I would like to start off that I visited this place after reading all the reviews, even the 3 negative reviews that are visible to the public and the 21 positive reviews that are "not recommended" and "blocked" for some reason (if you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see the blocked reviews). I only went to this place because the main complaints from the negative reviews are basically the groomers, not the owner, all 3 negative reviews all say the owner is nice, sweet, etc....they are basically saying that her help is the problem. So, from reading the reviews and all the positive ones say how great a "Luisa" is, (I put two and two together and figured out that she's the owner) I figured why not hunt her down and ask a few questions and get a feel of her business. So, since I have had bad experiences at other salons because the owners themselves are nasty I decided to give this place a look and support someone who is nice, sweet and is in the business because they care about the animals. I went to see her this past Friday, we spoke for nearly an hour! Wow, she told me so much and I can understand her stress level and how tough it is to run a business. She told me she has this business for four years and built it from the ground up, she has a great following, all of whom she has gained herself. Though, she has gotten to the point where she is very busy and can't possibly groom all the dogs herself, so she did what any owner would do and hire extra help. But, the main problem people don't care about the business like she does, the help basically is there for the pay, the more dogs they groom, the more money they make so they don't put the time and effort into the grooming like they should be doing. She told me she has had so many groomers come in and out of her store because they don't do what she expects and she's not going to keep workers who give her business a bad name. She has fired groomers for man handling dogs, for cutting dogs or for not knowing how to groom to standard. So, now I see why one of the reviews on here state that "every time she came into Pampered Paws there were new groomers and that should be a red flag???" That's not a red flag! You should understand finding good help nowadays is really hard. The owner told me that she has a groomer she absolutely loves, Bella, but Bella is moving to Florida and she had a similar experience happen to her last year with another groomer she loved,the girl got up and moved....so the only help that stays are the ones who give her business a bad name. Luisa told me she constantly explains to her groomers that if they "screw up" it's not them getting the bad name, but Pampered Paws itself. She also tells them that they can move on to another business, start fresh and grow from there, but the damage they do at her business remains at her business and can scar her, because she's the one who is getting the negative write ups on Yelp, not her groomers. She explains a big pet peeve is how she has a groomer who for some reason always "forgets to do the dog's nails" and when she notices and tells him, he seems annoyed that he has to do the nails, mind you that's one of the big complaints in the negative reviews that I read on here. That's something basic that he should know how to do, it's not something that the owner or the client should point out to him. So, please give this place a shot, just like I did, I wasn't going to pass up this place after reading 3 reviews about the "groomers". The "groomers" aren't a permanent landmark here, but the owner is, so why pass this place up? At other salons in the area (which I have gone to before here and have left very disappointed, I wrote them up too, so you can read my reviews from my profile) I had bad experiences with the owners of the facility, someone whom I'm paying to keep in business who I feel like don't appreciate it. That is why I left them and was on the hunt for a new place to bring my little Freddy to get pampered. Anyway, Luisa had Bella groom my Dog and I was extremely pleased! The girl is sweet and knows what she is doing. Luisa said once Bella leaves she's going to groom my dog unless she finds another "Bella" who she can trust to groom my dog. Luisa said she will keep her hunt going for a perfect staff, so if she keeps having new people come in and out of her doors, then that's what she will need to happen. So, to me that's a positive thing, not something that would raise a flag for me, I would be more concerned if she keeps people who can't do the job right. read more

My girl and I got ourselves a GoldenDoodle and he's gotten so big and his hair is out of control, to be honest we didn't know how much work it was to take care of this breed. My gf follows trends and everyone in the city and downtown have this breed, so guess what? She busted my chops and got me to buy this breed as our first "kid" together. Anyway, we thought we did an okay job brushing him and all but when we came to Pampered Paws for a grooming their groomer Nikki had a consultation with us and showed us the base of his coat, she separated the hair and showed us all his matting. We honestly didn't see it, didn't even know the base was that bad. My girl wanted Nikki to give our dog Jade a crazy cut, but Nikki said she couldn't do the groom and leave the hair that long and fluffy because of the condition of his coat. My girl wasn't happy to hear that, but I told her let the groomer do what she has to do. Nikki told us if she were to brush out Jade and take all the matting out it will take hours and she will be pulling on Jade's skin and that will hurt him and will ruin future grooms because then Jade would associate grooming with pain and wouldn't want to be groomed again. She also said that doing the she can irritate or burn his skin in the process. Now, once my girl heard this she said, "Fine, do what you have to do." So, unfortunately we came back to pick our dog up to find him half the size and his coat really really short, but it was to be expected. Nikki promised us if we kept up with the brushing daily and used the correct tools that the next groom she can do whatever we wanted. So, we did come back for a second groom, Nikki said there was a huge improvement, still there was matting but not as bad as the first groom, so at this point she was willing to brush out whatever matting was on Jade and leave him fuller and nicer looking. So, comparing the first groom and second groom, we obviously loved the second groom, the first one he looked like a rat but there was no other option, the second he looked like a stunning dude. We definitely will be returning clients here. We appreciate the time and attention Nikki gave us, it shows she cares. read more

This was my first visit to Pampered Paws and I am very satisfied. I called before they opened and was able to make an appointment for that day so I appreciated that. Then I got to meet Vinny who was trimming the face of another dog or who he referred to as a "client" when I arrived with my dog. I was impressed with Vinny and how he gently commanded the "client's" good behavior as he trimmed the face! He was also very welcoming to my dog along with Dominick who said he would be bathing her. As I filled out the paperwork he asked what he should know about her and I explained at her last grooming her eye was scratched and that she doesn't like the hair dryer too much. He said they can use a more gentle dryer so that was good to hear and needless to say I felt confident to leave my little girl there. I live close by so I walked by the store before she was ready. Because this groomer does the grooming out in the open and you can see in the store as they groom, I was able to see my little girl sitting like a person calmly as Vinny trimmed her face! I will just say for me the most important thing is that my dog be and feel safe when I leave her for a grooming and I felt very peaceful knowing she was in a safe and loving place. Edit: In reply to the owner, my statement is still correct: this place is not cage-free. I can understand have a cage for "emergencies" There's nothing wrong with having cages period, but there is something wrong with advertising yourself as cage-free when you're not. At least have a disclaimer or something. It's false advertising and ruins any trust between the customer and business. This place is NOT cage free. I bought my dog in here for a grooming session and as soon as he walked in, 2 dogs attempted to attack him. My dog is very skiddish and not a fighter at all. I'm not 100% sure but I think they may have been the owner's/employees dogs? I should've let this turn me away but the employees were apologetic about it. That is until I come to pick my dog up and see that he's in a cage? While the 2 aggressive dogs are still walking free? I specifically chose this place because it is cage free, and I really don't understand why my dog should be the one to be locked up while the aggressive ones are free to roam off leash. read more

Great place and owner is a real sweetheart. I brought my two dogs in for boarding, she explained to me that she only boards a few animals at a time, so it doesn't get too over crowded and that she takes them home to have a homey experience. She took pictures of their stay and sent them to me via texts when I asked to see what they were doing. She took them into her private home and took care of them as though they were her own, she has a fenced in backyard from where she sent me pics of my dogs running after one another and playing ball. I loved seeing them out playing instead of being stuck in a cage like some places. Also, I didn't expect Luisa (the owner) to give my dogs a free bath that included all the trimmings. She said she threw that in because my dogs were boarded for two weeks and she wanted to give them a special treat. I will be returning for frequent groomings and she's my new "go to" girl when I'm vacationing. Thank you Luisa! I hope your business does very well. read more

First time here and defiantly won't be the last! bought my Maine coon in for a grooming. She is a very difficult cat and usually comes back from grooming not fully cleaned. This time was much different she was spotless and smelled amazing. The groomers were so patient with her. When brining her in she had an irritated behind, the owner was even nice enough to apply an ointment I had for her on her behind. Usually after grooming my cat runs and hides not this time she was super calm. She even ate treats and was sitting with us on the couch. This goes to show how wonderful the groomers are with the animals. I have been to other groomers who treat it just as a business. Upon arrival they were petting and talking to my cat. The best groomer and dog sitter I've ever been to. Luisa is very accommodating and a true professional when it comes to customer service goes above and beyond to make sure you get exactly what you want and isn't satisfied unless you and your dog are 100% happy with their work. My dogs already know where they are going without opening the car door once we pull in in front of the salon. I've been going here for the past 5 years can't say enough good things about them. I have been using Pampered Paws NY for grooming and over night sitting for the past two years - they just moved into a very cute grooming/doggie day care salon - my yorkie stayed for the day last week while I went Christmas shopping - she loved it and I loved the convenience - they offer curb side pick up because parking can sometimes be a challenge - just drive up and call and they run out and pick up your dog from your car. I like that it's a small, warm, cozy caring place - your dog can't get lost in a crowd of big dogs - they limit how many can stay at one time which is a great idea. read more

I'm beyond impressed with my dog haircut! Nikki did a fantastic job and listened to all of my directions when it came to the style that I like to see on my dog. I love that they do not cage the dogs before or after their haircuts. It's a great place to bring your dog and a wonderful neighborhood gem. I'd been to several groomers and what bothered me the most was whenever I came to pick up my dog, he was dying to get out of there-.. But not here! I'm a huge animal lover and I rescued two dogs and a cat, I've been coming to them for four years and i'm very happy with them. Every time I have to leave for vacation I bring my dogs and cat with them for boarding. They'll always send me pictures and videos to show me how they're doing and they're always doing great and they come home really happy!! My cat is very difficult and they handled him great I am very satisfied with the groom. They really know what they are doing. Pampered and paws is a beautiful salon,and u can tell the owner really put a lot of time and effort into making this a welcoming place for our furry friends!The grooming area is quite spacious and the stuff does a great job keeping it clean!There is a very cute selection of doggie clothes,too! Been here twice. I like that they have a space where dogs can roam around and play with other dogs. First time I went, it was towards the end of my dog's cut, I saw that he was being a little whiny and the groomer calmed him down first and gave him a kiss before continuing to cut his hair. Second time I went, Luisa was very accommodating with the schedule. Vinny also cut his hair just the way I described to be. It felt like they genuinely care for animals, and that's what I appreciate more than a cute cut. read more

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. We brought in an 18-year-old cat with matted fur to be groomed. They handled our cat with great care and confidence. Everyone in the shop was extremely friendly and listened to our concerns. All of the animals there looked well cared for and happy. They keep close track of them, too. By the time we were done, we were on a first name basis with everyone and were extremely happy with how they groomed our cat. Would highly recommend their services! read more

This establishment ok by very low standard of care. I brought my small Shih Tzu in and there was dogs behind a cheap wooden gate. These dogs were all small and out of control. It smelled of urine, feces too. I believe the owner is Louisa or something. I could not run out faster than I did. Sadly, it is a VERY disorganized place, but owner ok. Nice just to make a buck. I'd honestly think twice about taking your dog here because they run loose and can run out! read more

I came here after reading reviews on yelp and I have to say, they did a wonderful job grooming my Yorkie. My family and friends all said that it was the best haircut my dog ever had. I especially like their no cage rule. When I came to pick up my dog, she was so happy. She's not usually very fond of getting groomed, but at Pampered Paws, she seemed like she enjoyed it. I use their grooming services. Wonderful place. Love the fact that this place is a "Cage Free" environment. Most of all, I love the fact that they listen to what the client wants. I tell then exactly what I want and that's exactly what I get. Great pricing and they treat your pet the way you would. Would recommend and have recommended to others. i took my 2 Maltese dogs to the shop to try it out and would never go anywhere else. I have tried several groomers and the dogs come back devastated. I went to pick them up and they were having so much fun in the play area, they didn't want to go home.
