Sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and chicken and veggies
    Nicholas S.

We have been coming here regularly for a couple years. The staff and workers there are always really friendly and funny. I love interacting with them they can make ur day! We always do sweet and sour chicken that's our go to. It's delicious and just taste amazing!! Today we added there sesame chicken to try. While it's good it's not my favorite and I personally will probably try something different. Just wasn't the right flavor. Also had chicken with vegetables and this was a home run wow. If u like broccoli and beef you will love this! It was refreshing and yet light and was perfect on top their fried rice that comes with meals. And my personal tip, if u like spicy mustard. Ask them for the fresh spicy mustard from the fridge. Blows the packet mustard away.

This was my 1st time visiting Panda's Den. I got my hair done nearby and wanted Chinese Takeout. The building doesn't have much curb appeal but I'm so happy I gave them a try! I ordered House Lo Mein with an egg roll and was not disappointed! The food was hot, fresh and delicious! At first glance it didn't seem like much meat was in there but the more I stirred the noddles the more meat surfaced! I highly recommend this place! Oh and I received a complimentary sweet tea which was excellent!!The staff that assisted me was very nice and even took the time to explain their specials to me. And the portion size was large enough for lunch and dinner! I will definitely go back!

Nice little place tucked in Charlotte. We were visiting and found it based on yelp review. Great homey taste , large portions. Friendly service. We apparently ordered too much but all tasted very good Three glass chicken - huge portion and tasted great. The ginger and garlic flavor was wonderfully mixed together K8 - braised pork with noodles - huge portion. One minor thing was that the noodle was a bit over cooked, but the meat was very yummy G2 - five spiced beef - fully flavored and yet again large portion. We also ordered G4 and H4, my dad loved the H4 very much, a bit spicy but yummy if we ever come this way- will definitely come again.

SO GOOD. Truly a hole in the wall gem. It seems they are more popular with take out in the evenings. (They seemed busy!). But dine in is also nice and they have good service. They also have a "secret" Chinese menu. Helps if you can read Chinese but you can point at the photos and the Chinese menu is what we ordered off of. The wait staff was attentive, kind, and the food is delicious! Truly authentic.

    overcooked crab rangoons
    Darryl L.

After passing this place about a million times, the wife and I decided it was time to check it out. When we arrived, we were seated fairly quickly and had our drink orders taken. We decided on an appetizer of the crab rangoons, General Tso's chicken and Lo mein noodles for my wife. When we received the rangoons we noticed that they were overcooked. They were very hard and had a burnt taste to them. My wife's meal the Lo Mein, was watery and flavorless. She did not enjoy them at all and had the waiter take it back. The number one rule of cooking was violated: If YOU wont eat it, don't serve it. However, the saving grace was the egg fried rice and General Tso's chicken. It was very flavorful and ranks among some of the best I've had. My wife changed her order to sesame chicken. She enjoyed this MUCH more than the Lo Mein. The pieces were tender and juicy. All in all it was a good visit. Although there were issues with some of the meals, the staff took appropriate action to make the situation right. I'll be visiting again.

I am a foodie at heart. My friend had the Ma-La Dried Peppers Chicken, that was also incredible. Everything has sooooo much flavor. The eggplant was hands down the best I've ever had in my life. Go on their website, the food looks just like the pictures in real life. It's also super clean inside. Just go, you won't be disappointed !

I was in one of those "I need noodles immediately" moods, and Sun's Kitchen did not disappoint. I called my order in for takeout, and everything was packed perfectly. No leaks, no mess, still hot when I got home, and the portion was surprisingly generous for the price. The dan dan noodles here are rich, savory, a little spicy, and incredibly comforting. If you're not familiar with them, dan dan noodles are a classic Sichuan street food dish from Chengdu traditionally tossed in a spicy, numbing ma-la sauce with pork, scallions, and pickled vegetables. Sun's Kitchen does a really delicious version that's flavorful without feeling too heavy. The noodles have that perfect chewy texture, and every bite has just enough heat to keep you going back for more. If you're someone who's curious about ethnic food but maybe unsure where to start, this is honestly a great entry-level dish. Yes, there's a little spice, but it's approachable and balanced. The dining room itself is modern and beautiful, and now that they serve beer and wine, I definitely need to come back and enjoy a full dine-in experience instead of rushing home with takeout. The only caveat is the parking lot can get a little chaotic since it's shared with neighboring businesses, especially during busy hours. But trust me, it's worth circling for a spot. Charlotte, there's a big wide world of food out there, and places like Sun's Kitchen make exploring it easy and delicious. Get out there and eat your way through it.

It was pushing 97 degrees outside, and after a long afternoon of computer work and errands, I finally stopped in for the crispy scallion chicken and pan-fried dumplings. Huge portions. Fair prices. Friendly people. Consistently solid food every single time. The best part today honestly might have been the air conditioning. They've got a cool, comfortable space to wait while your order is prepared, which felt amazing after baking outside all day. I forgot to take food photos because I was hungry and ready to get home, but trust me, they pack these takeout containers like a game of Jenga. Nothing spills. Nothing shifts. Everything is packed tight and thoughtfully. Only tiny downside: the dumpling sauce goes into the same container as the hot dumplings, so by the time I got home, it had softened the bottom a bit. Still, the dumpling wrappers are thick and crispy enough to survive the trip. Into the air fryer later they go. One warning: the parking lot can be chaotic since it sits right off busy Providence Road. Just be patient. Cars are constantly pulling in, backing out, blocking entrances, and today people were absolutely treating red lights like suggestions. Saw it multiple times, including a bus cutting across traffic when I had the right-of-way. Charlotte drivers... please relax a little. That said, the food made the trip worth it. Taipei Express is one of those dependable local spots that always comes through when you need a solid meal without spending a fortune. Life is too short to not eat well. Get out there and eat your way through Charlotte.

Unfortunately, the execution didn't quite live up to expectations. Many of the hot items coming around on the carts--especially the dumplings and rice noodle dishes--were noticeably cold by the time they reached the table. Service also seemed strained; the restaurant appeared short-staffed, which made it difficult to get attention or request specific items. The portions felt small for the price point, and overall it didn't feel like a great value for the money. Despite that, the restaurant is absolutely packed every weekend, so clearly it has a loyal following. Having experienced incredible dim sum in places like Sugar Land, Texas, and especially throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, it's hard not to compare. Those spots set a very high bar, and unfortunately Open Rice Metropolitan doesn't quite measure up.

It is busy enough that plenty of other people had also called in for takeout. The price was higher than I thought it would be by a significant margin; I thought something was off but then rechecking their menu I saw it was indeed $20 for a vegetable entree. On the upside, they did offer brown rice at no extra charge. Still, I'll get three meals out of it and as someone who eats a lot of takeout, this was not a great value. In terms of quality, I was thrilled to find that they offered a stir-fried okra dish. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation. They had a bean curd roll dish that I enjoyed, and some quality dumplings. Overall, not huge portions and a mix of okay to great quality.
