Yesterday I was driving down Page Avenue and saw the big panda sign. I love Chinese food, so I had to stop and give it a try. The place was super clean and the staff were really friendly. The food was set up on the steam table, and some dishes had just come out fresh when I got there. Everything smelled amazing. The spicy chicken caught my attention right away. That hot, smoky smell pulled me in. I got that with the orange chicken and white rice, and honestly, it was so good. I did notice a couple dishes on the steam table looked a little dried out, but the staff told me to order whatever I wanted and they would make it fresh. I watched a lady order beef with broccoli, and even though the one on the line looked old, they had the cook make a fresh batch for her right away. Only took a few minutes. She told me she comes here every week and loves it. I ate my food in the car and finished every bite. Super filling and seriously delicious. Definitely coming back. read more

saw this place listed on social media, wanted to check it out as a result. i am generally a pretty big fan of american style chinese food, and most of the places in the STL area are like... not that great or just too old school (aka have almost no resemblance to actual chinese food... you need to strike a balance). i got some food to go from here the food was fine. it didn't look as good as it did on social media, and in particular the noodles looked kind of thin, when i was hoping for some thicker noodles. the other dishes looked fine, probably not as fresh as they could have been but overall okay. the price is fine and the value was decent, probably slightly better than what one could get at panda express, but honestly i was expecting a little more the last thing i'll say is i was surprised this place didn't do more with the interior. a lot of those chinese places people visit in america look like they are basically unchanged since the 90s, which makes sense because a lot of them might honestly have been in operation that long. panda hut is ostensibly new, but doesn't really have the interior that is really in line with design sense of 2026. read more

I really don't like to write a bad review for a local business....but yikes. The noodles were just okay, as were the crab rangoons. Everything else was, honestly, bad. Gooey, clumpy, flavorless rice, rubbery shrimp, and the soggiest breaded orange chicken I've ever had. My family and I went in with optimism, however, it is the first time in my mother's life she has thrown her entire meal away. She is over 50. Nobody was able to finish. It's like the food just chills in the pans under the heat lamps between customers. The cashier was friendly. The restaurant was pretty clean, and the bathroom was tidy as well. They have Coke products, and a Diet Coke certainly made the experience more bearable. I hope they are able to figure this out, because it's a cool concept - like a Panda Express but local. But the food is very, very lacking. read more

When I saw that this would be my 100th Yelp review, I knew that it had to be somewhere special, and when I saw that Panda Hut had opened, I knew that this would be the place. I used to eat here back in the dark ages, when it was a Jack in the Box. This was *way* pre-2016. The only person who had a camera phone at the time was Data from the Goonies. At a certain point, in the early '90s, a few kids died from eating tainted beef from Jack in the Box. Tacos dropped down to three for a dollar--a price unimaginable in Joe Brandon's America. We started eating there even more often, and believe it or not, I never suffered so much as an upset stomach. The Lord meant for me to eat here. I was surprised and perhaps a bit concerned to see that the interior of this place is nearly indistinguishable from how it looked 30-plus years ago, as if it had somehow been preserved in amber like that mosquito in Jurassic Park--this despite the fact that it sat boarded up for years. I'm surprised a squirrel or something didn't get in there. Based on the name, I assumed that this was a knockoff version of Panda Express, and I was hoping that it was full-on copyright infringement, like McDowell's in the movie Coming to America, with only slight differences in the names of menu items, e.g. Citrus Chicken instead of Express' signature Orange Chicken; Mighty Greens instead of Super Greens. Instead, this place could more accurately be described as a version of that Dollar Chinese place that used to be down the street, but with a more conventional pricing structure. (If that place still existed, they'd have to change the name to Two Dollar Chinese, amirite?) Rather than paying a dollar per scoop of various warmed over mall food court-style Chinese entrees, you can get combos with one, two or three of them and a side of your choice, either noodles or rice. I asked the Yung Guy who was working there if he had any recommendations. He asked me if I liked spicy food (this must be an issue there). I explained to him that I'm a grown man on the wrong side of 40 with the capacity for discernment, so... uh, yes. He recommended the Chef's Special Spicy Chicken and even let me try it, as if we were at a 31 Flavors. It was delicious, and I noticed it looked fresh and abundant, like maybe they'd just brought out a pan. Which brings me to an issue you're likely to have with this place, especially if you dine in. This stuff just sits under heat lamps and may or may not be fresh. Everything I had was surprisingly good for what it was, but only the entree was truly fresh, and even that may have been a lucky coincidence. None of it was that old, but why would I want anything at all that wasn't still alive when I walked in the door? This is a Chinese restaurant, not a McDonald's. read more

This place is new and has a lot of things to work on. It's really nice on the inside and spacious. The service was really good as well but the food was bad for me. To me reminds me of a lower Panda Express I got the two entree plate with crab Rangoon and eegroll. The rice - was super mushy and tasted really salty I got the orange chicken and General Tso chicken but when I ate it I couldn't tell the difference. They tasted the same to me. The Rangoons and eggroll I didn't like at all. Maybe I'll come back in a couple months or year to see if they improved. read more

I don't want to hate on a local business, after trying three of their entrees, I was not encouraged to come back and eat more. I got their noodles, orange chicken and general tso's. I was so so hungry and everything looked so good. I had one bite of everything and instantly got disappointed. I had seen so many influencers describing how delicious the entrees were so maybe I had really high expectations. The noodles were oily and flavorless and the chicken was overly saucy, tender, and tangy but that's it. I don't think I'll come back. The restaurant is in an older restaurant so it looks dull and unattractive inside but it did look relatively clean. I picked up my order so I can't say much about the service. read more

They are a local and family owned business offering fast casual Chinese food that you can dine in, take out, drive-thru and order through multiple food delivery apps. Their menu features multiple staples such as General Tso's and Kungpao Chicken but also chef's specialties as well. I was so excited because everything looked delicious. They got good deals for the combos. I got 2 entrees and a side for $10.99. They did give generous portion because look at this big plate. FYI, For the side you can also do half noodles and half rice. In addition, to the combo, I had to try some appetizers as well. Out of the entrees I tried today, my favorite would be the General Tso's chicken and the Chef's specialty spicy beef. They definitely packed some flavors and were seasoned just right for my taste. The beef was especially tender from the Chinese velveting method. The appetizers were also a hit for me. The crab Rangoon was crispy and loaded with creamy filling and the veggie rolls were light and flaky. Overall, I enjoyed my meal a lot and this might be my go-to spot for comfort food. I highly recommend pulling up to their drive-thru next time you are in the area. read more

I was anticipating this place to be much better than it was. I ordered in the drive through and the employee taking the order in the window was inattentive (I sat there for long time before they looked over) The price is okay but the flavor does not make up for the meal while there are other/better options in the area. The chicken is all breading and no meat and the pepper steak hardly comes with beef, it is frustrating to look past that considering they had just opened. I appreciate the fast service and low prices, but I threw out most of my order last night, 3/26. The Pepper Steak and Spicy Chicken were pleasant though they appeared to each have the same 2 or 3 boring vegetables. The chicken was very fatty -- usually chicken is lean, yes? --and most of the beef was the same, very fatty, not much actual steak. Best of luck to a new business, but you owe me dinner. read more

Went to my mothers house for Christmas Eve. I hadn't seen her in a couple weeks. Ordered dinner of Teriyaki Chicken with fried rice and Kung Pao Shrimp. First issue was my order was stated to be ready by 3:59 using the online ordering, yet when I arrived, I had to wait until 4:25 to get my food. The holdup was the fried rice. At about 4:20 one of the employees arrived and made the fried rice. Do not know why the other chef couldn't have made it. Second issue, and this is the biggest one. Christmas morning I woke up vomiting. Was ill for 3 solid day. This morning as I write this is the first day I actually feel halfway decent. Spoke to my mother on Christmas Day over the phone, same illness. The two of shared the teriyaki chicken. My wife did not eat anything that evening. I know you can get sick for many reasons, but both myself and my mother, who rarely see each other? I have to blame the chicken. Now I will say the food was delicious. Too bad for the other issues. I may go back, but it will be a long while and I will be watching the reviews before i do. I understand this was the soft opening, so they are still working things out. But you can't be making people ill. I wish them good luck, as the area needs a reliable Chinese restaurant. read more
