After work shenanigans... With the latest Pop Mart craze me and my work bestie did the next best thing...visit the newest Miniso and dove into the blind box fun as took a dose of some much needed retail therapy which followed some refueling after all we exerted quite a bit of cardio lol! With a bit of discussion I didn't want to go very far and went right across to Panda Express as she wanted rice and I remember than I had a birthday redemption which is quite generous and it's a choices of small entree or medium side with purchase and I went with a medium side but since my bestie was getting a plate mine item was free which was a side of Chow Funn and worked out perfectly. This Panda Express is located on a small food section next to Chili's and does have it's own sectioned parking lot which makes it easy and is designated for those in the area. Walking in I love how clean the restaurant is and starts with the usual flow at the order counter to start your selection, the staff is very nice and friendly as I showed my reward I was given it promptly and we enjoyed our dinner which followed by our fortune cookie that was so much fun to crack open. Hungry after arriving in Honolulu after a flight from mainland. Stopped at the Panda Express off the Waikele exit. Waited for the fresh Broccoli Beef to be ready. Wanted something quick for a late lunch so popped in here and got a Cub meal- Panda Express' version of the kids meal. It comes with small portions of 1 side carb and entree, a choice of water or juice, fortune cookie. I chose the teri chicken without the sauce. The chicken itself was already seasoned and it was perfect by itself. The girl chopped up 3 pieces of meat which I thought was pretty generous. I've heard sometimes it depends on the server. I hate going to a restaurant not feeling satisfied because they didn't serve enough this location is a rip off. Last time this happened I was at the Mililani Town Center Panda Express and the manager on duty happened to serve me there too, but didn't serve my husband or son (they got larger portions, of course). Why do I always attract the manager??? Prices went up: $10.71 for 2-item plate with a starch. We had three take outs and one small soda: $39.00, close to $40.00 because it was an additional $1.50 for my honey walnut shrimp. I had the honey walnut shrimp, the chow fun and the fake orange vegetarian chicken (not very good). I ended up with diarrhea. Not sure what gave me the runs. Probably the shrimp. I love eating Chinese food and this location was pretty busy during lunch time but the line goes quickly. Hubby ordered for me. He knows what I like. He got me half and half, fried rice and noodles with mushroom chicken and fried tofu with eggplant. The two dishes were delicious and made to order when they run out of food. To drink I got a Coke zero. I got a large drinks which I didn't have to refill because it was a lot of soda. The inside had tables but the tables with 4 chairs were taken. Mother in law and I sat together at the tables with two chairs along the wall and hubby and daughter sat behind us. The restroom was in the back and I think they only have one restroom. I saw a guy waiting in line. I would definitely come to this location if I am in the area. Limited parking up front. It's a small parking lot. read more

Not sure quite what happened or got lost in translation. I ordered two plates, two egg rolls, and an order of cream cheese Rangoons. I left with everything except for the second entree on my second plate. It was supposed to be chow mein, sesame chicken, and Beijing beef. I opened my plate only to find that there was no Beijing beef. The cashier even opened the plates to check what he entered on the terminal and charged for both entrees even though there was a hole in the second plate. Very disappointing especially when I was looking forward to the Beijing beef the most. I unfortunately will not be going back to this Panda Express due to the negligence of the workers. Phone ordered 2 plates, 1 of them w/ a 3rd entree (broccoli beef w/out the beef). I have been loving their new Crispy Almond Chicken. It's hard to explain the flavor which I like but it is crispy on the outside (like it's name suggests) but it's also soft as you bite into the chicken breast. I order the Beijing beef now n then for its crispy texture as well. For starch, I usually do Super Greens + either chow mein or fried rice. On the second plate, the wife has her usual Honey WalnutShrimp, OrangeChicken w/ Chow Fun w/ a side entree of Broccolibeef w/out the beef lol. In comparison to the locations in Waipio and Ewa Beach, the location at Waikele tends to give less protein portions. At my most recent visit I inquired and tried to reason w/ the Manager, Rose, but unfortunately she wasn't as professional or as helpful as I anticipated. Rose exemplified her customer service skills by being rude, condescending and embarrassing me. Overall, I highly recommend Panda Express, but if you appreciate consistency in quality, portions and an overall customer satisfaction experience than I'd recommend you visit another location. read more

Free egg roll and drink in Waikele, Oahu... My friend, Alana, and i received coupons for a free 22 ounce drink and a free egg roll when we were at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles. We tried to redeem our coupons at that mall and waited in a long line. When we got to the cashier, we were told that we had to wait until February 5 to use the coupons. Uhg! So, when I got home to Hawaii, I made sure to make use of my coupons. I was shopping at the Waikele Outlets in Waipahu when I saw that a Panda Express was nearby. I parked for free right in front of the store and entered an almost empty restaurant! Yay! After some discussion and showing the other staff my coupons to verify its authenticity, the cashier gave me an empty cup for me to fill at the self service soft drink dispenser while my egg roll was being cooked fresh! She gave me a bag so I could carry my sweet sour sauce along with my cup and egg roll! Nice! By the time I got home, my egg roll was still warm (and not hot enough to burn my mouth) and my drink was less fizzy - the way I prefer! Yes! Thanks for the great snack, Panda Express! And you know because you read that review but this time I came here for convenience. Talk about not much shoulder room. I think there's more shoulder room on the westbound Likelike on-ramp then the restaurant's walkway. Really two sumo wrestlers can't stand side to side here. And if there were sumo wrestlers here, all the food would definitely be gone. I had to wait for a couple of entrees since the food line was almost empty. The server apologized and offered me a complimentary drink as I waited. No need because I didn't want to get stuck holding a cup. I rushed home after getting my food and a little disappointed. First the chow mein wasn't cooked all the way. There were pockets of the chow mein that tasted like uncooked dough. Second that small container to put my walnut shrimp in was half full. I don't expect it to be jammed packed in there but more then four pieces would have been nice. Overall two stars. My server tried her best and I appreciate that. Was having dinner next door and noticed that there was a Panda Tea Bar in this Panda Express - first I've ever seen! Decided to get a drink as a "dessert" after dinner. I wanted it to be so good! But... I was let down. I usually order grass jelly with my drinks - but they had NO MORE jelly or any kind of jelly for that matter. No grass jelly, no lychee jelly, no aloe vera... disappointing. We opted for the honey boba (which wasn't very good, kind of tough). Ordered the wintermelon milk tea with 50% sweetness - might as well have been 100%. That drink was so sweet! Couldn't really taste the wintermelon either... ended up sipping on the drink because I was thirsty but didn't finish it as it wasn't all that great. Food-wise, most Panda Express' are the same. Same menu items, same great taste. That's one of the nice things about Panda Express - consistency between locations. But at this particular location, the seating is something to be desired. All tables are tables for 2 only, and then they have a small counter that seats 3 or 4. And here's the kicker - they only have one high chair. My favorite items at Panda are the chow mein, chicken breast with string beans, orange chicken, and steamed fish fillet. Great place for take out or dine-in for 2 people. But not a good place to dine-in if you've got more than one small child or a large group. Save your receipt and fill out the online survey for the code for a free entree item on your next visit. This location has a tea bar. read more

I notice recently that the portions at Waikele is getting small. In addition, we've always order the same thing honey walnut shrimp, Beijing beef & chicken w/mushroom. The shrimp is getting smaller and smaller. Sometimes you won't even get a full shrimp but still counted as your 1/7 pieces. There's a upcharge for the shrimp that is getting smaller as well as a upcharge on the beef. But steak or beef needs to be changed to be called BITs. Out of the whole portion I was able to find 6 bits smaller than a dime and one pc was actually just grizzle. How disappointing!!! Not worth it. read more

Since opening here a few years ago, we've really enjoyed the convenience of this Panda Express location as it is just 5 mins away from home. What's even better is that this location is one with a Tea Bar too! Starches include white rice, fried rice, chow mein, and chow fun. You can also opt for steamed vegetables if you prefer. For entrees, we like our orange chicken, beef broccoli, string bean chicken, Beijing beef, sweet fire chicken, and eggplant tofu. If there is ever an entree you want that is missing, they usually have another batch cooking and out fairly quickly. Upon paying, they have an assortment of bottled drinks and pre-made teas for you to select from which is a nice touch. Parking in the lot is shared with Baskin Robins, Genko Sushi, Subway, Supercuts, Kunio, and Party City. It gets tight, especially in the evenings. I came in around 11 am on a Tuesday morning and saw that they were running low on honey walnut shrimp. I asked the ate working if there was a new batch being made, and she said "5 minutes, ading ko." We struck up conversation as she was preparing the dishes and took my order as soon as the honey walnut shrimp was done. There was a hoard of Japanese tourists who had walked in during that time frame, but ate took my order first and asked another ate to take their orders. This review is only about the Tea Bar and only for one, major reason: the straw they gave me is too skinny to drink the large boba in my tea! They only had 1 type of straw. How idiotic is this?! I kept trying, and although I was able to suck up a couple of pearls, after that, the straw got so clogged I had to peel off the top and resort to a spoon. The tea was fine. Nothing special (it's already made and they just fill the cup from the spigot), but it's fast casual dining so I'm fine with that. But to buy a drink that I can't even enjoy because of the STRAW? I was craving the Tea Bar's gen mai milk tea, so I made the trip from Pearl Harbor to here. If it wasn't for the Tea Bar this place would get 1-star from me at the most. The place is small. Good luck finding a place to sit if there's more than two of you in your group. I couldn't even order food without bumping into the people trying to get out. The food menu is the same as any other Panda Express. Typical and no surprises. The Tea Bar is VERY SLOW in service. I chalk this up to a failure in management. The Tea Bar is new and it seems like there's a great lack in training how to make the drinks. I waited more than 10mins for mine to be made. I was almost done with my food. If it wasn't for the workers providing service w a smile I would've been pretty pissed. In short: unless you're really craving one of the boba drinks at the Tea Bar that isn't served at any other boba place, avoid this store. I tried their Panda Green Milk Tea with honey boba & got a plate for lunch. Their Tea Bar offers an array of teas and lemonade with different toppings to add in with different sizes. I did enjoy the tea I ordered. And I'm glad we have a tea bar near! Now I don't need to drive far. But at the end of the day, it's still a Panda Express. Their fried rice and noodles will be good no matter what, along with their orange chicken. Also, this location is much smaller than the others. So seating is very limited.
