I came in to get a coffee. Seems quick and simple, right? Nah. I walk in, and 2 of the self-service kiosks aren't working. One finally opens, and I quickly make my order. Where are the coffee cups? You have to talk to the person behind the baked goods counter to get a cup. Maybe they have theft, but nowhere does it mention where to get the cups. Next, I go to the 2 coffee machines. BOTH OUT OF ORDER. See my attached photo. They need to be cleaned?! Shouldn't this be done during non peak hours? Customers were running into each other. It was so disorganized. I would have given at least 2 stars, but the elderly lady trying to get coffee said she specifically came here to get her weekend coffee, and she couldn't now. C'mon Panera.

I'm a musician and in between gigs I stopped in for a bacon turkey bravo sandwich and Greek salad. The salad was fresh and crisp and dressed just right. The sandwich was also delicious. Workers were helpful in getting me some Tabasco packets. They were friendly and the ambiance was chill and relaxing.

This is, by a long margin, the best Panera bread in the world. I know that's crazy, because wouldn't every single Panera bread be exactly the same and consistent? No, no. Of the nine or thirty Panera breads I've been to, this is by far my favorite. And here is why. This location is always spotless from a cleanliness standpoint. I also like that service is prompt, and the people at the store are very friendly. Finally, I get the sense that the employees here go above and beyond. Madison, for instance, did not skip a beat when I ordered a decaf coffee 10 minutes before they closed. Yes, I was that customer. But she didn't even flinch as she apologized that it would take them three minutes to brew a new batch. I almost feel bad that the rest of the batch would almost certainly get thrown away because it was so close to closing time. This Panera bread also holds a special place in my heart, because this was the place our families had breakfast the morning I proposed to my wife. Finally, this place is super well-lit and designed. You will see in my photos that most other Panera breads don't look this good. Thank you Madison for being so patient with me today!

For a quick hardy and or healthy meal this place hits the spot. The inside is clean, well organized, bright, and spacious. The staff is friendly and efficient. I had the chicken and rice soup which was very hardy. The soup was full of large chunks of chicken and veggies. It was satisfying and tasty. A great way to warm up on a cold day. I should also note that as filling and tasty as it is it's also healthy. Only 260 calories for a bowl. I had a refreshing green tea to go with it and enjoyed it. The contrast of the cold with the hot was really enjoyable and satisfying. For a quick and solid meal I recommend it.

    Caprese. Nothing in there.

Definitely the kind of place that's easy to stop into when you're looking for something simple and unfussy. We ordered the Italian beef with hot giardiniera and a garden salad. The standout for me was actually the bread--it was fresh, soft, and really elevated the sandwich. The beef itself was decent, but it was drier than I expected and didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping for. Thankfully, the hot giardiniera added some much-needed moisture and spice, which helped bring the sandwich together. The garden salad was very basic--just lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes--but the Italian dressing was excellent and packed with flavor. Sometimes a great dressing is all a simple salad needs. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would come back, but next time I'd probably skip the Italian beef and try one of their deli sandwiches instead. Based on what I've heard and seen, that seems to be where Berto's really shines.

Family traditions so strong you can taste them in every bite and they've now carried that torch successfully for nearly three decades. This family owned Deli is exact place you want to support and the best spot to stop for lunch or a quick to-go dinner to bring home to the family. They also have prepped frozen pasta and sauces. Parking behind the building and cutting through the alley makes it easily accessible.

It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.

Ordered a half dozen made up of 3 everything bagels, one cinnamon raisin, a cinnamon sugar, and one of their daily specials which was the mocha cookie flavor. Had a bit of mixup while ordering (most likely from when I switched one bagel out for another flavor) and somehow ended up with one less bagel when I was looking over my order in the car but they apologized and gave me the one I was missing when I went back in. The bagels and strawberry cream cheese spread are fantastic. Very good chew in the bread and quality flavor throughout I made the mistake of letting my niece try their cinnamon raisin bagel with the strawberry cream cheese as her first bagel ever and now she holds it as the standard for all others. The everything bagels are great too. Used them to make some sandwiches with some lox I had bought from the store. The banana bread latte was ok but it was a little too sweet for me and tasted more like nutmeg and hazelnut than banana.
