If the rude middle-aged woman is working the front (might be an owner or the owner's partner), you can get many of their breads, without her attitude, at Aldrich's Market on the next corner, The Food Co-op, or even at Safeway. read more

I'm italian. From a large italian family. A family that can gobble two very large homemade loaves of bread every evening for dinner and still want more. So I feel like my opinion counts. This bread is damn good. The panini rolls are to die for, just toasted with good quality butter. Omg yum. Not very many local, well made, high quality bakeries anymore. I've now actually been to the bakery (both the actual bakery and the stand at the farmer's market) and it's fantastic. The seedy sourdough is my favorite, but I honestly don't think I've had a bad loaf from Pane d'Amore, and I've tried a bunch of different types now. Although I'm skeptical of gluten-free baked goods in general, their gluten-free chocolate walnut cookies were really tasty, and I also enjoy their apple pockets and croissants (both plain and chocolate). read more

I don't know why we haven't stopped by here before! We travel to Pt. T a few times a year for a weekend getaway and will not make a point to stop here each time. Stopped in last weekend on a sunny Sunday morning, like the locale. It's small upon entering and imagine at peak times there must be a line out the door. All their products looked delish, can't wait to try some other items. Our service was quick, attentive and friendly. DH ordered the chocolate croissant and I had the lemon cranberry scone. I am a home bread baker and have been for years. The quality was excellent! The best thing we had was the garlic panini bread that we didn't sample until dinner. Excited to visit this bakery after reading rave reviews. It was ok. Granted they didn't have the famous peanut butter cookies so we were a bit disappointed. We got a cinnamon bun, chocolate biscotti, pear tart, and chocolate chip walnut cookie. The cashier wasn't too friendly. read more

I was very excited to visit this bakery after all of the rave reviews, however it did not live up to the fame. The selection of pastries was very limited. We were already set on getting peanut butter cookies and when they didn't have them, the worker was not at all helpful at helping us find a replacement. We tried to have a conversation on what would be a good option to try and she was quite rude. We quickly picked a few things and we were not happy with them. The biscotti and cinnamon roll left more to be desired. read more

Best bread I've had in America, and that's taking nothing away from the many excellent bakeries in Seattle. That judgment includes plain breads and the fancier breads with fruits and nuts. The cheese sticks are addictive, and their pastries are good too, though not the best I've ever had (seldom can a bakery be equally good at bread and pastries), Anything here is worth trying. In addition to the fantastic bread, they have a helpful and friendly staff and the place smells fantastic. There's nothing like an old-style bakery. On a visit to the Salal Cafe a year or so ago, the toast was so much better than usual that we asked about it. We were told us that they had switched to Pane d'Amore. Solid bakery. Excellent breads, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. All super fresh. Popular items tend to sell out by mid-afternoon. Their demi-baguette is perfect for making banh mi. One of the places that makes Port Townsend such an outstanding community. They also sell a nice selection of cheeses, drinks, etc - perfect for putting together a picnic to take to one of the beaches. read more

Unfortunately, this bakery used to be very very good. The pastries were excellent- light and delicate. The bread used to be outstanding. But all things change, bthe akery is still reasonably good. The pastries are heavier, especially the cinnamon twists. They are often underbaked and coated with three times too much cinnamon sugar. The bread is very uneven. Sometimes the loaves are excellent, Sometimes they have risen way too fast and have giant air bubbles and hardly any bread at all. On top of this declining quality they have seen fit to raise the prices. The staff remains very pleasant and cheerful. also they do not label their ingredients, it's very hard to tell what has nuts. read more

Pane d'Amore is a must-visit spot in Port Townsend! We were lucky to have found it. It's very small, cozy, and all the locals were stopping in to get their breakfast and their loaves of bread. I tried the chocolate croissant and cinnamon twist for breakfast, which were both incredibly fresh, flaky, and chewy. We took home a loaf of the organic sourdough and the rosemary. DELICIOUS! They were both so flavorful with great chewy texture. Perfect accompaniment to potato leek soup on a cold rainy day. read more

They do everything right at this bakery. Even the drip coffee (Olympia Coffee Roasters) is spot on. The chocolate in the pain au chocolate is the dark kind you find in France, perfect!. The sourdough white has the best crust, look for the darkest one, it has the best flavor. Sometimes the line at the Port Townsend store stretches out the door, but it's worth the wait. read more

There are so many elegant treats here, that I seem to have skipped over some basics! I always get the canelles (enough to share, which I don't) and I love the rye bread, the handmade mayo (when they have it) the veggie sandwiches are bomb, love the pickled onions, the focaccia pizza... The seedy bread is a staple in our house, but get this: the boring old blueberry muffin is THE BEST!!! Like SO. GOOD. Try one. Try all the other stuff too, but don't skip the muffin. read more

I was so disappointed this morning when my husband went in to to Pane d'Amore to pick up the special order of bread I had ordered on Monday morning because we were having guests for lunch. Only to be told, No we don't have an order for Nancy!" No apologies, no remorse!!! I purposely called Monday morning as I have been told in the past it requires a couple days notice. I guess from now on I remember the persons name I gave the order to but regardless, can't serve that with my soup!!!! read more

Best place for cinnamon rolls! We always get the cranberry walnut bread and a cheese stick or two. They also have a nice collection of local cheeses and such now. Not cheap, but great quality. read more

Let me start by saying that the bread I've tried so far has been great! I find their prices to be a bit expensive but worth it... mostly. Tried their filled croissants yesterday and if you blink, you'll miss seeing the filling. We got a chocolate and an almond croissant and they were everything a plain croissant should be. There was such a little dab of filling inside that it was laughable. WAY too much money to pay for something so sad. read more

While it is always delicious I do not believe most people know that in the production and bagging of the bread it is dropped on the floor(and still bagged), handled with bare hands, the location that makes it allows pets/the local cats inside the room while the bread is being made and bagged, the floor is only cleaned once a day. The bread is exposed to cuts on hands and fingers, moths, and small flies. And for all those doubters, this was witnessed. read more
