The waitresses were fast, came right over with menus and took our order quickly, and the food came out fast too. We were a party of two and shared two combos, but I noticed other tables ordering one combo per person which works too depending on how hungry you are. The snow crab was so juicy and the mussels were super fresh. We got the mixed seasoning with no spice, and the potatoes were sooo good to balance out. The corn was amazing, and the shrimp was enormous and so juicy, I'm not sure how they got it that good. The sauce leans pretty salty, and I ended up drinking like three cups of water, but eating it with the potatos balances it out. Price point felt fair and I left stuffed!! I have been going to this establishment for years, but the last two trips I have food remade both times my food was mushy almost like in liquid form the shrimp crawfish and mussels spent over $200 and they would not refund me after two remake!!!!! when I brought it to the supervisor, our managers attention, he was very rude, kept talking over me and kept telling me to prove so I provided him with the receipts and a bank statement. This is probably one of my favorite places to get a seafood boil based on the sauce. I ordered the 1/2 snow crab 1/2 shrimp combo. It includes 1 snow crab claw, 1/2 lb deveined and headless shrimp, 3 sausages, 1 corn on the cob, and 1 potato. I got it mild and Kickin' style, which is a combination of their sauces. I have been a loyal customer and order the same shrimp boil from this restaurant nearly every week. The spice level has always been consistent, which is why I was surprised when my recent order was significantly hotter than usual; so spicy that it was difficult to eat. I called the restaurant, explained the issue, and was told I could bring it back the next day. When I returned, my replacement order was made at the normal spice level I have always received, which confirmed to me that the previous order was noticeably different. Unfortunately, my niece's order, which was picked up at the same time, was extremely spicy as well. It was also missing the sausage that was included in the order. After eating only a few shrimp, she had to drink milk because of how overwhelming the spice level was. I immediately called the restaurant to explain the situation. Rather than addressing my concerns, I was repeatedly told, "You ordered spicy, what did you expect?" I explained that I order the same item regularly and that this week's spice level was clearly different from what I have received in the past. Instead of working toward a resolution, I was told they reviewed their camera footage and saw me check my bag. I explained that I checked my replacement order, not my niece's order, but they still refused to help. What disappointed me most was not the mistake itself, but the customer service. Mistakes happen, but dismissing a long-time customer's concerns and responding with a "welp" when told you lost a customer is unprofessional and disappointing. I love coming here when I'm craving a seafood boil. I think for St. Louis, this is the best that we're going to get. I love that they line the tables with paper, they also give you bibs and gloves to eat with. The service was fairly quick, but it was hard for them to hear us at times, so we got some of our requests wrong (the room was loud on a Friday night). The prices are alright, but it definitely beats cooking it and cleaning at home. I love getting the snow crab legs, crawfish, and mussels. The seafood restaurant was open on Thanksgiving, bless their hearts. My family of 4 and another table were the only ones in the restaurant. Very clean and a lot of tables with plenty of space. The people that work here are so friendly and love children. We felt like we were home. The food: My husband and I ordered Cajun Mild with extra crab legs. This was by far the best seafood bag I've ever eaten. We live in Hawaii where we are surrounded by ocean, and the crab legs at Kickin Crab were way bigger and meaty. The seasoning was delicious. Couldn't get enough of it. We had potatoes, corn, sausage and shrimp (with head) along with our crab legs. Truly and great place to visit if you are in town. Our daughters had chicken with fries. We walked in with a couple of friends for a late dinner. It wasn't really busy so we got seated right away. We got a dozen of raw oysters, coconut sea snails, sweet potato fries and combo #3 Kickin style( snow crab legs, clams, shrimp head on and crawfish). I wasn't a fan of their oysters. Shrimp was pretty dry from overcooked. My friend got herself a bag of shrimp head off and it was much juicier and more firm than the shrimp in our combo. Service was good. read more

I was introduced to this place after being asked how I felt about a crawfish boil (a southern coworker was missing home) and I politely mentioned crawfish aren't my thing. Then, I was introduced to the amazingly flavorful menu of Kickin' Crab and the delicious half and half shrimp and crab boil bag with Kickin' Style (and sausage replaced with an extra potato). Been here 3 times, it's so good I have no pictures because I'm soooooo focused on the double bagged edible gold. You order clams, crawfish, shrimps, crabs, lobsters, etc. You order your seafood boil by the pound and it's served in a bag. You order whatever you seasoning you want and the level of heat. You can also choose to make it into a combo and choose from corn, potatoes or sausages with your bagged seafood. I ordered gumbo and a half of pounds of shrimps in a mildly hot Cajun seasoning. They said 8 shrimp is about a 1/2 lb and we probably got 30-40 shrimp and 3 ish crab claws in our combo. There is also sausage, corn, and potatoes. The medium kickin crab flavoring was perfect. I have tried many cajun seafood places and I have to say that Kickin Crab is the best! Their sauce is just amazing.

So, I realize I am in Illinois. Far away from the sea. However, I paid $50 for 2 lbs of shrimp which came with corn and potatoes. Couldn't care less about the potato. My beef is that I ordered 2lbs of shrimp. I ate and counted. I received 34 large shrimp. If going by the American standard you should receive 31/35 shrimps in a pound. So that tells me I was shorted a lb of shrimp that cost $20.99 a pound. $50 in and I wasn't satisfied appetite wise. Mind you shrimp isn't filling. This was a to go order. The seasoning was very good, exceptional actually. It didn't make up for the short change. read more

Unless you wanted to go fully upscale and spend $$$$ at one of the finer dining establishments in the Lou to get really good crab and lobster and other shellfish, we were stuck choosing between places like Joe's Crab Shack and Red Lobster. To this middle class working girl's delight, many seafood boil type of places have opened here in recent years, with The Kickin' Crab as one of the newest and tastiest additions. STL is the first foray into the Midwest by this CA chain with locations in TX. The choices are varied with seafood boils and plated menu items. I was going to order crab legs and add on items but was pointed to their combo special that saved me $ and also was offered the option of swapping the potatoes for an egg. It sounds weird, but I love eggs and it goes great with the boil. I ordered garlic butter flavoring and my server suggested I try one of the sauces to dip. I'm so glad he did! I dumped that stuff all over everything! There are varying levels of heat from no heat to super spicy and I tried the mild and the next spice level up. A tip from the server was that the lighter the sauce, the hotter it gets. I was also happy to find that the snow crab was sweet and there wasn't a funky leg in the bunch! LOL! I could have eaten two of the corn pieces, it was so good and sweet and the sausages were super good too, with a nice snap. I'm going back with 20 foodie friends next week and I'm looking forward to trying the shrimp and mussels on that visit. I love the variety of seafood, the fun atmosphere with louder than normal music (creating a party atmosphere), and cute nautical decor. Also, I super appreciated the clean restroom and the thoughtful hand washing station in the hallway on the way to the restrooms. This is my go to seafood boil spot! Best in St. Louis so far. During the pandemic, they only had takeout. However their system was flawless and super easy to navigate. When I arrived they'd always have my food ready. They are back open for in person dining with some social distancing. I haven't eaten inside because their to go process is so easy. I call ahead every time and it only takes about 15 minutes for my food to be ready. That's super fast and taste is never compromised. I order the snow crab special which comes with 2 clusters of snow crab, 1 corn, 2 potatoes, and 3 sausages. I always get cajun spicy spicy. I also add a half pound of shrimp head off. Absolutely fantastic service and very nice people. The food is very very good. The prices are great. It's kind of fun they bring you are a plastic bag with all of your food in it covered with the seasoning then they hand you plastic gloves. You're supposed to eat out of the bag which makes it kinda difficult but fun! Fortunately, they also give you a bib. The only bad thing is they have little tiny napkins on the table. They don't work adequately to wipe your face and hands off. They also need a bucket on the table for all of your shells, etc. I'm assuming this is a franchise the food taste shines over the mistakes that the franchise has made. With a little tweaking, this place could be exceptional. I recommend it don't wear a good clothes and get ready to be messy ! read more
