The food was good, but the service was horrible! We ate out on the patio. It took a while to be noticed that we were ready to order our meals. Then it took forever to get our food. Then, when we were finished, it took forever to get our bill. My husband had to go ask twice for our bill. We got there around 6:00 & finally were able to leave at 8:00! Chicken enchaladas were great. Fresh homemade red sauce was delicious. Came with rice & pinto beans. Beans were a little boring. Homemade salsa was great. Bought some to take home. Tex mex soup was very flavorful but there was too much chicken ( which was kinda dry) & not enough veggies for my taste. Had a yummy margarita! Place was very clean & nice ambiance. Everyone was very friendly. & service was great & with a smile! Would have given a 5 if not for the beans & dry chicken in the soup. Loved the fajitas, my husband and I both ordered the steak fajitas and they were delicious. The salsa was very good and so were the chips! I had a strawberry and mango margarita and it was strong and amazing. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the guacamole as it did not have tons of flavor. Just had dinner at Pancho's--two carne asada tacos with rice & beans for about $10. The things the restaurant has going for it are ample parking, nice decor, attentive wait staff, and large portions. However, my carne asada, while tender, was basically flavorless. The tacos were huge, though, and along with the meat had lots of grilled onions and cilantro, plus nearly a half an avocado between the two. Would I go back? Probably, but I'd order something else. read more

I don't know how this place is getting so many positive reviews - perhaps people just don't require such a high level of excellence in their food - I also didn't think that any place could get any worse than Playa De Sol in Gold Beach until we visited this place - HORRIBLE FOOD - The service was great, clean place but the food is HORRIBLE - I ordered two taco's with enchilada, rice/beans - the taco's came out with store bought shells and the chicken was tough and rubbery - Rice and Beans were over cooked or over microwaved - dry to the bone - I wanted to kick it back but I waited to long to eat and was starving - my other half had the same experience with his barrito - we will not go back - go to the other mexican food restaurant across the street and south about 1/2 block - read more

Looking for an alternative to fast food while traveling through Brookings we stumbled upon Pancho's. The first thing we noticed was how clean the restaurant was. Even the restrooms were spotless. The employees were friendly and happy and our food was served fast and hot while our drinks never went empty. My fish burrito, although nothing fancy, was delicious. We will definitely stop again next time through. read more

We have since moved to North Bend but having lived in Brookings for a year we dearly miss our favorite restaurant. Great food at a very reasonable price. Especially during the lunch time. We heard the people at the next table say that it was less expensive to eat there than at McDonald's. Which it is. The people who run the place are very friendly and the workers are very thoughtful. Had the Panchos Burrito on the recommendation of the server when I asked for something spicy. The meat was cheap beef inserted in a wrap. There was a hot sauce around the outside of the burrito, but the sauce was nothing special. It came with the typical refried beans and rice, and the salsa. This is just another Torrero's, or Rancho Viejo. It is what you would expect, and that's okay. Two stars because I have, indeed, experienced better, and that is not to discredit the praise of others. read more

We were allowed to seat ourselves. Received a menu in a timely manner, but that's where the 'service' falters. We were the only ones in the main dining room. We sat there 15 minutes before the guy came to take our orders. We had even put down our menus to signal we were ready for a good 10 minutes, at least. The food was pretty good. I had veggie fajitas, which really was mostly onions, could have had a lot other vegetables in it. The sauce was good, though. My husband had the steak enchilada. He loved it. Then we waited another 15-20 minutes after we were done to receive our check. The main dining room was filling up by then. It was mostly guy waiters. They need to be more attentive. I'm going to go back to Rancho Viejo. At least the service there is excellent. read more

We heard about Poncho's thru Yelp. Everyone was giving great reviews so we decided to give it a try. My friend is handicapped and has to use a walker to get around. There is one handicap parking slot which was taken when we arrived. We parked as close as we could to the door which was somewhat hilly. She has problems with hills. We went into the restaurant and tried to find a somewhat level area to sit. The tables were set so that one or more chair legs were on gravel and the rest on uneven slab type rocks which made it difficult for her to get seated. Once seated, we waited for a server to come by....none showed up until we'd been there about 5 minutes. She said, "Oh, I didn't know you were there." They had been walking by us for almost 5 minutes. The waitress brought us water and a menu. We looked and finally decided on what we would have for dinner. Finally, the waitress came by again and took our order.. fajita tacos and carne asada. The patio only had two tables with diners other than us. About ten minutes later, our food was brought out. In all honesty, it was not even average in flavor and it wasn't as hot as it should have been. We didn't see the waitress again. We had to ask for water. The bus girl brought out the check. We paid her and left. We will never return to Poncho's. read more

I have no idea why this restaurant, has 4 stars! They have no idea to accommodate more than a party of 4. We're told 15 minutes to be seated, waited 40 minutes. Then waited 20 minutes to get our drink orders, we we told the we were ready to order, we were told it would be another 30 minutes before they could even order. It doesn't matter how good the food could be, with this type of service who cares! If you go here plan on being there for at least 2 hours before you even get served. My wife and I loved the Salsa. Both Dishes were Good my carne asada had a wonderful flavor to it. Bathrooms were clean, well lit and had beautiful paintings on the walls not what one usually expects from a mexican restaurant. Restaurant has an hybrid sort of outdoor area with nice plants but is still sheltered above but open on the sides to the outdoor air. I did notice they say the food is Puerto Rican which might have some tasted differences - I'm not a food connoisseur or anything just something worth mentioning. We saw tons of Mexican places on the drive back to portland and were concerned about allergies. My wife is DF and GF and the server was helpful with this and she was able to eat there w/o getting sick. We bought 3 cans of the salsa to go and gave one away we only have half a jar left and it's been less than a week. Maybe they will mail order it to us? Not really a yelper but this was a pleasant surprise on the way back from a trip to the redwoods; enough to warrant writing about it. read more

This place kicks-ass all around.....service, fantastic.....value, we had two lunches for $9.90!.....quality of food, excellent!.....I wanted a tamale and asked which meat would be best....server suggested the meatless (which is chili and cheese as I found out later) and so I went for it. We decided to try this place based on reviews we read on yelp and we were not disappointed. The food was fabulous!!! The sauces were amazing and full of flavor. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. I doubted the idea of a fantastic Mexican dining experience on the Oregon coast and was delightfully proved wrong. We recently moved to Brookings and had a friend visit us for this week. We checked yelp for a good Mexican restaurant and selected Pancho's. I do not understand how this place got 4 stars. We arrived on a busy Saturday night so did not expect fast service but we waited nearly 20 minutes before our order was taken while nearby tables seated at the same time were served their food. After our order was placed we waited over 40 minutes before 2 of our 3 meals was served, the third meal arrived 15 minutes later! Tables seated at the same time as us had actually finished their meals when we were finally served. At no time did the wait staff apologize for the long wait or for ignoring us. The food was out of a can, at least that's what it tasted like. A quesadilla we ordered arrived looking deep-fried and tasting very greasy. Everything else was either very salty or bland. We had hoped for good food after realizing how poor the service was but this was a bad experience all the way around. We will not eat here again. read more

After reviewing this site we decided to try Panchos after a long day playing on the beach. We were sat outside as that was the only place at the time to accommodate a party of 8. Our children sat at an adjacent table due to only have a table big enough to sit six. After waiting 15 minutes, we were finally brought water and then drinks some time later.... after attempting to order our dinner 3x due to the tablet not working, only the adults were able to order and we were told she would be back to take the kids order. 15 min later of not seeing her, 2 of our dinners were brought out and out kids still hadn't ordered. 5 dinners total were brought out and one adult was still missing hers. At this point we had to wait for our forks. We sat for almost 10 minutes with our dinner getting cold and no forks... An additional dinner was brought that we didn't order and then the children's food orders came. But we were still missing one person's food. All of us were done and then of course when it was brought it was wrong. Lovely. We got no refills on our drinks or more chips and salsa. We asked for a manager and we're told that she was out of town and there was nobody in charge.... they only offered a 10% discount. It was a terrible experience and we will never go back. read more
