To end the night before we headed off to dinner, we stopped by The Semi- Tropic bar for drinks. The parking situation was difficult to say the least-- there is no street parking or parking lot. And the neighborhood behind the bar is filled with park cars. We were lucky and parked at a parking lot that was for the surrounding business (so sorry to the pizza/ weed shop!). We arrived at around 6:30 PM so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by one of the servers and she gave us options to either sit at a lounge table area or hightop tables. We opted for the hightop tables because we knew we weren't staying there for long. The server was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu for drinks. I've been sober for about a year so I only had water, my boyfriend ordered a Naoshima Dream, his cousin ordered a Mango Cart, and his cousin's girlfriend ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. The bar was super cute and hipster! I honestly would have loved going to this bar back when I used to drink. It's dimly lit, had a vintage 20's speakeasy feel to it and the music was a vibe. I'd recommend coming here for a little date with your partner or even coming with a group of friends. My boyfriend had been here once before and he said the food was really good and affordable. He had a panini and said for bar food it was a 10/10. We waited maybe like 10 minutes for our drinks to come, we were having such a fun time chatting and enjoying the environment that it didn't feel long at all. My boyfriend, his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend really enjoyed their drinks. They said the drinks tasted "light" insinuating that there was barely any alcohol in it. Don't let the taste fool you, after finishing half of their drink there were full of smiles, giggles, and had a great buzz going. The prices here were all pretty fair for the cost and quality of the drinks. Would defintely recommend coming here for drinks and dinner for a date night or a night out with friends!

The drinks: Nurungji Crema so good and unusual, I love it. the Misugaru Black Sesame, love it even more. This is cold and the other is hot, so based on the weather I always get one or the other! Breakfast Sandwich with bacon: I actually don't even know why this is so good. Is it the amazing roll, is it the perfect bacon? Melty cheese? It's amazingly great considering it's just an egg bacon and chee. Korean fried chicken wings: had to order them for my daughter who is a wing lover. I didn't plan on even having one. But then I had one. And then i had another. And then my daughter said, stop eating those! They're mine! Olive oil tuna sandwich- Amazing Mantua- This is the sandwich that brought us all in the first place. Husband brough home a half from work and I was so jealous that he gets to order from here for work, we made the trek from WeHo to SL for this sandwich. I have to add, the hot sauce is so great. You have to put it on your breakfast sandwich. I love it so much, that I left the restaurant with my hands full because I was not about to leave those two half full hot sauce cups, or my Nurungji Latte, so I walked to my car *feeling* like i had everything because I WAS carrying things, and managed to leave my purse on my chair. I didn't notice until I was 15 minutes away. Drove the 15 minutes back and couldn't find it, even though my phone pinged it as somewhere around there. The owner Eric, was SO helpful trying to find my purse with my husband. Left the restaurant and walked down a block and across the street talking to people and generally being a badass. They eventually found the purse emptied of most of its valuables except the phone. I couldn't get over how long and hard he worked to help us out. I was already in love with the food and now I feel so endeared to the staff and owner as well. What a fantastic spot. Get the amazing homemade hot sauce, but don't leave your purse on the table.

We got here around 1:00 pm, fortunately just before a large line formed. This place can get really busy! And I understand why - the food is so fantastic here. We ordered the Bodega Chopped Cheese, the Korean Hott Fried Chicken, and some Waffle Fries. While at the cashier we saw in the window display the Black Sesame Chocolate Chip Cookie and we had to try it. We were so hungry - we actually ended up having dessert first! The cookie had the perfect texture, a mix of crunchy and chewy, and the perfect taste - not too sweet and the savory black sesame paired so well with the chocolate chip. The Bodega Chopped Cheese was mouthwatering and the ground Angus beef was succulent and flavorful. The fresh shredded lettuce and tomato brought brightness to the sandwich and balanced the beef and melted American cheese so well. We also ended up trying the chicken wings, which were juicy and delectable! They came with a Yuzu Crema - a top tier sauce. The wings were honestly delicious on their own and didn't need the Yuzu Crema, but that sauce did make the wing even better somehow. It was pretty busy here on a Saturday afternoon so I would like to come back on a random weekday and try more sandwiches. Parking can definitely be a hassle in Silver Lake, but the food at bodega Park is totally worth that hassle!

Fresh air flow inside. You order and pay upfront, food comes out shortly after. Aside from that it's mostly self serve. Weekends get quite busy, but also the most fun times to go. We visited on a Monday around 12pm and they were quite packed for brunch, we didn't dine in but really only stopped by to grab some pastries. Might need to come back to try their food another time. Passion Fruit Pie -really good, if you love tart this would be up your alley. Fresh passion fruit topped helps balance the sweetness of the pie. Almond Croissant (White Chocolate Strawberry Garnish)- seems like their croissant flavor rotates. Wasn't expecting the filling to also be strawberry, would have loved the filling to be almond. Croissant is more of a flaky dense bread texture not buttery fluffy pastry. Not the best I've had. Chocolate Chip Oat Cookie -amazing cookie, love a good oat cookie without raisins. This one did just that, would grab this again if we come back and they have it. Strawberry Rhubarb Hand Pie -seems like a permanent item, saw them prepping a ton more when we were there. My favorite item we got, pastry was fluffy and buttery. Not too sweet, filling was the strawberry preserve and some sort of custard. Seasonal Citrus Vanilla Danish - the citrus was charred with a torch which added too much burnt flavor. Not sure what citrus it was but also too strong and overpowering, slightly bitter as well.

Sometimes the food is a bit salty, but otherwise full of healthy options (10 + kinds of salad and veggie dishes) with decedent choices, too (extra cheesy lasagna). It's a self service restaurant, but also expensive. You set your own table and pour your own water glasses. Dinner for two with beverages is easily $85 or more with tip. There are no refills on drinks like iced tea. The upside of it being self service, is you can hang out as long and chat as long as you like. There is good chance if you do linger that you might order desert or a second small $10 iced tea (with tax and tip). It would be quite easy to spend well over $100 for 2, without table service... If it were a little less expensive, I would be a regular... but if it were less expensive then it would be hard to find a table because that whole neighborhood would be hanging out here.
