Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. Grade: A- Beef Dac Biet Pho had some real high quality meat in it. I had options in noodle and my go-to for any pho spot is the egg noodles. I wish it had more bo vien in it, but I appreciated the combo of meats. The broth seemed authentic, but I wanted a tad more flavor out of it without adding sauces. Overall, the pho grade was a B+ bordering an A-. The star of the show was the grilled pork banh mi. The meat was tender and saucy. In fairness I asked for extra pickles and mayo, but I was very impressed. The bread had the crispy crunch we all look for but minus the stale bread. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. This will be the one I continue to frequent. Well done Pho de Nguyen!

We showed up at 4:55 Sunday evening at a venue in an ordinary strip mall with covered windows. We were the second party there, in a restaurant that seats 16 diners. The restaurant filled up halfway through our meal. We ordered the tasting menu for 2 and one wine pairing. Presentation of all dishes was superb and all were cooked to perfection. We started with a creamy potato leek soup in a glass demitasse cup, followed by a stone fruit salad with crispy prosciutto and ingredients from the chef's own yard. How cool is that? The miso sea bass stood out for both of us and we wished it was the main instead of just a taste of perfection. We would go back for that dish alone. The main was marinated tri-tip - and plenty of it. Like 5 slices! My wife's, pictured nearby, was superb, with slices of beef that melted in our mouths. My plate was not nearly as good, with every slice stringy. I let this slide because a cow is a cow and sometimes this happens. It's also hard to tell prime beef marbled fat from connective tissue when cutting with a sharp chef's knife. Dessert was sorbet and fresh fruit making my tongue very happy. The paired wines echoed each dish, including dessert, and were well worth the price. As other reviewers have pointed out, the $80 charge is well under market value. Diners in downtown San Francisco could easily pay $240 and up for the same menu and cooking quality. We'll be watching the website for the next menu change. Anyone else wish they could email customers when it's updated?

Restaurant had around 5 other groups dining but didn't feel too busy, space is small and intimate so definitely recommend a reservation. Drinks: Wine pairing - came with 4 pours two whites, a red and a sparkling resling, the wines leaned towards European varietals, we were able to split the tasting which was perfect to get a small taste with the 4 courses Food: Caramelized Onion Bisque - a nice amuse bouche, savory with a rich caramelized onion flavor, slightly creamy velvety texture and mouth feel, served with a small toasted slice of bread with broiled cheese Roasted Nectarine Salad with Goat Cheese - solid, a very petit portion size, nectarines was juicy with a slight sweetness and subtle tartness, lemon vinegarette was a nice compliment, goat cheese was mild with a nice soft whipped texture, caramelized pecans added sweet crunchy texture and pops of flavor Black cod with Burre Blanc - tender cod that flaked away with a soft texture, paired nicely with the buttery creamy beurre blanc sauce, snap pea puree added a bit of sweetness, a tad small but very tasty House made sourdough - great, served warm, interior was moist with a nice springy bouncy, great crunchy crust, served with softened butter, wish this came out more towards the beginning but I think the intention was to use it to soak up some sauce so understandable Strawberry Sorbet - great smooth and silky texture on the sorbet ripe strawberry without being too sweet, paired with some Earl gray sponge cake which had a great airy texture, cherry sauce, and crunchy meringue pieces, a nice portion size as well here Grilled Tri-Tip, cooked to a perfect medium rare , super tender, chimmichri added herbaceous slightly spicy garlic kick, sweet romanesco sauce was an interesting contrast, roasted potatoes were great for soaking up the sauces, also served with some grilled bell peppers and a few sauteed shrimp, filling and hearty generous portion size on the main dish Service was excellent, very attentive and well paced. Water was refilled throughout the meal and silverware changed out between each course. Great knowledge of the wines paired with the dishes. Overall really enjoyed Hapa bistro, a small seasonal menu that's well executed, a great affordable tasting menu in the peninsula, French heavy influence, would definitely revisit to try the next seasons offering.

Our server was a ajumma with a Korean accent, and I instantly felt like this place is authentically Korean, even to Koreans. Service is very quick even when busy, and the banchan comes out after you place your order. I came at 6PM on a Sunday and the restaurant had a few tables open. They can fill up quick, and appears to accommodate large parties by moving tables together. This is one of the few places I've been where they serve a fried mackerel with banchan iykyk. I ordered a Kimchi Jjim and seafood pancake. First off, their portions are large and their tables are small, so i found myself organizing our small table for two considering the banchan, water, bowls, rice, and main courses. The Kimchi Jjim was amazing - a good kick of flavorful and is not too spicy. They cut the kimchi after bringing the soup, just like how they do it in Korea. There was a lot of pork and substance in the soup, and it felt of really good value given how much you need to prepare to make a bowl of it. The seafood pancake was also a hit, but I recommend ordering and sharing amongst 4 people. It's a little oily, but the seafood taste and substance are not skimped on. It tasted freshly fried given how crispy it was, and was overall an enjoyable dish. With prices and portions in balance, it's no wonder this is one of the few places with a line out the door around 6:30PM on a Sunday. Given how many Koreans came here, I wouldn't doubt that this place falls any short of authentic Korean food. If you're a fan of Korean food and some lesser known Korean dishes, then you're in for a treat. Make sure to come early to avoid the wait, since the restaurant is a little small and spots can fill up quick.

My most recent visit for lunch on a Saturday was very busy! The line was out the door but they move fast and the food comes out even quicker. There are plenty of outdoor and indoor tables where you sit wherever you. There is self service water with and without lemon throughout the location. Pros: Quick and friendly service Tasty lobster rolls, lobster chowder, and crab sandwiches Con: Parking is VERY limited. They have a small lot in the back and you can park against their fence but over the weekend it's almost impossible. There is street parking but also a little hard if you want to park directly nearby. I parked about 1.5 blocks away on the next street parallel to the restaurant. The naked lobster roll is one of my favorites because you can really taste the meatiness of the lobster. You can tell it is fresh in every way with the buttery brioche bread. The tray comes loaded with chips and a side of Cole slaw. If you come with friends, I recommend getting a bowl of the lobster soup to share. Dipping the chips into the soup is chef's kiss! If you are a smaller party, you can always get the 1/2 lobster roll and cup of soup. But the better deal is to get the soup to share on the side since the lobster roll is $39 vs the 1/2 lobster roll and cup of soup is $37. If choosing between the which lobster roll to get, I opt for the naked roll because of the freshness and it is not as heavy. The dressed lobster roll has a good amount of flavor and pairs well with the bread, it's a little heavier because of the mayo and butter brioche bread. They don't use a ton of mayo in it so it's not as bad as you may think. I've had the twin tails in the past and I can definitely say it was very easy to get the lobster out. Sometimes some places make it more difficult and people don't want to really dig in with their hands. Safe to say it was very easy to eat. Over the years, I've seen the price go up with inflation unfortunately. So I definitely still come but as a little treat to myself or if I were to come celebrate a special occasion.

The ramen always hits the spot, and the meats are not dried out (both the beef rib and the pork belly have been good imo when I ordered it). The tofu is delicate and soft and the soup is savory and delicious. It comes with rice (I love their purple rice, it's so chewy and cooked well) which makes it a filling meal. The sul long tang was good to try, I had the chadol yangji sul long tang. The beef was okay, and it came with white noodles. There is salt and pepper on the table to season the soup with. It's perfect for when it is cold outside. I did enjoy trying the purple rice with a bite of kimchi and dipping it into the soup, the contrast of creamy savory vs sour spicy blended well in a bite. It was exciting to try something new that I hadn't had before. The jjin mandu was good. The pork filling is tender inside and the dipping sauce paired well overall. The gal bi jjim was massive and tender. Bones coming off just like that. The sweet soy sauce was very delicious and deep into the beef short ribs. Must have been cooking for a long time. Every bite was so good lol. So tender!! The rice cakes were a bit too chewy imo, but overall it was a good dish as there were also glass noodles, radish, and kabocha in there as well to feast on. Their banchan is hella good lol, it's only kimchi, radish kimchi, and fishcake but all three are executed well imo. I looove it. So good. Their tea is good as well, I like that it's in a container you can keep pouring yourself. Same goes for the water.

I didn't order their signature cheese beef hot plate, which costs close to $100, but seeing it served at another table, it looked incredibly impressive. If you're a meat lover, I think you'd really enjoy it. This restaurant is suitable whether you're dining alone or coming with a large family. Parking can be difficult on busy weekends, but it's generally manageable on weekdays. Overall, I highly recommend giving this place a try!
