Its Panera what can I say.... sometimes its good sometimes its bad. Depends on what you order really. So I ended up here after seeing the free breakfast at my hotel was all wrapped in plastic, not continental at all! I was there very early, taken care of right away. I ordered the Sausage Egg and cheese Sandwich. its great, you can tell its a real egg with the yolk cooked inside. It was a good visit to Panera on this day. read more

I am usually a huge fan of Panera, I've been to quite a few around PA. I was totally disappointed in this one, though. The employees were uninterested in serving my mother, daughter, and me to the point it was almost rude. My mother has a mypanera card and the woman running the register acted as if it was a pain in the rear to swipe it! When we got our order (which totaled around $27) the only person whose food was good was my 11 month old daughters! My mother's sandwich had no condiments on it and my salad tasted "off" and the lettuce was all wilted and soft. We would have taken it up and complained, but in the 30 minutes we were there I witnessed 2 other people take food back and be treated with disrespect. Real nice, huh? On a side note, the bathroom was totally gross. I'm just glad my daughter didn't need a diaper change because it was horrid in there. This wont stop me from going to Panera ever again, but I most def not be going to this one ever again. read more

You really can't go wrong with Panera. Lots of options for any time of day, and reasonable-ish prices. This location was pretty good. The service was okay, but not remarkable. It took little bit to find a clean table. The wifi was kind of slow. Overall, I probably won't seek this location out again, but j didn't see any reason to specifically avoid it either. read more

Had the French onion soup and tomato and mozzarella panini. Very tasty. Very clean and great service. In a hurry great place for lunch.

The food here is okay. The Chocolate Chip and the Cinnamon Crunch bagels are the best bagels! But if you don't go early in the morning to get them, you won't get them... This Bakery/Coffee Shop is tops. It is always clean, the coffee and tea are always good, and the baked goods/menu food items are delicious. There was a period of time when the menu prices did not match prices at the cash register. I did mention this more than once to various managers. I was told that "corporate" was to blame for this discrepancy. The managers claimed they could not make the correction. After a couple of months, this problem was corrected. This is the only problem I have ever encountered there. This business has very nice service and is usually filled with friendly clientele. read more

I passed up Dunkin Donuts where I originally planned to go and drove 1.5 miles off the main road to the Altoona Panera Bread. I go in and where you normally go to place your area, no one is there, they moved down where the bagels are stored. After I get this part figured out, I was not the only customer this happened to. Michelle is telling the other girl we will just stay down here. I figured I would grab a half dozen bagels and was giving my order when she starts commenting to someone behind me that she made the coffee just for him and continues conversing with him while I am giving my order??? She then says hold on as she had to delete part of the order to correct a item as she put the wrong number in. She is complaining that it was hot and they need to turn the ac on as she grabs the receipt to fill the order, she is saying they should send her home as she didn't want to be there as she wanted to go enjoy the beautiful day. She continues complaining that she has worked 6 days in a row. I get home and guess what I have 5 bagels, the one I ordered the cranberry walnut one that I wanted to try is missing. I checked my receipt and 6 are listed. At the top of their receipt, it reads: Accuracy matters; If your order is not right, please let a manager know. I tried calling the store and after 8 rings and no one answers I guess no one cares since it wasn't on their catering line. read more

Worst Panera I've ever been in. Six people were working and nobody even acknowledged us. The store was almost empty so they were not busy. The store was filthy - the floors had gobs of green crud and paper scraps on them, and the tables and seats were all dirty so I had to wipe them myself. The manager was unable to tell me the ingredients of the chicken tortilla bowl. My friend's chicken noodle soup had nothing in it but broth. The music was simperingly Inane. It was 76° outside and they had the fireplace blasting, so it was miserably hot. Do yourself a favor and just skip this place. read more

This is the worst Panera I have ever been to. First, I tried to order a berry smoothie and they were out of the ingredients so I had to order a different smoothie. I had a voucher from another Panera (my order had been incorrect so they gave me a $2 coupon), the cashier didn't know what it was so he asked an assistant manager to ring it in. The assistant manager said she would be right there, then I saw her go into the back, come back out, completely make two sandwiches (start to finish), all while the line is being held up waiting for her to finish my order. When she finally got around to helping the cashier with my order, she was so rude! She acted like she was angry at me. Then when my credit card wouldn't scan on my end or on hers she asked me to manually type it in. In ended up using a different card just get out of there ASAP. The cashier and the girl who made my smoothie were sweet, but the assistant manager was awful. To make things worse, my smoothie was only about 80% full. I will not be going back to this Panera! read more

Oh good. No customers at Panera, so let's eat there! Thankfully they wait until you are in line to roll out their brand of artificial intelligence (you know, the robot-people who appear out of nowhere and spend the whole time staring at their cellphones while waiting behind you). They came out in droves, but first come, first serve... Well technically, no. Some of them get their food before you b/c they ordered the artificial food-our family prefers real/earth grown nutrients, and not syrup gravy, so sometimes it takes longer. I ordered 2 flatbreads, but only got one. The line is so long that this one simple mistake will take 45 minutes to correct, due to high demand customer-robots at 5:40 on Wednesday. Time is money and fun- so, I'll take the loss-especially when one of the A.I. put a uniform on and started running the sweeper under our table while we were still eating there. What the??? Hello!? Who does that? I'll tell you who: robots. I didn't even get offered a scone or similar pastry for 99 cents. They have acai-tea, but has anyone ever tried it? I doubt it. read more

This has got to be the worst Panera Bread in the State of Pennsylvania. It's too bad it is located in my hometown. My family loves the broccoli cheddar soup so I go there for takeout about twice a month. The problem is that 90% of the time they are out of SOMETHING we want. My wife likes the sprouted grain roll instead of the standard bread choice. They are out of the sprouted grain roll about 50% of the time. I have went there before and been told they are out of broccoli cheddar soup. They have been out of the desert choices we have wanted multiple times. This type of thing is ROUTINE at this location. I've had it. Tonight my wife was not feeling well and I talked her into soup and a sandwich from Panera so she could take it easy. I did the 10 minute drive through traffic to get there. She wanted soup and a tomato and mozzarella flatbread. I was going to get a tuna sandwich and get the group soup for us to split. When I started to order my wife's sandwich I was told that they were out of flatbreads and they could make it from some other type of bread. Are you freaking kidding me? Flatbread sandwiches are 25% of the menu, how the heck are you out of them at 4:30 in the afternoon right before the coming rush? I told them to cancel the entire order and walked out. I've settled for something else at this location one too many times and that is part of the problem. Whoever is in charge of keeping ingredients and items in stock at this location needs to be fired. After a long day of traveling, I was looking for something that was cheap, healthy, and close to the freeway. Panera was the perfect option. Our meals were fresh and tasty and the staff was pleasantly helpful. Panera is fantastic. read more

My wife loves this place but have been dissatisfied with the food..today was the worse yet..number one I wish they had more manly items like cheesesteak,chili,hamburgers etc...today I tried the cheese and brouculy soup in a bread bowl very disappointing and my wife had the same soup in a glass bowl with some kind of girly sandwich...my wife agreed with me it was not the same as usual and she said the soup taste a bit sour also as the The soup was very watery and not creamy and it had a sour taste to it..And the bread not crisp at all tough as as can be to the point I found not pull it apart with my teeth or cut with the knife that came with the meal..I threw half of it away as I could hardly chew it...maybe because it was hot and clammy in the place the bread my have lost its crispness as I never leave that kind of bread left.my wife Had some kind of a chockolate stuffed thing and I chose the peacn sticky bun..my wife loved her desert but mine was dry and just not like a stick bun..maybevagain because of the heat and humidity.i don't know but threw half that away also.....not a pleasant experience..I told my wife I leave good reviews and bad and this gets a bad one for sure..my wife reluctanty agreed with on this visit...doubtful I will ever eat at any of their places but my wife hasn't given up...could not more than three and that is pushing it..service ok.. read more

The service at this Panera Breads is absolutely abysmal. Unfortunately, my boss enjoys Panera's pastries, so I have no choice but to order a pastry tray and bagels from them on a quarterly basis. I have learned to take inventory of my order before leaving the store, because this Panera shorts your order EVERY time. The last time I called them when I realized I had been shorted two pastries, and I was assured that it would be made up on the next order. The next order indeed had two extra pastries - that I later noticed I was charged for on my receipt. Today, after being completely ignored by the counter person who "didn't see me standing there", I picked up my order, only to find it short 7 of the 13 bagels I ordered. To her credit, the manager (I think) apologized profusely and corrected the mistake but seriously??? Everyone has a bad day, but it seems like every day is a bad day at Panera Bread in Altoona, PA. read more
