They also have cakes in various sizes that you can pick up and take home to your family. We got quite a few things and not one thing disappointed us. It smells sweet when you walk it and there's usually a ton of people but the line moves quick. THE FRESHEST bread around! There is a ton of variety here - pan dulce, cakes, bolillos, as well as coffee and drinks. The best thing here are their conchas. Honestly, I have never cared for them. Most I've ever had were too airy or just too hard. Here, they constantly have FRESH AND HOT CONCHAS. I can't even begin to describe how good they are. It's been a staple in my family since I was a little girl so when I moved out here my son took me to this little gem that reminds me of home. The concha's are so delicious and keep fresh if stored properly. The empanadas I've tried (pumpkin, pineapple) did not disappoint. The butter filled croissant made my mouth water. It's not exactly like home but close enough. The service was great and they do bake fresh so you might be lucky enough to get some warm bread. Anakaren bakery has a huge selection of breads and pastries! As soon as you walk in, you get hit with the sweet smell of the bakery. I was already hungry and the smell made me salivate. Any labels are in Spanish, so ask the workers if you want to know the details on an item. Upon walking in, there are trays and tongs for you to collect your goods. They have their version of senoritas (aka Mille-feuille) with dulce de leche on top. They were okay. There was a lot more pastry than creme, and one of the layers had whipped creme. Next was a giant sweet bread filled with cheese. Very yummy. We also picked a hot empanada de guayaba and a palmier. The guayaba was a little too sweet, but it was still enjoyable. The palmier was my favorite. Perfect amount of sweet and flakiness! I would recommend you to get out of your comfort zone and try this awesome Mexican bakery. The sweet bread is good. We pick up sweets every couple of months or whenever we are craving it. We do not live near this location, or else we would be very overweight! We love the bread, we love the people that work at this location. Everyone is very kind. The only beef I have ..actually 2 beefs: 1-PARKING IS HORRIBLE!!!! 2- No Social Distancing, everyone and everything is a free-for-all. Other patrons breathing down your neck, not putting gloves on, and the OBVIOUS- do not know how to follow the arrows. I think this place probably needs to be re-located to a bigger building with more space to park. There is a drive-thru for call-in orders.. But we had NO IDEA! This Mexican bakery is a gem! I stop by about once a month, more when my in-laws are in town since they're from El Salvador and enjoy freshly baked goods. Upon entering, they have "self serve" trays to your immediate right of various sizes and tongs / gloves for use so that you can select your own pastries and breads. The staff is ever so sweet and do offer to help. If you do not speak or read Spanish, they always have someone who is available to translate as the signs are in Spanish as well. I've never tried their coffee but they're constantly having to make new batches. The tres leches and other cakes are to your left; all of which look beautiful and are always garnished with fresh, plump fruits. They have an array of sweet breads along the entire back wall (straight ahead when you come in), the variety is astounding - conchas, fruit, chocolate and cheese empanadas, the best orejas I've ever had, multiple croissants, various donuts, muffins and other cookies, biscuits. If you're looking for soft, big bolillo bread they're in a large bin behind the register and perfect to add to any meal or make sandwiches from. Everything's kept inside casings; unless it's a fresh cart stack they're setting out. And pricing is unreasonably low! Most items are 50-65 cents each. Drastically less than what you would spend on similar items from a factory. And if you can't tell by the smell before you even walk in, they make everything fresh, on-site. If you love freshly baked goods, want beautiful morning pastries for a meeting or the family and you want it to taste amazing then you have to stop in and give them a try.
