So, we decided to give Panera Bread another chance. One, because we were right in the area at the oh-so-best Target. Two, we were hungry and since it was hot, wanted something light and tasty. Panera Bread it was. Maybe it was the day we went in last time, but the first time we tried this place nothing really popped out to me from the menu. Our most recent visit was opposite. Several different items popped out at me that I couldn't choose fast enough. Finally, I decided on the new! BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad & the BF decided on the Napa Valley Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich. As soon as we sat down, our pager was a-buzzin'. :D Quick-style with the food prep! Nice job guys! One star for that. My salad was good and plentiful. I liked the bbq sauce on the chicken, but something was missing within the salad. Bacon, perhaps? Idk. It was good, but not delicious. The chicken pieces were big in size but small in quantity. I guess the size..of the chicken pieces..makes up for that lack of quantity ;). I'm not a glutton, but I'd like to get my money's worth. Thanks. The BF's Napa Valley blah blah blah sandwich was good, but small too. Even with the chips, he was still hungry afterwards. The sandwich and the chips were more of a snack for him than a dinner meal. He liked the crunch of the almonds in every bite. Enjoyable. Overall, our perception of this place has been changed. The food was not superrrrr delicious, but it was good. I like the fact that their salads are not dinky, where you feel like you're not really eating anything. Bottom line: our perception of Panera Bread has changed so much that we will be back. Hopefully their sandwiches get bigger in time. Maybe after the recession? Lol. read more

I'm a frequent visitor to this location and the one in Fremont. The customer service is the best I've seen in a bakery store. The people are always friendly and joking with the customers. The attendants always keep the place clean and the food comes out super quick. The food quality is excellent. I especially love the summer corn soup and the salads. There isn't much quantity, but the food is just enough to fill you up for breakfast or lunch. The best thing about this place is the free WiFi available and the environment they create for business clients and students. I often see meetings being held here, guys in suits working on their laptops and students studying. Its a great place to work and study while grabbing a bit to eat. With options of sandwiches, soup/salads, and baked goods like their "Muffies," (mmm...buttery goodness), this is a good alternative to your local coffee house for working on your laptop. The music is pretty cheesy, but it makes me laugh. Me and friend were thinking...."ummm..yesss...that is TLC's Waterfalls, elevator music status." The variety of spaces is cool, you don't have to hear the coffee grinder as much depending where you sit and work. Even on a hot day, the a.c. was a bit arctic, so bring a light sweater if you plan to stay long. I feel bad for the people that come here strictly for the food. What's Good: nice large location, friendly service, and friendly customers that go here too. ample parking and great location with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. :) What's Eh: can't say for sure, but maybe if the apples could come in slices instead of a whole one.. maybe that's just me being lazy though. LOL. but i'm more inclined to finish a "whole" apple if it was in slices, so i felt bad that i threw away about 40% of the apple cuz i couldn't eat it all in one sitting with my friends. All Panera's are the same to me. Toasted Asiago bagel, garden vegetable cream cheese, and a mocha are my usuals. Although, I do deviate on occasion and splurge on spinach artichoke or four cheese souffle and sometimes a chocolate croissant too. Can't go wrong with buttery, flaky, pastries. : ) p.s. I love Panera. They have excellent selection for both breakfast and lunch (never tried dinner, so wouldn't know). Great selection of pastry; I especially love those breakfast souffles. Good salads selection for the low calories lunch. The one thing I don't like about that is the false advertisement of free wi-fi. You get free 30 minutes of wi-fi, after which they tell you that to allow all customers to enjoy connection you only get 30 minutes worth. read more

Sitting here right now on a Monday morning at 9:25am. Some updates to make based on other reviews I've read of this spot. - They open at 6am on weekdays now, not 7am. - The wi-fi is only limited to 30 minutes during peak hours (11-2pm, I think). Otherwise, you're free to browse/study/email as much as you want. - The dine-in, free refills coffee is now $2.09. I actually really enjoy coming here when it's quiet to study -- but as it gets pretty busy during lunchtime -- it gets too loud to concentrate, and I end up getting distracted. Thus, my plan for today -- get in a few hours of study early and leave at lunch! For actual review of the food, I normally get their steak and blue cheese chopped salad. I think it's great -- and, no, it doesn't come with a drink, but this isn't McDonalds or Subway, so I don't think the combo deal is to be expected. Time to get my study on! read more

The staff here is really friendly and my food has been consistent with just a few min delivery time. My favorite food here definitely has to the Frontega chicken Panini and the Sierra turkey sandwich. I always add avocado to make any normal sandwich taste yummy! read more

I love everything about this shopping center. There are quite a few good restaurants to choose from and stores to shop (World Market, Targét, Marshalls). Panera has always been our meeting spot and the place can get really busy especially on Sunday during lunch hour. Panera is next door to Wingstop and BJ's. There are plenty of parking space. So, I was craving a grilled cheese sandwich because I haven't had one in a while. Anyways I ordered a sandwich with potato chips and ice green tea. I enjoyed the tea a lot because it wasn't too sweet. The total came out to be around $10 which was a little pricey. Good location, average food, so far good customer service!!! read more

The first time I went to Panera I thought, "OMG these sandwiches are good!" The 2nd time I went there, I thought my meal wasn't worth the money. If you are looking for corporate food, this place isn't bad at all. It's on the same scale as a TOGOs or Erik's Delicafe or Noahs Bagel. The newness of Panera has worn off since it was brand new about a year ago. I do have to say that the Cinanamon Crunch bagels are excellent. If you have not had them, then try them!!! Hmm. I like coming here, but I don't like what it costs. And for what I am paying (subsidizing the wifi I never use, but always intended to?), I should be able to order a panini WITHOUT tomatoes . . . but no, they're pre-made (by WHOM? WHERE? WHEN?), so no dice. I should also be able to get what I ordered and not find out that at 1:00 P.M. on a weekday, a sandwich joint is out of roast beef. The one time I got an apple, I gave it away to a friend who works nearby to give to her bugs or worms or something (she works with nature). It was kinda icky and very small. I do like the broccoli cheese soup with a half sandwich, and they make that to order. I like that they have Dr. Pepper. The service is generally good and they seem eager to please. The weekday lunch crowd loves this place and the line is many times literally out the door, but it moves quickly. It can also be difficult to find a place to sit, if you plan on dining in. But what a variety of menu options! Sandwiches, soups, salads, paninis, quiche, freshly baked loaves of bread, and a good assortment of sweets and bakery goods! The Bacon Turkey Bravo - delish! The Smokehouse Turkey Panini - yum! And the Caramel Pecan Brownie - scrumptious! *salivating as I type this* Although, I have to say, I am not crazy about their 3 side options: a hard baguette, flavorless chips or a small apple. Blah. You know what you're getting from Panera, decent sandwich, soup and bread selection. The coffee drinks are just OK. In all honesty, I really couldn't tell the difference between the fare here and at Erik's and Le Boulangreerrr. So why the 4th star? the star that elevates a location above the hum-drum? Easy, the combination of free Wi-Fi with a space you'd actually want to use free Wi-Fi in. What Panera does much better than other sandwich chains is interior decorate. More specifically this chain seems to always have an interesting and fun selection of booths and tables. Large booths, small booths, long tables, square table, the elusive corner booth, it's all here. It's like Discovery Zone for the student/work@home set. The only reason they didn't get the 5th star was because they TEMPORARILY took away my tomato soup.. you do not mess with my tomato soup.. My favorite place to study and not feel guilty about stealing wifi from neighboring business or residents, cause guess what? it's free! Great for group meetings or flying solo, just make sure you keep an eye out for open outlets, they hide those things all over the place! My healthy cafe option.. since eating too many pastries at Starbucks will pack on the lbs equivalent to your GPA (in one week). Whenever I get a craving for salad, I make my boyfriend take me to Panera. I tried their season promotion Strawberry and Poppyseed salad and it is deeeeeelish! The pineapples, the strawberries, mandarin oranges, blueberries, and walnuts go so great together with their chicken slices. YUUUUM! The pineapple does it tho. I tried a bite of my bf's bear claw and it was air-y, if that's the word. No so much flaky, but in the most complimentary way possible. I'm never dissatisfied whenever I go in there. This is a good place to grab lunch. The 1/2 and 1/2 combo is nice, choosing 2 items from a cup of soup, half salad, or half sandwich. Today I had French Onion soup and Strawberry Poppyseed salad. The soup was ok. A bit too salty for my taste, but the cheese was good. I did NOT like the poppyseed dressing. There's a salad and panini place in San Diego called Croutons and their poppyseed vinaigrette is beyond amazing. Theirs is more tangy and Panera's is sweet. While I wasn't super impressed with my choices today, I'll definitely come back to try other things on their menu. Went there a few weeks back and forgot to write about how insanely rude the manager was. I was on my way to the airport and decided to grab a bite. I ordered a bagel, then roughly 1.5 minutes later decided a parfait would be easier since I had to get going. I went immediately to the front and asked to change my order. I said I am so sorry but can I actually switch to a parfait, I'll of course pay the difference or whatever works The manager gave me MAJOR attitude saying "it's almost done already....." waiting for a long awkward pause as if that would change my mind? I said oh I'm sorry, is there any way to change it. He said "its fine" & turned his back to me. I walked back to my table having no idea if that meant I was getting a bagel or a parfait. I love love love Panera. I used to go all the time in San Diego and was thrilled beyond belief when I stumbled upon this location by accident. I always get a You Pick Two at Panera. Many restaurants will only allow you to choose certain salads and sandwiches for a combo, but not Panera. Any of their delicious salads or sandwiches can be chosen. I usually get the Greek salad for my salad (the dressing is divine), but I try to mix it up with the sandwiches (I prefer to pick from the hot panini menu). The best part about the meal is the piece of baguette you get on the side. Hands down some of the best bread I've ever had. Apples or chips? No thank you, bread for me! One day I must try their desserts because they look delicious, but I'm always so full by the end of my meal. read more

I just had a wisdom tooth pulled, and after several hours of pain and hunger, I decided it was time to eat. I knew that Panera bread served soup, so I decided to check them out. The guy at the counter was pretty cool and my order was up pretty quickly. I had a bread bowl filled with broccoli Cheddar soup and a side of Yogurt, one of the kind in a tube for kids. The soup was pretty good, but I think there could have been more. I went to get some tea from the sweetened iced tea dispenser, but it was unsweetened and that kind of sucked. I was craving sweet tea, I almost went next door to Wing stop for some, but I just drank the unsweetened with a few sugar packets anyways. Since I was in pain and on Vicodin, I was happy to find something soft to eat there, so it was decent for that matter. I wish they would have a larger size soup available. It seems they have a cup, a bread bowl, which is the same amount as a cup, and a giant family sized one. I am going to have to come back some time and try a sandwich to get a better review of the place, but right now I am not totally tempted to return anytime soon. read more

When I was younger I used to love Panera. Now I think of it as a quick-last-minute-choice to eat at. I came here for a business lunch the other day. Went with the Fuji Apple Chicken Salad. I used to get this ALL the time. I think it was made much better before than it is made now. Before they used real bits of apple pieces. Now they use dried apples.... I mean it is still good, but the salad looks so shriveled! The chicken is pretty dry too. The salad still maintains a decent taste because of their dressing. The portion is a good weight watching amount so you don't feel like you are overeating. The service here is kind and friendly. Oh and quick too! read more

Star is for the bread only and french onion soup only. Pick 2 out of 3 (soup, sammie or salid is a good idea); lots of patrons chose this as I did. The best about the onion soup was that the bread remained chewy. The sammie was the bummer. Had the Asiago Roast beef. After I took out the 2 honken big pieces of whatever leatuce very little was left -- a little beef, 2 half slivers of tomatos, 2 thin half rings of onion and every once in a while a taste of the horseradish sauce; but the real UNcrowning glory was the american cheese . Whoever heard of american cheese with roast beef on a cold sammie. In fact , I didn't like any of the sammie pairings they had on the menu. Went to this place once simply because of a mailer they had sent me with some coupons. This is not my normal modus operandi but what the hell. What I got was a decent brocolli-cheese soup and a half sandwich. The half sandwich must have had less than one ounce of meat in it and was 85% bread. I like bread but this was ridiculous, I was looking around for the Candid Camera host. It is more expensive than say Togos and not nearly as good. This place is a decent hangout... good atmosphere... free wi-fi... fairly good service. When I used to frequent this place, the staff started to recognize me and we all became sorta friends. Food-wise, its pretty good. If you come in the mornings, the baked egg souffles are awesome (the stuff gets sold out by 11am). My favorite sandwich is frontega chicken... hella good. They used to have something called pepperblue steak which was excellent, but they took it off the menu (never knew why). They also have pretty good soup... I would recommend chicken & wild rice, baked potato, and broccoli cheddar. Good place to chill if you like to surf online at a cafe with free-flow coffee. My advice though is bring a jacket cos the A/C is pretty cold in there. Also, they always have some elevator music playing from the speakers, which can get annoying, so bring your ipod or mp3 player in case it gets intolerable for your ears. I volunteer at the airport and stop by the bakery for take-out orders. while there yesterday I asked what my rewards status was, none except 5.00 off for online order, ok didn't know how to do it from my smartphone the clerk was kind enough to offer help by installing it, took a long time to load, and a customer line formed manager took over was very patient and helpful and succeded after a few tries. I don't usually leave one star but I felt like I needed to. I came in to eat and the cashier was very nice but after that it went downhill. I've always had the impression that the flavored waters they provided were complimentary but I was Incorrect. I felt embarrassed and bad when one worker informed me and while I understand they were only doing their job I didn't see any reason why they needed to out me in front of everyone. I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable after. It continued even after I sat down, the Manager Michael felt the need to come to my table and announce again my misunderstanding and in a rude tone. It left me with a bad memory and caused me not to enjoy my food. I hope they can work on their hospitality and understanding. TL;DR -- Clean, well-lit, well-decorated space, and portions so small you feel that you got tricked into eating here. As soon as I saw it plated, I regretted my order: chili in a bread bowl (the largest and priciest soup choice) smaller than my fist that was 70% bread and 30% soup. The best part, every entree at Panera comes with a free side of "more bread." UPDATE: Down from 2 starts to 1, as the chili begins to wreak havoc on my insides. read more
