8-31-14 I travel a lot looking for the different variations of Classic Mexican food We stopped by Panchos seeking a fresh well cooked meal. I ordered the prawns and scallops over rice and my wife had the combo beef enchilada and chili rellano My prawns and scallops were cooked perfectly and the quality of the ingredients was outstanding. Everything FRESH MADE. Tortillas, chips, salsa all home made and very good. My wife's food was very flavorful and a perfectly cooked. chili rellano , nice a crispy on the outside and loaded with cheese on the inside. Enchilada was loaded with beef and basted in a great sauce. Beans are homemade NOT CANNED and very flavorful. A lot of hard work goes into the preparation of the food and it is all served by a very pleasant wait staff. The fried ice cream was the crowning glory to top off this very pleasant experience. Very reasonably priced Portion size was more than I needed We will defanantly be coming back soon. read more

I have been craving Mexican food lately, especially taco truck tacos. We stopped in for a quick lunch on Thursday, I had the fish tacos, grilled to perfection white fish, lots of fresh lettuce and tomatoes and an excellent Mexican ranch dressing. Yum! Ex BF had their new green pork salad loaded with flavorful pork, fresh vegs, and real pieces of avocado. Their salsa is warm and fresh and home made. Victor our server who is also the manager brought mild salsa for the toddler with out us asking, cool to have the little one get her own salsa. Good grill cheese sandwich and they let us substitute Mexican rice for the french fries. They have a good variety on their lunch menu with items under $5. read more

The food was ok but just ok...the service was horrible I don't know what was wrong with the older woman and the busser girls attitude towards me but they made the whole dining experience uncomfortable..As I always do I asked for spicer salsa I was wondering why the older lady was kinda smirking when she dropped it off at the table...ill tell you why its because they dumped a s*it ton of habanero sauce in their salsa and gave it to me sarcastically My husband was victim of it thanks...He has stomach problems as it is ....but you didn't get the last laugh I did because your plan to burn me literally didn't work because I drink habanero for fun haha to you I liked it!!!but what a nasty thing to do you could've really made some one sick that way!!! We went to Poncho's last evening. My husband & I had been there a few years ago & werent thrilled that our friends had chozen this restaurant. HOWEVER we were in for a wonderful treat. The menu had the regular Mexican cuisine choices along with some specialties. My husband opted for a combo plate which he rated 4 out of 5. Three of us had the Shrimp Lover's burrito and rated it 5 out of 5. It was very busy...to the hectic point, but our waitress, Cathy was attentive and explained that 2 large groups had changed seating arrangements twice. Even with the confusion, our food arrived within a decent time. Thanks to the good taste and quality of our food and our friendly waitress, we had a lovely evening and will definately return. read more

Went here last week and it was super slow, we were the only ones there. Went to the bathroom and there was blood all over the sink. When I went back for salsa and chips, there was a long hair on my husbands chip full of salsa. Not to mention the prices are now higher then Celito Lindo, and not as fast or authentic, not to mention at Celito Mindi, you can watch them cook your food. read more

We were recommended by a local, and what a great recommendation! If you are looking for obnoxious service and over-the-top decor that you'll pay for on the bill, go someplace else. What you'll find here is great service, with a really nice style, a casual vibe, and really good food. I had a Pancho's Enchilada and my husband had fajitas. We were both really happy. The food is flavorful and portions are (too) generous. Prices were very reasonable. Next time we'll sit at the bar. It looked like lots of great characters swing by!. read more

Sanitized, Americanized "Mexican" food. Looks like Disneyland, tastes like nothing. Bland, uninspired, tasteless. The staff however is very nice, and the restaurant is clean. If you want real Mexican food, this isn't it. If you want a margarita and pretend Mexican, then you could do worse. read more

Brookings has no shortage of Mexican restaurants, and I've always found them average to just below. But Pancho's makes a great margarita, and their grilled fish salad is one of my favorite dishes at any restaurant in town. Would this be a four-star establishment in a bigger city? Maybe not. But if you're looking for the best Mexican in town, this is the spot. read more

Amazing Mexican restaurant !!! The minute we walked in we were greeted by smiles and friendly staff. The staff all acted like it was their first day at work (happy to be there).They were so nice! I can't remember the last time someone greeted us at a restaurant like this. The place is CLEAN. By far the cleanest Mexican restaurant I've ever seen. They accommodated our large family and immediately served us ice water and smaller cups with lids for the kids, along with TWO different kinds of salsas...one with no spice for the kids and the other one with spice for the adults. The food and drinks came out in no time. The beans and rice were amazing. The kids loved the cheese burgers. We were so impressed and can't wait to go back!! A+ read more

It was good to return to the restaurant formerly known as Rubio's (since the 1970's). Pancho's seems to have kept almost everything as it was, which is good! The service was great. The food, while, its own brand of Mexican, is also quite good. I like the chili relleno, enchilada and taco combo which has held the same price since forever. The salsa had changed slightly, but when I asked for a hotter offering, I was VERY pleased with the habanero salsa. The only aspect I would like to see changed would be the taco shells, but it's Brookings and I am happy it continues to be there! read more

We just enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Pancho's while traveling through Oregon. Plenty of parking in the back. We were greeted immediately, and chips and salsa and water were provided right away. We ordered two crispy tacos with lots of shredded beef, lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. Rice and beans were delicious and everything was very fresh and hot. We lucked out on margaritas as happy hour ends at 7:00pm. So we paid half price for blackberry margaritas that were to die for! We will definitely be back our next time through Brookings! read more

The food was nothing to write home about but the service was terrible. When I asked if there was a dinner special the waitress randomly points to an item in my open menu & say ' umm how about that one'. "No" would have been the honest answer. The chips & salsa were stale & bland, so disappointing. When our food did finally come, we had no silverware. She brought us silverware & *1* paper napkin. We did not see her again until she brought the check. We will not be returning. There are other places with better food & service that actually want to earn our money. read more

Quick update. Just had a blast at the bar with the personable bartender Dez and a mix of customers. Grilled fish salad continues to be spectacular, as does everything else at Pancho's. Put the other Mexican restaurants in Brookings on the "pay no mind" list and advance directly to Pancho's...... you won't regret it. read more

We ate here during our over-nighter in Brookings.The service was great, the food hot and tasty and the atmosphere warm and inviting. The strawberry margarita hit the spot. The two of us went on a Sunday for early dinner at 4p. The service was very very slow. 20 min to get chips and water, another 12 min wait for our order to be taken. During that time, a gentleman that had ordered ahead received his food and the whole order was wrong (and he got rather upset). 52 min after arriving, we got our food. Food was hot and delicious, so I'll give them 3 stars, but we will not go back or even bother calling in an order. read more

Just had dinner at Panchos on 9/27/2015, just want to fore warn any future diners. They lost over 7 of their staff today at once. The food and service was the worst we have ever experienced. It took over 30 minutes for the waitress to even take our order and she got my wife's order wrong after all that. The busboy was more help than our waitress ever was and we tipped him accordingly. read more

Very very very good. I've now eaten there 4 times in 3 weeks. The food was and is so tasty and the staff is wonderful. I agree with the first reviewer the Chili Rellenos are terrific. The prices are GREAT. Lunch is a really good deal. Like for Chili Relleno, rice, beans, ice tea it was $6.05. They do have a full bar and when I have had dinner I have had their margaritas that are very tasty. Its right on the 101 so if you are traveling north it is easy to spot. The parking lot is always full so they must be very good according to the locals as well.... read more

Solid mexican food with great prices. We were there with 8 people, everyone got something a little different and everything came out pretty good. Nothing super crazy, but good quality no frills food at great prices. Our tab for 8 of us, including a few drinks was under $90, and I would like to see you be able to go to most places for similar quality food and spend that little. read more

We're from out of town and really in the mood for Mexican. Wow! This was the best from start to finish. Service was excellent, cheese enchilada and beef tacos my husband said were great. I had a shrimp enchilada and it was the best! Cadillac margarita topped it off and was out of this world. Pancho's - Mexican Near Me - Brookings, Oregon

Ate here recently and, while the food is still excellent, the service disappointing. They seemed to be quite understaffed for an evening dinner crowd. Factor in that summer time in Brookings means more visitors and more business, management should be much better prepared to offer good service, rather than reducing staff. Took a long time to get anyone to take our drink orders, even longer for anyone to notice we hadn't had our dinner order taken for almost a half hour, then when we ordered , they mixed up my dinner with someone else's. Hopefully they will address this and have plenty of staff on hand for dinner service. read more

I love Pancho's! I know the family that owns the restaurant and they good a really good job overall. The service is always great and the staff is super friendly. This is usually my go to spot when I go out to eat in Brookings. They have bar seating and outdoor seating as well which is always convenient. If you're looking for a place to get the night started or to grab dinner I'd definitely recommend Pancho's. Their lunch deals are also phenomenal. I usually am pretty simple when it comes to Mexican food. I like to get a hard shell chicken taco, chicken enchilada and rice and beans. You can get that during lunch for about $5! read more

Uhm, it's sort of thoroughly average Mexican fare. Makes me miss Torero's, which was still open the last time I had been in Brookings. All things said, this place is not as good, the portions are huge and the staff was nice enough, but the food was just tasteless, and worst of all, there was no hot sauce on the table.... I generally prefer food much hotter than average, so I know that for American tastes Mexican will get watered down to below what I like, but there were no options for spiciness, and no hot sauce bottles on the tables, so there was nothing to be done to bring it back to a pleasant level of taste, which means that all the service and portion size in the world cannot redeem the feeling of averageness in the restaurant. read more

All the Mexican restaurants in Brookings are Americanized to some extent. They are all very similar in what they serve, and how it tastes. Pancho's is my favorite for our area. They are consistent and I enjoy the meals I have had here. I also appreciate their kids menu and nice staff! After a not so great experience at La Flor, I stopped going there and now rely on Pancho's. They have accommodated us for large groups and always bring you refills, more chips, salsa, etc. They also have many salsa's for every different palate. We usually have 3 different kinds at our table! My kids love everything on the kids menu and sometimes if can be hard for them to like anything, so that says a lot. My husband loves their burrito's, I love their carne asada. Great portion sizes and prices. Love the outdoor seating area, they even have heaters if it gets a bit chilly. Nice bar area and great decor. We have been coming here for over 10 years, when they had their old building, and will keep coming back! read more

This is an exellent Mexican Restaurant. The Ex-Rubio's really did a masterful job remodeling. Great decor and very good food. You can't go wrong here. It is located the east side of 101 heading north out of town. We are local and eat here often. read more

Their portions are large and in charge! they are super cheap and delicious. The place is really clean, the service is fast. My family and I go out there a lot, its the go to place for mexican food which we love! The margaritas are jose, serious tequila! I love this place. Great servers are always fun and friendly, the food is second to none, the margaritas are made just right, and .it's very clean and has an old time homey feel to the place. I sometimes call in a take out order and you just pull up to the take out window and don't even have to leave your vehicle. That's nice when it's raining like heck. read more
