terrified. When I got home I noticed one eye was really red, teary, and he could not open it. They also did not trim his nails! I regret ever giving this place my business and trusting them with my dog. read more

Pampered Paws is the best place for all your pet needs, I had to go away on vacation and was blessed to find Luisa who took great care of my three cats. As there are three of them an one is on medication I asked that they stay in my apartment and she come each day to care for them. Luisa goes above and beyond in all things, not only did she come each and every day to feed and clean up after my babies she took the time to administer three different medications plus a special diet to my oldest cat whom I have had more then half my life, my Frisky is 18 and does not like strangers but took to Luisa as if he had known her his whole life. She also took at least an hour each day after all the care to interact with my cats and play with them. I came home from vacation to three EXTREMELY happy kitties who usually get very mad when I have to leave them alone. The best experience ever for me!!!
