We had a horrible experience at this Panera in Cumming, GA. Not only was my Mac n cheese Luke warm but my wife was handed multiple visibly soiled and dirty utensils from a staff member at the counter. When she asked for clean utensils, the woman slid them across the counter at her and said nothing. They were extremely unprofessional and I will not be eating at this Panera or possibly any Panera again. When you work in customer service industry you're expected to uphold a certain level of customer service. We did not experience that today. Very displeased. read more

This is my first review. My husband is the one that yelps good and bad . Warning long rant but I need to vent! I had a bad experience at the Dawsonville location about 2 years ago. I ordered a toasted steak and cheddar sandwich to go for my husband. I got home and the sandwich was not toasted, had no cheese, and only one slice of meat for $10.99. I called and complained. They said for me to come back up there and they would fix it. I said no, I want a refund. They said they couldn't give me a refund but they would send me a gift card for a pick two. Btw a pick two costs less than $10.99. I gave them my address and 2 years later I still haven't received my gift card. I said I would never go to Dawsonville Panera again. Today I was in Cumming and thought I would give them another chance. I use to go to this one before the Dawsonville location opened . It was always ok. I ordered the pick two with French onion soup and Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich. I also ordered an unsweetened tea with lemon at the drive through window. After I pay for the order, she gives me my ice tea and says we are out of lemon. I wish she would have told me before I paid. I wouldn't have gotten the tea. I get my order and park my car to have my lunch. I take a sip of my tea and it tastes old. I go to have my soup and there is no spoon or napkins. I go inside and ask for refund on my tea. They get the manager. She was very polite but she is very surprised the tea tastes old. She said she just brewed it. The tea was dark in color and cloudy. I always remembered their tea being light in color and clear almost like water. I get my refund and eating utensils and go back to my car to eat my lunch. I eat my half sandwich and it tastes different from what I remembered. I realize they gave me the wrong sandwich too. I ordered Turkey Bacon Avocado and they gave me Bravo Turkey Bacon . I was looking at my refund receipt for my tea, and It says if we make a mistake we will fix it and give you a sweet treat for your trouble. I started to laugh. I didn't get my treat either! This place is very clean and the people up front are usually very friendly. I have never had a bad experience and I have been here at least 10 times. I love their hazelnut coffee. This is regarding my poor experience regarding my order on 7-30-18 at 10:30a. I ordered an Italian Penini Press to-go and waited by the take out window until my name was called. I specifically asked again if it was a panini and the preparer assured me it was. What I received was a pitiful poorly made Italian on a hogie bun that apparently had been in a refrigerator or freezer as it was hard and very cold. I didn't find this out until I had left the cafe and didn't have time to return and wait for a replacement. This was my 1st experience with Panera and won't likely return. Really do have some of the best bagels around. Also the flavored cream cheese spreads are quite popular. Great variety on loaf bread as well....I always get to go. Have not tried soups or salads yet but will soon. What I do is take packaged smoked salmon on a toasted bagel, quality mustard, lettuce tomato and onion slice(Sweet).....sometimes include a pickle as well. The good: the restaurant is large, clean and nicely set up. The staff is friendly and the food is consistent with all other Paneras. The drive thru was a very smart decision for such a busy establishment. The only bad I can say is that the parking lot is atrocious. I desire to point out that I have a history with Panera that goes beyond 15 years as the cafes were my go-to comfort zone the entire time in which I was an Architecture student in colleges throughout this nation. My collegiate studies bring me to a history that starts in Savannah, GA, goes to metropolitan Atlanta, goes north to Massachusetts, then back south to Atlanta where I finally graduated with my Master's degree. Not only was I patron of Panera, which by the way always beats out my desire to be a patronage of Starbucks Coffee, or Einstein Bagels for that matter; I have been hired at this particular location after expressing my vision to bring a warmer sense of comfort and a higher point of excellence to the dining room and also to the quentessential "McBurger" ordering experience we all know of fast food. If things were to go well, as I have had leadership, customer service, team building, and food Service excellence experiences in my curriculum vitae, which I would have teamed up with a collective vision from the general manager Barbara, to bring this particular Panera cafe to a standard lower than no other within our community and even outreaching within our region. I visioned our cafe to be the "place" of Forsyth County for all to meet and mingle at . . . Perhaps with some live jazz entertainment too. Unfortunately to my dismay, both as a patron and as an employee, I desire to bring to the community who frequents this establishment the facts of how disparaging this location is to all of us. Our little town here in this medium sized County within the very large region of North Georgia, is a very special place for all of us for the strong sense of community and social strengths that seems to be lost in other regions and locations within our country. As a community we have desires and expectations for the venues and destinations within our community to not only be reflective of how we are collectively in our social realm, but our venues and destinations are also purveyors and preservers of the genuine styled social flock that we are. Please allow me the time to develop this review, or even perhaps multiple reviews on this location; as it should encompass my experiences as a patron eating bad food, smelling bad air, hearing bad words, coming from bad managers, directed to good employees, ensuring bad shifts, at a bad cafe, sitting on dirty tables with bad clenliness; all the way to enduring abusive behavior collectively from specific managers from the low supervisor level, all the way up to the high district level. the Crux of the problem with this Cafe as simple in that it is a franchised owned location and not a corporate offering. We have learned during and after the recession of this country that it is of typical behavior for a franchisee or franchise owner to not care about his investments in an establishment such as this. Buildings become run down, fixtures become outdated, air conditioning and lighting is poorly maintained, accountability and quality of the product and of the team leadership is disregarded, and all because franchisees typically do not desire to return a portion of their revenue back into the investments of maintaining a suitable environments within the establishment. Not to mention, there are a long-standing ambassador type fixtures within the cafe who are employees who do not appropriate a genuine sense of service within the patronage of the cafe. I see that there are 64 reviews as of current in Yelp for this particular Cafeand still most of those reviews quantify to a sub mutual rating of this particular Panera. , Please allow me to time to read my community's remarks and perhaps I can provide insight and explanation into why there seems to be a desire to lash out and expose the truth of how filthy and poor this destination presents to our community. Panera's is pretty pricey for a sandwich place I expect some attempt at maintaining some reasonable level of quality but this location rarely delivers that. This location is consistently out of the most basic menu items: out of plain bagels at 10 am. This is not a one time occasion, this happens 90% of the time that I go to this location. The only reason I occasionally come back is because they're the only location near. I've started to go to Atlanta bread instead when I'm not in a rush (they don't have a drive thru). I would expect a place that serves so many salads a day would have fresh greens but I never get a salad that doesn't have slimy greens or lettuce. And usually the tomatoes are not even half ripe. Well this place sucks! I ordered food through the drive through and they forgot my wife's food while messing up my order. I called when I got home and after fifteen mins of arguing was finally offered to cover my meal. I came back for my meal and had to argue with a buffoon male manager... Then their General manager came out and argued with me as well. Both trying to explain their policy and "why they don't comp meals" neither of them listening to the issue at hand or contacting the manager that made the promise. Just enjoyed another great lunch at Panera Bread in Cumming. There were several people in line so we opted to order at the kiosk. The restaurant was busy but our food was delivered to our table quickly. Our Oder was perfect and delicious! The restaurant was neat and clean and appeared to be well staffed. Let me begin by saying, "I never write bad reviews on any business, I just stop patronizing a specific location", but I have had too many bad experiences at this specific location not to write a review with the hopes they eventually improve their processes because they are so close to where I live. Don't bother with this place. There were rotten beans in the salad and all the sandwich fixings were in one corner of the roll. I was hesitant to stop after reading other reviews. I am glad I did. I placed a large to go order for 6 at the counter. The order taker was very helpful and the order was filled quickly. The restaurant had all of the sandwiches and salads. The order was filled quickly and double checked for accuracy. I just recently left there. I went through the drive through, and like always I was not greeted by a friendly appreciative person that I chose Panera to give my money to for my evening meal. All I got was "here's your card back" the food handed out and the window then shut in my face with not as much as a thank you a smile or anything. This has happened many times before but tonight I said to myself that's it I'm leaving a review as soon as I get back home. I also have often gotten home to find my order is incomplete in the bag.
