Went here today for lunch for first-time visit. I will say that if you're looking for "fine dining," then this wouldn't be the venue for you. If you're looking for delicious food- fairly affordable, and great service- this is the place. The guacamole was amazing. I even felt like the chips were better than most Mexican restaurants. I tried a steak bowl; it was DELICIOUS. I can't wait to go back and try more. I also liked that their cups were cold, and their menu didn't just feature the same thing most Mexican restaurants serve- it wasn't just chain restaurant fully delicious but common fare- this many had a few different options. When visiting one of my best friends in Philly, we stopped by this location after she picked me up from the airport. Being from Arizona, I eat quite a bit of Mexican food and do get some authentic eats since we are so close to Mexico. I was a little worried trying Mexican food in the east coast, but we were both really happy with the food we got here. The service was very friendly and the location was very clean. I appreciate the staff assisting with boxes as we definitely ordered more than we can eat as we wanted to try various items. It was great for leftovers and a midnight snack as I can get munchy at different times due to the time zone difference. I ordered for delivery last night, intrigued by the blue corn enchiladas. Along with sides, there was enough for me to make two meals. The one on the outside of the four was dry, but the other was good. If you don't like spicy, as I don't, avoid the peppers used for garnish. The refried beans were wetter than I expected, but I did like that some whole beans were stirred in. The bowl of street corn was my favorite bite of the meal. The texture of the guacamole was similar to the beans, with part of it wetter than expected, but also with chunks of tomato stirred in. Yum, yum, yum!! Had a yearning for authentic Mexican food and gave Las Fridas a try for the first time and they did not disappoint!! We ordered loaded nachos, chicken enchiladas with green sauce and chile rellenos. The nachos were supreme! House made chips loaded with queso, beans, pico, jalapeños and guacamole. The chips were thick and crispy and held up well considering we didn't eat them for a 30 minutes, as we had the food delivered. Huge portions that allowed for sharing and leftovers for the next day, which is always a plus. The four enchiladas were delicious with moist shredded chicken and tasty sauce. The chile rellenos were tasty, the type of cheese used was a bit thick/stretchy rather oozing/melty but it worked well. First time at Las Fridas Mexican Kitchen on Limekiln Pike, Maple Glen, about 30 minutes from home. In a small commercial strip, it has a dining room with about ten tables and impressions of Frida Callou on the walls and menu. Otherwise the booths and fittings are utilitarian. Service was friendly and patient as we took a long look at the large menu. I went with Esquites (street corn) - a bowl of fresh corn just off the cob with delicious spices and a large dollop of crema to mix together, and Chili Relleno (poblano pepper, roasted and stuffed with Oaxaca Cheese & covered in a red sauce. Also tender and tasty. My son ordered Elote (street corn on the cob covered in spices) and Frita's Torta (huge sandwich on home baked roll, pork Al pastor, Oaxaca cheese, pickled jalapeño, Chipotle mayo, lettuce & tomato). That sammy was amazing to behold; oversized and loaded. Delicious. Everything else was also notable , especially the street corn appetizers. The Relleno was good, but not best of breed. She was able to customize the shrimp quesadillas( cheese, onions, shrimp and peppers )and gave salsas on the side. The other dish we tried was the huevos divorciados. So it's been a year since this place opened and as promised, I have tried it a few more times. Food is great and the service is so much better. There is a younger male server who has been there the last few times I have dined and he is very helpful and always pleasant. The owner will also help when things get busy which is nice to see. This is a new local Mexican joint that popped up in my hometown. Love the food here and the location! Parking is easy since it's in a plaza. There are plenty of seatings on the inside so it is good for groups. The food is pretty good; they give you warm chips to start and your choice of whatever food you order. I got the burrito; very balanced in its filling. Just the right amount of meat to rice to all other toppings ratio so that each bite gives you maximum taste. I personally like the sauce on the side so I can control how much I get on each bite; I also recommend sauce on the side so that you can use it as a dipping sauce for the chips. Stopped here on a long car ride. My 15 year old is upset that he will most likely never get a chance to eat here again. I had a mix of street tacos which were all delish. The aforementioned 15 year old had enchiladas and he raved about all them. My husband churi pollo bowl and his bowl was cleaned first. We were met at the door with a friendly greeting. We had a slight wait (less than 10 minutes while a table turned over. Our server was very helpful with narrowing our options and provided prompt service. My tinga sope would almost have been enough for a light lunch on its own, but not knowing this, I'd also ordered the veg and shrimp tacos. The sope was one of the better I've had outside of Mexico, but the tacos were less impressive (especially the veg, which was onion-heavy). The fresh guacamole was blend and needed a lot of salt and cilantro. The Birria tacos looked and smelled delicious, but were slightly on the cold side (not sure if they were just sitting on the counter while other food was being prepared) and the consommé was bland and watery. Food seems authentic and has a wide selection. The food we ordered was delicious. My boyfriend loved his breakfast burrito. My food was okay. Nothing too special. The chips and salsa we got before our meal could have been better. Chips don't seem fresh and the salsa needs more flavor. My boyfriend's coffee has good flavor, but was weak. After coming back from a recent trip to California, I've been on the hunt for some good street tacos and street corn. As luck would have it, I stumbled upon Las Fridas Mexican Kitchen and could not have been any more delighted. The restaurant was super clean, spacious and has clear views of the kitchen. The wait staff was on their game and very friendly. However, the food stole the show, as it should. I got the carne asada street tacos, esquites (street corn), chips and pico and churros for dessert. The food was delicious, served hot, full of flavor and reasonably priced. It was all prepared fresh. It was not sitting around all day. I cannot recommend this place enough. Food was incredible, and everyone was so nice! We had birria sopes, a ground beef burrito, esquites, chips with salsa, a pineapple Jarritos soda, and a large Jamaica (agua fresca). The meat (birria and beef) was tender, juicy, and flavorful in both dishes. The homemade sopes were perfectly fried, chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The esquites was a great off-the-cob version of elote and was bursting with flavor. The homemade tortilla chips were warm and fresh and awesome, and the salsa was smooth and great, not overly spicy or oniony. This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant in the entire area. Hit this relatively new spot in maple Glen yesterday. As soon as we walked in we knew it was the real deal. Small place but big flavors. Service was great and the place was clean. Wife ordered the shrimp tacos and loved them. We had some cheese and pork tamales which were killer. My daughter had the lamb tacos and they were some of the best lamb I've ever eaten.
