The eggs were kind of wet and really scrambled, they had a really weird texture, I've never seen them cooked like that at a Diner. First Resturant as soon as you get off the boat, aside from it being full the Wait time to be seated was about 30 min, super full but worth the wait! Low quality. The view/setting was cute but not worth it. Holy smokes. Genuinely made me angry, they just have a monopoly on the breakfast situation on the island because everything else (at the time we were there) was closed. Food=SUBmid. When we first got in, another customer was asking to have their omelet sent back and heated up more because the cheese wasn't cooked enough. At first we looked at each other like "oh brother, how picky" but then ours came and oh my gosh, the cheese was raw. Flabbergasted. The chicken on the chicken and waffles, so incredibly underwhelming. I'm fully convinced it's a frozen chicken patty. And I think it was the scrawniest piece of meat in the bag. They only offered bottled water (which it wasn't that expensive for bottled water ($2) but still.. this isn't Europe). The OJ was Minute Maid from a machine and it costs FIVE DOLLARS for like 12oz. I could buy a gallon of Minute Maid for less than that. There was also an eyelash in it, which we couldn't figure out if it was ours or someone else's but at that point we were just over it. Our bill in total came out to $50. I'm not sure what you're paying for, maybe the view? But definitely not the food. We were asked by the staff how it was and we said "fine/good" because what the heck are you supposed to say at that point, there's literally no way they don't realize. This was such a great place for breakfast/brunch! The ambiance was excellent with beautiful decor, and the service was definitely top notch. We had an omelet with pancakes and coffee, and everything was tasty. It's also super conveniently located on the path from the ferry drop-off point into Avalon, so it's a great first stop to your day. Was greeted upon arrival, we were a party of 6 but was told we could not be seated until our whole party was present. (2 people in our group were steps behind) smh. I opted for the Florentine Bennie, it was very basic, bland and served with unseasoned hashbrowns. For a moment I thought I lost my sense of taste but it was just the food. Service wasn't very great as our server (Jose) was only present just to take our orders and give us the bill. I had to flag him down multiple times just to have my drink refilled. Also, water is NOT free, we were in shock to see a $2 charge for each water. He should have mentioned when we first ordered that water is not complimentary. When we asked for our bill to be split, he let out a big sigh, rolled his eyes and said it can only be split 2 ways if we were paying with a credit card but could be split more ways if we were paying in cash. He stood there and let us know we were cutting into his break, (rude) so we quickly paid. Once we paid and started to get up he took his break right in the dining room with the other patrons. We had breakfast, was tasty for the most part. The biggest let down food wise for us were the Pecan Pancakes. The pancakes were their traditional pancakes with half a handful of dry pecans on top. It is pretty outrageous to upcharge for 7 dry pecans (I counted them). A mediocre amount of syrup was served, so I waited and waited to try to get more, but unfortunately no one came around. Our server we saw a total of 3x through out our whole meal. Which was unpleasant because we kept having to wave down support staff to try to get more coffee refills, order more items, etc. We think that due to their auto gratuity she may have felt no need to service our table. The restaurant was clean and gets pretty packed as it's the first spot to grab breakfast/lunch from where the Catalina Express docks. My recommendation - keep walking. Got here on a Sunday morning a little earlier than 9am and the wait wasn't too bad. Waited about 20 ish minutes and just sat across the way by the beach. It would be nice if they took down numbers and sent out texts if you wanted to shop around but I had nothing else planned for the morning so it was okay. We did notice it filled up quick about an hour later so plan accordingly. I ordered a Corned Beef Hash n' Eggs with my eggs over medium. The corned beef was delicious, I don't care whether or not it came from a can or was made from scratch I enjoyed it thoroughly! The potatoes were delicious as well, more like house potatoes than hash browns but I'm a fan of both. Had to add a bit more seasoning on them as well but it's simply personal preference with potatoes. I got a side of english muffins for toast and I have no idea what brand muffins they use but it was tasty as well. My boyfriend ordered the Chorizo Sizzler skillet with medium eggs as well which was a hefty portion plenty enough to share or for leftovers. The chorizo itself was really salty although it was still delicious. Came out sizzling hot as promised. We also shared a cottage french toast which honestly wasn't anything too special but always a fan! For drinks we ordered The Painkiller and a Buffalo Milk plus two bottles of water. Like most other places on the island, water is not complimentary so be warned that it does cost money so you can bring your own if you wish. I can tell this is one of those diner/breakfast place that everyone goes to since they happen to open earlier than the rest which makes them great! Also this spot is pretty busy from all the tourist (like myself!) visiting on an early weekend. So noise level can be a bit loud, some a little bit too much! I'm referencing to the table nearby us (full of ladies) as if they're shouting at each other. Our party weren't the only one who had hard time trying to speak amongst ourselves since it was hard to hear. Anyways; I cannot say that I was satisfied or "wow-ed" by the food, after all it filled me up, regardless I was in food coma after. They should have more lighter meals in the mornings. I found it a bit difficult deciding what to eat since it was 7 am since everything seemed to be on the heavier side. I ended up opting for their Alaskan Salmon Benedict which came with hash browns (i was not able to eat this portion). This dish was beyond salty as some catalina island folks say "stay salty" lol.
