So we go in, place is nice and bright, smells like garlic and tomatoes the second you walk through the door--right away you know you're in for something good. The waitress, real sweetheart, friendly as hell, takes care of us the whole night. Even when that little electronic game thing they leave on the table tried to screw us--tried to charge the bill for playing it when we didn't even touch the damn thing--she fixed it quick, no attitude, no problem. That's service. That's respect. They bring out the salad, the famous one, big bowl for the table, crisp greens, those pepperoncini, olives, tomatoes--beautiful. And the breadsticks? Warm, soft inside, little crust on the outside, garlic butter shining on 'em. We're tearing into that stuff like animals. Me and the kids, we're washing it down with Dr. Pwpper, Coke Zero, and Lemonade--refills coming faster than you can say "another round." I'm telling you, between the salad and the breadsticks, we're already getting full, but in a good way, you know? Happy full. Then the mains come out. I went with the create-your-own pasta--spaghetti, meat sauce, couple meatballs on top. Classic. Simple. Perfect. The sauce is rich, got that slow-cooked taste, meatballs tender, not those frozen hockey pucks you get some places. My boy, he orders the seafood fettuccine Alfredo--shrimp, scallops, all that. Kid attacks it like he hasn't eaten in a week. He finishes every piece of seafood, leaves just a little pasta twirl on the plate. Proud of him. My girl, she gets the fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli--eats every damn piece of broccoli like she's still trying to get dessert privileges. Good girl. Leaves a decent portion of the pasta, but who's counting? Me? I put away maybe a third of mine. The plate's huge, the food's heavy in the best way, and with all that salad and breadsticks already sitting there, I tap out early. But I bring the rest home--believe me, that box is gonna be a whole second dinner tomorrow, maybe even lunch after that. Waste not, want not. Overall, solid spot. Family-friendly, portions like you won't believe, food that hits the spot without any pretension. The Olive Garden on Alpine Avenue?
