I have not had such a wonderful, authentic full menu of truly amazing Mexican dishes since the dining experience I had as a teenager in Oklahoma City! Believe it or not the best Mexican cuisine outside of Mexico are scattered in Oklahoma and Texas since they are very close to the border. The Cazadores is located at the harbor near Brookings. The restaurant is quite big and nicely adorned. The service was little slow due to large crowds for Sunday. I ordered chicken breast on rice cooked with cheese and mushrooms. It was a huge serving and big surprise at how great it tasted. We ordered three dishes among four of us. The foods are served in an enormous dish and the extra condiments are generous! The beef Quesadilla with flour tortillas were fantastic. I didn't care for my friend's enchiladas. Overall absolutely deserving five stars. Truly a gourmet classic Mexican restaurant. read more

I truly don't get the good reviews for this restaurant. We stopped there for lunch, to get a burrito to-go. The interior looked nice - a good sign, but the rest was awful. They had ONE burrito on the lunch menu and by burrito, I mean a flour tortilla with either hamburger, chicken (probably just poached or boiled because it had ZERO flavor) or shredded beef (no other choices of meat, which should have been a "sign", but we were hungry). The menu only offered the burrito with beans and rice on the side, so I requested that they be put IN the burrito - that didn't seem to be a problem although the server acted a bit surprised, which should have been a warning (what Mexican restaurant doesn't have a burrito with beans and rice IN it?). I also asked that they cut the burrito in 1/2, since we were headed to the river, for lunch - that might have been a clue to the server that we weren't thinking we were going to get a single plate of slop, but no... We wait a reasonable amount of time, and I'm handed a plastic bag with what appears to be a plate in it. I thought it was a bit strange, but what the heck...I paid and put the bag in the car. We drove to the river and discovered that, in the bag were 2 plates both covered in foil, One was on top of the other, to act as a "lid" since apparently they don't have TOGO boxes - VERY convenient for a trip to the river - NOT! On the bottom plate was a chicken burrito, COVERED IN SAUCE - say what? The menu did not indicate anything about a "wet burrito"...why would I assume that it would be WET, if that wasn't mentioned? The burrito did contain the beans and a TINY bit of rice that we requested be put inside, and it was cut in 1/2, but the whole thing was horrible! Zero flavor in anything inside, especially the chicken - as mentioned above, it tasted like it was poached or boiled. The rice was slightly "pink", again with no flavor and same with the beans. My husband didn't eat more than 1 bite and tossed it - the whole thing was just a mess. We won't be back. read more

This food was so freaking good! We get Mexican food in the Bay Area all the time, but it never tastes this quality. The last time we had food this good was in Tuscon, AZ about 10 years ago. They take pride in their work! I got a tamale and chili relleno and husband got a Chimichanga ( which was Stellar). Refried beans were creamy and delicious. The pork is soo good. It tastes like it has been cooked for hours, maybe a little too much, but it can be compared with jerky if that is the point. The rice was good, beans on par, pico just right, and guac just like it should be. They even have home cooked chips which are good, they forgot the salt though. Area is composed of fishing companies, could see and smell tons of used crab cages stored stacked high waiting to be used/cleaned for next season. Surprised that food tasted so good. Glad they did not cater to the palate of tourist or locals. The food tasted flavorful and well seasoned like it's supposed to taste. Salsa for the warm chips was awesome. I cannot rate this place highly enough! The first time I tried it, it was on a whim with my boyfriend during a weekend away in Brookings. We were hungry and they just happened to be open and close to our hotel. Our first time ever trying Molcajete and it was DELICIOUS. It has a deep, rich sauce, bacon wrapped shrimp, steak, chicken, grilled green onions, poblano peppers, cilantro, and tomatoes. It also comes with a side of rice and beans as well as cheese/lettuce/pico de gallo and tortillas to make tacos. After trying it the first time, we decided to make the 2.5 hour trip again while my mom visited and got the 2 person Molcajete (pictured in the review). The sauce had a little less depth to the flavor, but still just as delicious!! The chips and salsa are really good too, it's hard to keep from eating the whole basket. We've decided that we will make the 2.5 hour trip from California monthly just to get this Molcajete! The girl that waited on us was super sweet and attentive, even after a customer was being an asshole and pitching a fit in the restaurant. We will keep coming back! read more

In my honest opinion they are the best Mexican food restaurant in Brookings/Harbor. Super clean, great salsa, hot chips, and some of the better Chile Verde I've ever had and at good prices. The Carne asada is not the best but you get what you get around this area. But overall a great place to go to get your Mexican fix. read more
