I've wanted to visit Panchitos for a while. Restaurant has been in business for 40 plus years. The original owners retired in 1999 and sold to their employee, Leo Limeta. Leo greeted us upon our arrival for lunch. He is was so welcoming and friendly. He promptly seated us and took drink orders, returning shortly with drinks and chips and salsa. Opting for burritos (the burrito menu alone is extensive), we were told that they come in both a medium and large size. The medium is quite generous and more than I could eat. The restaurant was a bit hard to find. It sits in back and around the corner from Scotty's Market, in a small shopping center that is quite busy. Once we found the restaurant, there was plenty of parking. There's a reason Panchitos has been in business for so long. You can count on a delicious meal at a fair price, and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We will be visiting again soon. read more

The food was horrible I am not sure how this restaurant received a good write up in the local paper I ordered a grilled chicken enchilada with red sauce. What I received was pieces of chicken in perfectly square cuts (like the pieces you get with bagged frozen chicken at the grocery store) served in a thin taco tortilla floating in some kind of brown dish water looking liquid sauce. When I say floating, I mean floating it looked disgusting This was not red sauce My friend ordered a cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was on a flour tortilla folded, and the cheese barely melted. No sides, no hot sauce, absolutely nothing else. Other restaurants at least put some salsa on or next to the quesadilla. We should've taken pictures of what was served to us. We all needed separate checks, and they were so accommodating!! So many restaurants will not do it, or the server will roll their eyes, or scoff a bit. I prefer it this way so I can tip appropriately and not worry about others pitching in the 20%. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. I had a beef enchilada with beans, rice and a salad. I ordered the macho burrito with steak and black beans. As soon as I got a few bites into it, I realized there is a reason this restaurant has been here for decades. It was delicious and packed with meat. The salsa which came with our chips was also fresh and tasty. As good as the burrito was, it paled in comparison to the service we received. "Leo" is an energetic and hospitable worker and we later found out that he is the owner. What a genuinely nice person! We will definitely make this a regular stop when we're in the neighborhood. Nothing fancy, no fru fru, just honest, delicious American-style Mexican food. Been going for as long as they've been there (40+ years) and consistency is spot on every time. Plus, they are very nice people and very accommodating to special requests. Something as minor as leaving toppings off flautas for delivery turns out to be a big thing in that the wonderfully fried flautas don't get soggy on the trip over. Just add your toppings as you wish and enjoy crispy goodness. Honestly, I don't think there is anything on the menu we don't like, and that goes for both me and my wife. We went about 25 minutes early and ordered drinks while we waited for friends they were kind and didn't mind. They brought us delicious salsa and chips while we waited. I love this place.
