    BBQ Beef Bowl

Huge portions of Hawaiian food! Everything here was solid and good, but not great. The macaroni salad was super yummy, and you get a lot of bang for your buck with how much food you get. Short rib (3.5/5) - gets the job done, nothing special. BBQ beef (4/5) - soft, good flavor Chicken Katsu (3.5/5) - huge portion, lots of chicken, but a little dry. Loco moco (3/5) Garlic shrimp (2/5) - with a half order, you only get 6 pieces of shrimp. The shrimp are on the smaller side, and were a little dry. Not too much flavor and a little bland. Food came out quickly! It's more of a casual restaurant so a lot of people were taking food to go.

When you have gone to almost all Hawaiian BBQ restaurants in San Francisco and on repeat it is good to look elsewhere . Although I didn't want to cross that bridge I did go to someplace in San Bruno ( not the Avenue in San Francisco) across the county line for Hawaiian BBQ restaurant called Hana .This Hawaiian BBQ spot has good portions of surf and turf. The Seafood & BBQ Combo had BBQ chicken with fried fish and shrimp were tasty and the mac salad was delicious and savory. I will come back and try the other BBQ options on the menu. This is the place to choose from lots of BBQ so order what you wanna at the Hawaiian BBQ place called Hana They offer good portions of food piled up like a mauna served with the spirit of Hawaiian Ohana

Solely based on a take-out order on my first visit. Hana popped up on my radar because it was just a few minutes away from the hotel I stayed at. It's located on San Mateo Ave., a quaint little downtown area in the city of San Bruno. I went there around 4pm so it was empty. I was greeted right away by a nice lady. The menu was fairly big with many plate lunch options and combos. I skipped lunch so I was quite hungry and got one of their most popular items: #1 Combo (according to her) It comes with short rib, beef and chicken on rice and mac salad. I also got a Portuguese sausage musubi. Not sure why I did that because the combo was huge. The chicken could've used more flavor but everything else was very good. I was only able to eat 1/2 and saved the rest for breakfast the next day. The interior felt very spacious. There were many tables and a high ceiling. At the counter, there were boxes of Hawaiian cookies that I tried during my very first time in Hawaii, and very first time in an ABC Store. For a brief moment during my work trip, I was transported back to Hawaii. Note: what looks like free street parking is actually paid parking. Watch out for signs and make sure you pay at the stations.

I was really excited to try the loco moco here since it's not one of the big Hawaiian BBQ chains and had a lot of good reviews. Parking was super convenient with street spots and a lot right behind the laundromat. There's indoor seating, but it feels more like a fast food joint--one of those spots where you go in, get your grub on, and head out quick. The staff at the counter was great and handled a steady flow of dine-in and online orders with ease. The loco moco was listed at $13.25, which seemed fair at first, but I didn't know about the $2 egg surcharge (1 dollar for each egg). After tax, it came out to just under $17, which felt a bit steep for loco moco in the Bay Area. Still, I was hopeful and ready to dig in. They give you a generous portion of rice, and the egg was cooked perfectly over easy, just how I like it. The macaroni salad was also really solid. It was a thin, uniform, mass-produced patty that lacked the flavor and texture of a freshly made one. It didn't have that seared crust or juicy interior you'd hope for in a good loco moco. The egg was actually larger than the patty, which made the whole dish feel a bit off balance. Overall, the loco moco here didn't live up to the hype for me. Maybe the katsu or other fried items are better, and I'd be open to giving those a try. But for loco moco specifically, I'd say it's a pass.

Big portions and affordable prices! Can't get any better than that! To be honest, it's better than L& L and Ono Hawaiian BBQ chain. Support those local small businesses. I normally go to Hawaiian Drive In in the South Bay but this is a good alternative for the north Bay Area! Definitely a winner winner chicken (katsu) for dinner. I recently found out they open for about 8 years! Wow. It's in a very unassuming area but the food is definitely worth the bang for your buck! bbq mixed plate $15.95 -- bbq nicely and good amounts of meat. chicken katsu $12.95 -- you'd have enough to share or eat it for leftovers the next day! seafood combo $14.85 -- fish was fried perfectly and not too oily. I like the variety of seafood in this order. Service was super friendly they really take proud in the food they serve. Made with love. Def worth trying for sure!

Lau lau and kalua pork! I should've unwrapped the leaves first! Lol

One of the best Hawaiian spots I've been to in the Bay! I was excited to see lau lau and kalua pork on the menu, since you don't always see that in mainland Hawaiian spots. The lau lau was very moist, tender, and flavorful, and the kalua pork was tasty as well! The mac was also yummy, and the portion of the plate was pretty huge! Service was fast and friendly! I'd definitely come back when I'm in the peninsula again!

We came by for a snack. We were actually in the area because we wanted chicken wings but the restaurant was closed for spring break vacation. Luckily for us, Hana Hawaiian was open. It's a clean and spacious spot to enjoy some Hawaiian food! So we thought to get chicken here even though it wasn't chicken wings. The lady behind the counter was patient with me as I stood there deciding. OUR PICK~ CHICKEN KATSU ~ Panko battered chicken. It was very good! It had a light crunchy, crispy texture. And it wasn't dry! The macaroni salad was also very good and creamy. Rice and katsu sauce was also given. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. But we were hoping to get some kind of vegetables to make it a complete dish. Usually boiled cabbage or a salad would come with this meal. However, they give you plenty of chicken katsu to fill the container up! 4.5/5 If you want good katsu, this is the place to satiate your craving!! Highly recommend!

Pretty standard Hawaiian bbq place, and I love that they have a low carb option! The short rib was well seasoned. The bbq beef was a bit salty for my personal taste, and there was a piece that tasted fishy. My favorite was the chicken as it was flavorful and juicy. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Friday night. It looks like they do a lot of takeout orders. There are a good amount of big tables for dine in, and it's more of a self-serving place rather than a restaurant.

    Garlic Basa
    Lisa C.

The best thing I had here was the Garlic Basa. Super garlicky fish fillets on a bed of veggies. Offset this with their greasier offerings and they are brilliant together. I also like their Fried Shrimp. Chicken Katsu's crusty breading was filling, and one piece stuffed me up. The rest of what I had tried (ranked best to worst when eaten there): * BBQ short ribs * Fried Fish * BBQ chicken * BBQ beef I find their BBQ meat greasy, and overly tenderized. But steaming and discarding the leftover liquids bring them to perfection. Overall, good values, large portions, similar to L&L. Yummy garlic fish, but I had a better version of that in L&L (Stockton).

My boyfriend and I shared two plates: came with fried fish, shrimp, chicken cutlet, grilled meat. First, the portions are huge for the price! You definitely get your moneys worth. Also, everything tastes fresh, which was surprising since there was a lot of fried food. Loved the mac salad as well. Service is really nice and we thoroughly enjoyed this spot :)

along san mateo ave in downtown san bruno area...street parking and stepping inside hana hawaiian bbq...homely restaurant with typical hawaiian bbq plate offerings...marinated beef or short ribs, curry, kalua pork, pork lau lau, chicken katsu, loco moco, musubi, etc...long list also including samin noodles, burgers and sandwiches...weekday afternoon visit and pretty empty...ordering a loco moco regular size to-go and paying roughly $17 total after tax and tip...mini sizes available for most items...two generous scoops of rice, extremely mayo-heavy macaroni salad, 2 hamburger patties and 2 fried eggs smothered in gravy...hefty meal for 1 person...food is fast and standard...comparable to a l&l...

Food is awesome. My family go to when we want to eat Hawaiian BBQ chicken, loco moco, chicken katsu on the side. Taste very good and the price is just right. Staff is nice as well and the service for the food is fast as well. Great place!

Want a convenient location near the airport for your Hawaiian food craving? Then check out Hana's. I was eager to have my favorite food again once we came back over to the West Coast. With street parking available, ordering at the counter, and our food coming out in a timely passion - I was very pleased! Plus the pricing was good for what I'm used to. The food is what I know it to be! The mix plate was a great serving for my partner and I to share for a late lunch. The meats are good cuts, and the mac salad is great. Really pleased we found this place & I do recommend!

Spam Musubi. Tasty & fresh, but a bit steep at nearly $3.

Add all those tourists and transit people you also have people from the whole peninsula, you can understand how crowded it gets here. The parking lot is probably the worst part of the experience here because it's always congested so I do not recommend coming here is you are short of time. It shares the parking lot with the carwash and several other restaurants so you'll likely be stuck here for a long while regardless whether you are going through drive thru or parking. The food is standard in n out which means something if you either are local or tourist. In n out intentionally goes old school so there is no app no order ahead and everything is pretty much all hand made including fries. If you never had their fries you may be surprised at the difference in texture but you'll like it the more you try. The burger is fresh and my only complaint is that I don't like their buns especially if you do grilled onions or animal style because the buns get soggy and breaks apart. That's one part shake shack had the upper hand.

Ordered the Double-Double animal style, and yeah... it lives up to the hype. The patties taste fresh, not frozen, and you can tell they're made to order. The melted cheese, grilled onions, pickles, that sauce -- it's messy but balanced. Nothing feels overdone. It's just a really well-built burger. Fries get mixed opinions, but straight out of the fryer they're solid. Light, a little crispy, not overly greasy. Add a bit of salt and they're gone fast. Shake was thick, classic, no shortcuts there either. What stands out most is how consistent everything feels. The menu is simple, but that's the point -- they focus on doing a few things really well instead of trying to do everything. Service is quick, staff actually seem organized, and the place stays clean even when it's busy. It's one of those spots where you don't feel like you overpaid or got rushed through a line. You just get good food, made right, every time. Came in expecting fast food, left feeling like it's in its own category. Easy 5 stars -- and yeah, I'd go back without thinking twice.

Ok hear me out…read more.. This MIGHT be the best burrito in the bay area. If it ain't the best in the bay, then it's definitely my new favorite. Every time I try a new burrito spot I always think "does it beat my current favorite burrito spot?". After a few bites, it was an easy yes. If could take all the Taquerias in the bay area and pick things from them to create the best taqueria, I'm 100% taking the Burrito from here. I wasn't too thrilled about the chips and salsa/sauces, but for me, the steak and shrimp super burrito was top tier. The other people I ordered for had no idea about this spots reputation before ordering. But after a few bites the consensus amongst my group was that this spot makes a really really good burrito. Do I feel this way because of the Michelin guide or the articles written about it? No. The food speaks for itself. The location is small. But the menu, the flavor and portions are anything but. I ordered the steak and shrimp super burrito and it was so good. My burrito didn't lack anything. There was enough shrimp, enough steak. Not overpowered with rice and beans. Not one element overpowered. Each bite was even better than the last. I wish the verde sauce had a little more kick but it was still flavorful. How do you even explain a good burrito? For me, you just have to try it and hope my recommendation doesn't let you down. Another plus, My daughter has a few allergies and was able to safely eat the mexican rice and grilled chicken. Note that parking is limited, it gets crowded and seating is limited. But those are signs of a really really good place to eat.

Even at 4 pm on a weekend, the place was packed - pretty much every table was taken, but we were still able to find a spot. Many people are also just sitting while waiting for their to go order so they'll vacate once they receive the food. Be prepared to wait a bit for your food - they make everything fresh and to order and the average wait time will be at least 20 minutes. You will get complimentary chips despite whether you're getting the food to go or dining in. Since our family was hungry, our first order of chips was gone within a few minutes. Even though they don't really do tableside service here, the guy that was working behind the counter was great about coming out and making his rounds. He proactively offered to bring us another order of chips, brought out an extra plate without having being asked because he saw we had a couple of little kids with us, and also asked if we wanted one of our burritos to be cut as he (correctly) assumed we would be splitting the food between the kids. He also brought out boxes for us to take away the leftovers once we were close to the end of our meal. The food itself was also fantastic - the meat is always tender, nicely seasoned, and perfectly grilled to bring out all the flavors. You can't go wrong with the super burrito ingredients - guac, cheese, sour cream, rice, and beans.

You charged $9.20 for two regular tacos and one bean burrito add sour cream and extra red sauce. I just want to note that you guys charge $.90 extra for a side of sour cream. You should honestly be ashamed of yourself. I don't know if it's the individual owner or the corporation that decides it, but regardless, you people are freaking ridiculous and your assholes for doing that. I would be embarrassed if I was you. You are crooks and you have zero integrity. Another thing I noticed is how you guys charge $1.89 for a cheesy bean and rice burrito yet it's a dollar more for a bean burrito??!! WTF is the actual thought process on this?! You guys are crooks. Here's the funniest part of my experience, the lady in the drive-through asked me how many sauces I wanted for my meal. I said seven or eight. I like sauce, don't judge. When I got back to work, not a single packet of sauce in sight. And my bean burrito that I ordered extra red sauce for, well they gave me the extra sauce on the side, but no sauce in my burrito. F you for that. And the $.90 they charged me for for the side of sour cream... No side of sour cream. You guys are horrible. It even says on the receipt Seven hot sauces. LOL. Another terrific part of this whole experience was not having a single napkin to go with my meal. I guess you have to pay for those too. I want to note that it wasn't busy nor was it extremely slow. There was about 3 cars ahead of me in the drive-through and a few cars in the parking lot. I mention this because if it's insanely busy then there has to be a forgiveness factor but this is just inexcusable, lazy, and bad business. For the amount of money that you guys are charging for your product only to NOT give people what they paid for?! You're scummy. Just straight up bad business.

Talk about hold in the wall indeed. In the heart of biotech country sits the small mom & pop market…read more& deli serving hearty, yet inexpensive, sandwiches. I was in the area for work, and I needed something quick and easy as I was hopping from one biotech site to the next. This shop was conveniently nearby and free parking wasn't difficult to find (sufficient street parking + nearby neighborhood parking). The menu is pretty straightforward, offering a variety of basic and specialty sandwiches. Most of the basic sandwiches (the one meat options with standard toppings) were less than $10!! I opted for one of those sandwiches, getting the turkey sandwich on dutch crunch. From the cross-section of the sandwich, you can tell this is indeed a hearty sandwich. The quantity of meat they provide for the price is plentiful, and the ingredients making the sandwich all tasted fresh. The service was fast and friendly overall. There's no seating inside or outside, so I ended up eating this in my car. But for this price and quality, I'd do this again any day.
