Decided I wanted Mexican food before the movie at the AMC close by. I ordered 2 hard shell tortilla chicken tacos. Since they were made of chicken breast meat, I assumed they'd be dry. They were definitely not. The meat was flavorful and juicy. I'm curious as to how they cooked the chicken?? Their customer service was friendly and quick. The place was clean and modern. So, I am excited to give another review on an outstanding Mexican Resturaunt / Taco shop Located in Sunny South San Diego CA. First off I arrived at this Newer Establishment That had a cozy sit Down ambience and Newer Construction with outside seating and music. I came for Drum roll please a order of San Diego Created signature California Burrito, and Carne Asada Fries. I placed my Order of the California Burrito without Salsa Fresca AKA Pico that some Taco shops frequently add to their California Burrito which Changes up the whole texture of the Burrito in my opinion. My Wifey Was going to Order Carne Asada Fries as that is our normal go to in a Taco shop or Mexican Resturaunt Cantina, however she seen something different on the Menu. The Surf and Turf Nachos. So we placed our orders along with a Red Chile Relleno to take home as we sat at the Bar for Happy hour. Yes they Have Beer on tap and also some bottled Mexican Beers and Trulys. I Ordered a large Pacifico Clara to go with my meal. We also seen colorfully arranged Fresh Salsa and condiment Bar containing 5 salsas fresh and homade with Purple Pickled Onions and Lemon wedges . We filled our Salsa cups with all that were completely delicious. The California Burrito came out first. The Burrito came out with no Salsa Fresca / Pico as I requested . I split it to see what it looked like in the middle before I took a Bite and took a first Bite with no Salsa. Everything was Balanced . Carne had a nice little Char not too much Grease plety of Real guacamole, Touch of Sour cream and perfectly cooked Fries with semi melted cheddar Cheese . The Cali Burrito was outstanding without Salsa. I then added the Habenero Salsa and Combo of the Red regular Taquero salsa because I love to burn my mouth that's just me. Complete Fire Bomba or as the SD Taco Fiends would say in their words no disrespect Gasolina . I looked over to my Wifey and she is a tuff customer and she was done with half of her plate of Surf and Turf Nachos and was stuffed so she gave the rest to me . This was my First time I tried Surf and Turf Nachos Ever as I am traditional San Diego style Fries and Chips guy always ordering them to standard . I have to tell you I have been missing out. Pancho's makes their own homade Tortillas at this establishment and I could tell you those were the Best Nachos of any Resturaunt I have ever tasted. They were flaky and probably sinful to eat but the Best ever . Long story short but I had another Beer Modelo Negra , talked to the owner and his wife and told them that I was going to let everybody know were To get Surf and Turf Nachos that were hands down one of the best Mexican comfort foods I have tasted. It made a excellent little Happy hour date escape from the Kidos . We Told the very hospitable owners we would be back with the Kidos very soon and they told us they even have a menu to accommodate them to thier liking. BEST ROLLED TACOS I'VE EVER HAD! I ordered 3 of the basic rolled tacos, not the loaded ones, and they still came topped with lettuce , yellow cheese and white cheese, and guacamole for only $7.99. Beef, thick and crunchy. I've bought rolled tacos that look like the ones you get in the box at smart and final. NOT THESE! I will definitely be going back. read more

Ordered two burritos with no attitude or anything, specifically casually saying "no pico on one burrito", while the cashier lady agreed to it as well. I specifically said no pico because I am allergic to tomatoes....... And was not able to have a dinner on this Sunday to end the weekend. As you can see, this is the amount added of "no pico" onto my burrito in which seems like an entire scoop of. This occurred Feb 1st, 2026 at 10pm Only making this post because cashier knew damn well what she did/what the cook did. And never coming back here again. Probably won't be coming back checked it out because it's 3 mins away from home. But I get their the cashier looks inconvenience asked for a burrito if it could be cut in half... forgets and hands me over a plastic knife for me to cut it myself l. Instead of using their pro knifes there. Just bad vibe overall but the place is nice and they sell beer. Burrito was alright. read more

We stopped for lunch at Pancho's and my wife and I were pleasantly surprised! The service was excellent and they even have a self serve kiosk. Place is nice, lots of seating. The have a small salsa bar with about 5 different salsas, cured onions and lime. My wife ordered the loaded rolled tacos and they were excellent! They loaded top with carne asada and more! I had the Chuakis burrito which is Carne asada and adobabda mixed with onions cilantro and guacamole. I didn't get to take a picture but it's was great also. We will be back for sure! read more

NEVER HAS CUCUMBER IN STOCK Horrible service I've came here more than 4 or 5 times and I order the shrimp cocktail with only cucumber and avocado and cilantro the first time they didn't add cucumber And the lady behind the register didn't even offer an apology she said it doesn't come with it even tho I specifically asked for it and the second time there was a young lady there I told her there was no cucumber in the cocktail and she asked the cook if he can add it and he said they don't have any so she offered me a refund and was very polite about it now TODAY I went in and tried asking for the same thing this time she went back first and asked if they have cucumber and they told her no don't get me wrong the food is ok but to notnot carry cucumber and claim your an authentic Mexican food place you should be ashamed you know cucumber goes on most of many Mexican seafood dishes if I could give negative stars I would this place needs to get it together your in a prime location to be doing that !! read more

They have terrible customer service. I waited almost 20 minutes for a simple burrito. I tried to cancel, but they told me they couldn't refund my money. It takes too long, and the staff is rude. If you go, try to go not too hungry and with a lot of patience. read more

My mom and I went here late at night just running errands. Then, got hungry during it. We wanted to be away from the bustling part of dennery, so we stopped by here. Not many people were here maybe two other groups of people. Here they played music and have TVs with Wipeout showing that my mom enjoyed. The lady willingly switched from the music to the TV audio, so we can watch. Very considerate! It's a casual atmosphere here. Now on to the food. I would say I'm no expert in the technicalities of Mexican food, but this was all pretty good. I would definitely come back here to try some more food items. They got breakfast burritos I want to try, and it's nice to know that this place is nearby. I'm not sure when they close and open. I remember trying to find a time at the entrance of the door and on Yelp. read more

If I could give this place ZERO Stars I would but unfortunately I have to give it one. Do not waste your time, money or taste buds at this place. It's not worth it. We ordered a surf & turf burrito, carne asada burrito, chile relleno burrito & carne asada fries. Total over $65 The shrimp inside the surf and turf burrito had no seasoning at ALL. It tasted as if they just cooked the shrimp and threw it inside of burrito. The meat inside our burritos as well had no flavor and it was burnt. The cheese inside the chile relleno burrito was not even melted how it should be. To make matters worse we had just got back from an out of town trip and we were hungry and tired and decided to eat there and we waited over 20 minutes to get our food. There was also another couple in there who had ordered a carne asada torta and she also returned her food and left. read more

The two girl workers were being rude when ordering. Asked for extra Hot Cheetos on my fries since I previously ordered this before and they didn't add much onto it and the worked nodded and understood my request. As soon as I got my order, this came out and when I approached her with my request, she said I had to pay for it despite ordering it before. Didn't mind paying for it while I was already ordering my order but she didn't add it to my tab and when they were trying to tell me I had to pay they were VERY RUDE about it. When I asked about it the lady was very rude, when I asked about the request too. Please fix their attitudes especially that one lady. Ordered on December 8 at 1:20pm with two ladies. Hoping the management of this place can do something about that. Thanks. read more

First time coming here. I came in pretty early in the day. I wish it was warm outside so I could sit on the pretty patio chairs. The inside was also very nice and clean. I asked the girl if there was still breakfast and she said that breakfast was all day, which is nice if you want the option throughout the day. She also pointed out that there were salsas available in the back. I was pleased to know that the salsas were nicely chilled. There was also pickled onions, radishes, and limes. You know, the standard items at a Mexican restaurant. The reason for the four stars is because I ordered a steak and egg breakfast burrito. I do agree like others that the asada needed more seasoning. Mine was not chewy, but definitely under seasoned. It was a medium-sized burrito, which I am okay with. To be honest, any bigger and it would have been too much (I only ate half of mine, saving the other half). I did see in the menu that some of the non-breakfast items had chipotle mayo. I ordered it in my burrito. The girl asked if I wanted it in the burrito or on the side. I should have asked them to put the sauce inside instead. I highly recommend you ask for it in your breakfast burrito to give it that better flavor. If the owner reads this, I recommend you suggest to the customers to add the sauce for future orders. I ordered menudo soup, and it was terrible. The soup is supposed to be red, but it was black. The taste was awful. It seems like they buy canned soups from the supermarket instead of preparing fresh soups daily. Save your money and time by avoiding this place. It's the worst restaurant, and considering it's Mexican food, they should be making the best. read more

I'm very picky when it comes to my shrimp cocktails the first time I had them there about a month ago it was delicious this time it was still good it was a little too sweet for me but I added some lime and it was great it's made fresh in house some shrimp was not gummy or anything it was perfect my husband had the beef burrito and my daughter had the Cheeto burrito which was interesting but delicious. The Ambiance in there is amazing you walk in everybody's Smiles they say hello it's actually a taco shop so you can get tacos it doesn't have to be fish or anything they have applied for their liquor license so they can sell beer so soon as they do my husband and I will be there for beers and shrimp cocktail read more

Came here for dinner, I got the two beef enchiladas, rice and beans that came with a salad on top of the enchiladas. The enchiladas were soggy, fell apart not enough shredded beef and drenched in enchilada sauce. The rice was cold and to top it off the salad wasn't properly drained which made my food watery. First and last time coming to this place. Save your money and go elsewhere it's not worth the $40.00 bucks spent on 2 meals. read more

One of the worst taco shops ever!!! Salsa bar is the only thing that is worth mentioning... probably to cover up food. Ordered bacon breakfast burrito for almost $14...ordered without potatoes because last time potatoes were under cooked. Bacon was soft and flabby and the fact that I work at Home Depot makes it worst because it's the closest taco shop. Why are the prices so fricken high. Take my advice pls go to another taco shop in area it will be worth the drive. read more

Don't go to this location if you like the panchos experience. The only thing I can see as being the same is the sign. No chips served when dining in. Burritos are small and under built. It's more expensive. Try it if you have nothing close by, but if you're like me and was like "oh man cool, a Panchos!" You'll be just as upset as I am because this place is a joke. read more

Service was great! Our cashier was amazing. We purchased on 2/14/25 at about 9:15pm. My issue is simply who the FFFFFFFFFFFF puts guacamole INSIDE a quesadilla????????? Ordered the surf and turf burrito, caldo de pescado, 3 birria mini tacos, and the angus chipotle fries. All the food was tasty and fresh and hot (temp)! Was greeted as soon as we walked in with smiles and generosity. Immediately noticed the place was clean and looked new and well organized. (Someone had a fresh order of chiliquiles verde when we arrived, and they looked delicious!) I'd absolutely return and order everything we already tried again or something new on the menu. Had to leave a review for this panchos location, the food was excellent! The carne asada is really delicious. I had a California burrito and it was so flavorful. I also made a mistake when ordering online and the restaurant remade my food which I was so grateful for. Both the cooks and the lady taking orders were very understanding and kind. I'm sorry, but after the ninth time of giving these guys a chance, I just have to read at one star. Customer service is not bad and I can tell they are clean as well but the food is just blend and doesn't have good seasoning. It's like eating food with no taste if that makes any sense Overall if you're hungry this place will fill you up but don't expect anything to taste good it will be like eating air no taste. read more

This place has the smallest burritos I've ever seen. The carne asada has zero seasoning, it's just gray meat. Their guacamole is more like a guacamole salsa. The tortillas can be cooked a bit more. I would not recommend this place when there are much better places near. Ain't no way anyone thinks this place is good read more

Like they say, first impressions are the most important! Called in the usual order, Carne Asada Burrito, Quesadilla and Fish tacos. Drove in to pick up and the lady at checkout said just waiting on the "enchiladas." My wife said we never ordered enchiladas (side note: we never order enchiladas at all anywhere) lady said I repeated the order to you on the phone and you confirmed. She never repeated the order - strike one for lying!. She switched enchiladas for the quesadilla. She charged us for the higher price of the enchiladas rather than adjusting for the lower price of the quesadilla. I know it's just mere cents but it's the principle. She told us, "At least the order is right" and giggled. Strike two for dishonesty!. How are you going to gain the trust of the community (especially if you just opened up) if you are blaming the community/customer and ripping them off little by little. . About the food, burrito needed more flavor but not nasty. Fish tacos were pretty good and quesadilla, what the type of cheese was that. It did not pull/ stretch like normal cheese would. Sadly, it's a nice looking place but dishonesty we can do without. My advice for owners is watch carefully for customer service. Go to Torito's Mexican grill, there is a lady that works the front and learn customer service from her. Always inviting and puts the the customer first. For the burrito, go to Armando's on Hollister - wow! We will not return. Remember, people will tell 10 more people regardless read more

But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. My order was placed by Caesar today for my lunch time meal at 12:30 PM. I ordered one Beans and Cheese Burrito. The price is $7.50. Then I had to pay a tip of 20 percent that came up to $1.25. The tax was $1.50. My total purchase today was $9.25. I had to wait at least 30 minutes later until my order number 109 was called to the front counter today. There was non stop walk in customers coming into this California Burrito Restaurant at the lunch hour between 12:30 AM to 2:30 PM today. Their majority of their customers were of Mexican descent and I saw only 3 Black People placing their orders with Caesar today. I was the only Asian person ordering from this California Burrito Restaurant this afternoon. I also noticed 2 Nurses picking up their orders today who work for Sharp Memorial Hospital today. This man and woman nurse were of Caucasian descent. It's interesting for me to get to know the population of people who are living nearby this Starling Drive location.
