It's Panda Express. Food is scooped cafeteria style and is similar to what you would get in a mall. Not bad, but it's fast food Chinese. My daughter and I stopped by for lunch and she has never been. She liked the food and thought it was ok. Nothing special but nothing bad. The cashier asked what sauces we wanted and we didn't know what the options were. She didn't seem to like having to list them off. Lots of seating, but the dining area was t maintained well, as most empty tables seemed dirty. Came here as it was close to where I was heading to next. Very convenient location, close to everything in Sunset Hills / Kirkwood area. Once I arrive, they didn't have walnut shrimp available but they were in the process of making it. I was told 2 minute to wait which I did. About 5 minutes later, I was able to pick up my order. No complaints about the wait as I knew my order would be fresh and hot. I did have a few cluster chunks of rice and the veggies in the fried rice could've cooked a tad longer. The Shrimp sauce was just right and the shrimp had the perfect crunch to it. I wish they could add more walnuts. Other than that, the staff was friendly and I'd eat again if in the area. The food here is OK, and the staff is relatively polite. However, the restaurant is very dirty with many tables never cleaned off before the next customer arrives. Their napkin dispenser was completely empty and the employee trying to refill it couldn't even find new napkins. Keep your expectations reasonable and you'll be fine. read more

Long line in here, one girl doing it all working very hard to service customers. Had the one bowl of sweet and sour chicken look alike with fried rice. It was delicious. The sit down area needed a good clean up which was the problem really but when there is only one girl doing it all you can't keep the tables clean. My first Panda Express visit. I "shopped" online first to get an idea of the menu, then motored over to this brand-newish location in Sunset Hills. I must have just missed the dinnertime rush as most of the entrees were running low but the chefs against the back wall were busily preparing new items. The menu isn't typical of a non-fast Chinese restaurant in that it doesn't read like an encyclopaedia. There are about 6 or 7 main chicken and beef dishes and a couple of seafood and vegetarian options. There are also some very generic sides (brown rice, fried rice, chow mein noodles, vegetables). A huge plus is that the staff willingly provides samples if you are on the fence on any item. I usually order Kung Pao Chicken as a staple and it was one of the choices so for about $7 per platter I got a "to go" with 2 entrees and 2 sides. The Kung Pao was one of the options that was running low so I got a meager "scoop" of it and a scoop of Orange Chicken along with a heaping scoop of fried rice and chow mein. The Kung Pao was okay. Not as much of it as I'd have liked and definitely mildly spiced or minimally warm, but I didn't hate it. I suspect if I hadn't ordered the 4 option platter I would have gotten a bigger portion of KPC fresh off the stove-top as a "Bowl" entree. The Orange Chicken was sweet and chewy, as I'd expect. The fried rice was definitely a disappointment. The "fried egg" that is a major component of fried rice was completely absent and it was essentially a plate of loose saffrony yellow rice with a couple bits of peas and carrots. Very little flavor. The low mein noodles were okay. Nothring to write home about. I also grabbed 2 chicken egg rolls as an impulse. They were okay-ish. My overall impression after I finished scarfing everything down was...not bad, don't feel sick. Mama got Pepper Chicken and Orange Chicken with the same 2 sides. She liked hers, but she generally favors less spicy. She agreed 100% on the rice and low mein. While we did not dine inside, the restaurant space seemed very clean and inviting, the staff was very courteous. I did not see soy sauce or condiments on any of the table tops so I presume it is by request. The fried rice and low mein both would benefit from some kind of flavor injection like soy so it must be behind the counter. Here's the snapshot. For about $17 we got two heaping meals of "meh" food and were out the door in less than 5 minutes. Arrived home and the food still had a temp which is a plus. Neither of us got sick. Huge plus. Is it my favorite Chinese in St Louis? Not by a long shot, and I'm still desperately looking for a place that can consistently deliver flavor and value that I'm used to in good Chinese. It's crossed off my list at least. Too many other options for me to say I'll definitely return. read more

This was my first panda express visit and i was super impressed! I've always stayed away from the one in the mall because it looks dirty and gross, but this location was super clean and the staff was very friendly. You walk in, choose size of plate, and walk down the line telling them what you'd like. You pay at the end of the counter and grab your own soft drink if you want. Panda in Sunset Hills, Missouri. I ordered 3 dinners. All our bowls got considerably less entree ( less than a scoop) than what we normally get when we go there. I let the employee know after she bagged my order. We drive 15 minutes to go there knowing what we're getting every time we go there. After dinner rush, i called and spoke to the Manager named Ana. She told me that she heard me say something to the employee (Erica) and she glanced at my food and she thought my food was fine so she didn't say anything to me. I asked her how she could tell my food was fine when I my food was already in the bag, tied in a knot when I said something to her employee. Ana also said that Panda Express is changing the amount of food their putting on orders and the employees have been retrained. She mentioned there is a scale that weigh the food. It's also one scoop. I don't know how to believe that because not all scoop will weigh the same. Further more I watched other employees on the line scoop more than one scoop and it's only this one employee doing one scoop that is not full. Now you could pay the same amount of money but you don't know how much you're gonna get. I feel totally shortchanged and the manager was in no way at all willing to do a good customer service.It is evident that she needs some customer service training. read more

Quick, well prepared Chinese takeout. Very friendly staff. Saw them help an elderly couple get seated and bring their food to them instead of making them wait standing up. I can see how things might be slower if it were a busy night, but they do a good job of moving things along. Lots of options on the menu. The chicken fried rice and egg roles were delicious. I got the bowl, which said I could get a side and an entree for $6.10 but when I got my shrimp with rice I was charged $6.10 for the rice and another $1.25 for the shrimp when the sign clearly says $6.10 for both! Also the "chow main" at Panda Express are the worst quality, super dry and do not have barely any sauce on them. They taste very stale and I will never purchase them again. I love Panda Express and often times come to this location if I'm looking for a quick dinner on my way home from work. Generally the food is correct and good but the customer service is seriously lacking at this location.
