Some of the best pizza we have ever had. We travel to Missoula a couple times each year and we had not tried this place until now. Why didn't we try it sooner? It was so good. The menu has a nice selection of pizzas. We tried the thai one and the rancher one. Both were exquisite. The server we had was smiling and very helpful. I usually love this place but was there on Monday with a friend and sadly enough The food was awful! We ordered the cheese pizza and a veggie pizza and lodgepole bread! Was overcooked pizza to where it was so dark that you could not taste the cheese! The veggie one was so sparsely ingredients that it was awful! The food was amazing, I had the chicken caesar wrap as my main meal, It also comes with chips on the side! (photo below) the taste of the wrap was spectacular! The caesar dressing was good, the seasonings on the chicken also tasted great too! I also shared some artichoke dip with my dad and we both enjoyed it! It has a little bit of cheese on the top of it and thick and chunky artichoke pieces! The service is amazing, The lady was checking in on us every once in a while, as well as asking us if we needed more of certain things such as a refill for our drinks or more ranch dressing! The ambiance is nice, the lights are at the perfect setting, not too bright but not too dim either! The music they played is good too! Very disappointing dinner experience. The food was hit or miss and not up to their usual. Wait staff back talked us when we asked for salsa for our chips and then never came back to bring us a check or when we paid. The young manager brought our check out, didn't apologize, didn't offer a discount or act like he was the least bit concerned about what had happened. Ordered the baked chicken Alfredo. It was so dry that I could only eat a couple of bites. I would say, it was made early in the day and sat there, waiting for a customer to order it. By the time I ordered it, it was not only dry on top but also on the bottom. The dish cost about $15. When I told the waitstaff that it was too dry, I got a $2.29 credit. Really? That is absolutely unacceptable. I am returning a dish minus two bites and get $2.29 back from a $15 dish? Staying for a few days in Missoula and our hotel was right next to this pizza place. We purchased the ceasar salads which were really good and the smalls were good size. We also ordered a large half pepperoni half rancher with original crust. The toppings were fantastic and the crust was nice and chewy having some good crunch when you first give into it. But before I could even say "that's ok" the server, Micah informed me they already had a remake order in the oven. So, we ate the one they brought which was still great, but took outer half pizza home along with a fresh, whole pizza at no charge to remedy the order! Above and beyond the call of duty! The manager, Easlen came over to personally apologize for the what we considered to be a non-issue and gave us the boxed up pie. Stopped by again hoping for a better experience than my previous reviewed experience. The place was slammed! 6:30pm Friday evening of Memorial 3 Day weekend. I should've known. The desk was surrounded by waiting people. When we got there we were told at least 30 minutes for a table. That wasn't going to work for us. So we took the take out option as our hotel is literally in the same parking lot. We didn't want Pizza so ordering salads was what we did. The Thai Peanut salad was amazing and too large for me to eat in one sitting. My wife had difficulty getting here large "COBB" salad with Romaine only. She has an extreme allergic reaction to field greens, so I am accustomed to the circus that followed. The person taking the order was very polite and said of course we can make it with Romaine only. But, she went to talk to the chef to confirm it. This is good practice and we appreciated it. The problem is she heard Romaine and assumed "Caesar" not "COBB" so of course she and the chef said yes Romaine only. But she put the order in correctly as a "COBB" and we got a large COBB salad with field greens. As we were walking out with our bag of dinner salads, I told my wife she should check to be sure she got what she ordered or she would not be eating. Yup! A beautiful large COBB with field greens, and back she went. Not long later she had her salad her way. She said, the chef was apologetic and accommodating. The moral of the story being: don't walk into a slammed Pizza Place on the Friday night before a three day weekend and order a custom COBB SALAD. Order PIZZA! read more

When I walked into this fancy pizzarea, I was fully prepared to pay a good chunk for six of us to eat. But that ended up not being the case. Honestly, McDonalds would've cost way more than what I paid here (with tip) for six people! The pizza was great, the ice teas and sodas were great with free refills. The restaurant atmosphere was awesome with comfortable chairs and clean tables.. The service was friendly, fast, attentive and awesome! The pizzas were tasty with fresh ingredients and just awesome as well! I highly recommend the Tikka Masala Pizza. I didn't have any high expectations about it, but ended up really liking it! We came here after trying to decide what we were in the mood for. We saw they had a wide spread of options and most people wanted pizza so we stopped in here. The inside was country and cozy and had a nice assortment of booths and tables. We got seated right away but unfortunately a table after us got helped before us after we had been seated for 10 minutes with no service. Not even waters. We said something and thankfully they gave us one of the dishes for free but that was pretty bad. Three people got pizzas. The pizzas have regular and thin crust options and they have a large selection, as well as the option to pick all your own toppings. Two people got the rancher pizza but one got them without the peppers and onions. Their marinara has a huge slice of tomato under each slide of pizza. I thought this was super weird and I was not expecting it when I took a bite. The regular crust pizza was really good. Other than the tomato, the sauce was delicious, the meat was good quality and was abundant. The dough was good! The two with thin crust also really enjoyed their pizzas! One had the BBQ Chicken and liked it a lot. I had the Cajun bowl with came with rice, shrimp, sausage, and chicken. All of the meat was delicious and of great quality. I really enjoyed the seasoning and the meat, the sausage was really spicy! However..:the rice was hard. They must have not cooked it with enough water or pan seared it when they added in the peppers and onions. I also hated that the rice had onions and celery but was not advertised. There is a delivery and shortage issue of pastas so only their baked pastas were available and non of the regular pasta was available. read more

We came here for dinner and were told it would be about a 5-10 minute wait for a table. The hostess sat us after the 5 minutes. The table we were sat at had the sun coming through the window. It was approximately 7pm and go figure it was the only window on the west side of the restaurant that didn't have shades. All the other tables did. We asked the hostess it was possible to move to a different table. She unpolitely said that we took the last open table and it wasn't possible. You would think she would have said something like "This was the last open table but as soon as someone leaves I would be happy to move you there." My husband pointed out we were at the only table that didn't have shades (you could clearly see they had been there at one time but had been removed as the hardware was still on the window). She couldn't have cared less and we were both irritated at that point. When the waitress comes along she apologized for the long wait and took our drink orders. My husband ordered a water with lemon and he was brought a plain water. No big deal, I get it.....but it's also a simple request and far too many times the mistake happens. She asked if we needed a couple more minutes to look over the menu and we said yes. When she came back to take our order, she waited until we were already ordering to tell us they were out of fries, Bleu cheese and feta cheese. She should have told us that when she first came to the table but didn't. She waited until we were ordering to tell us that. Then she seemed to be irritated when we asked for a couple more minutes to decide on something else. We ended up telling her we would just pay for the drinks we had already been served (two soft drinks) and that we wanted to go somewhere else. She told us we didn't need to pay but never even apologized, not even once for anything. This was an experience that will make it so we never return. Both the waitress and hostess seemed like they were unhappy to be working and it's apparent that customer service is not their top priority. The only positive thing about our experience was that restaurant seemed very clean, but that is not enough to make us go back. read more

For us the McKenzie river signature pizza is the best one that's on their menu we order it every time we go and have always enjoyed. It. Been very satisfied with it and we find the price is good if you haven't tried one before I highly suggest that you do, you will enjoy it. Service is always fantastic. Being plant based makes travel and eating out difficult. When this particular pizza restaurant was recommended because they could sub with vegan cheese, I was excited. I called first to verify the vegan cheese and that their outdoor patio was dog friendly. The response from the girl on the phone was yea to the cheese and yes to being dog friendly. I (me & my dog) took a walk over only to be told on arrival that the outdoor patio was not open. While disappointed, I still ordered to go and would just eat elsewhere. I was directed to a counter to order and the bubble gum chewing bobble head of a teenager seemed to struggle with the simplicity of the order-no dairy on any item due to allergies. Once the order was paid for, she told me (through constant open mouthed gum chewing), that the order would be ready in 30 minutes. That seemed fine, but 30 turned in to 45 and when the order was picked up, the one salad was smothered in cheese. Luckily there was someone else in my party who was no allergic, so it did not go to waste. The veggie pizza with vegan cheese was tasty with a perfect crust and according to my travel partner the salad was also good. The place was packed on a Friday evening, so they appear to do good business. Perhaps once their teenage heavy staff is better trained it will be a better stop for non-meat, non-dairy diners. read more

MRP is a local go to restaurant for my family. I really don't understand why the average rating is so low. They have a great menu featuring pizzas, bowls, gluten free pizza, etc. We have never had a poor meal there. On the contrary, it is always delicious. It is not cheap but is appropriately priced for the quality. Give it a go, especially if you are driving past Missoula and want to eat at a quality restaurant very close to I-90. read more

First off, THANK YOU for bringing back The Madison. It's our favorite and we are so glad it's back on the menu. The servers are young but good. I love MacKenzie River, have to hit it up every time I'm back in Montana. This location is huge! Plenty of seating, I've rarely had to wait for a table here. Fun Montana style fly fisherman decor. Service is friendly. Location is clean. Favorite entrees are the Smokin' Turkey Sandwich, Greek Salad, and the Thai Pie! All so tasty. Pesto lodge poles are also delicious as an appetizer. Their house salad with pears and the grape nut crunches is also a great addition to any meal. Can't wait for them to get some Arizona locations! ;) read more

I could only eat a few bites, before I tossed it in the trash, where this dish belonged. I've had much better sauce out of a jar. They also forgot to give me the ranch dressing for my salad. They were busy when we arrived around 6:15 pm but we were seated quickly. Our server was friendly, dining area seemed clean but the food took a while to arrive. It was 7:10 pm when our food showed up. I had a small regular crust Rancher, my wife had Pear and Blue along with a wedge salad. Food was great, server was ok. Our server asked, as she walked quickly by, if our first bite or two was good, didn't even stop. Same when it was refill time. I had asked for a drink refill, it was brought back to me completely full of ice and even though the glass was full, there was hardly any soda. As we were almost finished and my soda glass was mostly just ice, I specifically asked our server to dump the ice and fill the glass half way with soda. She returned it with half ice and almost full soda. They only have aspartame laced sweeteners and plain sugar for my wife's raspberry tea, which does not dissolve very well or at all in cold liquid and aspartame is poison, IMO. Our server left our bill at the far end of our table so I nearly had to stand to reach it, almost the same for our take home box. I know things happen when restaurants are busy but you still need to listen to the customer and pay attention to where you place things on the table so the customers can reach them. On a different note, they keep full pitchers of ice water on top of the short dividing walls which is directly above where people sit. If anyone, guest or employee, gets to close to one it will end up making someone very angry. As an occasional patron of other MacKenzie River locations I was a bit taken aback when this location had sub standard service, although I did kind of expect it based on other yelp reviews, I had hoped they fixed that. read more
