Thank you yelp!! We were looking for a place to eat on our drive to SEATAC, and Yelp steered us to the Pancake House for its great breakfast. When we arrived, the place was absolutely packed with locals (always a good sign). It took us awhile to get a table, but we were ok given the food looked pretty tasty. It took us awhile longer to get our food, but it was every bit of delicious. We had blueberry pancakes, huge slices of bacon, and coffee. I have always judged restaurant pancakes by The Pancake House's. Thin and tasty. That's why I found a recent breakfast disappointing. First off, we were not acknowledged by the staff when we walked thru the door. Debbie used to be a cook here and said that would not have been tolerated by the late owner. We got seats at the counter and had quick, friendly service as is the norm here. I had the meat omelet and Debbie had the bacon and eggs. Debbie's meal was great with her eggs cooked "perfectly". Poorly cooked eggs are her pet peeve so getting a perfectly cooked egg makes her happy. My omelet was great with enough meat inside to make my arteries harden just looking at it. Now for my big DISAPPOINTMENT: I found the pancakes to be "rubbery". They were also thicker than I remember. Wasn't happy with them at all. While we will be back, I will not be ordering the pancakes. Pancake house is a staple to Longview and it's been around for years. They close at 1:30 and they are always busy. They are not just a breakfast joint either. Easily the best breakfast place in the Kelso/Longview area. Be prepared to wait. I don't think we've ever gone there and were seated immediately. BUT...it's SO worth the wait. While coming back from Vancouver we were trying to figure out a good place for breakfast and stumbled upon this place. SO glad we did. I had the biscuits and gravy and I have searched far and wide to find better ones than at the Fog cutter cafe in Westport. These were just as good! The place was packed on a Sunday morning and I see why! Good down home cooking and awesome prices. We were a little Leary of going to a hometown place because most of the time they don't take a liking to "non regulars". The waitress was super nice. I went to the pancake house the other day for breakfast. The menu offered quite a few choices and the prices were great! We did have to wait about 5 minutes for a table, but for a Sunday brunch after church let out.. thats not too bad! The service was pretty good. I liked how it was a team environment there. When a breakfast joint is busy on any given morning, during any given hour, filled with people from all walks of life, it's got to be good. And that's the case with the Pancake House. The place is down-home goodness. The location is a very small building, packed with bustling waitresses and hungry loggers, but it's been there forever, and it'll probably be there forever. The food is great, and it's been a place I bring my family when the come from out of town. What my husband and I really enjoy is that the waitresses understand that some people just HAVE to have peanut butter with their pancakes or waffles. They don't look at us funny when we ask for some, and they've always got it available. Denny's doesn't even have peanut butter available. Looking around The Pancake House, you can tell that it was a popular spot among locals. As it is such, I should've anticipated the slow service, but I'm really not used to all of the wait. For example, after looking over the menu and placing it down (universal signal for "We're ready!") for at least 5 - 10 minutes, a hostess finally came to reassure us that someone would soon be with us. Don't ask how long it took to get our food or check. Now to the food - the boyfriend ordered the Denver omelette and I ordered the strawberry roll-up pancakes. Simply put, both were delicious, but nothing out of the ordinary. If you're looking for a spot to leisurely eat breakfast, this is your spot. I recently moved here to the Longview area and of course I've been trying out all the local spots. DBF and I have been here twice now, both times there was a line but the breakfast was SO good! Both times I had the Chicken Fried Steak w/hashbrowns and eggs over easy, DBF had an omelet with a pancake both times. The coffee isn't good, it's bitter. The food is great though! I grew up here in Longview. Came home from California. Every time I try to stop here for breakfast. Took my Mom for breakfast. Awesome service and food! Large portions and as, always fresh. Had the chicken fried steak and eggs, she had the Denver Omelet. She loved it and my only find was that the chicken fried steak was a frozen steak. But, it was still cooked perfectly and tasted great! Highly recommend the Pancake House. Will continue to return when I'm home! read more

A colleague and I found ourselves in the decidedly unexotic burg of Longview on business for a week. Our first day necessitated an early arrival (before 7 AM) at the office and the Pancake House was one of the only places open at that time on a Monday. We made a mistake in not coming back there on Tuesday, opting to dine in our hotel that day and living to regret it. We ended up coming back here for breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday and there is nothing on the menu I wouldn't recommend. Best place to go for breakfast in town! Prices are very reasonable, portions are rather large, and I gotta say, they have some of the best omelets I've had (I recommend the seafood omelette. It has REAL fresh seafood in it, not frozen stuff bought at the store!). Staff is always very friendly, and courteous. Best times to go are very early in the morning when they first open. Checked this spot on my road trip because of good yelp ratings. Place was busy, I was seated promptly, food came quickly. I doubt I ordered their most delicious breakfast as I am no dairy and GF, but overall food did not impress me. Honestly woulda probly enjoyed denny's or shari's or some other chain better, but service was good. Oh but don't expect your bill to come to the table, I waited like almost 10 min before I realized nobody was coming with a check and to pay up front. One extra star for the ridiculous signage posted everywhere and the totally non-level funhouse floors sloping this way and that. Place has character food did not. read more
