I just ordered take out from here for the first time. Cashew chicken, won ton soup, beef lo mein and pork egg too. None of the food was marked as spicy, but the cashew chicken was like a level 5 spicy! It also had peanuts, not cashews and no vegetables of any kind. We could not eat it because it was so spicy. The won tons have maybe about 1/4 teaspoon of chicken, the rest is just a chewy mass. The lo mein was meh. Overall certainly not worth the price to me. read more

Everything here lately taste like it's been cooked in old grease , with no seasonings. I tried calling and talking to the guy who is always there since we are "regulars" but he says the cooks haven't changed in 10years or the owners . Also says there have no other complaints. I find this very hard to believe , obviously they don't check their reviews . You can tell when they just take premade lomein noodles , dip them in hot water and pour soy sauce on them . You can taste the food from other foods being dried in the grease over and over when you bite into a stale egg roll . You can squeeze the old grease out of under seasoned egg foo young left in the wok too long . You can chew the shrimp in the tasteless shrimp lomein like it's chewing gum. First time having them and let me tell you ... AMAZING!!!! There's a bunch of other Chinese restaurants within 10 minutes of this one and I've tried a lot of them. The food was superb. I loved that there was actual egg in the fried rice which is the correct way. The vegetable lo mein had so many veggies and there was no extra seasoning but with just the sauce was more than enough flavor. Good portion of chicken for the sweet and sour. The crab Rangoon was actually filled nicely and no gaps or stinginess was there lol and I could actually see the crab meat. Definitely coming back!!! read more

I love this place. It has become our favorite spot for Chinese, and it's right near our house. Their chicken fried rice is really solid, as are their teriyaki chicken skewers. Their egg rolls are average, and their spring rolls are good, but could use some fresher ingredients to really give it a good crunch. It's nice to be able to grab some Boba from the shop next door, or wander around Super G Mart while you wait for your order to be prepared. read more

Worst Chinese food I've ever had. My Mongolian beef tasted like nothing but fish, the egg drop soup just tasted like a bowl of oil and the fried rice just tasted like plain white rice. First time ordering food from here. The food did come hot and the delivery guy was very nice. But unfortunately the food was subpar at best. The beef with broccoli had hardly any flavor to it, the pork fried rice was "ok", I ordered fried dumplings that were soggy and the egg roll I think was twice cooked and the beef teriyaki was the biggest disappointment. This place is less than a half mile over from me yet I have never made it into the actual restaurant. I have been in my apartment for a little over a year now and tried out a couple of Chinese delivery places within delivery range near me. I wasn't impressed with any so I kept changing around. Finally, I found Fortune Cookie and haven't ordered from another since. My go-to is the Honey Chicken. It is so good and always super crispy. They have awesome fried chicken wings too. I like their steamed dumplings and get those on a regular basis. I also enjoyed the steak on a stick type appetizer, several of the soups (egg drop wonton and hot&sour). I have had one or two things I didn't really care for but that's expected. You aren't going to like everything on the menu at any restaurant! The food itself is always warm. They always include plasticware and enough sauces. They have online ordering which is convenient. The service itself is always friendly and they always deliver within the time they say they will. It has been 9 months of consistent good service. As far as the negative review because of the MSG, I don't know anything about whether or not it's in their food. I don't even know much about what MSG is. However, I do know that Chinese restaurants are notorious for using MSG. Not bad. We ordered from this place because it was one of the last places delivering through DoorDash and we were in the mood for Chinese food. We ordered a sesame chicken and a general tso's chicken. I know I know they're the same thing but my fiance doesn't like Her's spicy. Her loss. The chicken is low quality, first and foremost. I'm always impressed by Chinese places that don't use cheap chicken cuts just because it's fried and sauced and otherwise covered up. This unfortunately is not one of those places. The sauce is great, but the chicken is pretty tough and chewy. The fried rice and egg rolls were excellent, however. Outside of the delivery charges, our order was $17. Pretty inexpensive and overall a solid meal. I would try a different delivery place next time but this is a safe enough bet. read more

I love this place!! It's super close to me and I enjoy coming here. I've been to sooo many Chinese restaurants in Charlotte, and this is for sure my favorite. The food is always good and fresh and super cheap. Not to mention, the staff is so nice. Their lunch and dinner combinations are amazing-you get so much food for such a cheap price. The only thing is, they don't put sauce or plastic ware in the bag. But there is specifically a sign that reads "to keep our costs low, we ask you only get what you need" A lot of other places put like 5 soy sauce, 5 duck sauce, etc. in the bags. But in reality you only need like 1/2 soy sauce and 1 duck sauce. So take what you need!!!! I will continue coming here & will always recommend this place. So this was an Uber Eats delivery, and I have to take in consideration that the food is going to be different than picking it up myself or eating in the venue itself. We started with Two Pork Eggrolls, which were just okay, very small for 1.75 a piece and not much of any pork. Then we had some very limp Pan fried Potstickers, also limp maybe from the delivery time, but not very good either. The Scallion Chicken was pretty flavorful and had quite a bit of fried chicken in it. Beef with Garlic sauce was full of a lot of veggies that were crisp but hardly any beef. We ordered the House Special Fried Rice which was very off tasting. Something was wrong with it. We had to throw the whole container out, Very bad Fried Rice. Online ordering and delivery is always awesome, especially for those days you just don't feel like going out. Their delivery is prompt and the food arrives piping hot and relatively tasty. The prices are event reasonable. The problem? I think the food is totally laden with MSG. That'll be the last time I eat food from here. I had just a few bites of food and a few hours later I realize that I've drank about 40oz of water and my tongue still feels dry, and I've got the headache from hell. We were really hoping that this would be a good place to order delivery from. Unfortunately, we were wrong. The soups were incredibly diluted and watery. The potstickers were tiny but didn't taste awful. The Mongolian beef was the worst I have ever had. It was rubbery, full of watered down sauce and tasted old and cheap. The general tso's chicken was okay, but lacked sauce so it all stuck together and was overly chewy. Pretty darn good, all things considered! A little disclaimer: I have been SPOILED with American Chinese food growing up, so I'm rating this based on its competitors in specifically the Charlotte area (which I'm new to). I have yet to find anything that compares to the American Chinese in NY and other New England states. However, Fortune Cookie(at least this one), comes quite close. Lo mein is very flavorful, portions are large and the chicken (if it's a fried chicken kind of meal), is always crispy, but not over cooked or greasy. The rice is perfectly cooked, too. Not too mushy like a lot of other places. Crab Rangoon was good and so was the beef teriyaki. One of my favorites is the sweet and sour chicken. The sauce isn't runny and watery like some other restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this to anyone in the area who wants a more traditional American Chinese. I say "American" because if anyone has had classic Chinese they know this isn't like that. Not a criticism at all, though. It's just how it is in the U.S! Also, I read a terrible review on this restaurant posted 10 minutes before I decided to disregard it and go anyway. Despite the negative review, I found the staff very respectable and friendly, but at the same time, who goes to a take out Chinese establishment for the service. Probably why I disregarded the review. I will absolutely be returning! My ONLY criticism is the soup broths. They don't pack enough flavor to overpower the gross tap water we have down here. read more

What I got was chicken and lots and lots and lots of carrots and water chestnuts and nothing else (not much chicken either).
