    We had never heard of Truffles but we were given a gift certificate. I don't really like going to expensive restaurants but have to say that Truffles was worth it. Four of us went, all enjoyed their food. The pork chop was huge and delicious, my chicken breast was tender and flavorful - half these orders went home for lunch the next day. Beet salad and a steak were great and all of us enjoyed one order of the roasted pineapple split dessert. We brought our own wine for a cork fee and they were very nice about it. The sommelier (for one cocktail and a port) was friendly, service good. We were seated right by the kitchen on a Saturday night but not too noisy or distracting. Nice that this was not in downtown Clayton so plenty of free parking. There's also a little food market attached.

    This review needs to be updated as it has been a minute since we were here but Truffles made us feel wonderful and special for our anniversary ! We don't always have the biggest stomach capacity so the smaller portions were good for us. The chef started us with an off menu meatball appetizer, very cute very good. We then both had gumbo , shrimp and fries, all delicious. We ended with a sweet treat that I cannot remember the name of. Overall we would for sure go back. We love New Orleans and this place gives us a little bit of NO

    Time for a review update and a five star bump (FSB)! The reason? I've been here multiple times during dinner that I can say with certainty that the place delivers a fantastic dining experience, exceptional service and delicious food. Ambiance is classy, noise level is low (something my husband and I appreciate). Service has always been great from the moment we were seated to the time we sign for the bill. Most recently, we came in for our early anniversary dinner. We didn't announce it was so because neither of us likes attention. I had a glass of wine. I love that they pour it table side! My husband had a cocktail. A Manhattan, which he loved. We started with one of their special appetizer, an octopus. It was prepared and seasoned well and it came with some charred, roasted little potatoes. I've had their steak a couple of times in the past so I decided to switch it up and get the Chilean sea bass. Scrumptious! The crispy fried kale took it to another level. My husband ordered the ribs and it came on a cool looking plank. He ordered the full ribs so he had more than enough leftovers to take home. So did I! Of course, it can't be a Friday night dinner without dessert so we had the pavlova. It was so tasty, we finished everything but maybe 3 big giant bites. We were simply too full in the end. Again, everything was wonderful and I cannot wait to return in the near future!

    It's been a while since we visited, and I thought I would update my review. We spent the evening of our 20th wedding anniversary at Truffles. The service and food was amazing, as usual. We started with the bread service. Then I had a filet with twice baked potato and asparagus. My husband had the special ribeye with twice baked potato and asparagus. For dessert, they served us the crème brûlée for our anniversary. Everything was phenomenal and we will be back soon!

    Truffles is somewhat formal and I would call it fine dining. Very busy but they take reservations. The Hawaiian Red Ahi Tuna wraps were absolutely to die for. We ordered the tagliatelle ragu and the New York strip, both fantastic! On the dessert menu, we tried the flourless chocolate torte and the croissant bread pudding, which were great. We got engaged tonight and they made us a crème brûlée on the house and it was our favorite dessert! It's pricey but well worth it! Amazing place for a special occasion!

    Exquisite food delivered with impeccable professional service. I'm not originally from this area so I could be wrong but the air of the place is "old money" rich. Waiter told me they've been open for 25 years. A perfect meal and a place where you can impress a date or client.

    Woahhhhhh Baby, the Butchery is no joke. My partner and I have a pretty lengthy history with truffles as their Truffle Fries are some of the best fries in STL--by some of the best I mean indubitably top 3, potentially #1. Steaks? awesome. Shrimp? superb. Ribs? love 'em. But, this review will focus on the Butchery. I finally made it out and wow, let me eat here everyday. I grabbed the Italian beef and this thing is elite. The giardiniera is perfect. Italian beef was tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. The roll? oh gosh, the roll was perfect. This sandwich is a work of art. I know we are not in Chicago, but this Italian beef can hang with the best of them. The butchery is loaded with local eats, cuts of meat, and provisions. A ton of house made offerings inundate the shelves. From hummus to Chimichurri they have you covered. Cannot wait to get back. But, for now, my jar of chimichurri will be getting thrown on a steak.

    I honestly don't know where to begin. Service is a 100/10. Courtney and Vito are my favorites but everyone is fantastic! The food is what dreams are made of. There are the usual suspects like the steak menu, a few fish, ribs, chicken, and truffle fries that don't change. But the seasonal options are amazing. And the nightly specials are always unbelievable. We've had the short rib special over Japanese sweet potato which is out of this world, the scallops with crunchy kale and cauliflower puree, the ceviche, the truffle fries, and a variety of steaks. You cannot go wrong with any choice! I cannot come to truffles without those fries, they are what dreams are made of! With your steak you get a choice of sauce - they are all delicious but the chimichurri is my favorite. Every time the food is cooked to absolute perfection. And the presentation is over the top. For dessert - honestly they're all delicious. The truffles are a work of art. The cookies are so good! The pineapple ice cream dish is unbelievable. Everything is decadent and so delicious. But let's get to the good stuff - the 6000+ bottle wine list. Huge wineo? You'll find something unbelievable. Lost? The somm is there to help. We have had some incredible wines. Love that each wine is paired perfectly with the correct wine glass, too. And the cocktails are perfect. Can't go wrong with the espresso martini , dirty martini with freshly made blue cheese olives, or really any drink. Truffles doesn't get enough love. It should win every award and will always be my favorite date night, special occasion, etc spot!

    We went to truffles for my birthday dinner. It is an upscale restaurant perfect for a special dinner. We got the $10 bread service, half bottle of wine, the chicken and filet mignon and finished with a complementary Creme brûlée with a little candle for my birthday. The wine menu is extensive and if you know anything about wine this is the place to go. There servers taste the wine before they serve it to ensure quality. The nice thing about the menu is that there is a range of prices you can get a glass of wine for $11 or a bottle for $1200 and everything in between. The food menu has cheaper options if you are bougie on a budget or you can splurge. The food was excellent. I would not recommend the $10 bread service. Previous reviews mention free bread service, but this is no longer the case. For the amount of money people are spending vs what you get I don't think the bread was worth it. It was a very small loaf, and left a lot to be desired. The chicken was so juicy and nicely seasoned and probably the favorite of the night. The steaks come with "seasonal veg" you do not get to pick your sides like at some other restaurants. The twice baked potato was very well seasoned and flavorful, but the green beans were less interesting. They could have benefited from some garlic or lemon. While the steak was perfectly cooked, it was the smallest steak I have ever seen. Generally I'm used to picking a 6oz or 8 oz filet mignon. The menu does not specify the oz of the filet. The prices listed on the menu are for a 4oz and 8oz. Thankfully, despite the small size we left full and happy. We received a complementary Creme brûlée, absolutely amazing no notes, delicious.

    We hadn't been to Truffles for quite a number of years. I was looking for somewhere to go the night before my husband's birthday and thought we'd check it out. I should have left well enough alone and chosen somewhere else. We were sort of greeted. A man and a woman were at the hostess stand and they did look at us when we walked in. I gave our name and said we had a reservation. They conferred about which table to seat us at and the woman said to follow her. We were never really greeted and or spoken to other than "follow me". The dining room was pretty full and we passed a few four tops that were empty. We were seated on a long row of tables against a wall. We had the very end seats so I sat in the booth side of the table up against a wall on my left side. Not uncomfortable, but not great. At one point a diner came over to say hi to the woman next to me (who had her foot up on the seat), and she was practically in my lap. Any time a server came to wait on our neighboring table, their rear ends were in our faces. Nobody was ever seated at at least one of the open four tops, but yeah, sure, go ahead and mash us into a corner. Our server was okay. She was a little loud, her hands were flying all over the place as she talked and she was kind of a lot. We placed our orders and received our salads pretty quickly. My husband received the wrong salad so we waited a few minutes for that to be taken care of. He really enjoyed the beet salad. I had the house salad that was made up of a lot of lettuce. There was some onion. And there is supposed to be fruit. The fruit was craisins. And big, wide strips of Romano cheese which is very dry. My husband really enjoyed his pasta. I got the burger and it was okay. Definitely nothing special. Definitely not worth $27 for a burger and some fries. We eat out somewhat often. We don't mind paying higher prices for really good food. My salad, that was mostly a pile of lettuce, was $15. And a very average burger was $27? Their prices are a little crazy. When we were finished, our server informed us she would be bringing out a surprise and it was "on her" - I'm assuming she didn't actually pay for it. So she brings out vanilla bean crème brûlèe. It had a candle and a few raspberries on it. My husband hates crème brûlèe. He ate the raspberries. I ate some of the dessert. It wasn't very good. The top was torched a bit too much and had a burned taste to it. The cream part tasted like vanilla pudding from a box mix. My experience alone would have earned the restaurant a 2. I gave it a 3 because my husband did enjoy his meal quite a bit. We won't be going back. (I did take a photo of my burger, but it didn't turn out at all - it it was a burger and fries - nothing too exciting.) Editing to add one last note! I used the handicapped stall in the ladies restroom. I'm almost 5'6" and had to extend my arm and reach above my head to hang my purse up on the hook. There is no way a person in a wheelchair could begin to reach it. Nor could anyone who is vertically challenged.

    We had not been to Truffles so we stopped for a drink. We wanted a table in the bar area but each one had a reserved sign on them. So we sat at the bar where we met a great bartender, Duke. My girlfriend asked for the drink menu but they don't have one. Duke said he can make us anything so I asked for a pomegranate cosmo. My girlfriend wanted to see how mine tasted before ordering one for herself. The cosmo was very smooth so my girlfriend ordered one also. We told Duke we wanted to order food but we wanted a table. Duke saw people leaving and he went to the hostess and requested the table for us. Excellent service from Duke! We split the Miso Duck Breast and a side of asparagus. The duck was cooked perfectly and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The asparagus was grilled and it had a slight char taste and smell which was wonderful. Excellent service and great food. The bar area was casual where the dining room was more formal.

    Upscale dining experience with a terrific, inspire American menu. The quality, presentation, service and "cook" is top-notch, while the atmosphere is casual enough to inspire good table conversation and comfort. We really enjoyed ourselves. Came here on a whim because we were in the area. Luckily, there was an opened table. What we ordered: - Old Fashioned (4/5): well executed, generous and tasty! Bulleit rye was our choice. - Petit filet, Oscar style (4.5/5): Perfect medium rare. Oscar style was excellent. Served with N addicting twice-baked potato and asparagus. Would be a perfect 5 if the petite was 6 ounces vs 4. I have had a lot of petit filets, and I think 6 is standard. Pricey for 4 ounces in my opinion. - salmon pad Thai - A friend ordered it and really liked it! He said it was the best salmon he has had at a restaurant. - special desserts/Croissant bread pudding with chocolate espresso sauce (4.5/5): almost impossible to limit yourself to a couple bites. This was fantastic!

A chalkboard of specials and weathered seating gesture at the aesthetic; the rest of the room knows. Kendall Roy of restaurants -- comes from privilege, wants badly to be of the people. It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.

I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.

Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.

There were a few open tables, but we were asked to wait by the door while they "got situated." Meanwhile, a walk-in who arrived after us was seated at a table we had been waiting for. When we were finally seated, we were placed in direct sun. I asked if we could move to a shaded table in the corner and was told it was only for parties of three. After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional. I understand how busy restaurants can get, especially on nice days, but a little more consideration and courtesy would have gone a long way.
