Chocolate covered Bacon!
Linda P.

Homemade truffles and ice cream and chocolate items galore. Bacon lovers can get chocolate dipped bacon. I myself bought some truffles and they melt in your mouth as the ganache should. This hidden chocolate store is a little hard to see from the street driving by, but taking a leisurely stroll I would walk back in again to get some coffee or truffles, mmm I think I have to try the homemade ice cream next time since I was so full when I stumbled in last.

Great whiskey, wine and chocolate pairings! I love the fact that they are locally owned and operated in addition to working with other local businesses. I would hands done anyone who's in the plaza stop in and check out this little gem even if it's just for ice cream.

Rye whiskey and burbon whiskey we sampled
Benedict A.

Came in here with a group if buddies because we initially wanted to sit on their outdoor patio furniture but it was only for patrons. Having some time to burn we had their flight of whiskey. For 20 dollars we sampled 3 different whiskey paired with 3 distinct truffles. Now knowing me I'm a 1 corona type of guy, so to be sipping on the whiskey seemed a bit much for me But there's 3 whiskeys tasted really good and was very smooth. The truffles were excellent ehich are hand made by the chocolitier in the back, thus their name. The flavors had depth and were so rich. Also the entire time she was extremely personable and friendly. In fact the friendliest restaurant person we've met in Missouri. She is extremely knowleadeable about the wines and liquors as well as the chocolates going into extensive detail and back story about the different items. Also the majority od things are sourxed from local areas, even the whiskeys. Granted things are a tad expensive, but ur paying for the knowledge and experience which is well worth it. If i ever come back to Kansas city which I won't, I will be back. This is the finest chocolate place in Kansas city!! Thank you again for the experience

Posh chocolate truffles and colorful macarons displayed like diamonds in streamlined cases. A sophisticated black and white and chocolate brown color palette dotting the walls with shelves full of edible gifts doubling as decorations. Flakey baked goods and a full European espresso menu as well as a considerable amount of ice cream flavors, also part of Panache's repertoire. If sweets are what you seek while meandering the classy Country Club Plaza then Panache is your department store of choice. The truffles are $2.50 a piece however, there are plenty of boxed sets available and pre-wrapped for purchase. There are unique local artisan collaborations such as an urban winery series and the Union Horse Distillery series that I sampled recently. The Union Horse truffles were each made with either the Bourbon or the Rye Whiskey and mimicked the flavors of a classically created cocktail. I went with two of my favorite drinks to order when out, The Old Fashioned and a stiff Manhattan. The Old Fashioned truffle was made with the KC Bourbon and honestly, I was a tad bit disappointed because I couldn't really taste the butteriness of the bourbon. Overall this truffle was pretty one note and sweet, couldn't really distinguish the citrus at all either. Out of the two truffles I tried, there were a total of six in the distillery's series, the Manhattan was out of this world. The tart pop of cherry in the center of the rich dark velvety chocolate was a moment! And the Rye whiskey actually shined through and gave a tickle in the back of your throat, meaning you tasted the liquor here in a non-overt manner. Panache's truffles are quality made and you can tell by the perfectly executed outer shell that shatters as you take your first bite but also, by the way the chocolate melts upon direct contact with your body heat. It's the real deal, no faux chocolate pearls in these cases! Washing down the decadent rich truffles with a good old-fashioned soda-counter style limeade is a tradition of mine. It reminds me of stopping by Panache on a whim with my Grammie during the Summer months because she would be fixing for a limeade. The refreshing beverage is nostalgia through a straw and isn't overly sugary sweet making it an actual thirst quencher during outdoor shopping excursions.

Small and decadent - I rarely eat here. Chocolate to me doesn't need to be so elaborate, such a fuss, you know? I am a women - so I would be lying to say I don't love Panache, it's just a little 'inconvenient' for me usually when I'm on the Plaza. If I'm hungry - I'll go eat at a restaurant. If I want a sweet drink - there's Starbucks or Latte Land or Scooter's Coffeehouse, take your pick. If I want something sweet - I'll usually want ice cream from Cold Stone or gelato from Balsano's. Panache is rarely my first thought for any of my sweet-tooth needs (Topsy's makes some great fudge for half the price). However, I always love to look around the small store on all the weird things they've formed out of chocolate, like a woman's like and bust - real classic. I love the samples, hate to be glared at for taking one too many, but I understand - I bet they get a lot of 'grazers' as we called them at The Better Cheddar. For me, chocolate is always good and the more the merrier - but Panache is never my go-to and I don't think it's too many other people's go-to as well, but perhaps I shouldn't assume. It's like shoe-box small - which adds to its appeal. Perhaps I'll venture to try a chocolate shake because I've had gourmet chocolates, but never a gourmet chocolate shake - it must be very decadent.

I am a chocolate fanatic! I had left dinner & didn't want to have dessert there. I walked to my car & thought about this place. All I needed was just a little bit of chocolate. I walked into the store & saw the counter with a good selection of truffles. These gorgeous, delectable bites ranged from having champagne to peanut butter in them-therefore to entice every taste bud. $2.50 per truffle but so worth it! The wall was lined with prepackaged goodies that would be great for presents & I will return to grab some as stocking staffers. The only downfall was that they were out of several of the truffles that I was interested in. ..note to self get there when they open for best options.

I love a lot of spots around the metro, but let's be honest, some of them get crazy busy and you end up waiting in line for a while. That's not a dealbreaker, but with a summer of social distancing, it's nice to have a spot like Annedore's that is tucked into the neighborhoods, has outdoor seating, and is never too busy. Their gelato is so good, and the service is friendly as it gets. We've made a tradition of walking up here as a family once a week, and together we've ordered or sampled: Cookies & Cream, Birthday Cake, Mint Chip, Chocolate Chip, Coconut, Strawberry, Berry Sorbet, Vanilla, and Lemon Basil. All are great (not crazy about the birthday cake one my kiddo always gets), the Berry Sorbet and Lemon Basil are standouts on a hot day. Their portions are generous, prices are very fair, the outdoor seating is great, and it's a very clean shop. Oh, and I recently discovered that macarons are delicious, and theirs are some of the best around. They're around $2.50 a pop and well worth it. I cannot recommend this place enough for gelato, macarons, and of course chocolate if that's your thing. Want to skip lines for ice cream (well, gelato) this summer and still support local? This is your spot. Bookmark it!

This local spot is located in the little historic Lenexa downtown, which is itself somewhat hidden away now that the Lenexa Public Market is open and draws folks that way. Coming to this stretch of suburbia feels charming and quaint, and I love that there is a really fantastic local coffee shop nestled into this shopping center. Now onto what makes this place so special. There are tons of great cafes in Kansas City, but what sets Maps apart from the pack is that they roast their own beans in house and they are all super fresh. You can taste the difference in the brew and it's a nice change of pace to have something a bit different since many of the local spots in town use the same local roasters. Once you find out about Maps you'll start to notice other cafes and restaurants that use their beans. It's not as many as say, Messenger, but Maps holds their own in this arena. They also make their own chocolate! And when I say make, I mean make. They actually make the chocolate bars and not just the candies. Even more impressive, it's damn good chocolate. Honestly, if you haven't been to this spot and have a love for coffee and/or chocolate it's well worth a visit. The cherry on top for me is how unpretentious the entire place is. You'll feel welcome, and the staff working will be happy to chat your ears off about their products. 5/5 for me!

Service was incredible (for a fun surprise, enroll in the rewards program!), and the shop vibes are very relaxed. I'm looking forward to many future visits!

With every visit to Andre's I become more and more of a fan…read more My first taste came from when I worked at the Nelson many years ago. Julian, the Director, is a fan of this place and he'd sometimes order an array of cakes for the staff to enjoy, they always went fast, and it was my first foray into European style cakes like what Andre's serves up. Flash forward more than a decade and I've been here a few times, sometimes to get chocolates for a friend, other times (like last night) for a meal. I didn't realize that Andre's does special events like their fondue nights. I have a feeling these are annual so you might have to wait until 2027 to snag a seat at the table, but their fondue meal was so much fun and comes with some history from their staff. Fun thing I learned was that they sell their fondue year round in the shop so if you ever want to do a unique date night at home just pop into Andres and purchase some to-go. It would be such a fun way to spend a Saturday at home. Finally, I'm going to add that for me what takes Andre's to the next level and makes it a must visit spot in KC is the history. It's been in the same family for generations, the recipes are authentic, and the owners are really kind people. It's the kind of business you can feel good about supporting and I'll be back!

I'd like to give a HUGE thank-you to the folks at Andre's for saving my Christmas!…read moreI wanted to buy chocolates for my best friend and realized (on Christmas Eve) that not all chocolates are gluten-free. My friend has celiac disease, so it's important to me to ensure my gifts to her meet her dietary restrictions. I checked online and discovered that almost all of Andre's chocolates are gluten-free and--better yet--they were open on Christmas Eve until 4 pm. So I dashed over after work, arriving at 3:40, and the folks behind the counter were all so kind and so helpful. I explained what I needed and they showed me the ready-made boxes of chocolates available--but then offered to put one together for me right then, to make sure that we chose exactly what she wanted and that every chocolate was gluten-free. They guided me through the choices, telling me the flavors that were in some of the selections, and giving their recommendations based on my friend's tastes. How nice of them!! I walked out close to the stroke of 4 pm, with the perfect box of chocolates in a lovely gift box. Hurray!! I really appreciate the staff's kindness, and going the extra distance for my friend, at the very end of their work day before the holiday started. Thank you SO much to everyone at Andre's, and Merry Christmas!
