Arugula that I asked to not have.

I asked for no arugula in my salad or panini. Not only did I get extra arugula on both, but I also picked it up on time, and the bread on my panini was soggy and disgusting. It was so gross that I wouldn't eat it. I don't really write reviews but I wasted so much money on a dinner that I was looking forward to after a long day at work.

Had to come drop a 4-star review for the Panera lobster roll, served on a soft bun with fresh green and red leaf lettuce and a pickle side. Wow pleasant surprise! They just started serving them about a week ago (it's Memorial Day weekend) and as a native Mainer I have been craving one since the weather turned warm. But prices are through the roof at $30 pretty much everywhere! Panera's was made fresh and coming in at $22 did not break the bank. I even went back to the counter to ask a) is the lobster from Maine (yes) and b) is it fresh or frozen? (fresh) Overall highly recommend, you just might need to add some salt pepper and Tabasco as I did. The only reason I knocked off a star is because I don't like ordering at a kiosk but for everything else you're good to go!

Stopped in for a late dinner after my daughter's practice - chipotle avocado chicken sandwich & broccoli soup. The soup was the basic pre-made broccoli soup available at every Panera. The sandwich was "ok", nothing special and it was kind of dry. But it was a quick meal and we were in and out. Cozy spot by the fire and the tea options were great! Best fast food option out these vs your typical burger joints

Went to Panera after Christmas as we had gotten a gift certificate- ordered a large cheese steak sandwich- Thus is a picture of my sandwich - the pink is marinated onion-There was not an ounce of beef in the sandwich- not going for haute cuisine but this was ridiculous!

To Say without a doubt the worst service I have ever received to date ' the manager on duty was nothing but Rude & obnoxious ' the Girl at the register didn't seem like she wanted to be there ! Her mind I think was 100 miles away! Let a message on their website for the district manager to call me and still nothing..' Go Figure ! Waited close to 25 mins for our order to find out the hadn't even got it Ready... I wish I could give minus Stars

Reading all the reviews, I was not sure if I should get a tetanus shot or run for the hills; however, figured I would give this place a go. After realizing this is a Panera and not Hugo's, Miyake, or some other high end restaurant in Maine, I was able to put aside any high expectations and evaluate the restaurant for what it is: a fast food restaurant. This Panera is the same as all others. Was it the best Panera I have ever been to, no; however, it as also not the worst. If you are looking for a Panera and what that chain has to offer, then this place is pretty much the same as others.

You have to build your own pb&j. They can't handle allergens. Then why sell them??

I ordered 24 sandwiches at 11:30. I was told to pick it up at 12:15. I waited at the counter for OVER AN HOUR. This place is understaffed.

Lately the So. Portland Panera has gone down hill. No decaf and no skim milk. It made me stay up all night

All 3 sandwiches were large and full of meat. We got it to go and by the time we got home, the sandwiches were a little soggy from the juices. Still was good though. The Philly cheesesteak was very good. A large was big enough to split between my teenage son and I. The roast beef was good, but I got a blast of horseradish up the nose after what I thought was a clump of Cole slaw, and I was done. My husband enjoyed his Reuben. Wish I could have tried just my order of Cole slaw. Maybe next time... I wished I had ordered the fries after seeing how thin and crispy they were. Waitstaff was busy, but sweet and helpful. Everything seems to be homemade there. Will definitely try again.

In the culinary craze that's taken over the city in the past 5 years, "artisan" bagels are part of the rage. With that, everyone seems to have their own list they'll fight over 'til death. I personally still haven't tried Purple House at which some people seem ready to trade their first-born for a bagel, but my own list starting with the ones I really could care less about is Forage, Scratch, Rose (tried in via the Food CoOp or something, not in-house), Union, Mr. Bagel. I'm sure this is borderline trolling to some Portland bagel eaters, but that's where I stand. Is it the best bagel in the world? Certainly not. But man, does it hit the spot for this guy in a way that Forage never can, and saving some money is a nice added bonus. I grew up going to the Forest Ave location most often, back in the OG Rick Hartglass days, but find that particular location a bit of a pain to get in and out of (I mean, who voluntarily wants to drive Forest Ave in general?) and the parking lot can be a zoo on weekends. They also have a ton of options there, deli sandwiches (love the sports names like the Danny Ainge), tons of breakfast sandwiches and burritos. That's all good, but it takes them a while to make those things, whereas the S. Portland location by the mall has a huge lot, and not as many options for better or for worse. I'm personally just here for the bagels, so that's my go-to. I'm sure Bon Appetit will keep sending all the tourists to Rose Foods for an $8 bagel, but I sure hope Mr. Bagel has a loyal enough following to keep it up for a while longer.
