I rarely give 5 stars but people, this is how bakery should look and taste like. It is very chic small shop with seating area. You can grab your fave croissant and have some coffee or just grab some sandwichz Pastries are amazing, we (like always) tried 80% and they are amazing ! Crunchy from the outside, great fillings inside.. from savory ham and cheese to fruit and cream.. very interesting presentation of corn bread whic is also amazing btw.. great combination of franch - mexican culture. Inside is mix of industrial and heavy wood ambient with mexica I would give 10 stars if I could. This will be our top bakery wherever we are.. My search for good croissants in the Chicagoland area led me to Pan Artesanal. Yes, I'm a croissant snob but I'm happy to say that Pan Artesanal does a mighty fine job. The pastry case hold all different kinds of croissants, cronuts, baguettes, breads and desserts like flan and cheesecake. The croissants are on the softer doughy side, but they do have buttery layers of dough that is necessary for a good croissant. They also have this pretty shiny shell of an outer crust that makes them a little different from the traditional French pastry. On suggestion of the man behind the counter, I took home a cajeta croissant. Cajeta being this rich caramel. The cajeta croissant was delicious. A nice filling of cajeta and topped with pecans...it truly was a wonderful mix of French and Mexican pastry. It's quite filling, so I could only finish half for breakfast. But easily ate the other half for lunch. I also bought a multigrain baguette--it had this really good crunch from the crust that comes down to a very soft chew. What I loved is that at when I bought it, it was still warm. The iced horchata coffee was a perfect pairing to the croissants. The tres leches iced coffee sounded pretty tasty too--I'll have to check that out next time. Pan Artesenal does a great job mixing French and Mexican baked goods. Come early and be prepared to wait (though if you know what you want, your best bet is to order online). Even on a rainy day, we waited in line about 40 minutes for some of these pastries. At some point, they sell out, and for good reason. This place is absolutely wonderful. The guava pastry is possibly the best pastry I've had in my life. Even before we tasted anything, my partner asked if we could come back once a month. Unfortunately they were out of cafe con leche. I'm craving for some bread and I want to eat it for my breakfast instead of some pasta or some rice. So I look at Yelp and search for a nearby location that sells some bread. And this store I found. It's good that they have tables and chairs inside for me to spend my time here. They have a lot of bread in their inventory. You can see in the other area that they sell Cacao Chocolate. I bought a pack of it and tried what it tasted like. For my breakfast I bought a Chocolate Ganache, Gancito Strawberry Chocolat and Pistachio. I also ordered hot coffee. It served me quickly since they just grabbed it from the inventory and put it on some plate. All of it tastes super delicious. But one of my favorites of those 3 is Chocolate Ganache. I can really taste the chocolate on it and the softness of the bun. It was incredibly amazing. You can try this too! read more

He really pushed the last cornbread muffin on the tray and said "it was the best you will ever have." He is not a liar! It was soooo good. We also got a peach danish, toffee pecan rolls, and flan. I love my neighborhood, but my closest carryout options are limited to mostly tacos or pizza. When I saw the sign go up for Pan Artesanal, we were excited for more options. We popped into Pan Artesanal today for lunch. They have all kinds of breads, baked goods, cupcakes, etc. Everything looks wonderful. Manfriend went with a chipotle chicken and ham sandwich and I went with a tomato, mozzarella, asparagus sandwich. We decided to eat in, there's seating for about 8. Manfriend is picky about sandwiches on crusty bread. He hates when the bread is too crunchy or tough; this bread was perfect and reminded me of fresh french bread you'd find in France. Our sandwiches were really good. For a sweet treat, we carried out a slice of cheesecake and a cinnamon roll. Unsurprisingly, these were also very good. It's nice to have another option close to home. It's perfect for lunch or to grab a quick sandwich on my way home (they close at 7 on weekdays). read more

Yay! It's great to have a healthier lunch option on this stretch of Fullerton. I've been into Pan Artesanal a few times since their opening as they are right down the street from my apartment. I'm enjoying the food! I like the Black Forest Ham sandwich the most so far. One aspect that makes them unique is that they blend both the Mexican and French cultures deliciously. For example, you can get a chorizo sandwich on a croissant. Definitely take advantage of the bakery as the goods are extremely fresh, and selection changes daily. The workers are friendly and don't mind answering and questions you have about ingredients. The food is good. However, a visit to the place will usually involve waiting in line in 30 minutes. (There is one cashier and seemingly no attempts to expedite service. One problem in particular is you can never tell what the pastry options are until you've already entered the café after waiting in line for 20 minutes.) Ordering online would be a nice option if the posted menus were more detailed. Pan Artesanal is a French-Mexican bakery concept that's distinctly unique, but they could really work on the service issues. When you first enter, you'll see clear cases with all sorts of breads and pastries so it's quite a beautiful site for a bread lover like me! Overall, my dine-in experience was a 3 star, but I sincerely hope they'll stick around and wanted to add one for my support. The gruyere ham croissant is excellent! When I ordered the pistachio croissant, I was expecting something like an almond croissant made with pistachio, but that wasn't the case - it's actually has a sweet, nutty paste filling. Croissants were rather dense but had a buttery flaky exterior. After taking our order at the counter, it took over 30 minutes to get our sandwiches so it didn't leave a lot of time to enjoy them within lunch hour. I have seen the lines and I've tried to get something here before but I never was actually successful. Then yesterday I decided to go before opening and wait in line and I was able to see and get some items that look entirely different from other bakeries. I got home and opened the boxes and: 1) the cinnamon roll is the best I've had by far and it's not even close ... 2) the Apple and cheese danish and the strawberry item I got were equally amazing The other thing that got me is everyone was so nice and the atmosphere is just right.... You can tell that many of those waiting in line had been here a 100x before and knew exactly what to get... the whole thing (music, nice service, clearly repeat customers) just gave off a positive family like vibe. It actually made me happy. This might be my favorite bakery in the states and I have made an effort to go to the so called best ones... This was a place I was looking forward to and I should have read the comments about getting there early BUT that wasn't the problem. It was my mother's and I first time going there and we ordered Chilaquiles and one of the desserts which were the berries with cream cheese bread with two chocolate drinks. We actually sat down to eat and I even left a tip when I paid before the service. There was one particular waitress that day that was wearing a brown poke a dot shirt with black jeans and brown shoes and that a little girl kept following her at times. She gave an unwelcoming feeling and it seemed like she didn't want to be there. She wasn't smiling at all and when I tried to get her attention the only time I did she acted as she didn't want to be asked or bothered. This place felt as a place to grab and go. This place is a hip, artistic and the food is great. It's breakfast, brunch and lunch with great music and an awesome ambience. A latino woman owned business. Two sisters creating pastries and breakfast sandwiches that are just so delicious. It's just awesome. My ultimate test was the coffee. I ordered a vanilla latte and while it's priced competitively against Starbucks it was okay. I also ordered the turkey, pastrami and cheese sandwich nicely sized for the price. Currently live out of state, but every time I'm in Chicago I make my way to Pan Artesanal. I've eaten here quite a few times and I have never had anything I disliked. Their Chorizo con huevo sandwich is fantastic, but I've been loving their steak sandwich the most lately. I ask to add an egg, and it makes it the perfect breakfast sandwich. Their bread is great, honestly some of the best bread I've ever had, as well as their pastries. I usually get the strawberry and cheese danish, but the gentlemen behind the counter asked if I had ever had the guava y queso pastry, which I hadn't from there. I appreciated the recommendation because it's definitely now my go to pasty. It was amazing. Overall this place is great. The owners and employees are always very nice and attentive to anything you need. The food is great, slightly pricey, but very well worth it. The location is great. I love seeing something unique as a French-Mexican bakery in Logan Square where the roots of the neighborhood are deeply ingrained in Mexcan/Latino culture. read more

3 stars are for the wonderful man that tried his best after he saw the disdain one of the owners was giving me, the places closes at 3pm, and I made the mistake of walking in on at 3:10, right away I see the weird looks from the staff, The wonderful man signaled me to the wall were they still had bread left and offered hot sandwiches, and the lady looks at him with disgust and tells him "to go", I am standing there in disbelief, another young woman tells her to offer me pastries, too, and angry lady rolls her eyes, I ask for coffee, and the angry lady says there's only enough for one cup, the young woman then proceeds and gives me options, horchata coffee and tres leches coffee, lady says "I already served her one" and mind you she is the one checking me out, and angry lady walks off, basically left me there. The young woman rings me up, I tell her let me pay for that one cup since she is so upset, I wait for my steak sandwiches "to go", of course, in bewilderment, As I am sitting there another customer comes in, and he is directed to the wall of bread by one of the young men, When I walked out my 13 year old son, he stated he wanted to tell angry lady something, I am so glad he has more restraint than you do, Can you please close the door, if you dont want the customers to come in, I made a mistake thinking the establishment closed at 5pm, I did not deserve such humiliation. CO-VID Edition Review. This business is not implementing the safest measures. They are busy and reputable so on the weekends you'll see flocks of people lining outside. However they're are allowing too many people in at one time and the people in line waiting to pay are not social distancing 6feet, it's more like 1-2 feet. I've raised concerns with them but they're not open to changing their ways or criticism they actually blocked me from social media for asking why their employees don't wear gloves in a video they posted which they have now taken down for obvious reasons. The straw that broke the camels back was their last video of them in the kitchen and someone handling a baked good with their bare hands. Again, during a pandemic this is irresponsible and bad business. Lastly the one of the owners thinks all her negative reviews on her page are funny instead addressing issues and concerns, so talk about a lack of customer service. Gosh, I've been to this place 3 times in the past 3 weeks and every time I've gone, I've tried something new. The regular drip coffee is a Mexican roast and was very good. My daughter had the iced tres leches coffee...OMGoodness!! Sooo good! We've had pastries and sandwiches and nothing has fallen short for our expectations. Talking to staff, you'll quickly learn that all pastries and breads are made fresh daily. They offer organic eggs...huge plus for me living in Logan Square, there is no shortage to coffee shops or bakeries but this one will be on quick rotation for our family. Suggestions: 1. Maybe offer a gluten free pastry or sandwich bread (Udi's is good) obviously not an option for celiacs but a better choice for those who are just limiting or avoiding gluten. 2. Maybe offer a reward card for free coffee or pastry...specifically for frequent visitors (like me who LOVE your café) 3. Maybe offer a free coffee refill while in house...for those choosing to "meet for coffee" during a social gathering at your café. Customer service is huge for me and so far you all are rocking it!! I've been driving by this place every day since it opened recently and had been excited to finally stop in this afternoon (Sunday at 2pm), but when we got there the door was locked. The hours posted outside stated that it was open until 4, the open light was lit up, there was an additional sign that said it was open, and there were three people sitting inside (presumably employees) eating at a table. After trying the door a few times, we gestured to the people sitting at the table and they gestured back that they were closed. I pointed to the open sign and they just kind of stared at us, not even bothering to walk to the door to explain the situation or turn off the sign. After walking back to the car we saw two other parties walk up to the door and do the same thing. The bread in the window looks great and I am still looking forward to trying it and will update this review once I do, but am definitely turned off by the poor customer service experienced today. read more

We visited the bakery for lunch. The store front is pretty impressive. Staff welcomed us and the bakery is inviting, with all baked goods, such as cupcakes, croissants and danishes, making my decisions very difficult. We went in to try the sandwiches, ended up brining home a scone, elote muffin and guava cheese danish. My husband and I tried the club sandwich, made on freshly baked bread. The only thing I would suggest is just a little more meat on the sandwich, since the deli meat is sliced thin. And we had an almond croissant, which was awesome! The best part of our visit I almost missed out on, my husband noticed a cake made from what I call manzanillas, but the pastry chef called jocote cake. IT IS OUTSTANDING! I came with my husband for a Saturday lunch and was delighted to see a neighborhood small business offering an assortment of breakfast and lunch sandwiches and fresh pastries and bread. We ordered a chipotle chicken and mango ham sandwich, coffee, and concha bread. The staff were friendly and the service prompt. The sandwiches were flavorful and made with fresh ingredients, the coffee tasted smooth black, and the concha was the right amount of sweet with a light and crunchy topping. The modern, well-lit bakery interior is met with Mexican culture, and the comfortable ambiance makes Pan Artesanal a great place to eat with a friend or grab a quick but quality bite.
