I've come here twice. They have a variety of flavors. One time I picked up bagels and then reheated them after being frozen. They were just ok (didn't stick out to me). So I decided to go again and eat one fresh. I highly recommend eating their bagels the same day. It was light, soft, and delicious. I had a plain bagel with cream cheese. I also bought their pumpkin spice latte and did not care for it. Everyone has different preferences though on coffee. I think plain bagels will be my go to here. read more

These people have an customer service ordering issue. I walk in and try to leave with a half dozen bagels. I'm standing behind one woman and a child. This woman had a litany of questions and the clerk behind the counter thought they were at a woman's retreat. After what seemed like fifteen minutes, I left - no bagels. I mention this in a review that ordering process might need to be looked at. A bright young man from Jeff's Bagels suggests I contact the Marketing Team at Jeff's Bagels. Let me suggest this; a customer walks out of your store without your product in hand and indicates there's a problem - now it's the customers problem to solve the failings of the business? It took a surprisingly long time for them to get me my bagels, but that may be because they sliced some of them when I asked for them not to be sliced (not sure why they would slice some but not all... do people ask for 2/3 to be sliced and another 1/3 unsliced?) Folks were friendly but I was in a hurry and needed to get out of here, so this stop took twice as long. Wrapping each bagel in paper slowed things down of course. I'm curious what the point of that is. Unfortunately, I just didn't like their bagels. The taste was ok; the jalapeño cheddar was good. But they were so soft. I don't think I've ever had a bagel this soft unless it was one of those from the grocery store in a plastic bag. And I was annoyed when I got home and put them in my bagel slicer because due to their softness, the bagels we put in there smooshed down from the blade. The blade is sharp and has never done that with any other bagel... I guess that's why they offer to slice them? Maybe you should take them up on that, I guess, because we left most of them to sit overnight in case that would firm them up but they still got smashed as I put them in the cutter. Been hearing about this place for a while! I think it took the place of tropical smoothie cafe, but it's nice to have a new spot in the area! Its a very small location with about 2 tables and bar counter seating. I came in on a Saturday and will say that it was packed! we waited about 25-30 mins from entry and waiting for the cream cheese (will talk more about that in a bit). We did see many families order larger quantities so I can see why there was a wait. The bagels themselves were delicious. They were soft and well made. I loved seeing the fresh bagels come straight out of the oven and the smell in there- oh so amazing. The cream cheese and butters they sell on the side, and looks like ice cream flavors. They had alot of different options that were very unique which I loved. The only gripe I had with this is that the cream cheese being on the side made the order more expensive. While the size is fair, I don't need that much per bagel, and the ratio was off. We also wanted to try quite a few flavors, so it was very pricey... I called the store and let them know, to which they said they'll reimburse the card for the part we did not pick up since we paid ahead of time. Have not gotten a refund and have called every week since. Each time the person on the phone tells me the refund is "in process and will be 2-3 days". It was great to check out such a popular place and worth the 30 min drive! These are authentic New York style fresh bagels and I got 6 of them. I loved all the various cream cheese options- my favorite was roasted jalapeno (not spicy at all!), brown sugar cinnamon, and the cookies and cream which tasted just like the ice cream. I didn't like the cannoli one as much as the actual dessert. They ran out of vegan chive and onion for the day so will have to go another time to try that and the other flavors $ drinks. I also got blueberry bagel, plain, everything and cacio e pepe which was different! Next time I know to order on the app ahead of time but they were pretty fast. This one of my few low rankings, and one of the few times I'll tell people NOT to come here. The bagels ARE good, which is why the rest is so disappointing! They even have a cute outdoor seating area, but the indoor area was too crowded. They sliced both of my bagels horribly, please see photos for reference. The slice is one of the easiest things to get right. But what really bothered me is that the supervisor there, in front of all the customers, literally yelled at the staff that if they slice the bagel wrong, to "throw it in anyway and keep it going" which was completely shocking and unprofessional. I understand it was chaotic in there and pretty packed with customers waiting and to go orders, but I've never seen anything like that. It also seems that their thing is to put the cream cheese in tubs and you spread it yourself, instead of them putting it on the bagel. I've never seen any respectable bagel place NOT offer single bagels with the schmear on them. They also ran out of plain bagels, which is probably the worst bagel to run out of lol. The chive and onion cream cheese was really good. But the cannoli cream cheese tasted like regular cream cheese. I was pretty disappointed, especially with the hype around this place. We don't have a lot of great real bagel places in Chicagoland and unfortunately this place does not help the bad rep. I do not recommend and will not be returning, you're honestly better off at Great American Bagel or Einstein truly. I really want to love this place, because god knows we need a great bagel spot in Downers (or really, anywhere within a 30 minute drive!) But, while Jeff's Bagel Run is a more authentic and delicious bagel than what you can find at a Dunkin or even Great American. I've been twice on a weekday morning within the first couple of weeks of opening, and the place isn't well designed to manage people waiting for their orders - it's crowded and an awkward layout to wait for pickup orders and in store orders. They also sell cream cheese on the side only, rather than taking the extra 30 seconds to slather it on a bagel for you for a convenient meal on the go. The sides are an awkward size - it's almost enough for two bagels, and a little bit much for one bagel. My biggest complaint is that the toppings on the bagel itself are sparse. When I order an everything bagel, I want it covered in everything seasoning. Instead, the seasoning is super limited and it only had a hint of the flavor of an everything bagel, it's still not the amazing bagel spot I hoped it might be. I'll probably try them again once they've had a chance to work out some kinks, but I felt a little let down after getting my hopes up for a fantastic bagel all summer. read more

New Bagel Shop Alert! Jeff's Bagel Run has officially opened their first IL location in Downers Grove (Ogden & Main). I visited for the Grand Opening which they had tons of perks: dj, balloons, coupons, samples, and goodie bags for first 100 customers. The line was somewhat long but staff was hustling to get orders taken and turned around quickly. While it was busy, every staff member was smiling, welcoming, and making the wait go by quickly. I ordered the Rosemary Salt Bagel with both their Onion & Chive Cream Cheese & Garlic Herb Butter to try. The bagel flavor was subtle but came to life with the spread flavors. My husband got the Bagel of the Day: Jalapeño Pepperjack with Jalapeño cream cheese. He loved the subtle heat and the flavors. He got a Hot Chai Latte which was perfectly spiced and I a Lavender Ice Coffee which hit the spot. Their bagel & spreads are priced individually from each other which gives customers flexibility. Overall, I'm so happy to see quality bagels in the west suburbs. Jeff's Bagel Run is a great option and cannot wait to see them grow into the area! Note: the bagels are boiled and NOT toasted. This is so bussssss ting I was wondering why they don't sell premade loaded bagels & honestly they don't need to because the bagels themselves are so delicious you can just buy the bagel without any sides & it'll be so good! While I do not go out for bagels often, I wanted to try this new place in DG. I ordered three bagels and a cream cheese trifecta to go. I liked the bagels - true, they are not toasted in the restaurant, but if you get it to go, you can toast it at home. I also agree with others - it's better warm and toasted. At the same time - not toasted allowed me to get my order in less than 5 min. The spreads are good...no - great! I got the Banana Pudding, Roasted Jalapeno, and Hot Sauce one. I thought each one was fabulous and would recommend them. The three spread menu item was ideal - more than enough for the three bagels. There is little seating inside, so you are more than likely getting it to go. read more

Stopped for a second time and just before 2:00 which I didn't realize was their closing time. They still had most flavors and there was no body else in there but me. I got the Cacio Pepe and the cheddar Jalapeño and some flavored cream cheeses one of which they were out of so I had to swap it for veggie. They can cut your bagel but apparently they cant toast them because they "make them fresh". Huh? All bagel shops make their bagels fresh. Like that day. I am not sure I get it. Also, this is a bagel shop. It is not a bagel shop that in any way shape or form turns your bagel into something greater than a bagel like let's say, a sandwich or even a sliced bagel with cream cheese spread on it. Nope. Do it yourself. The logo in the window has a bagel running with cream cheese smooging out of it. Seems incongruous at best, maybe lazy at worst. Yes I know, I am being hyperbolic about something as simple as a bagel but really, it is simple so just do it right. The bagels are good. Gave it a few more minutes. Nothing. Finally Asked what the hold up was and was advised they were out of the two bagel flavors and it would take an additional six minutes for them to be ready. Again, I'm happy to have fresh made bagels, but don't tell me my order is ready when it is not. Finally received my order 12 minutes after the text they sent me saying it IS ready. Very poor communication. Ok: they had a cranberry white chocolate bar. It was super crunchy, but there was a lack of cranberry, and all I tasted was the white chocolate, which was super sweet. The bagels were soft and chewy but i couldn't really distinguish them to be better than a non toasted bagel from the American Bagel place, except for 1 thing. The Jeffs bagel sits a bit heavier in your stomach. The cream cheese choices are plentiful. I selected Chive and it was very fresh and nicely whipped. Quite delish! Went on a Sunday afternoon hoping for a sandwich. Very disappointed to find it's only bagels and cream cheese. What's even odder is that they don't even put the cream cheese on the bagel. I paid $10 for a bagel cream cheese and the sweetest tea I have ever had in my life. They don't toast the bagel. Just slice it. That's insane. I would say...I'd give it time....but I don't think they will changing their practices. For $10 I'll go somewhere that does $10 worth of work. Bagel flavor was mediocre at best. I'm a transplant from the NY/NJ area. Have not had any bagels in the past 20+ yrs I've lived in the midwest that compared to the NY style bagels I grew up eating. I have tried bagels from different places in the suburbs and have not found any that compares....until now. Jeff's Bagels are so similar to the NY style bagels I grew up eating and hits the perfect balance between chewy and crispy. I am so happy they opened up near me. The bagels are chewy on the inside while being crispy on the outside. They are good untoasted and great toasted, slathered with cream cheese and whatever toppings I put on there. My partner who grew up in the midwest said it's the best bagel he's ever had. I've not tried their cream cheeses so I cannot speak to that. Yes, the bagels are a little on the pricey side however I try to get them as often as my budget allows because they are so good! I buy extra ones sometimes to prove to my friends how good the bagels are. The staff are gracious, cheerful, and accommodating. Sometimes they will throw in an extra bagel to the order if it's at the end of the day because they try not to have much left over. They bake the bagels fresh and I love the "bagel of the day" concept. A great way to try different kinds. I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes NY style bagels. I would love to give this store five stars but unfortunately, I have to knock it down to two. I waited over 20 minutes for a coffee that I never even received just for me to tell the owner or Manager to refund me because the wait for a coffee was ridiculous. I understand since working in the restaurant industry and running a new shop but waiting 20 minutes for a coffee when I walk in got two coffees right away is what blew my mind. I've been here every weekend since they opened, and the line is almost always out the door! The bagels have been on point every time. I had the jalapeño cheddar bagel with the elote spread at the Grand Opening, and it was incredible. There a so many combinations for bagels and spreads, I had to get an assortment of options to try over the course of a few days, and every bagel and spread was delicious. The limited time PB&J Latte sounded like a weird combo, but I loved it when I had it. I've ordered it every time I've been back, and even after it's no longer an official menu item, you can still get basically the same drink by ordering a latte with the hazelnut and strawberry added in. The spreads are good. Sliced breads are good, but sometimes too salty especially on the everything. Adjusting the salt ratio or size maybe aid in a more gentle taste. It's hard for me to call your bagels true bagels as they are not complete with the spreads on them. Having the concept you do makes your more bagels and the overall experience more similar to a Panera than a true bagel shop like Big Apple Bagels, which is close by and also makes their bagels fresh everyday! Additionally making us, the customers, have to put the spreads on makes the warmth of fresh bagels experience moot as we're stuck with the decision between sitting in our cars in your parking lot to make the bagel and have them warm OR wait till we're all the way home since it's dangerous and probably illegal to spread and eat while driving and the bagels are not warm. So, if I was going to run a shop/ restaurant that has the word bagel in the name- I'd make the bagel complete with the delicious spreads already on - making it easier for customers on the run... (and especially since you don't have a plethora of seating). Oh, and please just offer toasted bagels- everyone knows fresh and toasted bagels are the best. I'd pay an extra $.25 to toast. read more
