I came to El Limon in Glenside this evening looking for some good Mexican food, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the quesabirrias and my husband had the tortilla salad bowl--both were served quickly and were absolutely delicious. The portions were just right, leaving us full but not overstuffed. What I especially love is the atmosphere. Sitting outside on a nice night is such a treat--the decor is charming, with plants and string lights creating a cozy vibe. It's tucked away on a quiet side street, but still just a short walk from the main strip in Glenside. Overall, great food, great ambiance, and a spot I'll definitely be coming back to! read more

Being as that it's Cinco de Mayo my wife and I decided we wanted Mexican and decided on El Limon because we'd been before and it's great. When I got there to pick up it was understandably busy and despite some really rude patrons the staff was lovely to everyone. When I got the food home it was amazing, we had chicken quesadilla, empanadas, an enchilada with shrimp and one with steak; mole sauce on both and it had a lovely little sweetness. The Al Pastor Tacos were absolutely amazing. All I would change is some smaller pieces of fresher/less grilled pineapple added. At $30 for 4 tacos, 2 free margaritas, and 1 loaded nacho, who can complain? Walked in on a Sunday afternoon, almost every table full and still managed to be seated right away. Our server was attentive while being very busy with full house, take out orders and keeping up with cleaning up and handling back of house. Iv been here many times and will continue. We ordered catering for a pool party, and they nailed it. Be advised, the staff is extremely busy, so it takes a bit to reach them, but they're lovely once you do. Delivery was smooth, food fresh and hot. I should add, the delivery charge was surprisingly affordable. A+ We ordered a build-your-own taco bar with shrimp, beef, fish, and veggie options, all on perfectly fresh corn tortillas. The guacamole was creamy and addictive, and the pico de gallo was spicy and bursting with freshness. The refried beans converted me--they were rich and delicious. Who knew beans could be this delicious? Our guests were impressed and loaded up to-go plates. I saved some refried beans for myself. I'm definitely ordering again! I've been a big fan of El Limon ever since I was introduced to the Ardmore El Limon back in 2018. Since then, I've tried items from several different El Limons in Bryn Mawr, Bala Cynwyd City Line and Bala Cynwyd Montgormery Avenue. All of these locations are excellent and offer freshly prepared tacos, burritos, nachos, tamales, and more. This El Limon is no exception. The restaurant itself is quaint and colorful. The service is exceptional. The meat options include beef, pork, fish, shrimp, and one exotic item... beef tongue. I was surprised to see this last protein on the menu because I normally see it on the menus of Mexican restaurants in the city where people tend to be a little more adventurous with their eating habits. I'm glad it's there. Get the beef tongue! Just try it! It's good! (If they ever have beef cheeks, then order it immediately because you are in for a treat.) Drink selections include Jarritos beverages as well as three housemade drinks. The horchata is very good. Perhaps the one thing I found a bit pricey for what it was was the desserts. The tres leches cake was on the smaller side, costs more than two tacos, and was between okay and good. You can't go wrong with any of the non-dessert items, though. I've tried everything and it's all good. I will say, for the nitpickers, that the meats are not seasoned to be spicy at all. You can spice them up yourself with the sauces that are available. read more

El Limon in Glenside has the entire package. A nicely decorated space in what Americans associate with Mexican restaurants. How accurate this place is to the real thing I have no idea. The servers are very nice eat I. Or carry out, sadly the place doesn't have a liquor license but I bet they'd turn a blind eye to some byob. The food is really good putting chipotle to shame and they have a pretty wide selection from burritos to tacos to nachos to sandwich's like a wonderful Cubano. I really enjoy the food here we eat here at least every other week - they're nice fairly fast the food is good and they are reliable good food every time. We really like this place. read more

I was very excited to try this location, since my husband works very close to the one in Bala Cynwyd, and is always raving about it. We ordered a bunch of different tacos, along with chips and guacamole to go. When we got home and opened up the containers, my husband immediately had a look of disappointment on his face, but didn't say anything as he did not want to influence my experience. I thought that the tacos had good flavor, and the guacamole was a highlight! My husband was disappointed overall, stating that the tacos at this location had much less filling than the ones that he is used to from the other location. We decided that we'll give it one more try seeing as though we went on a weekend and we are hoping that it was just a one time chef issue. read more

I will say I have enjoyed El Limon in Ambler multiple times. Take out from Glenside was uninspired. The salade that I paid $11 for had almost no edible lettuce. The entrees were ok, but they need some actual seasoning. Don't send bad food out the door. read more

We ordered takeout from here on a whim and it did not disappoint. Price wise I can't really comment since it was via a third party app & in this day & age everything is absurdly expensive. What I will say is that I would spend the money again, I'd even make the exact same order. The chips were perfectly crisp and I didn't encounter any weird ones. I only wish I'd ordered more. The pico was fresh and full of flavor, guac was good and seemed fresh, and the red & green salsas were divine. I also like that I could order extra mole as a side (I'm always looking for a new place with good mole so I was happy to discover they offer it). My chicken enchiladas with mole were 9/10, the chicken wasn't super flavorful but the mole made up for that. The potato tacos were great and still crunchy, even after being topped with lettuce tomato and sour cream. The burrito was a decent size and had plenty of sauce. A welcome addition to Glenside, El Limon has several locations in Montgomery County. Having been to their Bristol location previously, I have found they're quite consistent with their product. Both times I ordered the veggie tacos Supreme style with flour tortillas paired with chips and guacamole. The veggies are seasoned and caramelized to perfection and are a great balance of sweet and savory. I recommend squeezing a lime wedge over the tacos first which brightens up the flavors. Beware: they are messy (always a good thing). The chips were freshly fried and the guacamole was creamy with a bit of spice. The ambience is casual and is the perfect summer spot for a quick bite for lunch. Next time I'll be sure to BYOB (margarita pitchers, anyone?). read more

I would like to start my review by saying that the missus and I are fans of El Limon. We have visited several of their locations and were pleased to see that they opened a location close to our home. We visited for Taco Tuesday with another couple recently. Plenty of street parking and a municipal lot in the vicinity. El Limon offered outside dining along with inside seating. Don't forget to bring your favorite libations El Limon is a byob. We started with chips, salsa and guacamole for the table. The chips are delicious and I'm guessing made in house. The salsa was extremely fresh and delicious. The guacamole was creamy and tasty with a hint of heat. We all picked various tacos off the menu. I chose the tinga (marinated chicken) barbacoa (pulled beef) and Al pastor (fried pork with pineapple and onion) I opted for soft corn tortillas and made all three supreme with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and sour cream. All the tacos were yummy. If I had to pick a favorite I guess I'd choose the Al pastor. Everyone enjoyed the experience and before we knew it the staff was preparing to close.
