I usually absolutely love Panera Bread. That being said, this was my first time visiting the Salisbury location on Innes Street, Salisbury, NC. I started out going through the drive-through, but there was no response (after the initial recorded greeting) so I realized quickly I needed to go inside if I wanted to order. There was no one in line, and the young lady behind the counter was friendly. I ordered the 1/2 ciabatta French Dip with the Autumn Squash Soup. The soup was delicious. ... although they did not add the pumpkin seeds on top, as promised. The sandwich, not so much. Grizzly. Dry-ish. I ended up tossing it. The French "dip" looked/tasted like yesterday's leftover French Onion Soup. The seating area was gross/filthy. (See photo) Looks like the tables had been wiped off, and the floor (possibly) had been vacuumed recently, but the restaurant itself is def NOT what I would call clean. My last visit to Panera was a bit disappointing. Ordered a bacon egg sandwich, and instead of bacon slices I received bacon, bits and crumbles. Considering the cost, it was a letdown. The location itself is clean stuff friendly. But not sure if I go back because of that there are other places that do sandwiches so much better. read more

Horrible Service! I've came here a few weeks ago and literally waited 15 minutes to get an order but I had somewhere to be and I just left. Poor customer service, not sure why it's so slow but it's extremely slow and there's nobody ever inside or in the drive thru. Waited at counter to order for multiple minutes before having to go ask for assistance. Then upon receiving my order and realizing how unsweet the tea is, the lady I asked about it had her boss explain in front of their regional manager that "that's just how our tea is" while employees chuckled behind him. Great customer service guys! And to top it off, my entire dining experience was tormented by the staff having and obnoxiously great time in the back being loud and over talking all of the customers in the dining room representing immaturity and the lack of professionalism instead of representing the business they operate. First time dining at this location. I don't plan to return. I arrived about 7 pm and the parking lot was nearly empty. This is usually telling but I gave it a shot anyway. They had no salad options. I went with the Autumn Squash soup and a water. The water wasn't available at the fountain drink station but had to be passed to the employee over the counter to get water from the back. There was a huge puddle of water in front of the fountain station and while there was a sign, it didn't appear there was much effort put into cleaning it up. The food came with small, plastic spoons with no apologies for not having proper spoons. The employees are not very pleasant and seem unmotivated. The bathroom and dining area could've used some attention as well as they weren't the cleanest. I can understand if they were busy and the place was dirty, but it was empty and there was no effort to clean the place. I saw at least 3 employees there during my visit. The ONLY highlight was the delicious soup and baguette. I happen to LOVE Autumn specialties hence the 2 stars. Although, they are probably more deserving of one. read more

This is the dirtiest Panera I have ever been in. I eat at them at least 2 time a week. This is my 2 nd stop here on my way to Ga and the first time there was a man sitting with a drink at a table with his head down who look like a worker with paint and they went over and kicked him out. There was NO one in the store but like 3 people. He was not hurting anyone. Just not called for. The girl at the register was nice. Her name way Joy. After I paid for the order the people that made it said "we are out of Cesar dressing is there another dressing you want??? Really. Give me a Greek salad. You see how it came and it was a whole. I've ordered from here a few times, usually using the drive through, but sometimes using the Panera app for delivery. (Using their app you gain rewards and can make customizations to your order.) On many occasions I've been told they don't have certain bakery items or breads, even though it's not even noon. Once I ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup and it wasn't completely full and mostly broth. The soup should have been put in a cup size and charged me accordingly. I'm also confused on the whole vs half sandwich size. Sometimes when I order a whole sandwich I end up getting 4 slices of bread, the equivalent of two whole sandwiches, and other times I get one whole sandwich. When I get a half sandwich I'll get the equivalent of a whole sandwich and other times I'll get a sandwich made with one slice of bread cut in half. Consistency here with sandwich sizes needs to be addressed. (I have this problem at other locations too.) The reason for the one star is the constant inconsistency with item sizes, item availability at early time of day, and the lack of response from managers or Panera corporate when I make my issues known. read more

Disgusting Food and Horrendous Restaurant I hope Panera sees how abominable the state of this establishment is. In a location located not far away from a major interstate, you would think they would try to have higher standards. The staff was rude and conveniently unavailable. The food, other than the bread, was horrendous. The avocado on my chipotle sandwich wasn't even mashed. It was an entire avocado just in my sandwich. And just look at the state of their restaurant! It was filthy and disastrously vandalized. Panera used to be a quick place to snag a quality meal. For the price of the food which is priced you'd expect at a steakhouse they should be bring the food to you . The menu makes no since . We got a lemonade a smoothie and two half sandwich's one with half soup the other with half salad and it was $40 which is insane and then they expect you to tip ??? Their manager is flippant and unapologetic leading to a crew that functions on apathy and disgruntlement. My soup had so much water added that it was inedible...colored water, at best. My Turkey, avocado, BLT lacked tomato. The cinnamon cruch latte was not drinkable and had a 0.5 inch of cinnamon at the bottom which is why it was so bitter and sandy. How the F#$@k do these places stay open?!?!? 7:48am. Not 5am! Not 10am! Right in the middle of breakfast and they still can't seem to have TWO bacon and spinach souffles. And this is an endemic problem with Panera as a franchise. They have a home run product and time and time again I am disappointed. Regardless of the time of the morning, they just can't deliver. It's their McFlurry. So back to this particular location. They have ONE bacon and spinach and a spinach and artichoke. I asked if bacon could be added to the artichoke one and was told no while I have been to other locations that have as a consolation to not having my first choice. I am handed my order and drive off. I pull over in the parking lot and discover that they were not put in a box but rather the potentially dirty bottom of one stacked directly on top of the surface of the other. THEN as I cut into my artichoke souffle, liquid runny egg pours out. They can't even seem to cook the freaking thing!!! We turn around, go in and get a refund. This review is more about attention to detail. This morning my wife and visited this location ordered coffee and pastries which were good. However, when my wife used the ladies room the paper towel dispenser was empty at 9:30 am. Come on that tells me you did not pay attention to opening or closing details. Seriously this Panera was dirty, my shoes stuck to the floors, no one at the register, I waited still no one so I asked the 3 girls behind the counter who were preparing food. At first the just looked at me, didn't acknowledge me. I asked a second time and one of them came around. There was 2 other girls, 1 in the dining area and 1 in the ladies room, plus I saw a young man in the kitchen. So you can't blame the poor service and filthy surroundings on no or short on employees. My sandwich was thrown together, seriously a mess. I really shouldn't have just left. We always stop at Panera when traveling and count on a clean restaurant and exceptional food. Since I used to be a manager at a fast food restaurant for 5 years I must say Yeah this Salisbury location needs a big reset. From 2021-2022 I would come to this location to get some work done so I've been inside for more than 3 hours and I have noticed the staff is too young they don't clean they stay on their phone the bathrooms smells like a subway in New York City. The tables and chairs are ALWAYS dirty. The floor near the drink station is always sticky they don't clean the drink machines it's unsanitary. The staff is just horrible! The managers are just as bad. And the food could be better I can tell that the staff is only there to get a check. Corporate needs to do a pop up at this location and have everyone fired get new staff ASAP!!! read more

This Panera Bread was utterly disgusting. I think because it is close to the highway it's convenient for others. The level of uncleanliness blows my mind. It almost seems as if they need to be shut down. When we walked in and mostly all of the tables were dirty and the dining room had not been maintained. We went to the restroom and it was so disgusting. Im kind of concerned because there wasn't any soap and the bathroom was gross it definitely wasn't up to health code standards. We placed an online order for dine in, and when our food was ready we stated that we wanted our food for dine in. They said that they didn't have a dishwasher so we received our food in togo containers. When going back up to the counter to ask for things there was nobody around. I understand that a business is short staffed but try to accommodate for your guests or have a sign posted stating the issue. Needless to say the food was meh and the customer services was okay.
