I've tried a many pad kee mao and found a lot of them to be overly sweet and not spicy enough but Thai Kitchen Cafe manages to strike a perfect balance between spicy, savory, and sweet. The noodles are just chewy enough and they don't skimp on the protein or veggies. I felt like I could make two meals out of a single entree. Our waiter was also very friendly and welcoming, which made the dining experience all the better. This is the first Thai buffet I have ever visited, and I am satisfied with what I had. Located a short walk from the EMBARK Depot and minutes from The Oklahoma City Memorial Museum, I was able to enjoy warm, freshly made Thai food. The waitress was quick, kind, and attentive in bringing drinks and clearing the table. The interior décor is a mix of Thai art on display with an old 50s coffee shop vibe, very homey, personal, and relaxing. The plates I had kept me going for the entire day, making it great for a one meal and go experience. I was hoping this would be a 5 star experience but it wasn't. My curry was curdled and difficult to eat. The portions were a good size for the money and my niece's pad Thai was good, I just didn't enjoy the meal. There was too much oil floating on top for it to be palatable. Its dangerous how closeby this no-frills family-run establishment is from me. I like the homey, hole-in-the-wall feel this place exudes but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to dine in or try out the lunch buffet yet. I've gotten takeout here a handful of times, though, and highly recommend the pad kee mao, tom yum soup, and thai tea. I'm excited to try other things, but these 3 are my staples at any Thai place (yes, I'm basic). The service is always lovely and quick. One of the more annoying aspects of this restaurant is the parking, but if you just do takeout, you can get away with not paying for parking in the garage across the street. read more

I came to OKC for a work conference and to enjoy the Thunder game. We got hungry found this restaurant on Google. This place isn't the most modern but I liked how nice the owner/manager was. I also love supporting mom and pop restaurants. The food came out nice and warm. I got a level 3 spice but could've opted for level 4 (spicy lovers only). My friends ordered the shrimp fried rice (shrimp were jumbo!) we loved it. Very tasty. The pad Thai came in a nice portion and was delicious. I got the pad see ew with beef. Being Asian-American myself, I appreciate a hot hot plate (temperature). It was fresh and everything was clearly just cooked and had not been sitting. After visiting Oklahoma City Museum of Art I took my parents to the Thai Kitchen Cafe (close by.) We had Tom yum gai (soup), pad thai with shrimp, a curry dish and rice. We also fresh spring rolls as appetizers. My parents don't normally eat authentic Thai food and I had a feeling they might enjoy a unique experience. Everything was great, the place is clean, the food was delicious and plentiful and the staff were very attentive. I have ordered togo and dine-in here many times since I first ever heard of them and I have never been disappointed. Ambiance = homey I love the lunch buffet : a variety of different items for a great price (under $20 I believe) There was this one time they forgot to add protein to my order ( I love the Pad Woonsen with beef) . I didn't complain because food was still delish and I saw how swamped they were ( honestly I didn't think it was that big of a deal and had already driven 5 miles away) . I was fine Later that evening they called me ! Legit search through the call catalog because they forgot to write my number down, they apologize and offer a remake. The buffet has plenty of options but is small and tight so you might have to wait a little bit for them to refill a dish or for people to clear out some. I considered 4 stars only because of location and ambiance...but in reality, it's a hole-in-the-wall joint with excellent service and food. Caution, there's lots of homeless near the bus station (walk from the other direction and you're fine) and some tables were taken up with boxes, but really, this is what I was looking for. I wanted to love this place. I really did. A little authentic hole in the wall with people who were working hard and just so nice and friendly! But the food was just meh. Their shrimp rolls were plentiful, hot and crisp. But they had the parts of the black veins still in. The drunken noodles were plentiful but didn't have enough flavor and the noodles were too chopped up and a bit mushy. And the Thai iced tea was also lacking in flavor- maybe too watered down? I will try it again next time I am in town simply because I want to believe I caught them on a meh day. read more

I really enjoyed the pad Thai as well with beef. I got level 4 spicy and let me tell you a level4 spicy is pretty spicy. They also brought me out of a side of authentic Thai chili. I used it sparingly as because it's very very hot. The pad Thai beef has so much flavor though. I am absolutely a fan of their style of cooking here. They also give you a side of peanuts they're so crunchy and tasty. Every time I'm in Oklahoma City I will make it a point to come to Thai kitchen café. This is one of those Thai restaurants that you have to try if you're a fan of great Thai food. I will try the crispy cheese rolls next. Also I have to be at the pricing was very very good. The lunch special was priced to the best price I've seen ever for a Thai food. Customer service: the gentleman working here was extremely nice and took very good care of us. If I could give this place a super negative 0 star rating I would. We came in for lunch a little bit before 1 PM. When we arrived, there was nothing in the buffet line. However, the cashier said that they will be filling the buffet. Great, 30 minutes later they filled two items. But that wasn't enough food for everyone else that was already waiting. The most that was filled was green beans.... So I guess the cashier wasn't lying. They did fill the buffet with something. We went to speak to the owner and let him know the lack of food that was in his buffet line. His excuse was that they stop filling the buffet line 30 minutes prior to 2 PM which is the time when the buffet ends . Shortly after, a lady stepped in and started yelling (or maybe she wasn't and that's just how she talks) and told us that if we wanted a full buffet, we can go somewhere else , I told them, yes I will go somewhere else next time. His response was it doesn't matter to him. obviously they are fully aware that they are charging customers for a buffet with no intention of filling the buffet "unless we ask", which probably should let customers know instead of us sitting there eyeing the buffet line. And lastly, they don't care if they get any businesses or repeat customers. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I'm all about supporting local businesses, but the lack of customer service and respect from this place, I would recommend trying another Thai place in OKC that ends with "House - NW OKC". read more

I use Pad Thai and Curry as a litmus test to judge the quality of a Thai restaurant, and their Pad Thai and Massaman Curry are exceptional. For my entrées I ordered Pad Ginger, Massaman Curry and Pad Thai; all dishes were exceptional. The owners and my server were extremely friendly and welcoming. We ordered the tom kha kai, sweet and sour pork, and cream cheese rolls, and it was all so delicious. The flavors were perfect. The restaurant is definitely sort of a hole-in-the-wall, which you always know is a good sign! Plus it's on a nice street with easy parking. What stood out to us by far was how kind and accommodating our server was! I've probably never had a nicer server. She was so sweet to our kids, and she made sure we had everything we needed. 5 stars because this place holds lunch buffets. I have never seen a Thai place with buffets!!! Great bang for your buck if you love Thai food but want variety. You can get a variety of curries to pad kee mao to Thai basil flavored green beans to egg rolls. Buffet runs 11-2 for like $14. Not bad considering an entree there is closer to 11-12 dollars. I find that places that are considered a hole in the wall tend to have the best service and hospitality. I believe the man who took our order was the owner, and he's very sweet and has a good sense of humor. I had the pad thai, and it was delicious. The portion is not as generous as other Thai places, but I think their pad thai is one of the best I've had. The dish didn't have a lot of tamarind paste in it, but the ingredients were fresh with a good balance of sweet and savory flavors. And the dish is fragrant due to the sauté garlic and onions. The owner was surprised my friend and I didn't stay long since we asked for some to-go box so quickly, but I assured him the food is wonderful, it's just that we have to leave for a show right after. read more

This will be my new go-to spot for Thai food. I ordered the Pad Thai with beef and it was delicious! I ordered the lowest spice level and it was perfect for me who has a very low spice tolerance. My husband got the same thing but with the 2nd highest spice level since he was nervous to get spiciest for our first visit, but he didn't feel like it was spicy enough. Got this on a work trip to OKC - easy walk from most hotels downtown. Placed a to go order and was told about 20 minutes at lunch time. Lunch special is a great deal for $7.99. Each meal came with 2 amazing crispy spring rolls (so tasty they all got eaten before pics!) with a super delicious spicy sauce. The pad see ew (although it didn't look as good as the pad Thai) was for sure the star! I love the thick, wide noodles and not all places use these. The pad Thai had decent flavor but was a bit dry - I poured the rest of my spring roll sauce on it and it perked right up. I ordered medium spicy which was perfect - I had gotten some chili oil just in case but it wasn't needed. I also got Thai iced tea - unlike many places there was no charge for no ice. Tasty and would definitely get again! Can't wait for my next OKC trip :) read more

I live within a mile of Thai Kitchen and eat here frequently. The food is always outstanding. If you aren't sure what you want I would recommend the lunch buffet, as long as you get there early. By early, I mean right when lunchtime starts. I think they open at 11AM. They recently raised the buffet price. I believe it's now $15, which I think is a bit on the high side for lunch, but if you come hungry and want to sample a little bit of everything and enjoy some really delicious Thai food - it's worth every cent. They also have a lunch menu which is more modestly priced and the food is just as delicious. They really understand how to combine spices and flavors and if you ask for more spiciness to your entree it does come spicy but not so much that it overpowers the entire dish. I recommend any of their curries and Mussman curry is my favorite. One last thing I should add is that the service has always been outstanding. On one occasion the owner of the restaurant went far beyond the call of duty when my motorcycle was stolen from in front of the shop. He knows the area well and while it's not in a terrible area of town, it's right downtown near the city bus depot. Upon hearing my bike was gone he set out on foot along with my husband and showed my husband where he thought the thieves would go. They didn't get far. These dumb criminals were attempting to roll the bike away hoping no one would notice this in broad daylight. Without the assistance of the restaurant owner we most likely would not have recovered my bike that day. He was super helpful. So not only is the food delicious the people who work there truly care about their customers. I would give this place ten stars if I could. read more

What a diamond in the rough! Please don't let looks fool you. When you walk in everyone is very friendly and it's like you're walking into a friends house. Izzy greeted us and let us pick we're we felt comfortable. He immediately brought us some water and let us look over the menu. I got a fried tofu appetizer. That came out almost immediately. My fiancé is not a fan of tofu so I had that to myself. For meals I got the pork Pad Thai spicy level 3 and my fiancé ordered the yellow curry with chicken spicy level 2. The food was delicious! Izzy was perfect. Constantly refilling our drinks and white rice as we needed it! The pad Thai was tasty. The yellow curry was my favorite. I guess I was craving curry. We shared our food and still took a little of everything to the hotel. We actually just finished the curry and white rice. And are saving the last bites of pad Thai for a quick snack on our cross country trip. If ever in Okc again we will definitely be visiting Izzy. All thumbs up here! Absolutely loved it read more
