This will review will cover 2 parts the food and then everything else. When it comes to the food it's not bad, better than your run of the mill sandwich place like subway and all those other crappy places. But the food is pretty pricey for the portions you get, I spent over 8 bucks and I was still hungry and I don't eat that much so value for the money is not their. It was tasty and fresh though. What I didn't like was the customer service, these people are all over the place one day it's fine and the next they are scatter brained. I know because I frequent this place a lot because all my friends and I meet up here every other week. Usually I grab a coffee or some kind of drink, but the one time I actually ate their I said never again for what they charge. I ordered a simple sandwich and asked for no sauce on it how hard is that, they gave me some bs that it's pre-made and will take 15 minutes extra to make one. At first they didn't even want to to do that told me take it as is. After I complained they mysteriously could make one no sauce. How can it be already made when you have to toast it too? Pre-made I don't think people are going to like that, especially if you don't advertise that on the menu. Then their register and ordering system sucks. One is for this and one is for that. One person gives you drinks only, and one for the food. So confusing. You do get free wi-fi, and it's very clean and quiet inside, plus you can hangout without them bothering you. Number of people: 1 When I want to eat alone, I usually go to places where crowds seldom go. I like places that are laid back with some jazz or slow music playing in the background. So last week when i went to Panera Bread, that's what I got. When I went there today, it was packed to capacity. And more people were queuing up. Sure It took less than 5 minutes to order my sandwich , soup and side and have it in my hands, but it took me around 15 minutes to find a seat. I mean I know its a popular joint for the slightly 'well to do' crowd, but this was ridiculous. I was sure I would have to wrestle someone for a seat or maybe even share a table (shudder). The food is comparable to other food places, which somehow happen to sell it for less. But I guess here you pay for the ambiance as well as the food. I would recommend the french onion soup though, it was thick creamy and cheesy, very close to what I like in soups. I will say this though, the service is good, the staff is friendly and make you feel comfortable. The only gripe I have is with the manager (or at least I assume he was one), when he murdered my name trying to call me to get my order, while I was picking up my order. A real facepalm worthy moment I know my name's a tad hard to pronounce, and I do accept it when it sounds similar, but his version sounded no where near my original name. I came here twice. The first time I came just after the dinner rush and it was pretty dead. The whole crew was rude though. Wow. It takes a lot to piss off a whole crew. The food I received was thrown together quite literally. The whole top half was smashed in and falling off. I originally took it to go, but my companion decided to eat in last minute. So the short walk from counter to table... don't tell me the sandwich magically ended up like that, but I digress. I figured that the night crew must have just been terrible, but it doesn't mean the location is bad, so I went back another day for lunch. Holy wow! PACKED! Out the door non-stop crazy goodness! The service was absolutely terrific despite the hectic scene. The food was ok. It was an all around great experience. I was kinda caught off guard. My conclusion: Panera's saving grace is the day crew. Night needs an attitude adjustment. Food is good. I have had better. The atmosphere is the draw. It's a warm laid back coffee house kinda feel. You can't find that kind of cafe comfort just anywhere- plus, it's spacious. Definitely a great place to hang out, but not forever. :P read more

My friend and I come here and eat at least twice a week for our lunch meet. I love their panini selections, it taste delicious. And their pastries are yummy for my tummy (^_^)!. However, I gave it a 4 stars coz their prices are a little higher and it doesn't even include drinks for each menu just chips or apple. The area is nice and clean inside and out. Easy parking. After I placed my order I noticed a man not wearing his mask, the mask was down by his neck. He was standing behind the counter with all the food without wearing a mask. When I questioned him, he said "we don't have to wear a mask". Everyone in this store had their mask on, except this guy with an attitude. I reminded him he was walking around the food area, but he thought he was above everyone else and could do what he wanted. Not a way to work in the food industry especially now. This is a cool Panera. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Seems like this place is always crowded at all hours. I like their free wifi but they only allow you a half-hour during peaks hours (11:30am-1pm I think). Not sure that I understand the logic of this. I really enjoy their beverages (soft drinks, tea, coffee). You can help yourself and unlimited refills. Their food is good, probably not great. Like their bagels. You can get some decent soup or a sandwich. Some of the food items seem a little bit pricey however if you use your Rewards card you usually get some free items in return. I've given Panera so many tries, and this goes for any location... and in my opinion I just don't think it is a good value for what they provide. You can't see their menu prices on their website unless you go to order online, but their sandwiches vary from $6.99 to $9.79 before tax. The only sandwich that I like is the Napa Almond Chicken Salad sandwich and that is $7.79 or around $8.45 after tax for a small sandwich. Maybe it's just me, but for $8.45 their sandwiches just don't taste that great. I always reference to Tasty Subs and Pizza, who only charge $5.99 for their sandwiches and theirs are much bigger and taste so much better with your choice of any kind of fresh baked bread that you want(their fresh sourdough or whole wheat is amazing). Another comparison would be to California Sourdough or Freshly Baked Eatery, they charge around $8 flat after tax and their sandwiches absolutely blow away Panera. Ask anybody! I understand that Panera is trying to sell healthy sandwiches, but I think they can add some flavor for the price... Also, Panera salads are another over priced item. Their Thai Chicken salad is $8.99 or about $10 after tax. For $10 I'd expect a damn good tasty salad with plenty of veggies or something, but nope it tastes really bland and it is super small. If the regular size salad is almost $10, the half salad must be absolutely tiny! I will give them a star for their bagels however. I've ordered the bakers dozen for my office before and Panera does have a good selection of bagels as well as spreads. I normally go to Noah's for bagels, but Panera proves to be on par in that regard. read more

free wifi and semi healthy food at a moderate price. it's a perfect place to for students. i've met here once for study group. don't be surprised to see half the restaurant taken up by students working on projects in here. the food is fresh and tasty. i got a turkey with bacon sandwich, kathy got a bread bowl with clam chowder and a roast beef asiago sandwich and 1/2 salad. the food is prepared really fast too, i didn't even need the buzzer they gave me. i found seat, got some water and it started ringing. everytime i eat here i'm reminded that i suck at picking stocks (the group project that i worked on while here the first time). if you got in early, i hope all you ppl that own VMW (VMWare) or PTR (Petro China) got rich. Quite a few people have told me about Panera bread. The absolutely love it. When I have good recommendations, why not try it? Well, sometimes people are stupid. Food: Painfully awful. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't believe they make a sandwich with such poor flavor. My sandwich's flavor (cuban chicken panini) was masked by the sauce that's as strong as horse radish. I scrapped that off and took another bite. The meat and chese were awful. My mother taught me to always finish my food, but it really was so bad that I couldn't. I just finished the side of chowder and bread. I think they microwaved my sandwich from frozen because it honestly couldn't have been that bad if it was made with care. My second time I had a simple Mediterranean veggie and some greek salad. The salad was ok, but I was disappointed in the sandwich. When I went to pick it up they told me they ran out of bread and I had to choose an alternative. The offered some honey wheat and I said ok. They could have offered to throw in something extra for the trouble, but I chose not to press it. In the end, that sandwich also lacked flavor. It was then I decided not to come again. Environment: You ever hate walking through the city because so many bums hit you up for change, or can't take a break because they take all the good spaces for themselves? Well, this place feels like that, except they're assholes with laptops. All three fucking times I went to panera break, more than half the chairs were taken and these pricks were talking too loud. I honestly thought these people were smart for a while. But when I realized one table was dressed in pajamas, talking loudly, doing elementary middle school algebra and they all looked college age, I knew these people were useless. To add to my annoyance, one person was playing music loudly, and another was having a loud virtual meeting. Please shoot me. Cashier: Cashier was ok, but didn't know the menu well. Often I don't think about it, but it stood out here because she told me "let me know if you have any questions". Well, I did have a few, and she could only answer one - "how much does this cost?". I had a question about the bread softness, and which item came out of the bakery recently. Cook/Preparer: I can not understand them saying my name. It's very hard to fuck up my simple name, but they did it twice. I'm glad they gave us those shitty beepers, otherwise I would have never known my food was ready. If I need to make a lunch run to Target and I need to have something quick to bring back to the office, this is usually my pick. I always get the sandwich and salad combo and my favorites as of late are the Turkey Bravo sandwich (love the sun-dried tomato bread) and the Asian Chicken salad. I find that a lot of the soups are too salty. I used to go here a lot more often to get one of their special breakfast quiche tarts, but after looking into their nutritional information I've refrained from going there. I mean I knew that those things weren't good for you, but reading overall how unhealthy a lot of the things on the menu are here, I've cut back from going here in general. Still, in a pinch this is a good place, just keep in mind that while there are veggies and stuff, it may not be much better for you than Mickey D's. read more

I've never really been a fan of Panera. But that's before I became obsessed with salads (their sandwiches are meh). My coworkers and I frequent this location when we're in a salad + soup aka eating healthy mood. It's best to come here before 12 PM because it gets packed! We always use the self-order kiosk, which is super convenient! My go-to is the pick 2 option with BBQ chicken salad (minus the BBQ dressing, add Caesar) and the vegetable soup. Add Tabasco to both (using the packets near the soda machine) and you're all set to go for a yummy meal! The customer service here is great as well! read more

This place has gone down hill. I am from St Louis originally where this company came from originally. From its origin to today, the company is almost unrecognizable. The customer service today was absolutely deplorable. I usually do not say that (read my other reviews), but there was only one person who was outwardly friendly and helpful. Everyone else was not helpful, short with us, and when we asked for something they did not apologize or say anything except: "ok". One girl even rolled her eyes when I told her the bagel was not warm/toasted. The food was a hit/miss too. The soup tastes mass produced when it used to taste homemade. The bagel was better and less dense though! That's a plus. The management of this restaurant needs to greatly pick things up and focus on customer service, even when busy! This place gets pretty busy during lunch but overall this place is clean and has good wi-fi capabilities. I also like how there are outlets to plug in my laptop right at the booths. My favorite things to eat are the bagels (french toast, chocolate chip, blueberry), plain cream cheese (veggie is gross), chocolate croissant, smokehouse turkey sandwich, and french onion soup (sometimes it's a little salty). Most of these dishes are paired nicely with their iced chai lattes! Yum! But if you decide to get coffee or tea you can get refills yourself without have to wait in an annoying line. The ice machine has gunk all around the tray at the bottom, the seats in the booths are all torn up, the iced tea cylinders are really dirty, and the men's room looked like a roadside gas station. I come here every now and again for breakfast and lunch. The food is good but the service can be very hit-or-miss. Sometimes the staff will forget the order or give you the wrong order or even overcharge on items. That's my biggest complaint about Panera Bread. They're never open on time usually at least five minutes later. Today when I'm here just to buy a pastry she helps a customer and tells me to wait for a few minutes. I enjoy going to this place with my family. Food is tasty and good customer service. We have been going for over a year, and I would like to say a big Thanks again to an employee name Bertha who provides great customer service and is very friendly. She always greet us with a smile when she sees us. There has been a few mistakes on our orders and she offers to help us get our order right and gives us an apology; even though she doesn't work as a cashier. We have been to other Panera places but their service is nothing compared to the one on Coleman in San Jose. It is very spacious and clean. Mmmmm, my favorite place for lunch and for working/eating outside work. Free wifi unlike the Starbucks across the shopping complex (what kind of coffee shop charges for internet??!! It's an outrage...) I've eaten here a lot, their apple chicken salad, the french onion soup with a wheat baguette is my current favorite, although I've had the salmon salad, the turkey chili, and some of the sandwiches, which are all also excellent.
