Would order from here again. Pretty easy to order via DoorDash. My SO got me tofu, vegan ranch with some other stuff. The sweet potato was yummy! Added to my list for when I am hungry and don't want my usual places.

I found moonbowls on Uber Eats and the bowls turned out to be pretty good! They operate out of a ghost kitchen, so takeout or delivery is your best option. Their Korean-inspired bowls are flavorful and delicious! I ordered the BBQ Chicken Bowl and enjoyed it. The bowls are customizable, they have a couple of protein offerings and you choose the base, 3 free sides, and the sauce after. It's a great option to get a bit of everything in your diet and if you're lazy or short on time to whip up a meal.

I have been eating moonbowls since they came to ruff road. I've seen the quality degrade immensely. I decided to give them another try as they sent me a coupon. Never again. First off, the menu consist of fried chicken and fake meats only. Ordered the chili chicken crunch bowl. Of all the years I've been ordering here, this is the most disappointing entree I've ever gotten. DRY- that is the summary for everything. Dry rice, dry chicken, dry pineapple (how is that even possible?). The kale salad side has been significantly reduced in size. This bowl is so bland I can't even finish it. Ending with, I'm really disappointed because moonbowls was my go to when they first came out. Super sad to see a business flounder like this.

This is a cloud kitchen for quick take out bowls. Not sure how healthy this place is, but I was looking for a healthier option and decided to try this place. I ordered the steak bowl with jasmine rice, roasted broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes and cucumber salad and a grilled bbq chicken side to share. The food was more on the bland side, and much of the flavor came from the sauce and lemon. The rice to everything ratio was off. There was a lot of rice and I probably had 3-4 pieces of sweet potatoes and broccoli, and not enough steak which is kind of a rip off in terms of price. Luckily I had the chicken side as well.

Got the bbq chicken bowl with a jasmine rice base, roasted broccoli, sauteed mushroom, and jammy egg for the sides, and korean bbq sauce. Also got the steak bowl with brown rice base, corn salad, cucumber salad, and sauteed mushroom sides, and spicy gochujang sauce. Ordering was a breeze online, with a 20-minute wait time quoted. It ended up taking about 30 minutes (we checked the kiosk inside the Ruff Food Pick-up location), with a phone notification only coming in AFTER we already picked up our food. All of the items in our bowls had great flavor and consistency, both the meats and the veggies, really good quality. We were not too impressed with the dressings though. The gochujang sauce wasn't spicy at all, and the korean bbq sauce was vinegary and watery, I just wasn't a fan of this. Good news is, the food was so good, it didn't need sauce.

Love moon bowls. It feels healthy and you can customize your sides. Perfect amount of ingredients. I like their kale and pineapple sides. I only had moon bowls a few times and would like to try other sauces. Overall, a good recommendation if you're craving something healthy or filling.

Impossible Beef Bowl

Not bad. This place is located near the San Jose airport. It's a bit interesting....there's no place to sit inside or anything... you just order on the kiosk or online, wait 5-10 min and then u pop open a locker to get your food. I would say it is a little on the pricier side but I was still really full after I had my meal. Got the impossible beef bowl and the tofu sesame bowl. Location is a little sketch and there were some weird people hanging around close by

Cockroach in food

Do NOT order from this "restaurant". I will never order from this place again. We found a cockroach inside of the food. That is highly disgusting and unacceptable. I will be reporting this to the department of health. This place should be shut down. If you have ordered from this place before who knows how many cockroaches you have accidentally eaten because of the unsanitary conditions of this place.

I didn't expect the food to be anything special, since it's a cloud kitchen. The concept itself is pretty cool, since you don't need to deal with anybody. You just check in on the tablet and the locker room will pop out inside. I got the avocado bulgogi, bbq chicken bowl, and a brownie. Both of the bowls were pretty good and healthy. The brownie was also delicious, but a bit pricey. It's an awesome way to try out different foods in one place for your convenience.

Had a chance to try Moonbowls when i ordered it from Uber Eats and it was a great experience. This is located in the Local Kitchens where it's a ghost kitchen where you can get other types of foods. The cool thing is this was a touch less experience where you don't talk to anyone and the food was in a locker once I checked in. For food I ordered the bbq chicken bowl which was really yummy. The chicken was flavorful and juicy with brown rice and I got it with sweet potatoes, kale salad and corn. The flavors were amazing. For my dressing I got the ginger sesame vinaigrette which was a little on the tart side - the which I did not love. Next time I would get a different dressing but overall the bowl was reallyy good. Worth checking out for something to try at Local Kitchens!

Steak bowl with spicy special sauce, cucumber salad, corn salad, pickled onions, and sautéed mushroom
Stephanie S.

Used delivery service for This lunch order so I cannot speak to pick up service. However I ordered the Steak bowl with rice base, spicy special sauce, pickled onions, cucumber salad, and sautéed mushrooms. I did add a little corn salad that my coworker ordered a side of, so that portion isn't true to portion size. Also shared some steak with him so that's why steak portion may look small. Delicious bowl! All the flavor profiles went so well with each other. Maybe just wish I would have added either an egg or avocado.

crispy cauliflower salad (corn, kimchi, ranch)

The avocado bulgogi bowl is AMAZING. Super flavorful, and they were very generous with the amount of impossible meat. No joke one of the best meals I've had in a while. The menu is very vegan friendly (they don't use dairy at all so most dressings are vegan too) and well labelled.

Sesame Tofu Bowl
Olivia N.

So good! I ordered delivery so I can't comment on the ambience. Customer service was great and delivery was fast. I got the sesame tofu bowl with mushroom, broccoli and sweet potatoes with the creamy sesame sauce. Delicious, fresh and gluten free! Next time I'll order extra creamy sesame sauce because it was so good.

Grilled Octopus was excellent as always, my favorite dishes here. Lamb Osso Bucco was served with orzo rice, peas, morels. Lamb was tender and well-seasoned. Tamarind Glazed Salmon served with kale and red quinoa. The salmon itself was good, but I don't think the quinoa was a good match with the dish. The flatbread was the most disliked item we had. It was a bit bland and too doughy. We enjoyed the Peyrassol Rosé (France 2025), which was not only nice to see but also nice to drink. Love the smooth texture and taste. Vanilla Crème Brûlée was enjoyable, the shortbread cookie was somewhat bland. Chocolate Date Cake was rich and quite sweet. Even we shared it among 3-4 people, we still couldn't finish it. The former because it seemed like they might be a bit pricey for what they are; the latter because most of my friends that have tried them have spoken relatively highly about what they've had. As such, while they've been on my list of bookmarks for a quite a while, I never felt very compelled to try them either. And yet, somehow, we've managed to make our way to the one here in San Jose multiple times now! Sitting right in the heart of Santana Row, this particular Ozumo makes for a great spot to grab lunch during a day of shopping, happy hour after a long day at work, or a Friday or Saturday date night. Unlike your neighborhood Japanese restaurant and their array of bento box combos, the menu here is more like an izakaya's, with a much more varied array of options to offer - small bites, ramen/udon, entrees, nigiri, sashimi, and a mix of classic and house sushi rolls. In addition, they also have an interesting cocktail menu, featuring a lot of staple drinks that are infused with Asian flavors/ingredients. -- HAZAKURA - Umami Gin, Sake, Luxardo, Sakura Vermouth, Orgeat Cherry Blossom Elixir, Lemon, and Greek Yogurt Not only did this sound really unique (first time seeing a cocktail with Greek yogurt in it), but it was pretty tasty, too! I liked how the overall profile was light, semi-floral, and super easy to drink. Pretty solid! -- TOKYO VICE - Arette Blanco Tequila, Grapefruit, Ume, Fresno, Lime, and Togarashi This felt pretty true to a spicy paloma, as the Asian elements were subtle, and tasted pretty good. It was hard to separate the ume from the grapefruit, but I liked their combined tartness and the spice from the Fresno chilies and togarashi. -- HANABI - Sliced Hamachi & Avocado, Shredded Daikon, Leeks, and Warm Ginger-Chili Ponzu All in all, this was pretty solid. The hamachi was flavorful and I liked how every piece had ikura on it. The avocado was a little firm, but it still complemented the fish well, as did the ginger-chili ponzu sauce. -- KYUSHU KARAAGE - Japanese Style Fried Chicken with Red Yuzu Kosho Aioli While I certainly wish the portion had been larger, the taste of this was great. Each piece was surprisingly big, the batter was crispy, and the chicken itself was quite juicy. -- BROCCOLINI - Grilled Broccolini with Sweet Onion Sauce and Sesame Seeds Ehh...I wasn't a fan of this one. This was described as grilled, but it didn't taste that way. Rather, it felt like it was sauteed and overcooked at that. By no means terrible, but I wouldn't get this again. -- KINOKO - Roasted Enoki, Hon Shimeji, and Oyster Mushrooms with Garlic Tamari and Chives Aside from how the enoki mushrooms felt a little overcooked and stringy, this dish was pretty good! Loved how the mushrooms has a slightly earthy taste and how the garlic tamari added a nice umami. -- AGEDASHI TOFU - Crispy Silken Tofu with Kabocha Squash and Shiitake Dashi This was great! The tofu was silky and I liked how the batter didn't fall apart nor get gummy. The kabocha was good too, but the highlight for me was the shiitake dashi, which I wish every agedashi tofu dish had. -- SAKE YUAN YAKI - Grilled Salmon with Citrus Soy Glaze & Yuzu Togarashi Maybe it's just because I had a bad one just a few nights before, but I liked this one! The edges had a nice char, the salmon was super moist, and I liked how the glaze had a touch of sweetness and acidity. -- HAMACHI MANGO HAND ROLL with Soy Paper It was a little surprising to see this was left unwrapped, but this was no less delicious! The slices of mango weren't super juicy, but they were fresh, the rice was well cooked, and the hamachi was terrific! Across each of the visits we've made here, the service has been pretty good. Every server we've had has been welcoming and attentive (yet not overbearing). What's more, orders typically seem to come out relatively fast regardless of how busy the place is. As much as I enjoyed the vast majority of what we've tried, though, I do wish that the portion sizes had been larger, particularly the Hanabi, Karaage, and Agedashi Tofu. That being said, it was hardly shocking to see given how Ozumo is nicer than your average Japanese restaurant (and it's Santana Row of all places). In any case, it wouldn't stop me from coming back, despite how there are so many other restaurants nearby that I still want to check out. Or, at the very least, finally visit their original spot in SF to try their sushi offerings! All in all, THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded up.
