I can't believe I haven't reviewed Bella Vita! I have been visiting Bella Vita Bistro for years, mostly takeout for lunch, but occasionally for dine-in dinner too. Every meal at BV starts with complimentary house-made chips and dip. It's their flagship item and always delicious! My staple order is the grilled portabella veggie. It's so perfectly sauced with balsamic and smeared with goat cheese. Such a treat! You can get several sides, but their battered fries are always fantastic. My wife loves the chicken curry salad on the fresh croissant. It's hard to stay away from such a winning dish! I most recently had the turkey, pear, and brie sandwich. Holy cow! That thing was loaded and so scrumptiously good. The dinner menu is also excellent and has some special items that you can only get for dinner. Speaking of specials- they also have a daily special that always sounds great, though I haven't had any because the regular menu items are so good. The bistro itself is small but has plenty of seating. Some seating is inside the Carson Mall, and when the weather is fair, they also have some outdoor seating. They often have live music, too. The service has always been good here, both for dine-in and takeout. The timing for takeout has always been pretty accurate. I am always looking forward to another visit to Bella Vita! read more

A friend and I had another tasty lunch at Bella Vita Bistro (at the Carson Mall location) a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant is warm and welcoming, the staff are super friendly, and the food is always fresh and delicious. My friend had a bowl of chili, and I had the BV Avo Shrimp Salad (it's hard for me to get away from the deliciousness of the Avo Shrimp Salad. It's just that good!). This December (2025), Bella Vita opened a second location on College Pkwy (where Creekside Deli used to be. Now, the Carson Mall location is only open for lunch. And the new location, Bella Vita Bistro at Creekside, serves dinner, starting at 4pm. (They are also using the new location for their catering.) Now that the holidays are almost over, I'm looking forward to getting back on schedule and trying the new location, as well as getting back to the mall location soon. read more

Ordered for lunch to go, walked in to a casual/cozy entry, and the only server was very busy, but friendly despite her stress and a bit of a wait. I ordered the BV BLT with avocado and the avocado was more of a suggestion for the tiny serving that came on the sandwich. The bacon was burned, but a generous portion. The fries were crispy, but the inside wasn't cooked fully for the degree of brown on the outside of the fries. I have heard so many good things that I was excited to finally try this place, but it'll be awhile before I decide to try it again. For a $16 sandwich, I was a bit underwhelmed. A coworker order the beet salad, expecting roasted beets, she was surprised to find them tasting just as cooked. May have just been a bad day all around, but hard for me to want to return. 3 stars for the friendly staff! read more

We were seated in the mall hallway at the far end when they had tables available inside the restaurant and no other guests were seated in the hallway. Roast beef sandwiches were completely uninspired. Pear and Gorgonzola salad had 7 thin shavings of pear and 8 crumbles of Gorgonzola. Service was slow. Had to have the bartender find someone to take our payment. On the plus side the house made potato chips and dip were excellent. So if you are not young and trendy do not expect descent seating or service. read more

Took my dad here after christmas as he flew in from Texas for the week.. His favorite sandwich is a hot pastrami. Mine too now lol If you can catch them with all the fixens for a reuben, I highly recommend those. If not I get a side of thousand island for it. The marble rye bread is amazing. Toasted to perfection. They also sell homemade sourdough bread. Now on to those chips they give you with garlic dip. OMG to die for. Homemade chips with awesome dip. You can also get them as your side which we always do.. We have tried their fries too. Those are equally delicious. They also have side salad, soup and other sides available. If I had to critique 1 thing, it would be the cream potato soup. It was very thin and not much potato flavor. My dad and I both agreed on this as it was his side. My girlfried was also in there eating and she got the same soup and agreed as well. My mom used to make it, so I know how its supposed to taste for the most part. So won't order that again. And will not deter us from coming back either. The restaurant is quaint and really feels bistro-ish. We got to sit at chairs and a booth type table right by the kitchen. I love to watch kitchens work. You drink from little mason jars and they bring you a large pop top water bottle that's really cold and perfect for the table. We've had 2 different waitresses, and both have been really sweet and stayed on top of needs. We really love this place. If you love hot pastrami, I highly recommend it. A quick lunch in the area and looking for something local. We came in on a Saturday around noon. The kitchen staff seemed to be stressed and it took a while to get seated. I think we got stuck with an odd table as it felt halfway into the kitchen. There's lots of unnecessary decor and items taking up space that made the restaurant feel cluttered and messy. I think the place mostly does catering so I don't know that there's been much thought into the dining area. When seated we got some complimentary chips and dip - sort of a creamy sun dried tomato and basil concoction. We then ordered grilled cheese, an Italian sandwich and a chicken salad sandwich. My wife and I were exploring Carson City NV and decided to eat at a local non-chain restaurant. We were greeted with a very friendly hostess/ waitress named Madison. She was great! We got a chance to have a date night here recently. We had a great time. It was a Friday night and there was live music. I ordered a lemon drop and it was fantastic. Our server was awesome, friendly and helpful. But for me it's always the food. All our food was good. For a mid range price point everything tasted great! When you arrive you get complimentary homemade chips! We ordered calamari and it was great and truffle cheese with pretzel bites. I actually drove into the parking lot and was set to go to another nearby business but the cute outside signage and seating caught my eye and had me pull up their menu. It was a bummer I was on a time crunch so I had to order to go because Bella Vita is a beautiful restaurant and one I believe where the food should be enjoyed in a sit down fashion. I ordered the Turkey pear and brie and this sandwich was the perfect balance of sweet cheesy and savory. It had a crunch too, I loved loved loved the homemade potato chips. Coming in on a friday during lunchtime the people kept flowing in. They give you a big basket of homemade chips with parmesan garlic or tomato basil dip complimentary to nibble on. The sandwiches are big and loaded and they have many great sides..they don't skimp on portions. Jessie the chef and member of the family that owns this restaurant is great... his soups are the bomb.. today the special was loaded potato soup with cheese and bacon on top. Jessie gave me a bowl of his tomato bisque to sample with homemade croutons to garnish the top. You come for delicious food. You come for friendly service. You might even come for the entertainment or the relaxed, informal cabaret-esque atmosphere. It's an intimate little spot in the back of Carson mall that could be the best kept secret in North Nevada. If the tiny indoor bistro thing isn't your scene, they do offer outdoor seating and overflow options in the mall. The staff are the best. In the short time we've frequented the bistro I feel we've become good friends with everyone. They are incredibly quick, too! They strive to keep the drinks flowing and the table cleared. Before Covid you couldn't find a seat. I suspect it's heading back in that direction. Just when I tell you their greatest highlight is their service, I'm reminded of how wonderful the food is. Not only is it prepared flawlessly, the combination of flavours, spices and textures make each dish a work of art. The different entrees they've created are absolutely incredible. Seeing is believing; tasting is convincing. From the time your seated little treats come your way. When their house made potato chips and Parmesan garlic aioli dip hit the table, it leaves you craving more. Then there's the carafe of fresh water and the various appetizers. I know this amazing place as a wedding photographer. I shoot about 40 weddings a year and every few weddings this amazing company ends up catering the event. All I have to say is... WOW!!! The food is amazing. They are on point and they are there to make sure everything is successful. Its not just about sending the food and bailing. I stopped in on a lazy Monday and was basically treated like royalty by my sweet amazing server (Courtney? Casey? I forget but she was awesome!) The atmosphere is so cute and cozy, I could imagine spending a whole day here sipping on their very reasonably priced wine! I got to snack on the tastiest homemade potato chips with french onion dip while waiting for my bacon bleu burger to arrive. I almost overdid it but, alas, there is always room for a perfectly cooked burger! See the photo - that burger was spot-on medium rare and nothing short of mouth watering! Anything with bleu cheese is a win in my book, but this one just raised the bar: big juicy patty, soft and fluffy bun, perfectly cooked bacon... I wanted to enjoy my fresh and tasty side salad, but could not tear myself away from that dang burger! On the way out, I was informed that they have all sorts of fun things going on during the week: ladies night, trivia night, etc. If I lived in Carson, this would surely be my weekly hangout spot! Gayle and I came here for Lunch the other day on the strength of many stellar reviews and continued curiosity of the culinary offerings along "restaurant row" of the east side of the Carson Mall. The inside of the Bella Vita Bistro is relatively small and compact, and including the "outside" seating (inside the mall proper), there's not a lot of wasted space. They also have a catering business, which includes being able to rent out the entire restaurant for the evening. Gayle would have given this place 3 stars, as she found her BV Avo Shrimp Salad to be just OK. She was more concerned with the sign near the Kitchen stating the employees must wear masks, that was at variance with the practices of the folks working during our time there. And yes, we're both aware that we live in a red part of Nevada. I ordered the Big Bird Sandwich, which Gayle (she took a bite) and I agreed that it was delicious, in the right size, and accented well with the toasted bun and the potato/bacon/cheese soup was chosen with the order. Top that off with a bottle of Deschutes Black Butte Porter, nice friendly service, and a comfortable place to sit, and I was one happy camper. Gayle and I dine out fairly often, and it's not unusual for us to disagree on our restaurant experience as a couple. Nice little spot in Carson Mall. Who knew there were so many restaurants there? It was pretty quiet for our Saturday lunch. I went here on Thursday, March 26 for takeout. They are located at the mall in Carson City on the Stewart Street side, between the east entrance to the mall and Bobby Page's Dry Cleaning. The week before, on March 20 or so, an anonymous donor made a very generous donation to Bella Vita Bistro and wanted them to use it to help anyone in need. Here is their original Facebook announcement: https://www.facebook.com/bellavitabistroandcatering/posts/3742422765829430 How the program worked is they allow you to place an order for up to about $25 one time only, in order to make the donation last. Due to the statewide shutdown from coronavirus, you had to place your order by phone and describe your car to them, and then wait outside. An employee brought the meal to you. When I talked to the employee on the phone (twice) that day, she was so friendly and professional. She even called me back in a few minutes after she accidentally cut me off, as there was another customer on another line. I was glad she did! She was very efficient. After about a brief 10-minute wait, my meals arrived. I ordered two meals: Beef Dip: 10" hoagie piled with roast beef, melted Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli; and served with Bella Vita au jus side of potato salad sport pepper BV Tuna Salad with red onions, capers, celery, and lettuce on ciabatta side of tomato soup sport pepper I think the meals came with a sport pepper anyway, but I am not sure, as I don't know my peppers that well. If anyone knows, please let me know! The service was fast and the food was yummy! I loved the au jus--that made the beef dip sandwich! The smell was so amazing. For the other meal, the tomato soup was thick, but also a little watery, but I liked it anyway! I cannot thank the anonymous donor and Bella Vita Bistro for doing this. Bella Vita Bistro also catered the grand opening of Carson-Tahoe Care Center on Mountain Street in Carson City the previous year, and is a staple of the community. (I still need to do a review for that event too.) Their food and service are outstanding, and I plan to go back sometime soon. Carson City is so lucky to have them! read more
