Panera is... dependable. That's the one word I would use to describe nearly every Panera, but especially this location. You don't go to Panera to get phenomenal fresh baked pastries or top-tier food. But you can rely on a fairly tasty menu and consistently good coffee, tea, and other beverages. My biggest issue: the price. It's expensive here. Small portions and high prices. At least if you dine in, you can refill your beverage at their wonderfully stocked beverage bar. My latest visit included a coffee, a cinnamon crunch bagel, and a muffin top. The muffin top was over baked and kind of bland tasting, even with chocolate chips. The cinnamon crunch bagel was great and my kiddo devoured it, but I ordered it non-toasted and they toasted it anyway. Coffee- great as always. A few varieties to choose from. I did half blonde roast and half decaf. Very tasty. Hot and fresh. I do like that this location has lots of seating, is open and spacious with lots of windows, and offers a patio. We went to the sandwich place yesterday. Fine employees we're not very friendly. They could've been a little more helpful. I thought they were rude and for the price of the sandwiches that we got, they couldn't add a little more meat to the sandwiches and then on top of that they had us pulled to the front and sit there and the person that came and gave us our food did not even say hello or anything They really do need to work on their manners and be more polite and for the price of the food, put more meat on the sandwich's read more

I haven't been to any Panera in almost 5 years because of how expensive it's gotten... my experience at the Carson City location solidified I won't be back anytime soon. I was feeling a little sick so I placed a pick up order for soup and salad. The bag was sealed when I went to pick it up and the receipt had everything checked off, I thought I was good to go. My half soup, half salad, and then soup in a bread bowl cost $34 AND was missing the side baguette, croutons and extra salad dressing. Super overpriced hospital food, and then you don't even get what you pay for. I miss the golden days when Panera was actually good and fairly priced! read more

The location was bright and clean. The employee that was working the register was friendly and welcoming. For food we both ordered from the "you pick 2" menu. I got the Frontega Chicken (no onions) and the Autumn Squash Soup. My husband had the Ciabatta Cheesesteak and the Cream of Chicken & Wild Rice Soup. To drink he had a soda pop and I had the Blueberry Lavender Lemonade. Both sandwiches were good but nothing special. They were hot and all items were in proportion. The meats were lightly seasoned and the bread was toasted to Panera standards. The Frontega has been my go to for years and I have to say I miss the old recipe-i'm not a fan of the new one. The Autumn Squash Soup was DELICIOUS! I wish it came around more often. It is flavorful and the garnish brings it to the next level. The Chicken & Wild Rice Soup was hearty and good but had an interesting surprise in it. We weren't sure if it was a giant chunk of cardboard (this is my thoughts based on texture) or a large bone, but we found a large object in the soup which was a turn off. My Blueberry Lavender Lemonade was DISGUSTING! I had two sips (my husband could only stand 1) and had to throw it away. It tasted like a lavender candle. Panera bread is a pleasant addition to the dining landscape of Carson City. My wife and I were there on a cold and blustery day. We had some hot onion soup that tasted great. We also had two different breakfast sandwiches. The staff was pleasant and helpful and everybody knew their role in making the guests happy. Food was good. Panera has a good product. However, service is another matter. This place is perpetually slow. Every time I have gone there it takes a while to get anything. This is my first Yelp on it. I made an online order at 4:17pm. I asked for it to be ready at 5pm in the drive thru. I arrived at the drive up at 4:55pm and waited for one customer ahead of me. At 5pm I was at the window and was told my food wasn't ready, go sit in the parking lot. I waited 7 minutes. I go and ask where is my food? Who are you? I'm G Meyer, I have an online order I made at 4:17 to be ready at 5:00. Am I still waiting for it? She tells me they are starting on my food now. She offered me cookie to placate me like I was five. Geez why is Panera so expensive. The pick two isn't really a deal. A small side of Mac n cheese was over $8.00 and they give you bread with everything. So if you love bread this is your spot. All of of their soups contain dairy and gluten which was disappointing if you have food sensitivities. Although it does seem vegetarian friendly. I will say that this location is brand new and it's super nice inside and big. They do bake their own bread and have a large treat section. Shoutout DOROTHY THE DELINQUENT DOOR DASHER! My lady and I ordered $56 worth of food from the Panera app for delivery and tracked the order up until it was claimed to be "DELIVERED" - 15 minutes later and my door step was still deprived of any edible, gluten-filled substances from this delicious establishment. I realized that I could not contact the driver once they "DELIVERED" the order, so I instead called the restaurant to explain our predicament and feeling horrible as they were set to close in 25 minutes! The amazing manager here was as accommodating as could be, and offered to remake our order while we made our way down to the restaurant! Since I'm in the area, decided to order online from my phone. Went inside to pick up order and the bagels were ready, but not the drinks. I see this restaurant has many negative reviews, but the two times I have been here (October 31, 2022--two weeks after the grand opening--and today), and the service was excellent. This restaurant is in a new plaza (Cochise Crossing) on the south end of Carson City, by US route 50/I-580 and South Carson Street. It only opened on October 17, 2022, and was the company's second location in northern Nevada (with the one at UNR in Reno being the first a month earlier). There are two more Panera Breads planned for Reno and Sparks. I went in the early morning today and got a pastry to go (pumpkin cookie for the fall!). The manager was walking by and greeted me. I looked at all the pastries and bagels, which were freshly baked, full stocked, and thoughtfully displayed, and made my choice. I chose the self-service stations, as there were three, and only one was taken. Otherwise, there were two people ahead of me in line, but I noticed it went quickly. The self-service station was easy to use, well lit, intuitive, and clean. Almost as soon as I placed the order, I went to the pick-up hutch by the kitchen window. There was a computer display showing the status of my order. The manager saw me looking at the ready pick-up items and told me there was an order waiting with the name "Megan" she thought was mine, but it wasn't. She then quickly handed my finished order right to me. It couldn't have been more than a minute since I placed the order that it was ready! I forgot to test the free wifi, but I will next time. The restaurant itself was spotless, as was the parking lot. It was brightly lit. The store was well staffed, and the employees worked fast and were well trained. It wasn't too busy--mostly customers getting food before heading off to work. A few tables were occupied. There was even a clear drive-thru, which many of the older Panera Breads do not have. Delivery is also available if you prefer, as well as catering. One thing I would like to mention, which has nothing to do with the restaurant, is this business can be a little tricky to enter, since the entire small plaza it is in is on Cochise Street, but is blocked by Dutch Bros. Coffee on W. Appion Way. Most people will come to this location via S. Carson Street, and turn onto W. Appion, then think they can enter the plaza on W. Appion, but there is that aforementioned Duch Bros. Coffee, which is not part of the plaza. If you enter that restaurant, there is no way to get to Panera Bread. You have to turn onto Cochise St. after driving on W. Appion. No biggie, but I just wanted people who are unfamiliar with the location, like me, to know. I will definitely return to this restaurant, as it is a clean location with excellent service, good food, and plenty of space to work. read more

There's at least 2 ways to consider a Panera Bread review: Baked Goods and Sandwiches. Although I've enjoyed a number of business meeting catered lunches from other Panera Bread outposts, this review doesn't cover this service. Instead, I'll focus on the bakery (bread, scones, cookies, sweet rolls, etc). I consider Panera Bread to be a "Tweener" bakery that's situated somewhere in the middle between grocery store pastries (on the low end) and a locally owned patisserie. Here in the Carson Valley, think of the continuum between Raley's and LA Bakery or Schat's. Within my previous East Bay SF residence, any baked good purchase outside of Cheeseboard/Arizmendi would be considered a capital offense. The new Carson City Panera Bread is a little out of the way (off South Carson) and seemed a little quiet when I popped in. There was no dining room action, but the bakery counter did offer a decent variety of breads, scones, cookies, etc. I went for bag of small scones, which were both handy and delicious at home. IMHO, LA Bakery has the best scones in this area, but often convenience counts and we just happened to be in the Panera neighborhood at the right time despite a few more turns. Schat's? Let's just say that on Sunday, when they say they're open, isn't always the convenient truth (unless you're in Minden). read more

This place is honestly hit or miss tonight I went through the drive through and my husband and I both noticed that the young man taking our order didn't have very good customer service and sounded very distracted we pulled up to the window to see 3 teenage boys laughing inside while the guy at the window still seeming distracted. My husband and I have lunch at Panera almost once a week. Have always been treated well and enjoy the food. We were in the store today and enjoyed our lunch, but saw a couple of things happen that we thought should be brought to your attention. One of the men working in the kitchen kept touching his hair, his nose and his eyes, he was not wearing gloves, but never left to wash his hands. I used the womens restroom while I was there and an employee was using the restroom also and she left and didn't wash her hands. Just wow second time I've been stuck in their drive through for over half an hour!!!!! I can't this time I even ordered on the app 20 minutes before getting here and I'm still in the drive through half an hour after getting here! Two sandwiches and two cups of soup! Why on earth does that take 30-50 minutes to make and hand to me? The food is overpriced and skimpy. This will be my last trip to any Panera ever! The salad was 90 percent Romain lettuce with like 5 small pieces of red onion, 5 grape tomatoes, no olives because the restaurant ran out, less than a table spoon of feta cheese.... Then...A Tiny rationed amount of chicken.. The salad didn't have enough ingredients added to the lettuce to give it any flavor... The whole experience felt like the restaurant is skimping on the amount of ingredients to maximize profit... I placed an $50 order online for pickup at 6:40 AM The online system allowed me to be select the time of 6:40. I have been to this location before at approximately the same time in the past. I received both an email and text message saying my order was ready. When I walked in I was told that this location does not open until 8. (The doors were unlocked) and the person helping me seemed rather put out that she had to take time to fill my order . I understand and there was a system message that stated the day before the location had a delayed opening due to weather but there was no indication that on the day I was placing my order it would be a problem. Yes I tipped, so really the question is why is the online system allowing you to place an order and further why does an employee apparently get to decide when they are open. So reading the review were ready to have a long wait for our food. We even asked some folks while we were walking in how long it had taken for their food. They were still waiting. Our food came out relatively quickly so that was good, but.... For 60.08 we got 2 kids meals that contained a half turkey sandwich and a go-gurt. The sandwiches were plain with just turkey and cheese and bread. I had the pick 2 with the steak sandwich and tomato soup and mom got a pick 2 with the chipotle chicken avocado sandwich and Thai chicken soup. Plus drinks. So for that price we feel like it should've been better. Definitely not a good deal for a family of 4. We could've gone to our favorite sandwich spot and for 60.08 had enough food to bring home. Plus the prices on the menu board are misleading. And the menu they give you doesn't have pricing on it, just calorie amounts. What kind of menu doesn't have the prices listed for the items on it?!? We thought we waited long enough for the issues that plagues an opening of a place but sadly not. We have been to Panera's in So Cal and either their quality has gone down and prices going up or this particular one is having issues. We asked the person at the counter what she recommended, her response was, the bagels. We looked at her half laughing with a confused look on our face and she said, that's because she loves bagels. We asked what a warm bowl was and she showed us the picture in front of her register. That was the only picture of any of the food. There was a sign that said pick 2 so you got half a sandwich with a side for about a dollar more than the full sandwich. That was a huge ripe off if you see the nice half sandwich with what looks like about 4-6 ounces of mac and cheese which sells for $6.99 by itself! It cost almost $15! Crazy! Get the whole sandwich instead. My daughter said her sandwich, a chipotle chicken avocado was really good. My husband and I wanted something warm so we got the Mediterranean bowl and the baja bowl since the picture looked great. We got our bowl and my husband's looked small, got mine and was mind blown with the bowl only 25% full. WHAT! I walked up to the lady I ordered from and asked what the heck! This bowls were about $13 each! She called the manager and he said they forgot to add the rice. He took my bowl and about 5 minutes later got a bowl that had other items added but still pretty small and not presented well. Took one bite and it was not a warm bowl but more like a room temperature bowl. My husband enjoyed his and he and I left still hungry. $47 for 3 items and definitely not satisfied with the food, quantity and prices. The only reason why a 2 star vs a 1 star is my daughter's half sandwich was the best patt of this whole meal. Won't be coming back unfortunately. read more

I ordered the teriyaki chicken and broccoli "warm" bowl for $13.89. It came out to be a little more than $15 with tax. The bowl was small and they gave me a small piece of bread to go with it.
