A unique fast-casual noodle concept that worked! We got one Build Your Bowl, the Seoul, and two Noooooods. I made a bowl and thought the 5 Spice Pork Broth x Peanut Sauce combo was divine. The drawback of creating my own bowl was that it really made the cost add up. Note that each sauce costs $2 extra. My groupmate thought the Seoul was great. The two that got the Noooooods thought the soup was bland and had to add soy sauce to compensate. Make sure to ask for your pic taken so it can be added to their wall! read more

Food was very good! Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant could have been slightly cleaner. We tried 2 different ramen bowls. The Tokyo and the Peking Broth. Both were excellent. The meat in both (pork in one and duck in the other) was perfectly tender and very flavorful. The broth in both (chicken in one, and a mix of pork and vegetable broth in the other) were very flavorful. The ramen noodles were perfectly soft. I would have liked a few more veggies in mine (more bok choy in particular), and both could have been a little hotter. They were warm, but I like my ramen piping hot. The restaurant is a fast casual, order at the counter, with eat in tables. Several tables looked like they needed to be cleaned, so we chose the cleanest one we could find. I also noticed when we brought our tray and with dirty dishes to the station set up for dirty dishes, it was so packed I would barely find a place to put the tray and dishes, and had to stack them on top of others. We had a really nice and yummy dinner at Mainely Noods! They have an awesome menu of customizable noodle dishes, both soups and non-soups! My husband ordered the Hong Kong soup while I did the create-your-own with ramen noodles, veggie broth, chicken, pork dumplings, edamame, bok choy, and mushrooms. I love that you can really make it your own! Portion size was generous and definitely fills you up. We both added additional sauces from the sauce bar, such as chili oil, soy sauce, and sriracha. I do wish the broth itself came a bit more flavored but I can also appreciate that a simpler broth provides a base that allows people to modify to their unique preferences, like we did with the sauces. Mainely Noods has become a favorite and quite regular takeaway for us... but *every* single time we order - it doesn't matter of it it's in person, online, or through a delivery app - something is wrong: we've had items missing (I know it's only .25 cents, but I have never once received the chili oil or chili pepper I've bought), the wrong toppings have been on the wrong noodles (we always both order vegan, but imagine if one of us wasn't?), and lately our "x2" veggies haven't been doubled (ex: looking at photos from our first bowl to our most recent bowl, we got the same amount of baby bok choy in both despite paying for twice as much - again, I know it's only $1, but... can you see how these things are adding up?). But... those five-star flavors keep me coming back! #hearteyesemoji We always order the same thing: 1. a Build Your Own Bowl (my go to is the coconut curry broth [it's SO creamy, SO perfectly spicy... have I drunk it directly from the takeaway container? This was the worst Ramen I have ever had in my life like I am literally not exaggerating. I just got home from soccer practice and I wanted to have some takeout and mainly nudes really I'm disappointed. This is my first time trying this, and it's so bad--there's no flavor at all. Everything looks rushed, and they messed up my order. I didn't even get what I was supposed to, and now my stomach hurts. The chicken is shredded into tiny pieces that look like microplastics. They didn't say how the chicken would look, and the lettuce seems weird. The bean sprouts are bad. The chicken doesn't look like the photo, and it doesn't even taste like chicken. Honestly, I'm worried about my health. This was just disgusting, and my dumplings were cold. Don't they make the food fresh? I'm so confused. And my sister's steamed pork buns were cold, with a plastic sheet stuck to the bottom, like something from Costco or Walmart. It's disgusting. I'm really disappointed, especially since they gave me a large paper for my dumplings with only six in it--like they should have specified the portion size because I wouldn't have paid so much. I wish the broth had more flavor and that there was more bok choy - there was only one piece in my bowl. The friend I was with got the Bangkok and loved it. I was on the back end of a bad cold and a friends asked if I'd like to go out to lunch. Mainely Noods was the perfect choice. The dirty (vegan) dumplings had a nice little zip in the sauce that cleared my sinuses right out. The dumplings themselves were nicely fried and the dough wasn't overly thick. They were quite yummy. Having never been here before, ordering my bowl was a bit of a learning curve but the ladies behind the counter were so helpful and patient. You can literally build you own meal here. If that feels overwhelming, do as I did and start with one of their featured combinations and then add from there. I ended up going with a Noooooods bowl with the coconut curry broth and adding some additional veggies. It was perfect. I am joining the string of exceptional reviews for this place. It's bomb. We came up to Portland for a quick jaunt this week and Mainely Noods popped our Portland food cherry. I've heard really good things about the food up here and this place did not disappoint. We ordered delivery, and both of us ordered the miso broth. YES I labored over the decision between ramen noodles and udon (how could one ever choose?) but we both ultimately ordered the ramen noods. For add-ons, you have the choice of a protein including meat and tofu (I chose tofu) and a bunch of veggies that each cost about $1. I was not fucking around and selected cucumber, edamame, cabbage, kimchi, and corn. The minute I opened this place on my delivery app, ngl, I ordered the vegetable dumplings. When I was checking out, I slid an order of their sesame noodles into my cart in addition because can you really ever have enough noods? The bowls were massive and a perfect serving size to be filling but also leave some room for any extras you may have ordered. The broth is packaged separately with no spillage on the journey to our hotel. Our ramen was absolutely delicious and ingredients fresh. I loved the flavor of the miso. The sesame noodles were SO GOOD. The flavor was like nothing I've tasted before but IN A GOOD WAY. Like do they deliver to MA? Do they sell this by the truckload? Do not eat from here without ordering these ribbons of heaven. The vegetable dumplings were just ok. We are talking about dumplings so you can't really go wrong but these were nothing to write home about. Oh my God, this place is AMAZING. My expectations were already so high from all these great Yelp reviews, and yet they still exceeded them (and then some). We called in a takeout order for two custom bowls of noodles, and they were perfect. Broth and noodles packaged separately as they should be, and everything piping hot so that it was the perfect temp to eat by the time we got home. Pickup was contactless as well! A+ job from the start. The food is fantastic. I got the coconut curry broth with egg noodles, and I savored every last drop of that addictive curry broth. It was seriously better than a lot of the khao sois I've had at Thai restaurants. For toppings, I chose the braised pork, baby bok choy, and a soft-boiled egg. The portion of pork was very generous, and it was so tender and flavorful without being fatty. This is definitely the protein to get. My husband got the five spice broth with udon, Szechuan chicken, bok choy, and an egg. His broth was somehow even better than mine, and I didn't think that was possible. The five spice broth just explodes with flavor. The Szechuan chicken was ground, which we were not expecting, but was very tasty and had good Szechuan flavor without being too numbing or spicy. We couldn't get enough of our noodles, and the best part is how reasonable the prices are. We spent less than $20 for two bowls of quality noodles that left us stuffed. I challenge you to find a better deal in Portland for this quality of food. This is easily the best Asian food I've had in this city, and my biggest fear now is that they won't survive this pandemic. UhhhhYUMMMM! Love it. I'm not a ramen fan, and I'm vegetarian, so I have no say there, but I love doing the "Build Your Own Bowl" option and custom picking each item. Surprisingly a lot of veggie/vegan menu options, which I am always a fan of. My fav is to get the coconut curry sauce (competes with Boda and Green Elephant--both on the same street--but cheaper here). Then, I add either udon noodles or ramen noodles (ramen noodles are extra $, which is confusing, but whatever). Then, I add a bunch of veggies, my favs of which are the pickled cucumber and the pickled daikon. You can also add a veggie dumpling (which are vegan even though they're called "veggie"...a bit confusing here also but glad for the menu demarcations of what is veggie and vegan, so ty @MainelyNoods for that). I don't actually recommend adding it because it's $2 to add one to your bowl, but you can order an entire side order for $6. I HIGHLY recommend doing that. A bowl of noods and a box of dumps? My signature bowl was the Tai Pei bowl. The five spice broth was very flavorful, though I feel like I've had better. The meat was mostly very dry. The hard boiled egg didn't really work as well as a soft boiled one would've, but maybe that's not really doable for carryout food.
