This place saves lives on a busy night: they're quick, have so many delicious broth, sauce, noodle, and topping options. While waiting for a restaurant with a long wait, we dropped by to grab their dirty dumplings (drowned in peanut sauce, crushed peanuts, cilantro, and sriracha) and they were flawless. And now, we're thinking of taking our name off the other restaurant waitlist and making this a full meal. It's a casual counter service-style place that rides on its speed and quality. Absolutely stellar!

One of the best noodle spots in Maine! They have great prices and the atmosphere is so positive, it was a great experience! I got a build your own bowl with chicken broth, chicken, kimchi. baby bok choy, and bean sprouts, and the kimchi was great and not too spicy! The chicken could definitely use some more seasoning but it was tender and with the kimchi in the broth, it was really good!

Food was very good! Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant could have been slightly cleaner. We tried 2 different ramen bowls. The Tokyo and the Peking Broth. Both were excellent. The meat in both (pork in one and duck in the other) was perfectly tender and very flavorful. The broth in both (chicken in one, and a mix of pork and vegetable broth in the other) were very flavorful. The ramen noodles were perfectly soft. I would have liked a few more veggies in mine (more bok choy in particular), and both could have been a little hotter. They were warm, but I like my ramen piping hot. The restaurant is a fast casual, order at the counter, with eat in tables. Several tables looked like they needed to be cleaned, so we chose the cleanest one we could find. I also noticed when we brought our tray and with dirty dishes to the station set up for dirty dishes, it was so packed I would barely find a place to put the tray and dishes, and had to stack them on top of others. Perhaps they were short staffed on a Sunday during lunch? I will definitely go back....so many of the broths sounded delicious.

We had a really nice and yummy dinner at Mainely Noods! They have an awesome menu of customizable noodle dishes, both soups and non-soups! My husband ordered the Hong Kong soup while I did the create-your-own with ramen noodles, veggie broth, chicken, pork dumplings, edamame, bok choy, and mushrooms. I love that you can really make it your own! Portion size was generous and definitely fills you up. We both added additional sauces from the sauce bar, such as chili oil, soy sauce, and sriracha. I do wish the broth itself came a bit more flavored but I can also appreciate that a simpler broth provides a base that allows people to modify to their unique preferences, like we did with the sauces. All the ingredients tastes fresh and flavorful! I love the decor and vibe as well. The employees were very friendly too.

Dirty Dumps, and Portland Noods with tofu (vegan).

You would probably never know it if you were just passing by, but the noodles here are amazing! We are all vegan, and they have several amazing options. I always get the Portland with tofu and shiitake mushrooms. The food is inexpensive, arrives at your table in like 3-5 minutes, is super-fragrant and tasty, and costs very little. I would eat here everyday if I could - we never get tired of Mainly Noods! 5-stars across the board :-)

My ramen was delivered to my hospital room. I agree with all the rave reviews!!! I couldn't finish the ramen probably left 30% of the ramen. Great spot. We'll return later in the year when I'm home feeling better. Service delivery was spot on.

Great quick dinner/lunch spot in Portland! Every dish is very customizable which is great. Staff is very friendly. The polaroids on the wall are always fun to look at.

Super cool place with a chill vibe. Noodles are delicious and priced well. Made my own bowl with Udon, Braised Pork, and Egg, with Sesame and Peanut Sauce for $10.5 and it was heavenly. Service was also super nice. Definitely will come back and bring friends.

The ramen was so yummy! The place itself has such a cute atmosphere and has noodle puns all around!

Double rice noodles, double bok choy, double edamame, and coconut curry broth. Thinking this isn't really double veggie though, eh?

Mainely Noods has become a favorite and quite regular takeaway for us... but *every* single time we order - it doesn't matter of it it's in person, online, or through a delivery app - something is wrong: we've had items missing (I know it's only .25 cents, but I have never once received the chili oil or chili pepper I've bought), the wrong toppings have been on the wrong noodles (we always both order vegan, but imagine if one of us wasn't?), and lately our "x2" veggies haven't been doubled (ex: looking at photos from our first bowl to our most recent bowl, we got the same amount of baby bok choy in both despite paying for twice as much - again, I know it's only $1, but... can you see how these things are adding up?). But... those five-star flavors keep me coming back! #hearteyesemoji We always order the same thing: 1. a Build Your Own Bowl (my go to is the coconut curry broth [it's SO creamy, SO perfectly spicy... have I drunk it directly from the takeaway container? I sure have!)], x2 rice noodles, x2 baby bok choy, x2 edamame, and shiitake mushrooms), as well as 2. the Dirty Dumplings (which are six veggie dumplings smothered in both peanut sauce and sriracha, topped with peanuts, scallions, and fried garlic - they taste exactly how they sound! sometimes the dumplings are a little extra crispy, and I'm so here for that!); they're one of my favorite menu items in all of Portland, and I absolutely do not share. #getyourown There are so many vegan options, the food is always piping hot, it's always ready way sooner than they say it's going to be, and the flavors are so rich... I just don't expect my order to be 100% accurate!

This was the worst Ramen I have ever had in my life like I am literally not exaggerating. I just got home from soccer practice and I wanted to have some takeout and mainly nudes really I'm disappointed. This is my first time trying this, and it's so bad--there's no flavor at all. Everything looks rushed, and they messed up my order. I didn't even get what I was supposed to, and now my stomach hurts. The chicken is shredded into tiny pieces that look like microplastics. They didn't say how the chicken would look, and the lettuce seems weird. The bean sprouts are bad. The chicken doesn't look like the photo, and it doesn't even taste like chicken. Honestly, I'm worried about my health. This was just disgusting, and my dumplings were cold. Don't they make the food fresh? I'm so confused. And my sister's steamed pork buns were cold, with a plastic sheet stuck to the bottom, like something from Costco or Walmart. It's disgusting. I'm really disappointed, especially since they gave me a large paper for my dumplings with only six in it--like they should have specified the portion size because I wouldn't have paid so much. We're looking at the website right now and nothing looks like the food that we have right in front of us. This all looks really terrible.

This is the best bang for your buck if you're looking to grab something quick and inexpensive in downtown Portland. The location is so cute they even took a Polaroid of my friends and I for the wall. I absolutely adore the curry broth ramen but my friends get an array of other things with kimchi and meat options and all are very well reviewed.

Bangkok (curry broth, chicken, kimchi jalapeno)
    Rebecca D.

Very cute and cozy little noodle bowl place. Stopped in on a Friday night to eat in and it wasn't too crowded. I ordered the Portland bowl (tofu, rice noodles, bok choy, bean sprouts) and it was pretty good. I wish the broth had more flavor and that there was more bok choy - there was only one piece in my bowl. The friend I was with got the Bangkok and loved it. I tried some of hers and it was very flavorful so maybe the curry-based bowls are the way to go. The portions were very generous and the prices were fair. Overall happy with my visit.

I forget the name, but it has tofu and Bok choy in it

I tried to visit from out of the area. Couldn't find it even with a gps ?! Is there any parking ? Like a parking lot?

No parking lot. Street parking is your best bet. Or there are garages in the Old Port area to use and walk from.

On top of that, the food is BOMB. We got the hot lemon chicken, the beef sirloin salad, and the Mee katang. The hot lemon chicken was crispy, lightly breaded, moist inside, and had great flavor. We devoured this dish so fast. If you love taiwanese popcorn chicken or karage I would highly recommend this dish. (8/10) The beef sirloin salad was super well seasoned and I loved the tangy and bright dressing. It helped to balance the meal with the other heavier dishes. The sirloin was tender and the vegetable were super fresh and crunchy. This reminded me of a vietnamese style salad and i loved it. (8.5/10) The mee katang was super unique. We snagged the two furthest bar seats with a slight peak into the kitchen watching food being prepared. They had QR codes around for you to scan to pull up the menu. Overall it's a small space as well as being a thin and narrow space. Be ready for a possible wait for a spot to open up. To start off we grabbed some cocktails, my wife got their Shiso Lucky (Roku Gin, shiso, lime) and I got Kochi Sunset (Shochu, yuzu, blood orange). Also for a starter we decided to have the Lobster Buns. Cocktails were great and well made. The lobster buns were a fantastic unique way of enjoying lobster. My wife did find the texture of the bun to be not ideal but overall enjoyed it. Entree wise we both decided on the duck ramen. We both enjoyed it very much, my wife could have done without the menma (fermented bamboo shoots). I wish it had more duck in it honestly. The duck was extremely tasty in both the normal meat and meatball. For our return eventually we will both likely try a different ramen to branch out. Overall a pretty solid overall experience. Some small changes could make me change it to a five star from my current four. It certainly fulfilled the ramen craving and I could see this being a no -brainer for stopping at during the brutal winters Maine has.
